  1. Ornithomimus - The Egg Collector "Species: Ornithomimus velox Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Docile Wild: Ornithomimus can be found in the forests and beaches of the two islands. They can be found in packs of three or four around a nest where they gather eggs for other wild dinosaurs. The feathers on the wings seems to cradle and protect the eggs while they travel with them. It also seems the less in the pack the closer to the nest they stay. Though they live in packs there does not seem to be an alpha. Their nests have been found to contain numerous eggs and sometimes hatchlings. They are fast creatures that will flee from predators but seem to be indifferent to Survivors which allows us to approach them easily. Domesticated: Though they are not large enough for fighting and riding the survivors have found their egg collecting to be effective once domesticated. Their nests are placed within breeding areas where the more Ornithomimus you have the larger the collection area seems to be. They will gather any eggs laid and bring them to the nest. If there is a trough nearby they will leave the eggs alone to be gathered by a survivor. They will even pick up fertilized eggs. These eggs seem to hatch slightly faster but are no comparison to the Egg Incubator. ~Helena" Behavior Ornithomimus is used by Survivors for its Egg Collection. In the wild different eggs can be found at their nest. Any predators coming close to them will force them to flee at fast speeds. Appearance A theropod that resembles an Ostrich but smaller. Its feathers are smaller and closer to the body except for a plumage around the arms and tail. The plumage is more colorful then the body. Taming Taming Food: Fertilized Eggs from the Extra Large and Special Egg Groups, small dinosaurs, small mammals, and small insects. 1st Taming Method: With an unfertilized egg in your hotbar slot 0, lead an Ornothismimus or multiple to any of the following creatues: Achatina, Archaeopteryx, Bulbdog, Compy, Dilo, Dodo, Ferox, Glowtail, Hesperornis, Hyaenodon, Jerboa, Kairuku, Lystrosaurus, Mesopithecus, Otter, Oviraptor, Pegomastx, Shinehorn, Titanomyrma, Troodon. The Ornitho or Ornithos will kill the small creatures and gain taming. 2nd Taming Method: With a fertilized egg from the Extra Large and Special Egg Groups in your hotbar slot 0, approach a single Ornitho and feed it. Repeat until tamed. This is its kibble method and will tame faster. Once tamed the Ornithomimus is an omnivore and will eat any meat, berry or vegetable. If there is no trough nearby and no food in its inventory it will eat any eggs nearby. Utility Egg Collection: Bring the Ornitho near an Ornito Nest and the creature will begin to collect any eggs on the ground with a radius of the Ornitho Nest. This radius will change depending on the amount or Ornithos in the nest proximity. New Item Ornitho Nest: When placed, a radius in which Ornithomimus can collect eggs will be placed. This radius will change depending on the amount of Ornithos in the area. 4 Ornithos = 11 Cubic Foundations 3 Ornithos = 9 Cubic Foundations 2 Ornithos = 7 Cubic Foundations 1 Ornitho= 5 Cubic Foundations Ingredients 120 x Wood or Fungal Wood 60 Thatch 40 Fiber 8 Eggs Increase Hatched time by 4% for Fertilized Eggs within nest. The blue is the size. 2. Kwanasaurus Kwanasaurus williamparkeri Rideable: yes Tameable: yes Breedable: yes* *only can be bred with a wild one Temperament: aggressive if provoked Diet: omnivore Radiation immune: yes Wild: Kwanasaurus williamparkeri is a lizard that mainly keeps to itself even aggroing on other kwanasaurus in the area, and don’t get too close or it will attack! It’s poisonous bite will knock you out and it will drain your blood. Be very cautious around trees and cliffs, as the Kwanasaurus is a great climber, but don’t try to escape to the water either as it’s webbed feet make it an excellent swimmer. Tamed: When taming the Kwanasaurus a ghille suit and berries will be a nessesity for taming it passively. The Kwanasaurus may also be tamed by knockout but it will require blood. Once tamed it is a great mount for transportation, and it’s poison may be collected to be used in place of narcotics. Other info: if attacking a group of creatures that have a pack buff the kwanasaurus negates it. The kwanasaurus can also climb trees The kwanasaurus can be tamed passively or by knockout. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. and yes this is an oversized creature as the real thing is only a few feet long. 2C229540-2A14-44CF-89BC-DE428FF3774E.webp
  3. A swamp living tank that will eat anything. It would be passive until attacked. Would drop keratin, meat and hide. It would be able to harvest meat, chitin, keratin, meat, hide, and berries. 1 man saddle. Possible abilities: Able to grow plant species Y/X/Z on its back High armor High health Tail causes bleeding Biting attack Dossier: Desmatosuchus Paluslacus Temperament reactive Time period Triassic Diet omnivore Wild: While most reptiles that thrive in ark swamps are aggressive, desmatosuchus seems to be an exception. These burly reptiles roam the swamp in search of something edible. It seems that few species eat them, as these animals are covered with armor and spikes from head to toe. However, the most interesting is their active camouflage, which consists in covering with dirt and moss. They seem to stimulate this growth by giving the plants and moss on the back nutrients directly from their bodies. This leads to anything that desmas actually notices to leave them alone, however, if something tries to attack this normally calm aetosaurus, it may become enraged before entering an extremely docile state. Domesticated: While very few tribes have managed to tame this beast, those who have found an incredibly useful companion for both war and simple survival. Due to the fact that most species lead a sedentary lifestyle, desmatosuchus is unique in that it can grow types of plants on its back. However, most edible plants seem to grow poorly, leading most survivors to grow endemic plant species x, y, and even z. However, these plants seem to make desmatosuchus hungrier and hungrier. Even their spiky tails seem to help plant growth by scaring away insects and birds. Abilities: Left mouse click - Medium Bite attack Right-click - Swipe with the tail, which deals more damage, but has more cool down Attack C-plant attacks. For Species X, he turns on their tower mode and exhausts his hunger with each shot. For Plant species Y desmatosuchus will drop 4 plant species y traps around itself, which will have cool down during which desma hunger sharply depleted. Finally, for plant species Z, desmatosuchus will blow up all the fruits of Plant Z at once and produce a powerful flash that will blind the creature for a considerable period of time and similarly have a long recovery period during which hunger is rapidly depleted, as Plant species Y. Taming: Unlike most ark creatures, Desmatosuchus seems to be resistant to tranquilizers while on guard, and it's almost impossible to knock them out when they are alert. The way to get around this is to attack Desmatosuchus until he goes into a defensive rage. Having survived this Rage, desmatosuchus will get tired and will be vulnerable to tranquilizers that allow you to tame it by knockout. The higher the level, the more damage is required to the transition to a state of rage and the longer it lasts. Cultivation of plant species: To grow plants on its back and sides, seeds are first required. After placing these seeds in the inventory, the plants will grow, and the hunger of the desmatosuchus will be depleted a little faster than usual. After about half the normal growth time, the plants will be fully grown and ready for use. None of these processes require fertilizers or water, as the plants get both from the croc. After the plants are fully grown, desma's hunger will always be depleted a little more than usual, but it will still be smaller when the plants were growing. The plants would visually be smaller and visually represent the stages of their growth, and would also be around the lateral thorns of the desma. Various: - Desmatosuchus would be about the of a roll rat. - The saddle would be placed in the middle area of the armor with the saddle attached to the two longest spikes on its back. - it would have a health score similar to allo's, but would have a large damage reduction due to his armor. - It would be quite slow and would have a large turning radius. - It will also have a pretty good carrying capacity - it would have high hunger with the usually slow exhaustion of hunger. - He could do a little above average damage - Finally, it won't have oxygen stats . Pictures:
  4. It would be great to have berry meat gatherer that capable to kick butts and heal himself real quick
  5. I'd like to cast my vote for Fjordor on a group of animals that haven't seen as much love as others in ARK, the oviraptorids! Introducing Citipati regalimaia. Reworking my idea from the last vote, I still very much would love to see a very angry adrenaline filled mother rampaging about on the battlefield. Quick Table of Contents for easy navigation; 1. Dossier 2. (Potential) Abilities and Controls 3. Taming Method 4. Art (pending recolour from last contest) 5. Supplementary Links 6. Other references (in comment below) Dossier Common Name : Citipati Species : Citipati regalimaia Time : Late Cretaceous Diet : Omnivore Temperament : Loyal Wild Citipati is quite the peculiar theropod. Standing at a height that rivals Allosaurus, one would expect it to use its formidable looking claws and strong legs to rise to the ranks of an apex predator in the frigid wastes. However, in most cases it simply ignores those around it, and instead invests most of its time with its mate, protecting its clutch of eggs from the harsh environment of this ARK. The bond the mated pair shares is peculiar in that it seems to run far deeper than most other animals I’ve observed. In addition to the normal reactions in the prescence of a mate other animals recieve, they seem to be hard wired to protect their brood. A rush of adrenaline I’ve heard colloquially called “Mama’s Fury” causes them to be able to grapple with far larger threats than creatures of its size, all to protect their young. After all, there’s nothing more powerful than a mother’s love. Funnily enough, the closest living relative to this good mother is the skittish Oviraptor, which it seems to have a bitter rivalry with. Being such devoted parents, the Citipati are far more alert than the other creatures, and seem to have an immunity to the Oviraptor’s pacifying pheromones. I’ve seen these giants send their theiving cousins flying with a powerful kick, along with any other small creatures, or survivors, foolish enough to cause a commotion near the nest! Domesticated Short of the incredibly dangerous task of stealing an egg from the nest, it seems the best way to gain the trust of these parents is to lend a hand. Citipati don’t eat when they sit on the nest, taking turns with their mate to keep their eggs as safe as possible. This means that a seated Citipati tends to be quite hungry, and will happily accept food from humans. However, when their backs are turned to the easy meal, predators will take their chance to steal an egg. One must defend the nest from these pesky foes, but once these are dispelled, your efforts will be rewarded! Both parents will happily follow you home, trusting someone who cares just as much about their young. Once tamed, an Citipati makes the perfect nursery aid, hatching eggs of all species and feeding the newborns. They will also play with the young, imprinting on them so they can grow up big and strong! Interestingly, the protective parental instincts of the Citipati apply to babies of any species, and I’ve heard of tribes utilising teams of Procoptodons to carry babies into the battlefield in the prescence of Citipati, turning a mother’s love into a powerful weapon! Abilities and Controls I've considered both applications for PvP and PvE play with the Citipati. Please note these are only potential ideas, and the Citipati’s mechanics could always be balanced according to what would fit official play. Firstly, it would join the maewing as a valueable nursery aid, functioning like a blend of an Air Conditioner and the S+ Nanny, incubating eggs dropped near it, feeding babies too young to eat from troughs and helping to imprint on growing dinosaurs over time. In addition, both wild and tamed Citipatiwill recieve a buff when near eggs and babies, Mama's Fury. This buff will increase their damage resistance and damage output by 20%, and increases their speed and decrease their stamina usage by 10%. Not only will this help in the defense of nurseries from enemy factions trying to kill or steal babies, but it could also synergize with Procoptodons and Maewings, by bringing baby creatures into the battlefield, the Citipati could gain an increase to their combat abilities as long as there are living babies nearby. In terms of controls : - Left Click : A claw swipe. Slow, but will hit twice and has a base damage of 40 for each hit. Great for dealing with larger targets or small groups! This can harvest meat. - Right Click : A powerful kick that deals heavy knockback, the lower the drag weight of the target is compared to the Citipati, the further it gets knocked back. 15 base damage - C : A simple peck attack, that hits much faster than the claw swipe and is better suited to dealing with singular targets. 25 base damage - Spacebar : Basic Jump - X : Roar/Taunt, the Citipati will flare its tail feathers and give a shrill cry - Passive Buff : The buff Mama's Fury applies to tamed Citipati that have maturing babies or eggs within a certain radius of them. This will increase their damage resistance and damage output by 20%, and increase their speed and decrease their stamina usage by 10%. It will no longer apply if there are no babies or eggs near it Tamed Citipati can be told to sit via the radial menu, when sitting down, a short animation of it digging a nest plays, and once seated it functions like an air conditioner and incubates eggs, and imprints on babies near it Taming Method A creature with such powerful mechanics needs an equally challenging taming method to balance its useful features. Citipati will have two methods of taming, which are described below; to note, it's intended that the citipati will always spawn in mate boosted pairs, with one seated on a nest structure, and the other patrolling nearby Passive (mission style taming) As mentioned in the dossier, the Citipati could always use a helping hand in defending its nest from predators and getting food to eat. This taming method will involve an individual walking up to the seated individual on the nest, and feeding it kibble, meat or berries in order of preference. This will start the taming process. Similar to a megachelon, you will have to continue to defend the Citipati from attacks of oviraptors, troodon, and other egg eaters until they are completely tamed. Taming them in this method only requires you to feed the seated individual, and if successful, both the individuals of the pair will become tame! However, the hungry egg eaters will be relentless at trying to break the nest (rather than attacking the dino itself), and if you fail, both parents will become highly aggressive towards you. Run like the wind! Upon successful taming, the nest structure will destroy itself so that people don't get both the parents and a free egg out of the deal Passive (egg steal taming) Also mentioned in the dossier is the ability to tame a Citipati through stealing its eggs. This method would be different from conventional egg stealing tames, as the egg wouldn't be a physical item in the world. Instead, one must approach the seated Citipati and access the nest like a beaver dam. Taking the singular egg from inside this structure will destroy it, and apply Mama's Fury to both parents, and a huge chase will be in order. Be prepared, as the Citipati will continue to be aggressive even if you die. Once you've successfully stolen the egg, it will proceed much like any other egg stealing tame. This taming method only rewards you with an egg, you can't tame the parents in this way. Art (Pending recolour) The art below is from the last creature submission, Lost Island, and is based on a much more sub-tropical living bird, the forest red-tailed cockatoo. I will be updating and recolouring this to a more appropriate wintry fowl inspiration, the Willow Ptarmigan. Keep checking back every now and then! 6. Latenivenatrix Fidus "Loyal Hiding Huntress" Wild In the wild, Latenivenatrix Fidus seems to be a curious creature, following Survivors and observing them, but never attacking. From my own observation, they display intelligence equal to the average 11 year old and levels of empathy higher then many humans, to the point where they will save other dinosaurs from harm even if it is detrimental to the Latenivenatrix. They seem to enjoy colder regions more, as their dense coat of hair-like proto feathers doesn't do well in hotter climates. Domesticated When domesticated, Latenivenatrix Fidus is an exceptional lightweight mount, being faster than almost all other land animals, trading the ability to carry heavy loads for speed and agility. Their intelligence and loyalty make them equally great companions with, in some cases, enough of a bond with the survivor(s) that domesticated them that they will create whistling sounds, mimicking the whistles of the survivor(s). They can use this ability to both relay whistles to surrounding allies, being able to pick up noises from further away with their ear-like facial feathers, as well as whistling the nearest able-bodied creature to follow and protect survivors that are in the most danger. Their feathers provide two upsides, with the large flight feathers on their heads, tails and arms to scare away many of the small to medium sized creatures that can be found on the ARKs, while the majority of their feathers being more fur like and providing insulation to nearby survivors. Abilities Passive - Insulation: Provides a 35 to 45% insulation buff to the rider and all nearby survivors, whether they are in the rider's tribe or not. Utility - Mimicry: Can mimic whistles, allowing it to relay whistles to ally creatures outside of whistle range, while also allowing it to command other ally creatures to defend ally survivors that are in danger Utility - Dextrous: Can craft most items up to level 10 faster and/or for less resources. Agressive: Intimidation: can apply a fear debuff to most creatures up to the size of a trike or carno.
  7. Einiosaurus Sanguinhamus “buffalo lizard with a bloody hook” Temperament- Aggressive Diet- Omnivorous Tame method- Passive Preferred food- Vegetables, Raw Prime Meat or Raw Mutton Wild- Einiosaurus Sanguinhamus is a rather strange ceratopsid not only due to its strange headgear but also its diet. Its unique nasal horn in the shape of a hook is perfect for creating large gashes that cause its opponents to bleed out. While it lacks the triceratops’ ability to charge at its opponents, it more than makes up for it with its natural speed in comparison to the other ceratopsids of the ARKs. Einiosaurus also has a different adaptation to the rest of its brethren in that it is omnivorous, eating mainly plants, but eating any available meat to supplement its diet. Tamed- If a survivor can tame multiple Einiosaurus, then the strongest one will establish itself as the herd leader, and the rest will follow it in battle. A survivor will need to make sure that the Einiosaurus doesn’t notice them when taming due to its sheer territoriality, anyone unfortunate enough to anger the creature will find themselves trampled and torn to shreds. When tamed, an army of Einiosaurus can serve as an effective bodyguard against even the largest of combatants. Let's be real, ceratopsids aren’t really that useful in the game, so I wanted to give them one member that isn’t just a mediocre soaker. My main idea for it is a cross between the Deinonychus and Direbear. While aggressive once one gets too close to it like a Direbear and able to eat and gather meat and plants, and able to inflict bleed damage like the Deinonychus or Allosaurus, this creature won’t suffer from the downfalls of other herbivores that need veggie cakes to heal quickly, as it eats meat in order to replenish its health. And much like the Allosaurus or Deinonychus, it has an Alpha buff. It also moves faster than the Trike or Pachyrhino, making it more maneuverable than either.
  8. I think Ark needs more amphibians. And what better Amphibian, then Koolasuchus Hyperboreus? It's a large amphibian who's name translates as "Kool's Crocodile from the Artic". Also, I want to give a big shout out to DjayMasi and BangBooDoragon for helping design this amazing creature! Behavior: The Koolasuchus will normally patrol the cold rivers and lakes of the arks. when it spots potential prey, it will blast them with a freezing brine and then will come ashore to scoop them up with it's jaws and then it will drag them down into the freezing water so it can feast on it's flesh. When it is low on health, it will freeze itself and will begin to heal itself, similar to that of the Snow Owl. But unlike the Snow Owl, this healing uses food instead of Stamina, similar to that of the Daeodon. But out of these three, I think the better healer is the Daeodon. But unlike the Daeodon, it is basically a aquatic medic. Those bumps on the sides of it's body can release a special mist which can be used to heal nearby creatures. It functions similarly to the crags from Natural Selection. The bulges on the sides of it's body are used to store great amounts of water and can us either to spit either a cold brine that can freeze foes, or a toxic goo that has a chance to knock them out. It has a very powerful bite and can carry any creature that has a drag weight of 150 or less. It can carry flyers while on land and aquatic creatures while in the water. In this state, it can only use it's bite to damage the target that it is holding. However it does have a powerful tail swipe with some good knock back and can do a belly flop that can cause massive amounts of damage and has a chance to stun targets with a drag weight of 150 or less. Taming: In order to tame a Koolasuchus, you need to weaken it so that is forced to heal itself, then you need to passively feed it Meaty tributes. Here is a list of the recommended tributes from least effective to most effective: Gasbags bladder Allosaurus Brain Argentavis Talon Sarcosuchus Skin Tyrannosaurus Arm Spinosaurus Sail Basilosaurus Blubber Yutyrannus Lungs Basilisk Scale Corrupt Heart Tusoteuthis Tentacle Giganotosaurus Heart Alpha Carnotaurus Arm Alpha Megalodon Fin Alpha Karkinos Claw Alpha Tusoteuthis Eye Alpha Reaper King Barb Alpha Leedsichthys Blubber Once tamed, you find that the Koolasuchus is a vary useful creature and it can be ridden on by using a very special late game saddle. This saddle not only reduces it's weight, similar to the Hyeanadon's meat pack, but it also acts like a mobile refrigerator. But be careful, it is a very gluttonous omnivore and will ravenously eat anything in it's inventory. Although, it normally prefers eating tributes over anything else. Fortunately, you can access it's inventory and will be able to access a selection wheel that will allow you to choose what the Koolasuchus can, and can not consume. Plus, it's powerful jaws make it a excellent companion to help you with collecting valuable tributes. And something neat about the Koolasuchus is that it will passively produce Organic Polymer, similar to how the Basilosaurus will passively produce oil.

    Direbear

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Direbear Species: Arctodus Dirus Time: Mid Pleistocene / Early Holocene Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Territorial Wild: Found primarily among the Island’s mountain and tundra regions, Arctodus Dirus is an imposing creature. Like most of the creatures, that inhabit this island’s colder areas, it is a mammal, and this particular mammal is either at or near the top of that region’s food chain. Many on the island have started calling it Direbear, a name which appropriate both due to it’s enormity and it’s territorial nature. The Direbear ignores most non-hostile creatures while going about its daily routine of scavenging for meat and edible plantlife... That is, until intruders enter the territory it considers its own, at which point it viciously attacks. Most often, it is smartest to just run from an angry Direbear. Domesticated: Once tamed, the Direbear is a strong and reliable mount. it can carry vast quantities of goods, and can sprint for extremely long, nearly infinite periods. It is not the fastest creature from a hard stop, but after building up momentum, its sustained overland speed builds to among the best on the island. Of course, being able to feed a Direbear both meat and plantlife makes keeping one fairly convenient regardless of the environment.

    Mesopithecus

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Mesopithecus Species: Mesopithecus amicufur Time: Late Miocene/Late Pliocene Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Curious Wild: Mesopithecus amicufur is an omnivorous monkey species, primarily inhabiting the island's jungles. It is smaller than a human, but can move at about the same speed. It is not normally aggressive, but small groups of Mesopithecus can be troublesome. Additionally, their curious nature means they will try to steal anything they see fall to the ground. Unlike most creatures on the island, Mesopithecus seems to actively seek out nearby humans to interact with. They are very friendly and curious, but this same playful nature means that they occasionally throw their feces at humans. Some of my tribe mates become angry at this, but I am sure this is a sign of friendly socialization. Domesticated: A common pet, Mesopithecus is very easy to keep fed. It will eat nearly anything, though it prefers fruits to meats. Mesopithecus is most often used as a social companion, as it cannot carry enough to be a beast of burden, is not large enough to be ridden, and is not particularly useful for combat. It is, however, quite effective at vocally warning of incoming intruders with copious amounts of tossed fecal matter.

    Onychonycteris

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Bat Species: Onychonycteris specuncola Time: Eocene Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Onychonycteris specuncola is one of the few omnivores I've seen on the island. They seem to live primarily off the mushrooms and moss within the caves, but they attack almost any non-insect on sight. They avoid Titanoboa whenever possible which leads me to believe the snake to be a natural predator of Onychonycteris. While flying in the dark caves would be difficult for any creature, Onychonycteris ability to use echolocation has allowed it to adapt perfectly. It can be found idly flying around the caves as often as it can be found hanging from bits of the cave ceilings. Domesticated: Not large enough to be used as mounts, and not strong enough to carry much, Onychonycteris still works well as a guard animal. Whether protecting a vacant home, or members of a tribe, their relatively vicious nature has its uses.

    Megatherium

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Megatherium Species: Megatherium Formipavor Time: Late Pleocene-Early Holocene Diet: Omnivore, but primarily Herbivore Temperament: Passive, but aggressive to insects Wild: Megatherium Formipavor is one of the larger mammals on the island. This is most shocking because it is essentially a giant sloth... if you crossbred it with an elephant and a bear! Because of its size and girth, the Megatherium is uncommonly resistant to being knocked unconscious. Despite primarily being an herbivore, a typical Megatherium is very intent on consuming the island's many insects. It is particularly adept at removing their insides without damaging the shell, maximizing extraction of chitin. The otherwise slow and peaceful Megatherium becomes faster and more aggressive in the presence of these creatures. Domesticated: Megatherium is an incredibly useful creature to tame, so long as you don't intend to fight other tribes. Its enormity, high resistance to torpor, and voracious attitude toward insects (and arachnids) makes it ideal for farming large quantities of chitin from the bugs of the island, or simply defending against them!
