If you have a spare computer you can use that as an ARK server. I would not recommend trying to run a dedicated server on the same computer that you're trying to use as a player, the game is way too resource intensive for that. 2) Non-dedicated server. You start the game, go to "Host / Local", then choose "Host non-dedicated session". As long as you are playing you can invite people to join you, which lets you play and be the server at the same time. As soon as you log off or shut down ARK the server goes away for other people, it's only up as long as you're running ARK, that's why they call it "non-dedicated".
