Quaeroveritas Posted September 19, 2016 Share Posted September 19, 2016 In my opinion there are two major drawbacks to powering your base with the wind turbine. 1) It needs to be placed in an area with 100% wind to function as the sole source of power for fridges etc. 2) You can only send electricity through a total length of 29 electrical cables before the wind turbine ceases to provide power. ehuhoser Posted September 19, 2016 Share Posted September 19, 2016 I'm sure they don't want cables everywhere intersecting around areas to get power.....a reason maybe 29 was the number they went with. It will work with 85 percent wind as well, hook a genny up to it as well to make up for the 15 percent when down. Other draw backs is imho the positioning...and the cables that come out of it. I found a nice flat spot with lots of building resources and a water vein close by.
