Is there going to be a youtube vid of the June 4 tournament that has 4 player tribes compete with all POVs edited together? or at least a youtube video of the full tournament like those videos from PAX east that had commentators spectating and switching between POVs? That is very strange that Wildcard doesn't have their own dedicated Survivor League youtube channel and record/archive the tournament matches (especial 4 player tribe matches) for the world to see. they have a Survival Evolved channel but no committed SOTF related tournament videos. and there's only one tournament per month, so it's not like they have to dedicate a lot of time or staff to record spectator vids of the matches like they did at PAX east, and commentating isn't really necessary, but showing the whole match is useful. Do they expect this to climb faster in popularity as an esport, being so outside the radar with its official competitions? people have to search hard for even ranked matches. I would think Wildcard would have hosts/moderators/overseers that would spectate and record each tournament match. Most youtubers don't/can't watch twitch streams, especially PS4 gamers that browser on PS4. I mean considering SOTF is coming to PS4, you would think SOTF would record and archive its tournaments on an official youtube channel for all to see and raise awareness of SOTF's unique and amazing competitive qualities. With fighting games, there are recording of all the tournament matches on youtube, especially for cash prize tournaments. Its a shame SOTF tournaments just get live streamed and not archived on youtube. When SOTF comes to PS4, people could share record and upload their videos to youtube, that could help expand the SOTF media, though SOTF should have official competition vids of tournament matches as well . These events need to be publicised they need to run smoothy the commentary has to be on point able to draw new players in and give some insight into current players watching. They need to generate a certain degree of "hype". Being an "esport" is an established metric, you have many other organisations and games you can lift ideas from and I really hope wildcard can find someone and let them be dedicated to getting that side of it to the level it needs to be. One of the things they should do is move their archived videos to youtube on their official ARK SE youtube channel for all to see. If they aren't going to dedicate to a SOTF youtube channel, they should at least not segregate ARK SE media and ARK SOTF media. having the tournament vids on ARK SE channel, can get more players across all platforms more interested in ARK SOTF. and the SOTF tournament vids after being moved to youtube should be posted on their twitter and facebook as well for all ARK fans to see and be aware of and watch, with links to the youtube vids. See that article it's nice they share links to the twitch videos, but a lot of us can't/don't watch twitch videos. we watch youtube videos. Even youtube watchers that visit their ARK SE channel, aren't even aware these tournaments exist and took place, and can't even watch them. twitch is a back alley video site compared to youtube, and twitch is so incompatible and unused with a lot of browsers, PCs, and especially consoles. I'm sorry but if they want to pull it off they need to look at how balanced the other esport games are and the amount of mechanical and strategic skill it takes. While watching any Quake, UT, Dota, LOL or any high profile game anyone can instantly realized the insane skills pro players have. Currently the game is about luck of finding first and taming a trex which yo can do in 5 minutes.No strategy, no counter strategy, just trex. boring... Well fans have to be careful how they critique and compare ARK SOTF to. We sure don't want SOTF to play or be organized like Quake, UT, Dota, LOL or Overwatch for that matter. It's already bad enough that Wildcard dumbed down nighttime in SOTF, shortened the standard game times, and making some things too arcadey for something that is meant to be hardcore survival last tribe standing. SOTF is still strategy as much as skill. Yes there are formulas that are better than others, but tames aren't not guaranteed wins just as tech is not guaranteed win either and competitions showed that combinations of both styles still can lead to unpredictable results at times. But yes, tame hordes should not overwhelm tech specialists, nor tech specialists should overwhelm tame hordes. it can be hard to balance, but making both styles potent can lead to more interesting results. SOTF is its own style of PVP. Yes, the overtime structure should be better balanced and refined so there is no 6 tribe draw. Maybe some sort of debuff that motivates the last survivors to start attacking each other instead of playing possum. Like maybe after certain time in the center, all survivors have a status where they have to start damaging other tribes or they will lose health. or maybe the dome should get even smaller in the center so the players are so cramped inside that they have to fight since everyone is like right next to them. and another rule that can remove cowardly tactics, is change the ring of death to instant kill if the last survivors touch it (during the overtime or whatever it's called). that can ensure that cowards don't use the outside of the ring as a way to escape pursuit, and then running back in before 30 seconds are up. So yes making ring of death instant kill after the clock hits zero from then on, and making the dome even smaller in the center so there's little room to be idle without attacking, can motivate more active climax and a definitive winner faster. Also something needs to be done about flyers just going to the top out of render and not fighting. You can't shoot them. They are not even in sight.
