  1. Today I found a rex saddle in a ringed red beacon that landed right near my base! That's pretty rare on its own, but the best part is it has over 60 armor! My best crafted ones have a bit over 37 (my blueprint is... Not the best). Obviously, I dyed and put it on Nightshade right away, because he's my best rex and deserves all the good things.
  2. Finished raising the health-mutated tek rex (his name is Beast, by the way. Real original, I know). Bred him with two of the females because the rest was on cooldown but I didn't feel like waiting. The babies predictably hatched without new mutations, so I killed them (and I will kill any that don't get a new mutation on health. Or melee). Aside from that didn't really do anything.
  3. Today: on Extinction tamed a carno (level 100 pre-tame, 140 post-tame). A nice step towards building a dino army. On Valguero: finished hatching yesterday's tek rex eggs, killed the hatchlings because no new mutations, plus the only female inherited mothers low health. Half-raised the new bronto, killed the old one because I no longer need him (harvested his dermis, though - he really did have pretty colors, letting them disappear completely would have been a waste). Moved the new bronto closer to his mother (who is also his future mate). Half-finished raising the health mutated tek rex (still can barely believe that I really have him. I mean, HEALTH mutation! On one of my rexes! How awesome is that?)
  4. Today: on Extinction tamed a pair of pachies as a beginning of the dino army that'll accompany me on my journey to finding, taming and leading gachas. Not the best tames, but they'll have to do. Tried to tame a gacha that spawned nearby, but wasn't successful (underestimated just how quickly the damn thing loses taming progress). On Valguero: got eggs from my ankylos and tek rexes, put them in the hatchery, refilled the trough with berries for the bronto I'm raising, unpodded the mutated tek rex to raise him a bit more. That's it.
  5. Yesterday: decided that even though server-hopping isn't for me, taming stuff on other servers and bringing it home certainly is. Created a character on one of the Ragnarok servers, tamed a dodo, uploaded it, downloaded it back on Valguero. Just to check if it works fine. Found a more or less non-laggy Extinction server, created a character there, started to set up a base (small, not gonna need a lot of space). Back on Valguero hatched 7 tek rex eggs (1 non-mutated female, one female with weight mutation but very cool color, the rest were non-mutated males so I killed them), finished raising three 130-145 wild-egg deinons, found a nearly-expired 145 deinon egg in the inventory of one of my low-level ones (put it there when I was relocating to the new base and forgot about it), hatched it, it was a brown fmale. Gonna raise her later. Hatched a bronto, male, mostly mother's stats, gonna raise him later. Oh, and killed my old low-level deinons because why would I keep them around? They weren't fit for breeding, and I wasn't attached to them (the only deinon I'm attached to is Nightmare Jenny, who was my first deinon ever, and is my second oldest rideable tame (the second oldest tame of any kind is Eggvelyne the slayer, a dodo)). Today: finished the house on Extinction, built a fence around it enough to keep raptors out, tamed a tek parasaur and a dilophosaur. Planning to tame some raptors. Or trikes. Or whatever - it doesn't matter, as long as it's something that would be able to keep me safe while I search for gachas, tame gachas, and lead them to the nearest terminal. Because that's what I came to Extinction for. On Valguero today I hatched four deinon eggs from my high-level deinons (two of the babies were worthy of keeping), four argent eggs (one worthy of keeping), two ankylo eggs (none worthy), and four tek rex eggs (HEALTH MUTATION! FINALLY! AND ON A MALE, TOO! Once he grows up he'll become my new breeding male).
  6. Today: hatched two level 130 wild-egg deinons (both worthy of keeping, yay!), 2 argents (1 blue, other inherited father's colors so I killed it), 1 bronto (dad's stats, killed it), 2 allos (killed both). Finished raising my mutated ankylo (dark blue spike tips). Decided to travel to another server for the first time ever, hope everything would be fine. Transfer was fine. My decision to pick an Extinction server as my first server-hopping target was not. Absolute lagfest. Once I tame myself a pair of gachas I will never go to Extinction again. And this is how my server-hopping adventure ended: Lost due to getting disconnected and killed by an araneo: a real pretty allo, a doed, 2 empty pods, chitin pants, a GPS, a spyglass. Lost due to me losing the will to keep searching: an argy (it was my first one. Oh well, at least it wasn't my new blue one. Got enough sense not to take THAT one where I can lose her!). Lost due to the whole thing: my will to try new things. Thanks, but from now on I will just stick to what I know: playing on Valguero and breeding things that I can get there. Obtained: nothing. Except for the taxidermy stuff and dino leash engrams. Should have just hopped on, unlocked those and go right back home - would have saved me time (and dinos. And pants).
  7. Today in ARK I: Lost about 6 cryopods (one with a low-level but mutated baby therizino), as well as a freshly made 140% shotgun and all the ammo for it. And chitin pants. And a whip. And my level 2 chibi ankylo. And a pretty good crossbow. And 300 narcotics. But at least I didn't lose my precious tek rex! Now, how did that happen? Well, I saw that 140 female bronto and thought I'd tame her. My low-level but nicely colored male one could use a mate, after all. So I tranqed her. And... Well. I gotta guard her in case any rexes or allos appear. And I have that habit, a bad one honestly, to pace around the knocked out dinos if I'm taming them without a trap and actually have to keep an eye on them. So I paced. While riding Nightshade. Because that alpha-munching, fully-imprinted, black-and-gray killing machine is most suited for tame-guarding, obviously. Oh, and I had all that stuff on me because I kinda forgot to put it all where it belongs. Because normally nothing happens to me. And I accidentally made Nightshade STEP on the bronto. And he partially fell under the mesh because of that. I decided that it would be the safest to pod him, so I dismounted... And insta-died. Respawned, took another pod, grabbed an argy, flew there as fast as I could, and PHEW! Nightshade was alive! But although his body was almost entirely in a normal position, his name was just above the ground. I had to aim really low and try several times to pod him (wouldn't dare to mount him and try to ride him onto the ground the normal way). Then I unpodded Nightshade, led the argy back to the base, grabbed some more narcotics (and pants), then went back to guarding the bronto with Nightshade, this time while staying mostly still at about two foundations distance from her, because I learned my lesson.
  8. My most notable "damn something" dino was a level 162 (pre-tame) tek rex. Just as I finally tranqed him, he fell on a raptor, which managed to drop his health to about 300 and the taming effectiveness to WAY TOO DAMN LOW before I figured out how to kill the damn thing without killing the rex as well. I didn't actually name him Damn Raptor, though. His name was Deathfang, because the idea of "badass name+ridiculously stupid almost-death" is amusing to me.
  9. Today I gathered enough materials for an industrial grinder and built it! Gone a bit overboard with gathering, actually: won't need to do another crystal run in a while. Possibly ever, considering that I don't build all that much.
  10. Today I hatched some allos, then killed them because they didn't have any health or melee mutations. Hatched three tek rexes as well, no mutations, but one was female and with good stats, so I'm raising her now. Also, yesterday but too important not to write about it: I killed a level 50 Alpha rex. Only killed level 20-25 ones before, so I took two allos with me just in case my rex alone wouldn't be enough. It was pretty easy, but mostly due to the Alpha rex deciding that it doesn't want to fight and would rather run, so aside from some stomp damage my dinos weren't hurt at all.
  11. Today I finally used almost all of my dodo eggs! I had about 320 eggs (been accumulating them for a long time), now I have 17 and a whole lot of Basic kibble (much more useful!) Also, accidentally trapped Nightshade (my current favorite tek rex) in my allo trap while killing a paracer that fell into it. Luckily, I had a cryopod on me, so getting him out was simple.
  12. Today I tamed a male argent (pre-tame level 100, post tame 121) and named him Scorpions Happened. Because he was supposed to be a bit over 140, but a few seconds before he ate the final piece of raw prime...
  13. Today: Built a trap near my base so that I can tame stuff again. Tried to tame a new allo, because level 145, mint-green one would have been a fine addition to my pack. Plus it was female, and I kinda need a fresh, non-mutated one (didn't hit the limit, but my current mutations are of the pretty kind, not the useful one). Ended up accidentally killing it, because tranq arrows didn't give any torpor. Kinda wish I didn't get greedy with resources and just used tranq darts+rifle - a few saved ingots aren't worth the life of a perfectly fine allosaurus. Tranqed a tek rex (used rifle this time), then killed it intentionally because stats sucked. Dismantled almost all of my old base (it's small! I'm just too lazy to do it all in one go).
  14. Today: almost finished the greenhouse/kitchen building (yeah, two in one. I think that's pretty reasonable. It also will have a fenced-off area for dodos). Podded my rex, mounted an argy and went on an alpha dino hunt in the redwoods (too many bases in the way to just go there on a rex. Like, I COULD, but it takes a lot of time to figure out the way around them all) , killed a level 50 alpha carno and a level 150 alpha raptor (that one was pretty tough, which means that my rex needs some more points in melee), got two nice chitin leggings, two nice crossbows, and pretty neat pick and hatchet from them. Unpodded my argy, podded the rex, and went home... Except I got disconnected while flying really high, and spent several minutes (felt like an eternity) trying to get back, while being absolutely sure that I fell and died and my beautiful, alpha-munching rex is sitting in my death inventory in the pod, at the mercy of whoever might be passing by. Fortunately, turned out that I fell safely into some player's base, alive, my rex still with me, so the only real inconvenience was having to grab another argy and retrieve the first one who was flying too high to whistle follow from the land (even with the spyglass). Oh, and also hatched three tek rexes. And killed them. One was female which is great, but inherited mother's stats which are fairly low (her mother was tamed for colors and is decent for a FIRST rex, but not good enough for me to want those stats on my bred ones). One got dad's stats which is great, but I don't need a second non-mutated male. And one was a mutated male, but the mutation was on oxygen and the accompanying color was green on the head, so not deserving of life either.
  15. Today: finished the hatchery. Almost. Just needs two more ACs (it already has... Lots. The hatchery is 3 foundations long/wide, ACs are lining the walls, packed as tightly as possible). Not for the temperature - I can definitely hatch deinos in there without any problem as it is. For symmetry, because there are 3 ACs on one side from the door, so there MUST be the same number on the other side as well.
  16. Today I finished relocating non-perishable resources from the old base to the new one. The only thing left to do before dismantling what's left of the old place is installing a refrigerator at the new one and getting all those eggs, kibble and other stuff I accumulated into it. Also, added lamps and three more ACs to the hatchery, gonna hatch some rex and allo eggs in it today.
  17. Today: a meat run, a berry run, couple trips to the old base to dismantle some more of it for materials (and to be a decent person, because maybe someone else gonna want the place now that I don't live there). Stretched the pipes to the new base, placed a cryofridge (which I made yesterday, along with twelve more cryopods), started building the house, finished the walls and the roof of the hatchery and placed five ACs in it, so I can already start breeding things again, though nothing too temperature-sensitive. Pretty productive, though not nearly as much as what I did yesterday (then again, not a whole lot of things can compare to making a rather large chunk of land into something that's safe to live in in the span of a single day).
  18. Today: found a big unpillared place, put some foundations on it so that it stays unpillared while I'm making fence foundations for it, and, well, it's my new base now. A bit bigger than the old one. And a LOT more comfortable to build in, thanks to not being sandwiched between two heavily pillared areas. The only inconvenience is the lack of an available source of water, but maybe I could stretch the pipes all the way from my old base. After placing the base for a fence I've made a craft area with an industrial forge and stuff ("stuff" stands for everything except replicator because I don't do bosses, therefore don't have tek), placed two wind turbines, and built what soon will become a greenhouse and a hatchery (3 foundations wide hatchery! Probably small by everyone else's standards, but GIANT compared to what I used to have). And, obviously, added gates, behemoth and normal (both metal, because alpha rexes are somewhat common in the area). And a wall. Made entirely out of metal railings, because why the hell not. All that's left is a house. And a convenient way of getting up into the crafting place on the cliff (a way that doesn't involve using argies, rexes or deinos, that is). oh, and walls for the hatchery. And the greenhouse. And the workshop. Because it's all just foundations right now. So basically my day consisted almost entirely of metal and stone runs. Oh, and I killed a level 20 alpha rex today. It was my fourth alpha rex (and they all were around that level), but it was the first one I killed using Nightshade (tek rex, as I dare to remind) - the first one fell victim to my allo pack, and the 2 others I killed while riding Nightshade's mother, Empress.
  19. Logged in to find myself dead. Just dead, not killed by anything (not even killed for falling under the mesh, which I heard happens to people sometimes). Respawned, made the most important things ever (a GPS, a spyglass and a canteen), grabbed some slightly-above-basic-quality cloth armor from the inventory of my tek rex (yay for me always forgetting to throw unneeded loot from the hunts out! Sometimes it ends up useful). Saw that the troughs are all empty, went on a short meatrun with the aforementioned rex, then on a berry run with my procopto, filled the troughs. Saw that my new female tek rex is fully grown, mated her to her father, then enabled mating on my main male allo (on the females it's always enabled), gathered the eggs, put them in the hatchery. And that's all I did today. Currently I'm just waiting for the eggs to hatch. At least the allo eggs, the tek rex one I might pick up and finish tomorrow.
  20. Today: expanded base even more, now I can afford to unpod my bronto, which is good because I'm too lazy to make more pods, but not quite lazy enough to limit my breeding so that I won't need more than four free pods at a time. Tamed a high-level male diplo because I already have two low-level females, so might as well get a male and try breeding them (but only for pretty colors, so anything that doesn't look nice will get killed). Got six eggs from my allos, hatching them now to see if maybe this time they got mutated in anything useful (the curse of my allo line, if it can even be called that, are mutations on stamina, oxygen and weight. It's always those three stats, never health or melee).
  21. Today: finished raising Nightshade (male tek rex, gray head, dark gray sides, magenta lights, the rest is black) and took him on a meat run/leveling trip. Went marvelously, thanks to him being fully imprinted. Got another mutated color on an allo, but killed it because the accompanying mutation didn't improve anything important. Also, because the new color clashed with his inherited ones. Like, REALLY clashed. Because it was purple on the back, and the inherited colors were black on the sides and bright red on the belly. Hideous. Probably wouldn't have let it live even if the mutation landed on an useful stat.
  22. Today I hatched a bunch of dodo eggs and some allo eggs in hopes of getting any mutation with color (for dodos) and an actually useful mutation (for allos, current ones are pretty, but mutated only in stamina and oxygen). Nothing worthy of keeping hatched from either of those. Also, lost my only megatherium because due to the lags I only saw a wild allo pack approaching AFTER they were too close to me to escape. Oh, and a tree has respawned in my base due to the fence now being farther from it. I decided to build a little greenhouse thingy around it for safety, because there's not much use in chopping it, so might as well keep it as an overly large houseplant.
  23. Today I found a level 162 male tek rex near my base, lured him into the allo trap and knocked him out. All because he had the misfortune of being male, high-level, and with better colors than my old male tek rex (who has some green which is almost always inherited by his offspring, so out of about 20 his kids only one was not green at all and therefore deserving of life). Another thing I did today was expanding the borders of my base to accommodate my ever-growing number of tames (which I can't cryo because I'm too much of a lazy potato to go to the nearest obelisk and make more pods, so pods are only for saving babies for later. And for getting tamed rexes out of the allo trap which totally counts even if it only happened once and probably will only happen once more).
