  1. I may just be misunderstanding this but you might want to either invest in a LAN setup or check your hdd if any game you have takes several days to update, my dude. LAN in particular is quite nice, better game stability and even the really hefty updates for games will take maybe an hour at most if you aren't slowing the process by using other applications.
  2. Honestly I can't quite understand the appeal of a loadout mannequin to behind with. Seasoned players generally understand that weight is important to level so it's not as if it's hard to carry around the stuff needed for the day to day or the odd impromptu scrap with a player or dino. If the point is having stuff for raiding at the ready then it's not hard to have a dedicated vault for raiding gear or just using a purlovia to store your "ruin someone's day" loadout.
  3. A bit hard to understand you when you go on a ramble. Keep in mind I said that more people seem to be deriding the entitled players rather than calling the game flawless. Do also try to note that I specifically stated after my stance on solo play that it differs from person to person. Assuming English isn't your native language that means that each person may have a different view on how much they enjoy solo play. For you it may be better, but for someone such as myself who is used to regular human interaction a gaming environment that is primarily tooled for multiple people may feel dull when played alone for an extended period. As for the little snipe about my social life I assure you I get by quite fine. Assuming one has a grasp of societial habits and norms above that of a half eaten soggy bagel there should be a clear cut difference between me and actual real life friends hitting the bar and me enjoying a conversation with someone possibly thousands upon thousands of miles away. I enjoy time with my actual friends, however I also enjoy chatting with a player I met on my server who lives all the way in Queensland, Australia. There are different takes and stories from different walks of life and it's refreshing to hear them. My stance on toxicity still stands, the issues addressed need to primarily be those of game functionality rather than the myriad of screeching about events. It also needs to be done with some level of respect, elsewise the person or entity you're attempting to parlay with may very well close up shop altogether and deny the service that was previously offered out of petty spite. Unless contractually obligated not to do so Wildcard could very easily shut off the servers whenever they please. The only thing that really prevents this is the desire for more revenue from ark 2, not fear of making people angry but the fear of not making money. For all we know we could be a handful of toxic comments away from someone important at wildcard getting a wild hare up their proverbials and deciding punishing the players is more rewarding than the cash. It's extremely unlikely; but humans are exceedingly petty. So why risk it when a more mature approach could achieve better results?
  4. I think fjordur's the last one we're getting on console
  5. I dont think a lot of people were really giving off good vibes, more so pointing out people were fussing about things that were inconsequential compared to actual issues in the game. By and large people in the ccs can get pretty toxic while also making demands for event extensions and EVO as opposed to, say, fixing rubber-banding or texture issues. Doesn't really strike me as a good idea to spit in someone's face and then demand a free cookie in the same breath. As for playing solo, that really only works if you're not one for social interaction in game. Ark is one of those games that can feel pretty dead if you're for certain the only person that'll be on. Granted it differs from person to person, but that's just my two cents on the matter. Pretty sure that unofficals that people pay to have will still be a thing though seeing as that's a service provided by a third party as opposed to wildcard proper.
  6. I'd imagine that it will happen eventually. Such is the fate of all games where the company provides servers, sooner or later they gotta go for one reason or another. It's really more of a matter of when rather than if. Could be an hour before Ark 2; could be several years from now. Time will tell. Either way my advice to players as a whole is to not get too emotionally invested. At the end of the day while we've all likely sunken absolutely grotesque amounts of time into this game it important to remember that it's all just pixels in the end.
  7. This. I think a lot of people tend to gloss over this fact because they can't fathom either being part of a community or paying for a server. I can understand where they're coming from, not everyone wants to play alone or has the disposable income, but those making demands also seem to be somewhat ignorant of the fact that the point of pulled support is to drive you to the newer product. Chances are WC won't be adding things like event colors as a permanent part of the game or anything like that because they want everyone off of ark 1 and on ark 2 as quickly as possible. The only people that will have a strong chance to preserve their years of hard work AND still enjoy the benefits of events will be the chads that have stuck to solo or the poor suckers like myself that opened their wallets to line the pockets of server rental services.
  8. Honestly this would be a really nice idea. I'd kill to be able to plant a tree or two somewhere in my base. Be really nice if we got seeds of different species implemented as well. A base designed to incorporate cherry blossom trees or those trees that make up the ember forest on crystal isles would be quite eye catching with the right decor.
  9. By all means if someone genuinely enjoys the way official is then that's their right. But you're striking a really important point here by bringing up the intention of the devs. The second that a player says they want to play it "as the devs intended" they forfeit the right to complain if the developer intends to withhold something nonessential to the running of the game. Once you put control of all in game resource functions in the hands of the game developers then that's that.
  10. That's what I've been saying for weeks now, but some people apparently take it as a weird point of pride to stay in official while simultaneously remaining blind to the fact that fussing about how they want an EVO every cc flies directly in the face of a core aspect of official. It's an event, enjoy it when it crops up if you can but don't act as if its mandatory. If you genuinely can't get by in official without evos then don't play official, simple as. Additionally people need to stop implying that the devs are somehow malicious or neglectful of the players just because rate boosts aren't a constant. At worst they're inept at fixing core issues with the game itself, something they need to work on. But constant derision in lieu of actual criticism runs the risk of turning the devs into the kind of people that these guys insist that they are. I mean I'm not sure about anyone else, but I know that I atleast would struggle to love a fanbase I had if every time I tried to say something I got hit with a deluge of comments that can be boiled down to some iteration of "your product sucks and I think you dislike us because you didn't give us the free thing we don't need".
  11. Considering they couldn't even be bothered to check the comment section before also trying to take a shot at me about needing to read it I get the feeling that's probably not a new occurrence to them. I guess the modus operandi is just to shoot off at the mouth and pray no one fact checks. Maybe chuck in a snide insult or strawman argument to be cheeky as they did with Alysson.
  12. See these seem like valid complaints. It's a 6 year old game with constant bugs and glitches in spite of receiving consistent support. Anywhere else most of not all of the primary issues people have would have been ironed out by like year two, maybe three. Though I feel like the problem is more so the game itself rather than the servers. To me it feels as though wildcard as a company delegates too much towards pumping out new content and trying to generate hype via social media platforms as opposed to biting the bullet and closing shop for a few days or weeks to try and fix their coding. Would people get mad at having no access to the game? Oh yeah. They'd be rabid. Especially if wildcard didn't back everything up before hand or maybe give acces to cryopods to those not at the tek stage for the duration of the fix. But in the long run it'd probably increase the game's longevity.
  13. Nah, I just don't like watching people hem and haw and hurl insults while also keeping their hands out for a treat they never needed. Rake wildcard over the coals for the buggy mess of a game we play, not because you or some other schmuck had other matters to attend to during a rate boost.
  14. Third comment from the top was fussing over the briefness of the event. Perhaps take your own advice before you presume to tell others what they need to do. As for "self righteous" by all means explain where I'm doing acting so. Last I checked the bulk of my commentary has been on how entitled people get when there's an easier solution to the problems they tend to talk about. Rude? Probably. Self righteous? Hardly.
  15. Sparse though the CC may be at times it's comforting to know that there's always a healthy dose of salt from entitled players screaming for more boosted rates rather than just leaving official to look forward to in these threads.
  16. Sad but true. Honestly I'm not sure where people get the idea that things should suddenly change to suit their desires because of a personal matter. If it's really that insanely important to someone then they make time. No job requires you be there every second of every day. And if for some godforsaken reason someone decides they NEED to indulge in the event then they can either burn PTO or take a sick day. It'd be a massively silly waste of leave in my opinion, but it's a lot less silly than saying a game company should extend an event because your boss needed you at the office.
  17. Kinda silly to ask for an extension for a personal problem don't you think?
  18. Breed for it chief. Unless you're running a solo or unofficial server your odds of getting whatever color you desire is up to the whims of rng. Sad but true. The cool downs they're supposed to have between shocks don't even matter because they ALWAYS travel in packs that will chain spam to cover eachothers cooldowns. If it ain't a squid, basilo, or a drake with good oxygen then you're pretty much screwed the second they or eels catch you. Worse still the easiest of those options to get can't dive deep without taking damage so they're functionally useless for deep sea dives where you'd more readily encounter those vile creatures while searching for loot. You'd thing we'd have some sort of insulation suit or brew to counter it.
  19. That's kinda what I was getting at. Adding a full on presumably traditional western hexepedal dragon would be pointless considering wyverns fill the niche the other guy was talking about to a T. Breath attack (multiple variations at that), cool factor, flight, it's all there. Add to that the fact that we have multiple members of the draconis line and there's really no point in trying to add in what amounts to a wyverns with more limbs.
  20. The time is likely on twitter however if you play unofficial don't be surprised if it takes longer, the service providers always drag their feet
  21. So the vote was rigged because you personally failed to understand it amongst a sea of people. Where you one of those kids in school who assumed the other kid was cheating because he knew how to set up a two way trap in connect four?
  22. So just spit balling here but I'm guessing this means that this'll be a tame with a tight turn radius which is definitely appreciated in aerial combat. Perhaps I'm overthinking it but the drained meat bit in the domestication section seems to imply that it might actually have a use as a jerky producer as well, something I mentioned in the past as being something that would be useful in the bloodstalker given its sanguinivorous nature. Would be nice to see this added. Kinda let down at the lack of a midair grapple but overall I'm quite pleased with what I'm seeing thus far.
