  1. If that’s the case then they should have started to lay the groundwork for console implementation much earlier in the process to allow for a platform wide release. It’s no secret to anyone at this point that Sony in particular will drag out the process as a one part quality assurance, one part sony being sony deal. Instead they let snail continue trucking them forward and in doing so disappointed two thirds (or I guess two fourths since switch is a thing) of their entire playerbase.
  2. Some games do just fine with crossplay (Chivalry, path of titans, warframe). The problem is that the very territorial and competitive nature of ark is so innately hostile to any sort of late start that crossplay ONLY works at any decent capacity when everyone starts on an even ground. Players new to ark as a whole are already at a massive disadvantage compared to long time players, now those that are new and aren’t on Pc are at a bigger disadvantage and those that are on PlayStation even moreso.
  3. Ok now this is just hilarious. Why even bother to introduce crossplay at all if you knew somewhere along the line there was never going to be a same day release across platforms? It’s not like you lot didn’t know until the very last second that there would be troubles. Now your console consumer base will be more or less relegated to playing the console only servers because, as other people have pointed out, console players will do their damndest to deny the console consumer base access to anything. This is on top of having at the bare minimum a month’s head start since we all know the release date in November will turn into the release date in December. My heart goes out to the poor console playing fools that actually decided to jump over to ASA.
  4. It kinda smacks of snail being keen on trying to cash in as much as possible before people realize that they’ve been sold the exact same mess in a slightly prettier package. No doubt there’s going to be a ton of returns if the game really is the same buggy mess but maybe, just maybe, enough people will stick to it either because they missed the refund window, because they want to go back to official, or because of sunk cost from holding out so long that they’ll come out of the situation with a profit. Personally I think it’s an idiotic decision and if wildcard had any sense or integrity they’d be fighting tooth and nail to try and get snail to reconsider this boneheaded decision on top of the mass grave of other boneheaded decisions.
  5. You’re missing the point. No one knows what to expect in terms of performance and it’s a worrying prospect given the track record of this company and its parent company. Months of no substantial proof that things will run as they should from wildcard doesn’t instill confidence
  6. Why exactly is being able to view a wiki page in a different color newsworthy? Why is there no pertinent information for the people wondering about ASA a little over a week from the proposed release time?
  7. This is what companies need to realize. I mean let’s take a look at a vastly, and I do mean VASTLY more successful game company: from software. When from was in the process of bringing out Elden ring they were pretty consistent in dropping trailers and talking about the game pre release to dredge up hype from fans of the older souls series and newcomers alike. ER drops, it gets wildly successful despite it being a change in the souls formula, it gets GOTY. But eventually the flare dies down and numbers see a dip. In February from dropped a dlc (arena matches) and announced an expansion (shadow of the erdtree). Player numbers spiked because of the hype and the new game mode. However since that February from has remained stone silent on SotET and player retention has basically tanked outside of diehard fans or people getting it on steam sales. There’s a general sense of malaise and malcontent because they. Won’t. Show. Anything. Now, if a big boy company like from which is widely renowned for its quality games can’t keep the hype train going by properly showing fans what they want to see what hope does wildcard- who’s only claims to fame are ark (a broken mess) and atlas (a more broken reskin of ark/ripoff of sea of thieves) have?
  8. They’ve shown literally nothing relevant to the game. Artistic works aren’t in game works, and a pretty dinosaur artwork does nothing to show you whether or not it will actually function properly.
  9. Please no, I only have so many good years left in me. Any more and I’ll have to stop joking about becoming a lich and actually make it a reality
  10. I feel like I age an extra five years whenever people reference Vin and immediately go the the FF family thing. Sometimes I remember that there are people younger than Saving private Ryan, Pitch black and xXx that are of legal drinking age and my soul shudders in anguish.
  11. Funny thing about posting exclusively on my phone: I can go to work or the gym or anywhere else really and still dunk on everything I dislike without missing a beat. Ironic that you tell people to do something with their lives because they’re complaining on a forum while doing just that.
  12. Nah, they’re too busy facepalming everything. Honestly it’s kinda funny how far they’ll go to make their displeasure at people not praising wildcard like the second coming known but won’t verbally communicate their actual gripes with what people are saying.
  13. Show me where I said they shut off the servers randomly. I said they would do it if they deem it financially lucrative. Whether they give notice or not is irrelevant in the face of that fact. If the cost of maintenance outweighs the revenue generated by keeping it up or would detract from another project they deem more beneficial then the server goes against the interest of the company and has to go. An admin may have to rely on personal judgment, however that judgment generally will be quicker than what you get trying to get in touch with wildcard for support. Even now there are people who submitted a ticket months ago about a problem and were never addressed. Your presumption that most unofficials have mods also shows that you have zero clue how things work beyond the pc sphere. When two thirds of unofficial servers in totality are as of this time not mod compatible it’s ridiculous to claim “most” servers use mods. Come Asa perhaps but now? No. Lastly, what is even the point of mentioning the license? I know full well that they can bring down any and all servers. I literally stated as much when I said they can pull it all down. The crux of my point is that no matter how you spin it as long as you play the game someone somewhere will be able to determine whether or not you play should you choose to play online.
  14. “Lol”, said Snail and WC as they continued burying their heads in the sand. “lmao” they chortled as the people that they financially depend on continued to demand something tangible to soothe their worries now that they had nothing to distract them. LadyTeruki was onto something when she pointed out how empty the CC is without the vote stuff.
  15. Renaming twitter and making absolutely horrendous Elden ring builds
  16. I always found it kinda funny. Back when I was doing official pvp with my friends my second passtime after making maze bases filled with useless junk to sap resources was intentionally getting myself infected so I could try and suicide charge into people’s bases to infect them. Since my character at the time was a small gnarled goblin of a thing pumped to the gills with nothing but speed (now made faster by the sickness) and health I was a pain to pin down unless the other tribe had turrets and had enough health to soak up decent damage. I died a lot in those days but every person that received the blessing of nurgle more than made up for it
  17. Unless those people are the game developers you’ve basically made a nonstatement. Let me break down what I said since you apparently missed the point: You aren’t free from someone else’s whims by playing official. The COMPANY also controls whether or not you play. Even more so than a private server owner in fact. Unlike a single individual who plays alongside you the developers and owners of the franchise are more concerned with running their business than they are your personal happiness, and trying to claim unofficial is somehow flawed for being subject to others whims is just silly. A server owner can kick you from a server or shut down that server. A company has the ability to stop you from playing anywhere with anyone else and shut it all down entirely if they deem it lucrative to do so. As they clearly demonstrated last week. You also seem to have the weird idea that all unofficial servers are crazy boosted or even boosted at all. Some people just want a personal server.
  18. Really? Because your hard work went up in smoke last week. Or did you just forget everything you make is also subject to an entity outside of your control? That being a company with whom you can’t be an actual friend because a company isn’t something you build a true rapport with on the level you do with another human.
  19. Pretty sure Vas as an individual that shelled out hard earned coin to buy the game has as much of a voice as you do. But hey, ride that high horse all you want, just be sure to put some pillows down so when you fall on your arse you don’t end up more butthurt than you already are.
  20. It keeps them there noglins from invadin muh brain with their psychic brain waves I swear! *cracks open another bud* I mean I get it but with how frequently I see it happen and the speed at which those respective bugs are addressed just rankles me a bit. I’d rather the beneficial but harmless bugs be put on the back burner and all of that effort go to the big stuff first.
  21. I was going to say “this is wildcard we’re talking about” until I remembered that game developers as a whole have an uncanny ability to immediately lock onto and patch beneficial but generally harmless bugs or glitches while leaving game breaking crap alone for months or years.
  22. Because I enjoy the company and find a sick catharsis in the negatively as much as I find joy in the positivity.
  23. Few are more vicious than the man who allowed himself to get drunk on power and was forced to wake up to the hangover of weakness. Sadly enough this’ll also be a problem in pve. People WILL spam pillars and foundations everywhere and far more than they ever did in ASE. The brawls and petty squabbles for territory as everyone scrambles to either reclaim their old spots or take the places they wanted but could never have will be beyond ugly.
