  1. One my two tribemates and i went in there with rex at first and theri in the smaller tunnel areas further down, and it wasn't too bad, just got to take your time and watch for the little dirt mounds that mark where the perlovia are, im sure if you rush it the cave turns into a nightmare fast, I can see one getting a large swarm rather fast on them doing it that way and dying from it.
  2. You can also get artifacts on other maps and bring them over to the map your playing on, some of those are easy to get on Ragnarok. I've taken artifacts to other maps just because i was missing one or 2 on them.
  3. ah the weight bug, i see it more commonly on my dinos then my character. keep a couple thatch on you, wait for the lag session to end, toss one of the thatch out onto the ground. My dino's will have next to no weight on them, just my weight (which even when full is like 1/4th the lowest travel dinos max) and they'll move like they have all but 100 lbs filled. It does eventually clear on its own, but its really annoying expecially if your trying to get away from something horrible, i donno, like nameless? alpha rex? make the pen with fence foundations rather then using foundations, same is true if you want to tame a hyena and a couple of the other passives (forget which ones), they need to be on the ground. Best food i know to toss to them that is low cost - high level adult dodo's, make sure the dino is on passive as well, can't have it harming the Troodon.
  4. I don't need them, but others might. Support seems to be working pretty good for me to get the griefers taken care of, so it takes a few minutes of my time, but its easier that way and I don't have to worry that my actions may end up getting me in trouble.
  5. I've seen both good and bad, the biggest issue we have on our main server is the ones that come in to park a ton of dino's on the server, we've hit dino cap a few times just because of that, but other then those ones, i've seen a pretty even ballance between good and bad chinese players. The hard part is reporting them, as most of their names show up as [][][][] in game and finding the right one in the player list can be pretty hard to supply a link to their steam profile. knowing where their base is helps though because at least that way you can give a position of the offending tribe even though you cant read their name.
  6. PVE-Official-TheIsland Spent most my day gathering resources and raising babies. One of my friends bases got griefed by a chinese player, they tossed a bunch of unconscious bronto's all around his base blocking all the doorways, even on the roof. Helped him get a support ticket sent in to resolve the issue, come to find out that same tribe that griefed him was trying to sell dinos on the server for real money, defiantly a no no. so hopefully the support staff will get it resolved quickly. After helping my friend with the info he needed and what to do to get a ticket submitted, i headed back to base and continued gathering resources and raising the babies. Got enough together to make the last of the ceilings that I need over at valguero to finish off the pen, and some extra to start working on a connecting pathway between the two buildings for safe foot travel. While raising the babies one of my other friends popped in, I asked them if they got a giga egg sense they had been looking for one, nope not yet, so i bred my two gigas and told them to come get the egg sense they had helped me out before. "for free?" "yep". They asked me to turn on my teleporter so I did and they popped right over, As i was in my inventory to toss out the egg I noticed they dropped a bag in front of me, They grabbed the egg, said thanks, and quickly teleported away. I looked in the bag, and there were several cryopods with babies, so I picked them up and headed into my baby pen and tossed the little guys out: twin Megalania, Black with red stripes I love black n' red dinos, that made my day. I decided to hatch one of my dieno eggs today as well that I had gotten during the last event, I was pleasantly surprised with what came out: hopefully some of the other Dieno eggs i grabbed up during the event give me some more beauties like this one If we get a halloween event I am soooo raiding dieno nests and wyvern nests lol. got the dieno up to 10.1% maturity, the two little lizards up to 5%, and my rexs up to 58-62% (had 5 rexs out all day, you can see some of the feet in the screenshots lol). put all the babies away after waiting for two of them to finish off with their want timer, and crafted a tek geny to take over to valguero to start working on the baby raising area over there. Another tribe showed me a nifty trick for it and im gonna incorporate that in the center of the new pen i've been working on. Future Plans: Get the ceilings crafted tomorrow, and the extra walls/foundations to take over to valguero, finish the roof of the dino pen, get the tek geny placed, and the pieces setup around it for the troughs.
  7. when i get stuck in the walk bug, i lay down prone, crawl for a ways then crouch and move forward abit more, go prone then back to walking, usually breaks me out of it.
  8. PvE-Official-TheIsland Spent most the time there crafting dino gates, and some behemoth gates for Scorched Earth. fed dinos and headed to Scorched Earth. PvE-Official-ScorchedEarth set a dino leash to its largest size, then went around the circle placing the dino gates, and placing a few behemoth gates in the ring, so i I have nice circle around the base there now, I need to take some more spikes over though, going to line the outside of the wall where the smaller dinogates are with the spikes, and perhaps if possible to get them to stack (like you can with the dino gates) get spikes across the tops of them as well. placing the gates was time consuming but well worth it. just a little more to do to that, get a new waterline ran (we had water from our ally) and then work on redesigning the base itself, have to finish my valguero build as well as the island build. So much work, but keeps me busy and keeps me interested in the game
  9. Part of it was luck, as all my allies water pipes were still connecting from where their vaults were over into my base and the pipes over by the water source, so it clearly showed that I had been there for awhile. Always make sure to submit screenshots and/or video proof with the ticket as well, text based tickets seem to take longer to get actions done. It probably would of been a lot harder to prove that I had been there first if it wasn't for my allies pipes still being there and them still being a ally in my tribe even though their base had decayed away.
  10. PVE-Official-ScorchedEarth Logged on to my Scorched earth server today and found that my allies base that surrounded mine with walls was gone, and someone decided to start pillaring around my base stopping me from being able to even put spikes around my base. I quickly pillared up the side that didnt have any pillars surrounding it, then hopped on support and reported the base blocking. They found that it was indeed blocking me and removed the pillars, afterwards I pillared out from mine and threw up a barrier wall of spikes around the base till i can get enough gates to put around it, least that will keep the boas, scorpions, wolves, sabers and karpa away from the base till then. PVE-Official-TheIsland I had been building a dino pen next to my base on Valguero, and ran out of close by materials to farm, so I decided to hop on the island and craft walls and ceilings before 2x ended. I managed to gather enough stone to craft 800 walls, and 400 ceilings, which i though would be enough to finish it off. Afterwards I traded for a couple low level mana to take with me over to Valguero, nothing special just a level 40 and 70, just primarly wanted them for fast travel to different parts of the map, and they will serve the purpose. Hung around for awhile as one of my tribemates was able to log in for a hour, we chatted for awhile while the dieno babies sat out. Afterwards I headed off to Valguero after uploading the walls and ceilings. PVE-Official-Valguero Logged in and the first thing i see when i go outside, a Alpha rex chomping away at a bronto, I quickly went back up to my room and pulled out my giga, heading out to kill off the alpha, It was only a lvl 60 so the giga didn't have any problems taking it down. Man them things move fast. Once that was done, I downloaded the walls and ceilings and set out to finish the pen, I had enough walls to finish building it up to the top of the behemoth gates with 2 walls left over, and proceeded to put the ceilings on to cover the roof, After laying them all I found i was 198 ceilings short >.< well more crafting on the island I guess, got alot more made there in a shorter period of time then valguero. One of the friendly tribes was trying to mine metal with their anky and we noticed a problem there on valguero, they weren't getting any more metal from the nodes then I was with mine, what was the problem? my anky was 332 melee, theirs was 1.2k melee. To top it off, it seems that were getting 1/2 the normal metal we get on 1x at the island. I fed all the dino's afterwards and headed out for the day. Future Plans tomorrow its making gates to finish protecting my little scorched earth base from land critters, I'm going to have to put up some air defenses now as well, as my allies base is gone there is no more air defense as well, thinking bring over some speices X and setup some water lines so there is something there at least. I figure after im done with Scorched earth, i'll head back to the island and make the last of the ceilings I need to close off the pen, then we can figure out how were going to setup the inside for the dinos.
  11. ain't that the truth, probably enough to pillar every server lol. Wildcard has stated so many times they have no plans to wipe all the servers, ever.
  12. PVE-Official-Valguero This morning I went online to play on Valguero with my tribemate, as he had already been there, but before going I fed all the dinos on the island, and took one of my giga with me and headed on over. Once I got their he told me he had been working on the new dino pin, attempting to get the walls done on it, and had built it up 5 walls high, then a server crash took place, and all the work he had done was gone. I stayed on there for a good 6 hours, and during that time, the server went down 13 times, yep that's right, 13 times. Wasn't just me lagging out, everyone was getting booted from it. after the 9th time I started submitting outage tickets via the Ark server outage, as the frequent server crashes and rollbacks were getting really really annoying. the last hour I was playing it was pretty stable, up until I was thinking about logging out, then, another server crash... I waited for it to come back up and found I only lost 5 minutes work, I headed back putting the missing pieces back into place and then put away all my gear, waited for a server save and headed out for the day. This is the worst that server has ever been, even when we had 50 people on it one time there was only 1 crash that day. I did fly around a little on my wyvern looking for new bases that may of popped up around mine and there were a couple, crammed with dino's none the less. well there's some of the lag for sure. But the one that caught my eye and made me wonder 'why on earth' was a upside down pyramid suspended up in the air by a 1x1 block tower, I'd hate to see something attack that 1x1 tower, the whole structure would come tumbling down... It was packed with lights on the inside, only reason I knew this was they were the first thing to pop in as I approached it. Well... I survived a unprecedented number of crashes and managed to get a little bit of work done around the base as well as feed all the dinos, so I guess that's good. took a few screenshots of the base now being referred to as 'the prison' by other players, I donno… does it really look like a prison? that's it for today, soon the towers will have defenses in them, and there is still work to be done around the entry gates as well, but all in all its slowly coming together
  13. im running on a 8 year old pc and hardly get any lag, the only really noticeable thing is when its loading the parts. I keep minimal dinos out as well, if they were all out, that would probably choke just about everyone to death. so we bring out dino's as we need them, leaving some out most the time (like our gacha we use the most, and argy's). The real lag issues start happening when people have mass amounts of dino's around their base, that is unless your running a pc with 12 or less gb ram, then you can notice some lag from loading but thats client side and not server side.
  14. PVE-Official-TheIsland Spent most the day hanging around the base, fed all the dinos, did a little more work on the base, rebuilt the greenhouse, 96 crop plots placed and filled with fert and seed, tomorrow I should have some veggies ready Here's a couple screenshots of parts of the base, my tower (which I live in): and the backside of the main base that's still being rebuilt. the smaller building next to the teleporter is my hatchery / baby raising area, the top floors are my mates living quarters: this is part of the rebuild area on the front: and the bridge bit that extends from it: Sorry for the low quality shots, (can't even see the base at the back side of bridge) running on a low end graphics card while I wait for the other one to arrive. next time im on Valguero i'll take a couple snapshots of that base too, maybe you guys can figure out why they call it a prison heh. As you can see though, I like building. Only hit structure limit in the hatchery room, and the greenhouse on the first level, due to the ac's in hatchery (32) and the crop plots in greenhouse (96). the whole backside of the island is preserved except one small building someone uses for coming to to collect metal, but all the metal nodes are safe, and a lot of dino's still spawn across the beach in the back. We reserved building primarily to the front (except where tower is) and in the water area, I even started building a large mock ship off one side of the island, still need to finish it up one of these days.
  15. PVE-Official-TheIsland Spent most the day here, fed the dinos, pulled out some eggs and tossed out some Juvi rexs who had 807 melee, colored so they'll add to the stock :). Hatched one egg and I got a great rex out of it, I shoved 5 meat into it and ..... DC'ed... tried reconnecting couldn't get back in, tried restarting ark and getting back in, didn't work. rebooted pc, fired up ark and thought for sure the new baby was going to be dead... waited impatiently to get back into the game... it was still alive, i quickly opened its inventory and shoved some meat into it, ignoring the eggs. It had 10hp left, barely saved. grabbed snow owl and healed the baby. Then i look at the eggs 4 eggs gone... no rexs... decided to check under the floor (sense its hollow) and sure enough 2 rexs down there, nothing special, 808 and 900 melee rexes. the other two eggs had to of vanished out of existence, all 4 were to hatch at the same time. So two eggs lost to DC and almost a new stat baby rex. I podded the baby and decided to help a person who was prepping to take a bunch of random tribes with them on two boss runs. I brought over medi brew for all the people and handed it out. Then after they returned from the first fight I stuck around and helped heal all the rexs with my snow owl so they could head out on the next battle sooner. There were 3 of us there hitting the rexs with snow owls and they were all back up to full in a short period of time. and off to the next battle..... I watched the rexs and people teleport out 5 at a time to the boss battle with about a 10 second delay between them, i thought for sure the server maybe getting ready to die. Two people ended up getting left behind even though their rexs went in, no rhyme or reason for it to of happened, it was under on rex count and survivor count. so those two missed out on second boss. again after they returned I helped them heal up the rexs, and someone decided it would be fun to toss out abunch of rexs all around the ob so that the person taking theirs in couldn't move them off the ob. 20 ko'ed rexs all around.... ugg... The person who was doing the boss runs took some video of it and filed a report, if that can't be considered a form of griefing, I don't know what is... back to the base i headed, and popped the new rex out for a littlewhile as the lag seemed to of dropped even though there were 32 people running around on the server. I let it grow for abit and stuck it back in cryo, im pretty happy with it though, over a year of breeding rex carefully, i have a nice high stat base now, 30k health, 1.5k stam, 560 weight meh I can boost that, and 1125.4% melee! woot out does the 1007 babies I still have to finish raising: refreshed the beds on the island, and headed out for the day, all in all, even with the problem that almost cost me this baby, things went fairly well
  16. PVE-Official-Valguero Hopped on Valguero today and downloaded 50 cryopods I had made on my island server sense i had more then enough supplies there to do it with, podded up all the dino's at one base we are most likely going to take down, and a few dino's at the main base that we just don't use currently to cut back mainly on food runs. Simplified it abit only having 3 meat troughs to put food in and 2 veggie troughs. so now only one base to feed dino's at, and still have the little outpost bases (1x1, 3x3) at different spots for fast travel / respawn at some key locations. Spent some time gathering up meat for the dino's that were still out and noticed that a little 1x1 hut was gone that had stopped me from continuing my building build how I wanted to, so i quickly went back grabbed the rock golem and made some stone pillars and ladders to take over and pillar that spot so I could return to building the design without further interruption. Iaid down a couple foundation blocks on the outline building area I was working on near my base thats close to a water source, if we get this building done it will be a good place to store the rexs for the boss battles rather then the smaller cramped space they are in right now, i think they'll like not being packed in like sardines in a tin. I looked over the spot I was going to build at previously after i had returned, remembering that I'm going to build a tunnel so that even giga could still pass by through the spot, but still have it connected to the main base to transfer across. pondering ideas on how to make it look abit decorative, thinking about the bridge design I was working on at the island and how that could fit into this bases design too. Sense the base I have keeps commonly getting referred to as a prison, I might go off the design with that in mind, sticking with a prison like theme for it for the addition, that will require a couple small towers to be built and a bit of trickery with placing some ceiling pieces to make them come together how I am thinking, but all in all I think i can do it to make it look like there are a couple guard towers on each side. one of these days i'll have to take a screenshot of it and post it so you all can see what it looks like. I'd like to get more done to it first though, as currently its just mainly the main building, a nice exterior wall around it and two smaller buildings (one the rex are crammed into, the other incomplete at this time). After gazing around and thinking about design ideas, i finished up my meat run, fed all the dinos, grabbed berries from the garden, fed the herbivores, and restocked the fertilizer in the garden greenhouse, had just enough to fill them all up again with 1 to spare. Named the piggies, 1 of 9, 2 of 9, 3 of 9, etc. skipping 7 of 9, and then doing 8 of 9 and 9 of 9. its a pun, im sure some people will get it. After i was all done, I ran around the base for awhile, clueless of what to do, thought about doing a couple things, but as i went floor to floor quickly forgot what they were, man my memory... its so flighty at times... night started to fall, lag started rolling in, and i decided to head out, heading upstairs to my room, laying down next to the crafting character on the nice little 'double bed' and logging out for the day. Got to play ark today for 3 hrs, watched the heat on everything cpu never went above 61c, and gpu never went above 69c. So far so good with the pc work done to get me back in ark. Someone commented previously about my idle temps being low but room tempature plays a part in temps for the pc as well, on average the pc room is at 18c most the time, sometimes it gets a little warmer, but all in all it averages around there, so with that it helps to keep the cpu / gpu cooler especially when they are fan cooled. Keeping your pc dust free inside helps alot as well, dust is a insulator, the more that builds up, the more heat that will build up inside the case. anyhow I think soon I may be back to playing ark like normal again yay! Cheers everyone!
  17. had the same thing happen the other day, heres a tip go to Program Files\Steam\Steam Apps\Common\Ark\Shooter game\Saved\Local Profiles make a copy of localprofile.arkprofile, if your map is gone the next time you log into ark, exit out, delete the localprofile.arkprofile, and rename the copy to that. Your maps will be restored. Make sure to make backups of that file often as it stores information about your map, your map pins, skins, and Explorer notes on your local pc.
  18. yep positive its working properly. and yeah a average pc should be running anywhere from 20-25c idle.
  19. there is a 15 minute timer in where the dino will continue to attack the structure until argo'ed away or it destroys it once you log out. Sounds like you had a 140/150 pissed at your base, the real question is though, why? Dire Bears generally leave you alone unless argo'ed, perhaps one got too close to your house when you spawned and it instantly attacked. If your going to build near the aberration cave on valguero, be careful, alpha rex's like to spawn in front of the cave and off to the left side (if your facing it). up on the right hand side though there is a small indented area with a rock roof that could easily be blocked off and turned into a mini base, one of my friends built there temp base there so that they had a nice little land spot to hide away the few dino's that they had. there is a upper path with a entry you can eaisly block with 2 dino gates or a behemoth gate, leaving you with only the left hand cliffside to worry about as medium sized dino's can walk up that side.
  20. EU-PVE-Official-TheIsland well... I canabilized my second pc for now and stole the gtx 760 2gb card from it to use in my main pc as I was having ark withdrawals ;). Fired it up, everything going good, hoped on ark and fed my dinos, gave 2 people who had been playing there a giga egg each from 405/505 parents, they are gonna be busy for the next 14 days. After feeding dino's I decided to cook up some meat and restock the fridges as I hadn't been able to be on for awhile do to the videocard dying, and as I was doing this... my pc shut down... just bloop, power off... "Ah hell... what now?" … powered the pc back up and took a look at my monitoring app (CPUID HWMonitor) and noticed the problem right off the bat... idle in windows my cpu was sitting at 40c, fan speed was fine, still running at max.. hrm… shut down the pc, and pulled the heatsink from the gpu, sure enough, it needed some cleaning. First I cleaned the thermal paste off the cpu & heatsink, then removed the fan from the heatsink and gave it a nice cleaning, also wiping down the fan itself with some wipes to remove the dust that had built up on the edges of the blades. reassembled it applying new artic silver thermal paste and seating it all back in place. Afterwards I let it sit for about 10 minutes while I grabbed some coffee, and came back to computer room. Fired pc back up, checked temps in bios, and fan speeds all looked good, let it fire back up and fired off my monitioring software again. Now at idle its sitting at 8-10c, jumping to 20c while browsing the web, doing meh things on the pc. Just giving the thermal paste some time to burn in before I do any high stress things like playing ark again. Lately its just been one thing after another. Usually how it happens, and usually when im broke lol.. "Dammn you electronic gadgets!!!" So hopefully i'll be able to hop on later today, transfer some of them cryopods over to Valguero that I had made for it, and cryo up some of the dino's that are just sitting there right now and not being used (like our event jerboa) to make taking care of the workhorses easier. Later on, maybe a week or two I plan on transferring a few dino's over to valguero to start mating with, and hopefully get the other building completed (just have the foundation base laid down right now. So yep... today my efforts to play ark were once again swatted by a pc problem... I think my pc may be getting tired of playing ark, but too bad, its gonna have to keep going, im not done yet!
  21. best strategy with manticore on Rag and Val from previous experiences, shotgun the manticore to get its health down, attacking it with dino's when it lands, once you get the health way down, stop shooting it and wait for it to land and let the dino's finish it off. On valguero it take about 8 minutes tops for us to take down beta using this method, it does like to fly a lot but as long as one of the dino's gets the kill the element will be inside the dino. Its been a long while sense I've done the boss on Rag however.
  22. Today in ark... i hopped on to feed dinos and..... watched my video card die a slow and painful death.
  23. we found a nice little raised land mass in the swamp and built a small building on it with roof access 3 walls high so boa wouldn't get on top, and a dino gate for the main entrance at the bottom. we normally had to kill boas and sometimes a sarco or two before heading into the swamp, so we'd just stand on the roof and shoot the snakes n' sarcos, then head inside the building, unpod the bary, and head in to get what we neeeded. It worked quite well as a little fort, even had a vault, smithy and a couple stone forges in it for repairing weapons and armor.
  24. PVE-Official-TheIsland today i worked on rebuilding the area where i had a dock, and it looks alot better now I think but still alot of work left to do to it, went through 50k stone and 200 stone walls I had gotten over the weekend, along with 60 greenhouse windows and a ton of pillars, stone ceilings, wood walls and wood ceilings. As i was planning to leave several of the german tribes were getting ready to do a boss fight, and invited me to join in, they were helping a new player get the tek engrams for making the geny and trough, so alpha ape it is! the battle took about 6 minutes, My rex took about 1/6th of damage to its health but some of the other rexs took alot, I teleported home and grabbed my snow owl and came back then started healing everyones rexs. it was fun, I headed back to my base, and put things and dino's away before heading out for the night... but... before leaving, I had to make everyone run around and look at the backsides of their dino's by sharing abit of a totally useless ark fact, "hey everyone heres a totally useless ark fact for you, The Mammoth is the only dino with a painted on bum hole" ... few seconds later "lol... you made me have to go look!" ... yep that was worth it. tomorrow, or later tonight before bed, I'll hop on Valguero and feed my dino's there, they are probably getting abit hungery now, I haven't been on there sense saturday. "Want some mead? Course ya do!" Cheers everyone.
  25. I've spent a year breeding dino's on pve to get good stats from them, I've just recently got my rex up to 1k melee, a wipe at this point for me would be as if I hadn't done anything for the past year, and would totally ruin my enjoyment of the game. Having to do that all over again and knowing how long it took me to get to where i am now being a solo player 90% of the time? no, a wipe would be a game killer, not a solution.
