  1. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! Upcoming Mindwipe! PC player will receive a free forced mindwipe this upcoming patch. This mindwipe is being conducted due to changes that were made in our last patch regarding the altering of weight values of armor. In the interest of fairness we would like to allow players to redo their characters to compensate for the altered weights of these armor sets. This free mindwipe will come to console in the patch that correlates with these weight changes, which will be mentioned in the respective console patch notes threads at that time. Xbox Sale! 2. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! Community Stream Roundup #1! On May 10th we had our first Community Livestream. Thank you to all of those who attended and participated! The community team had a lot of fun and we hope you did as well. If you weren't able to catch the stream you can watch the video-on-demand on our Twitch page or by clicking on the video below. The stream began with a brief round-up of community news from Jen. ZenRowe then introduced us to two mods during the Mod Showcase: Anzah and Immersive Taming. From there the community team introduced a special guest, GGFizz, who is a YouTuber and Twitch streamer known for his impressive building skills in ARK. Zen and Jen challenged Fizz to a building contest to see who could build the best dinosaur using only ARK building materials. Ultimately the Twitch chat decided the Doedicurus built by Fizz was the winner, beating out the blue Dodo by Zen and Jen. Running a bit overtime we jumped into the showcase section with Chris. Here we displayed some of the amazing ARKworks created by the community that you sent to us via email. We even chose our top favourites to receive some prizes! We're very excited to see that this first stream was a success and our next community stream will take place on May 24th. We hope to see you there! We are accepting any type of ARK related fanart to be featured in the showcase section of the stream and entries are always open. This can be drawings, videos, builds, ANSEL screenshots, handmade crafts, anything ARK related! You can submit your ARKwork to our streaming email address: arkfans@studiowildcard.com Be sure to follow us on our Twitch page so you don't miss a stream! twitch.tv/survivetheark The Great Migration #3! Once again it is time to remove some of our lower population legacy ARK servers on PC, Xbox, and PS4 from our Official legacy network. Over time the ARK population has migrated from legacy to non-legacy and in its wake left many servers with low populations for 0-1 players in a significant amount of cases. Here is a quick breakdown on how this process works: Taking Down Low Pop Servers With calculations based on sustained player-count as well as popularity of game mode we will be removing lower population legacy servers, most of which retain a 0-1 player concurrent population. These servers will be taken offline on June 12th. Any existing server that is not considered a low pop server and is not taken down at this time will still exist on the Legacy network. Legacy servers will continue to remain on a separate cluster from the new cluster, which means you will not be able to transfer anything between Legacy servers and the new servers. Servers Up for Deletion Below is a complete list of the LEGACY servers that will be deleted come June 12th. You have from now until then to move your belongings onto a server not present on this list. Please click one of the links below. They are separated by platform (PC, Xbox, and PS4). Most Popular Servers To avoid players having to move again in future, we're publishing the most popular servers across all platforms. These servers are the top 30 most active Legacy servers on each platform and are ones most likely to be safe from any future server removals. PC: Xbox: PS4: How To Move Servers If you are unfamiliar with the process, you are able to upload your items, creatures, and player through the Obelisk terminal, supply drops, as well as the Tek Transmitter. Survivors are advised to use Cross-ARK immediately to relocate their belongings onto a server that is not included in our take-down list above. Allocation of New Servers Our new method of onlining new servers has been through what we call "FRESH" servers. These servers are added to the main network but have downloads disabled for a period of 60 days. After 60 days that restraint is removed and they are officially joined to the main network. We plan to online set of Fresh servers on a monthly basis for all platforms so stay tuned for more information on when new ones will be added if you're looking for a fresh start. Server Saves of Deleted Servers We will make the save files available as soon as we can. We will host the PC files which anyone can download and then you are welcome to re-host the save file for your own use. We'll include a link to where you can download server saves in this post when they are available. Nitrado will also be able to provide the saves for use on Nitrado servers for console, as they have done in the past. Upcoming New Speciality Servers! Speciality servers are alternate game modes for ARK that last for a short period of time. Each new theme will bring on a new set of challenges different from that of servers currently available. However, these seasonal servers will wipe and change theme after a determined period of time. We're looking for input from you today. We've set up a thread and we'd appreciate if you could drop your suggestions into the separate thread below. Changes will revolve around edits that can be made to the existing config. These types of changes can include many things like: tribe/alliance size, anything related to dino stats and taming, server rates, etc. If you have a game mode that you think would be fun to play be sure to leave your comment in the thread: Mod Community Updates! Zen here with another addition to the Wildcard Workshop tutorial series where we look at adding config options to mods. You'll find it's easier than you expect but there are some rules to how it works. Files are also included in the tutorial post if desired. As a reminder, the Mod tutorial contests have been extended to be full month submission periods and the awards have been doubled, so there is not a new contest starting this week. The current freestyle contest is still accepting submissions until the end of the month. Xbox Sale! ARK and its expansions are currently on sale on Xbox during the ID@Xbox Game Fest sale! 5. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! Upcoming New Servers! Beginner Servers: Tomorrow, May 8th at approximately 10 am PST we will be launching a new set of servers called Beginner servers! Beginner Official Servers are an experience for new ARK players to test the waters without the threat of thoroughly developed tribes. Unlike our regular servers, these have undergone some changes. First of all, there have been some limitations on how much a player or dino can progress. Player levels hit their cap at 44 and the highest encounter possible for wild creatures is level 30. Tamed creatures can receive up to an additional maximum of 30 levels. Due to the progression limits, some engrams are not achievable through levelling up but are found via supply crates. Some other changes include the disabling of alliances and tribe sizes have been limited to 5 members maximum. Once established on a beginner server survivors can choose to exit into the rest of the official server network by uploading their character and moving to another server for the full ARK experience. Downloads of any kind are permanently disabled on Beginner servers so once you upload your character and leave the server you can't come back. *Beginner* servers will be available to play on all platforms (PC and consoles) tomorrow! Tune into our Twitter account for further release information. https://twitter.com/survivetheark Speciality Servers: Speciality servers are alternate game modes for ARK that last for a short period of time. Last week we made a change to the Mod Tutorial Contests. We increased the length of time for contests going forward to be a full month, and we doubled the awards. This should make it easier for people to participate without feeling like they have to sacrifice on their mods, and for non-native English speakers who found it difficult to put something together under the previous time constraints. This change takes effect with the current Freestyle tutorial contest which is now accepting submissions until the end of the month. Now, it's time to announce the winner of the 4th Mod tutorial contest. The theme was "Space Day," a day dedicated to math, science, technology, and inspiring people to take an interest. The winning submission was a collaborative effort between RedDwarf and Pleasure for a Solar Panel mod. They also included a bonus tutorial video that shows the entire process of creating the custom assets for the mod! All of the submissions and links to the tutorials are available in the contest thread. ARK: Superfan Collector's Edition! 9. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! The Community Crunch is where we share important things going on with ARK, as well as host contests and showcase creations made by the community! Console TLC 2 Patch Soon! On April 26th we will be updating both Xbox and PS4 with the TLC 2 patch. It is important to note that this Thursday's console patch will be a BIG update. The base game for Xbox will be a 27gb update, Scorched Earth and Aberration will be 5gb and 8gb respectively. We don't have a current indication as to the size of the PS4 patch but we estimate it will be a large update, however not as large as Xbox. The size of these updates is due to the fact that all of the maps in the game have been updated and therefore the files for every map must be downloaded and replaced on your console. In addition to the TLC update the patch will also bring the following changes: - Enabling item transfers and the vanilla-version of aberrant creatures to be moved to Aberration servers. This means that you'll be able to take over your regular Spino to an Aberration server. - Preventing people from building within the Ragnarok Puzzle cave, so if you store any structures or creatures down there, make use of this time to relocate them ASAP as once this update goes live on console, that will no longer be possible. It is important to note that the Turret Update will not go live on console with this update, but instead a future one. You can read the patch notes in their entirety for this Thursday patch on the respective patch notes thread: Community Livestreams! We have some exciting news to share with you today! Beginning in May the community team will be doing biweekly livestreams. During these livestreams we will have Zen Rowe, Chris, and Jen bringing ARK news, and celebrating modding and the community as a whole every other week. We'll be playing ARK, showing off mods, and showing off your community creations for all to see. Survivors are invited to join us in the chat, and sometimes even in-game, to play and chat with the community team and other developers. At this time we're going to begin gathering up your community creations to be displayed on stream. We are accepting any type of ARK related fanart. This can be drawings, videos, builds, ANSEL screenshots, handmade crafts, anything ARK related! We will no longer be running Community Crunch contests here on the forums. The Community Crunch will transition into being our weekly news post, while the biweekly streams will become our new Community celebration initiative. We will instead be running contests on the livestreams, with a chance to win something special if your submission is the best of the bunch. You can submit your ARKwork to our streaming email address: arkfans@studiowildcard.com We'll be announcing our streaming schedule in next weeks crunch so check back in for that next Monday! Be sure to follow us on our Twitch page so you don't miss a stream! twitch.tv/survivetheark Mod Tutorial Contest Update! For our "whacky buffs" themed tutorial contest we got some pretty hilarious submissions. Thank you for those, I had a good laugh 9_9. The winner of the third mod tutorial contest is RedDwarf with his ridiculous Rocket Poop buff! We also have three additional runner-up submissions. All of these tutorials had different ways to implement these buffs and showed different information and techniques. Links to all of the tutorials can be found in the contest post below, and remember that next Monday, April 30th, is the submission deadline for the current contest for Space Day props! Next week I will have a new Wildcard Workshop video ready for you, we will be continuing our coverage of Replication with some practical examples. ARK: Evolution Event! Our next Evolution Event will take place from the 27th of April at 1 PM EST until Monday the 30th at 3 PM EST. All Official Servers will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes: 2x Harvesting Rate 2x Taming Rate 2x EXP Rate That's it for this post guys! 13. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! The Community Crunch is where we share important things going on with ARK, as well as host contests and showcase creations made by the community! Code of Conduct Changes! Today we are announcing our new Code of Conduct for our Official Server network. This Code of Conduct can be found in its entirety at the top of our website under the Support link. New Incident Reporting System! In addition to the Code of Conduct changes, we'd like to introduce you to our new reporting system, currently in beta and for PC players only. https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/incident-reports/ This is our new Incident Reports area. You can find it on the forums by hovering over the Support button at the top of the page and clicking 'Report PC Abuse'. The Customer Support link has been moved to underneath the Help sub-section under Support. When submitting an Incident Report, please make sure to provide as much information as possible. Here is a sample report. This is how your report will appear to our Game Moderators: You should provide any and all evidence of the reason you are reporting someone in the form of screenshots and/or videos. Evidence helps our Game Moderators collect proof of someone breaking the rules and allows them to take action more quickly. While in this beta process we are accepting PC reports only using the Incident Report system. Any and all reports of hacking, exploiting, griefing, and misconduct on Official Servers should be done so through the Incident Report submission process. These changes to the Code of Conduct and our Incident Reporting system are an effort to improve the process of the reporting system and the health of our Official Server network. We look forward to working with survivors to achieve a better playing environment for all players and we thank you for your patience during this growth process. Console Transfers and TLC 2! We are now targeting the console patch (Xbox and PS4) release during the week of April 23th and will keep you posted about more accurate release dates once we get closer to the date. This is later than what we reported in our Crunch last week, but we are confident that we will be able to meet the deadline of the week of the 23rd over the previous week. With this update, we'll also be: - Enabling item transfers and the vanilla-version of aberrant creatures to be moved to Aberration servers. This means that you'll be able to take over your regular Spino to an Aberration server. - Preventing people from building within the Ragnarok Puzzle cave, so if you store any structures or creatures down there, make use of this time to relocate them ASAP as once this update goes live on console, that will no longer be possible. All Official Servers will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes: 2x Harvesting Rate 2x Taming Rate 2x EXP Rate Wildcard Workshop & Tutorial Contest #4: Spaaaaaace! Today in the workshop we begin to tackle the topic of Replication, how code functions in a multiplayer environment. We go into a broad overview of the different methods available for replication, and my band of merry modders helps to give some visualization to how this system works. In the next video, we'll dive into some actual practical examples. Next month, May 4th is Space Day! I could think of no more appropriate a day to focus some mod tutorials around to inspire people to take an interest in math, science, and technology. So our theme for the fourth modding tutorial contest is Space Day Props! ARK is on Sale for Xbox! The ARK season pass and all its expansions are currently on sale in the Xbox Digital Store until 16th of April 2018! Only have a few more hours to take advantage of this one! ARK: Season Pass ARK: Aberration ARK: Scorched Earth Community Contests! In case you missed our post last week, we're going to be pausing our weekly community contests (ARKitect & Nvidia Ansel). We'll be looking at new ways which we can directly engage the community, as well as share the best content that you guys produce through different initiatives. We enjoy hosting these contests and love seeing what you've come up with, so hang tight to see what we have in store! That's it for this post guys!
