  1. No way! That wombat is earthbending! Well… not quite, but it seems that the influence of element on Extinction have caused this Diprotodon to be able to move the earth just like your favourite Badgermoles from ATLA! Diprotodon would be the ultimate battlefield tactician and the perfect mount for dealing with an OSD! When I say earthbending wombat, I mean it! Diprotodon has the unique ability to throw up temporary walls, trap creatures and create protective suits of armour for its allies, all with the power of dirt! This would be invaluable in helping you keep the hordes of corrupted at bay, and keep your allies nice and healthy. Let’s dig into the concept! Table of Contents 1. Artwork 2. Dossier Text 3. Potential Base Stats and Spawning 4. Taming 5. Abilities and Controls - An Earthbending Wombat? - Controls - Saddle 6. Supplementary Links Dossier Text Common Name : Diprotodon Species : Diprotodon terraforma Time : Pleistocene Diet : Herbivore Temperament : Territorial Wild A giant relative of the wombat was too darn stubborn to keel over for the apocalypse? Yeah, that checks out. Diprotodon terraforma is a hulking marsupial that is commonly found in small herds, travelling across the wastelands to find enough plant matter to sustain their bulk. For most animals, the hordes of corrupted would make that kind of lifestyle impossible, but this behemoth quite literally fights dirty. Powerful forearms allow it to move enormous loads of soil with ease, and while this is impressive, it’d be a mere annoyance for the more dangerous members of the hivemind. Diprotodon isn’t just throwing sand though, its unique snot is what gives it the upper paw! Sounds disgusting, but its mucus is able to harden loose dirt into a form of organic concrete. With surprising finesse for its size, it shapes the earth into defensive walls, temporary suits of armour or even uses it as a way to entrap enemies! It’s amazing how life has adapted even in this desolate environment! Domesticated A small herd of these marsupials have proved highly effective in defending those orbital supply drops. Their natural defences against corrupted are invaluable in controlling crowds and ensuring their allies are well protected. We’ve found that fitting their saddles with shade cloths helps keep the foul weather of the wastelands at bay too! Potential Base Stats and Spawning Health: 900 Stamina: 300 Oxygen: 150 Food: 3000 Weight: 400 Melee Damage: See "Abilities and Controls" section for base damage values Torpidity: 650 Diprotodon would be found in small herds of around 5 members out in the wastelands, migrating to the Sanctuary and the desert dome to feed. Within these herds, there would be a mix of adult and young individuals, with young kept in the center to protect them from the dangers of a post-apocalyptic Earth. Hopefully the improved AI of ASA could make this herd dynamic possible! Taming With their very stubborn dispositions, it’s near impossible to tame an adult Diprotodon.Being hardened by endless hordes of corrupted, they treat anything foreign as a danger! However, in their tight knit herds, the babies tend to be much more friendly and inquisitive. It’ll be difficult to get past the wall that is their angry parents and relatives though… If you’re brave or foolish enough to sneak into the inner folds of the herd, simply passively feeding the babies Sweet Vegetable Cakes will cause them to follow you, and from there you can lead them away with even more sweet treats to have them join your tribe.Once you’ve raised up the giant pup you’ll have yourself a powerful war steed! Tamed Diprotodon eat berries like any other herbivore. No need to worry about a lavish and expensive diet! Abilities and Controls An Earthbending Wombat? So how exactly does this wombat earthbend? As mentioned in the dossier, it has to do with its snot! Element’s influence on its evolution means that its snot can harden dirt into a concrete-like material. But that’s just the flavour text, how does it work in game? Diprotodon has a dirt meter that is linked to its weight stat. Holding right click fills up this meter and pressing R cycles through three distinct abilities: Dirt Wall: Uses dirt to place temporary walls of dirt. Perfect for blocking off hordes of corrupted and drawing them into choke points. These walls can be destroyed by taking enough damage, or will disappear after a certain amount of time. Dirt Snare: Uses dirt to trap enemies in place, functioning much like how a netgun would Dirt Armour: Uses dirt to create temporary armour on allied tames that increases their damage reduction, but lowers speed significantly on targets smaller than the Diprotodon. Larger targets require more dirt to fully armour. A unique ability of the armour is that itreduces the effects of harmful elemental attacks (like fire damage and poison breath) by half! In terms of controls: Left Click: Bite. 40 Base Damage. Hits at a decent speed and harvests wood Right Click: Ground Slam. 55 base damage, good AOE, but slow Right Click (Hold): Refill dirt 😄 Use dirt ability. Different abilities have different dirt costs R: Cycle dirt ability In terms of saddle: Diprotodon’s saddle is fitted with a simple shade cloth/tent that prevents the player from suffering from the “Harsh Conditions” debuff. Mainly a way to not have to deal with annoying debuffs while fighting those hordes, but would also make Diprotodon a viable ground mount for those that like to stay in on the action. In addition, the saddle could function as a mobile feeding trough. Being almost like a mobile command tent and infirmary, keep your tames fed at range all from the comfort of your giant marsupial. Stock up the beast with veggie cakes to keep your herbivores fighting for longer! 2. The reason why I think that more marsupials should be in ARK is, well, we've only got like three, a flyer's worst nightmare, perry the platypus, and a french bulldog-faced kangaroo. Now, what's my proposal? Some little guys! You can never have too many smol bois, right? My first marsupial I think should be added is the Thylacine, AKA Tassie tiger/wolf! They could be used for herding dodos, Ovis, or megaloceros into enclosures, incubating small eggs in their pouches, and biting the ankles of your enemies, slowing them down and gnashing them a little bit. Remember thylacines are speedy, too, so anklebiting is their specialty here! I've also got Ekaltadeta, the tiny rat-kangaroo! I hate to admit it--I don't have much to work with about the little Ekal, so i'll leave it up to you guys to think of further ideas!
  3. There is already a post so check it here: Diprotodon was a genus of australian marsupials that went extinct around 46.000 years ago. They had a lifestyle like the actual wombats. In Ark, they have adapted to the wild and savage Aberration's conditions from the top (the surface) to the bottom (the deepest caves). They are a medium-late tame especially useful in every area, but they are sleepy too. DOSSIER WILD Diprotodon is a genus that contains 4 sub species that you can find on the fertile zone of Aberration's cave system. They look very peaceful and calm until you bother them while they take a nap. Diprotodon´s heavy weight helps them to carry up to two medium creatures such as ravagers, raptors... that can be released in the middle of a combat, or maintained on the saddle so they can use their abilities such as parasaur's roar. While they wander on the plains, they will randomly dig a small hole in the ground where you can find valuable items, with the help of an already tamed one, so it is a good idea to keep some wild specimens. DOMESTICATED To tame one of these gentle beasts you must play with them. They love to hide items underground and you will have to find them so your friendship will improve. Apparently, the Diprotodon sub-species only differ on their fur pattern, but they have plenty of different abilities. By now I have named them as: D.ven. they can unearth the hidden items underground and they can even track dinos or resources smelling their scent; D.gra. they have the ability to trample the ground breaking rocks, trees and bushes, and even stunning dinos; D.hyd. they can throw different items that are a good help for the combat, they have developed a fierce bite to face Aberration's biggest predators; and lastly, D.odo. (or also called as the hairy diprotodons), they have evolved their fur structure and now they can retain scents and other properties on their fur, with this skill they can survive on the wildest environments such as the burning surface, or even the radiated depths. Diprotodons spawn on the fertile green zone on small groups from 3 to 5 adult specimens and 1 or 2 babies, they wander and dig some holes on the ground hiding different objects like resources, weapons, tools... They like to sleep and are always calm, but if you approach too much while they are taking a nap or if you attack them, they will show their fierce side. It is a good idea to keep a small group on a medium enclosure wandering so you get free items similar to Gacha, but it is not that simple, you will need help from already tamed diprotodons (I will that explain later). The taming process is a bit complex (at first time), but it is fun too. you will have to find a baby alone, if the adults near see you they will attack you so you may have to kill them or take away the baby which is simpler. The babies are very curious and will follow you if you have honey or rare flower on the last spot of the tool bar (like Ferox do with element). To start the tame, you must give them one of the two items, then you will have to give them special ones such as crops, gems, pearls, sap... If the item is common the tame will increase only a bit, but if it´s a rare one such as black pearls, the tame will advance faster. Once you give them the item, they will knock you they will start digging a random number of holes from 4-8 (only for the first time); then after you wake up you will have to find the item hidden on one of the holes, if you don't, they will hit you and the taming effectiveness will decrease, you only have two opportunities for item and 3 opportunities to fail in each tame. This process would be easier with the help of a sniffer diprotodon that is able to smell if there is an item in the hole. Once tamed, you will have to care for the babies and feed them until they grow. But fortunately, if you have a female Diprotodon tamed, you will have Diprotodon milk (generated only on the female's inventory but slow because it is a useful item) this item helps them grow faster but they gain a buff so you cannot feed them milk all the time, just after a period of some minutes. As the dossier says, there are four distinct species, each one with their own pattern. All of them have some abilities in common: -High health and oxygen (while being in the water the player doesn´t lose oxygen because their fur retains bubbles of air underwater, so it is helpful for harvesting underwater resources). -They are immune to earthquakes because of their heavy weight (this means that the screen won´t move while there is an earthquake). -They can be mounted with or without saddle. The saddle is unlocked at a medium level and has two baskets to carry two small or medium dinos (from Dodos to Parasaurs). With another key (a different "attack") the dinos of the baskets are released and they attack if they are neutral/aggressive. -The main attack is a hit with one of their front legs, that deals damage on area. -They have fatigue level too (that could be a new stat for them) if this stat runs out, they will start to sleep, no matter where they are. This stat decreases using their species unique abilities. The milk can be used to for increasing this stat, so they do not fall sleep. The 4 fur patterns are: plain (sniffer), spotted (tank), stripped (hairy) and dotted (attacker). Their hair glows in the dark of the bio-luminescent region (with cyan, lilac, violet and blue tones) and the molten region (with pink, purple and red tones). The four sub-species have different abilities and a higher stat compared to the other ones: D.venatodix-plain/sniffer: -Higher stat: speed. -Sniff (new attack): can be used to check if there is an item on a hole; or to track dinos (you must sniff the death body of that dino species) or resources (you have to sniff the resource thrown on the ground). Then some marks like Parasaur's enemies will show you where the nearest dinos or resources of that kind are. D.gravirrus-spotted/tank: -Higher stat: weight. -Stomp (new attack): to stun dinos, break bushes, trees or rocks with their back legs. -While wandering they can pick up items from the ground such as earthquakes' items. D.odoriferum-stripped/hairy: -Higher stat: stamina. -They can cover their fur with different objects this ability consumes one item of the inventory every certain short interval of time and to start this ability there is a small bar of items on the left of the screen similar to Mek's gasoline level for choosing the item): sap (surface's sun protector), gas ball (immunity to radiation), rare flowers (the Diprotodon is followed by other Diprotodons and herbivore dinos), gems (increase defense) or insect repellent. -They can cover their fur with the scent of an object (you have to make them consume the item and they gain a buff for some seconds/minutes): nameless venom (the Diprotodon is ignored by nameless), reaper pheromone (reaper queens follow the Diprotodon so they can be trapped) and angler gel (the Diprotodon glows like small shoulder dinos like Shinehorn). D.hydrimicus-dotted/attacker: -Higher stat: damage. -They have a throwing attack that leaves an area on the ground. They can throw honey (slow down), gas balls (increases torpor) or oil (to burn it). This Diprotodon can stay on turret mode such as Velonasaur and consumes items from its inventory (like the sniffer, it has a bar to select the projectile). -They have a bite attack too. A well-planned Diprotodon formation won´t stop you exploration around the Aberration’s caves and surface. For example, to dive in radiation zones, a hairy Diprotodon will give the nearest creatures immunity to radiation. If your plan is to steal some Rockdrake’s eggs, some attacker Diprotodons as companions will help you to get rid of the beasts. You could even count on a tank to receive all the damage and a sniffer to find the eggs more easily. And this is not considering the dinos carried by them on their saddle. As you can see, each species has its own range of abilities, but combined with a good strategy they can face all the aberrant dangers that await them in this savage world. They are incredibly strong and adapted to every environment, but they have a weakness (already explained before), their sleepiness, that could lead to a failed battle. They may fall sleep on half of a combat, and their fatigue level cannot be increased by level points, so you must be conscious about that. DISCLAIMERS -I am not a professional artist I have tried my best on the dossier and the artworks. I would appreciate any advice for the next drawings. -All the drawings are mine except the dossier icons and templates. -The species names are not real; these names have been created by me combining Latin words related to their own abilities. The original species is Diprotodon optatum. -I know these are too many abilities for one creature but I think the game needs a multitasking ground creature. Any of these abilities can be modified and I would appreciate every advice or idea for the concept. -English is not my first language so please if there are any mistakes let me know on the comments. I am sorry in advance for any mistakes. My objective is to add different and unknown creatures to the game so they can be seen by new people that may discover their amazing potential. Of course, the extinct Diprotodon did not have these abilities, but they were amazing as all the creatures of our planet. I think Ark needs to deepen about australian extinct fauna (and Cenozoic megafauna too), Diprotodon is the third marsupial on the game and a new way to appreciate Australia's unusual fauna. Thank you so much for your attention. Only your view and reading of my post is especially important to me and I appreciate it. I hope you like my Diprotodon concept!! Thanks again.
  4. Thylacosmilus Common name: Thylacosmilus Species: Thylacosmilus magnidon Time period: Pliocene Temperament: Lazy Diet: Carnivore General gameplay concept: Thylacosmilus are medium-sized, saber-toothed marsupials*, roughly between the Ravager and Thylacoleo in size. As marsupials* Thylaocsmilus have a pouch on their bellies, and like the Procoptodon both males and females have one. Light pets can be stored in this pouch, and as this will orient the light pet towards the ground, Seekers will have a smaller aggro radius on you while retaining full effectiveness at repelling Nameless. Thylacosmilus has two attacks, a standard bite and an aimed lunge. The lunge pierces most forms of damage reduction but has a slight cooldown between uses. This lunge can be angled upwards to also act as a charged jump, though its range pales in comparison to those of Karkinos and Reapers. Thylacosimilus’ saber-teeth are always growing and are extremely durable and sharp. So much so, that resourceful survivors can actually hone their tools on a Thylacosmilus’ sabers for some temporary benefits. By equipping any melee/close range tool (ex: not guns or bows, but chainsaws and climbing picks work) and then sharpening it VIA the tame’s radial menu, that tool will gain a buff that increases its damage by 25% and will not use any durability for 5 minutes. This sharpening ability is extra effective on climbing picks, as the effect lasts twice as long on them. Be sure to wait for the right moment to sharpen your tools however, as this ability has a base cooldown of 30 minutes. Thylacosmilus saddles also function as a smithy and automatically unlocks three unique engrams that are only craftable in its saddle, ala the Equus’ lasso. These three are additional armor pieces made from metal, various common to uncommon resources like hide and crystal, and one of the varieties of colored gems. These are applied to the saddle in a similar fashion to a costume, and each gives your Thylacosmilus some additional abilities: - Green gem armor suits Thylacosmilus to a gathering role, giving it 30% weight reduction for any and all items placed in its inventory, increases the spoiler timer of applicable resources in its inventory by a x7.5 multiplier in total (halfway between the preservation of a normal dino’s inventory and that of the preserving bin), and halves the cooldown on the tool-sharpening ability (15 minutes down from the base 30). - Blue gem armor is useful for travel, as it makes sprinting take no stamina ala the Iguanodon’s quadrupedal movement, increases base movement speed by 20%, and causes most predators to have a harder time detecting you similar to the effect of a ghillie suit. - Red gem armor is all about combat, granting an additional 15% damage resistance, 20% more damage, dismount immunity, and grants the lunge attack the ability to inflict the Gnashed effect. Red gem armor also allows the Thylacosmilus to benefit from and contribute to the pack bonuses of any applicable tamed creatures nearby, which can stack if they are in a mixed pack (say, Ravagers and Raptors). Not only that, but they can roar to momentarily give all allied, pack oriented tames the same shared boost. In addition to their specialized roles, all three armor skins provide the Thylacosmilus immunity to most negative status effects, such as bleeds, stuns, and slows. However, green and blue armor don’t prevent dismounts and none of them prevent the Thylacosmils from being grabbed by dinos capable of doing so. Taming Ideas and Wild state: Wild Thylacosmilus are found in all three zones of the ARK, being rarest in the Red zone while being equally common in both the Green and Blue zones. They can be found both wandering about and sleeping at regular intervals. Sleeping individuals are easy to sneak up upon and take significantly increased torpor gain from the first hit that they take, but be warned that Thylacosmilus understandably don’t respond well to being woken up this way and will attack you with much greater ferocity than normal. In this state, wild Thylacosmilus gain the blue gem speed buff AND the red gem’s gnash-inducing lunge. Thylacosmilus are somewhat traditional knockout tames, but with a slight twist. They receive only a quarter of the torpor from tranq arrows and darts, but in turn are especially susceptible to other forms of torpor delivery. Clubs, electric prods, scorpion stings, Equus kicks, and more are the way to go when knocking Thylacosmilus out. Stats, Attacks, and Misc. Size: A little smaller than their redwood-loving relatives, the Thylacoleo Health: Moderate to high, maybe around 600 with an average gain per level Speed: Moderately quick, very fast when under the effect of blue gem armor. Maybe balanced so it is a little slower than a Megalosaur without the armor but just faster than one with it. Weight: 450 with a slightly lower per stat gain than a Ravager Primary, LMB attack: Simple claw swipe, OK damage but nothing fancy. Gathers chitin, keratin, and organic polymer at an increased rate. Secondary, RMB attack: Thylacosmilus lunges a few dozen feet in whichever direction you are looking at, dealing heavy damage to anything you hit along the way. This attack pierces through most forms of damage reduction and gains the Gnashed effect with red gem armor equipped. Tertiary C ability: Roar for aesthetics normally, shares pack buff when equipped with red gen armor. Jump: Roughly equivalent height to a Ravager Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thylacosmilus *Technically they aren’t really, but this is ARK TLDR: Mammalian predator with a saddle smithy, craftable armor based on the colored gems that give different abilities when equipped. Can sharpen melee tools and weapons to boost damage and halt durability temporarily. Tamed by knockout, but highly resistant to arrows and darts.
  5. The thylacine is also known as there marsupial wolf or tiger if it was in ark it should be able to get higher damage for haveing a larger pack and with the ability to drag small creature bodies like dodos to moschops and it should appear on scorched earth and eat raw meat
  6. Taming With their very stubborn dispositions, it’s near impossible to tame an adult Diprotodon. Being hardened by endless hordes of corrupted, they treat anything foreign as a danger! However, in their tight knit herds, the babies tend to be much more friendly and inquisitive. It’ll be difficult to get past the wall that is their angry parents and relatives though… If you’re brave or foolish enough to sneak into the inner folds of the herd, simply passively feeding the babies Sweet Vegetable Cakes will cause them to follow you, and from there you can lead them away with even more sweet treats to have them join your tribe. Once you’ve raised up the giant pup you’ll have yourself a powerful war steed! A unique ability of the armour is that it reduces the effects of harmful elemental attacks (like fire damage and poison breath) by half! 7. My idea for the Proborhyaena is to make it an anti flyer tame as currently it is too safe in the sky, this will probably get sorta fixed with the Rhyniognatha but it has yet to be confirmed if it spawns on Scorched Earth and Wyverns are likely to remain king of the sky even if it does, besides this we don't have a lot of marsupials in the game and for the other creatures which aren't that common in ark: water tames wouldn't work on Scorched, we just got an insect and I have no unique idea for a Sinapsid lmao. (I'm not an artistic genious so there won't be a dossier sorry) Wild: The Proborhyaena likes to live alone near the mountains where it protects its territory from any survivor or creature who dares to approach, scaring them off using their powerful leap not too different from a that of a Thylacoleo only it does not need a tree to pounce on its prey as it uses its powerful hind legs to jump similarly to a Procoptodon to pin down even Argentavis, yet it seems to struggle with Wyverns they can reach them but with their powerful wings the Wyverns can not be pinned down, instead it sticks on like a Deinonychus! but unlike the Deinonychus it can not attack while holding on, instead it applies a strong bleed by seeping in its claws deeper and deeper into the Wyvern's flesh, that paired with its high weight which is due to its large rear leg muscles will eventually tire out the Wyvern forcing it to land where the Proborhyaena has the advantage. Taming: Only once have I seen a tribe being able to tame the Proborhyaena, they did this by beating it in its own territory and feeding it Wyvern milk to recover after the fight. Domesticated: After taming the Proborhyaena it will remain incredibly loyal for the rest of its life and can be used to traverse the vast desert with relative ease, besides this they are used by the tribe to knock enemy survivors who are taking advantage of their flyers out of the sky to not only take their loot but also shatter their confidence, the tribe said that while strong against flyers the Proborhyaena seems to almost always lose to Deathworms, the tribe leader told me it is because they have been so specialized at fighting off enemies from above that it almost can not fight anything from beneath, the tribe also told me there is a little extra but they won't tell me what I guess I'll have to figure that out myself. Left click: simple bite, does 10-20% extra damage to flyers but about 5-10% less damage to underground creatures like Deathworms (and Basilisks, Reapers, Nameless' etc if transferred) Right click: powerful leap that charges like the Procoptodon, Reaper, Crab etc but works more like that of a Thyla (when it jumps off a tree) with its movement and the fact it pins down targets, if a target is too big (basically anything Rex sized which or up in Scorched that would mean Deathworms, Yuty's, Paracers, Giga's, Charchar's, Titanosaurus' and Rock golems) it will not work unless they are flyers like the Quetzal, Wyverns, Astrocetus and maybe Rhynio in which case it'll grab onto it like the Deinonychus which applies a bleed, rapidly drains target's stamina and slows them down eventually forcing them to the ground, if they land while the Proborhyaena is attached they'll recieve a debuff causing them to regen stamina 20% slower and recieve 10% extra damage C key: a roar which is either asthetic or applies a debuff similar to a Yuty only without them running away would only work on quite small creatures like Raptor's or smaller Passive 1: reduced fall damage Passive 2: reduced damage taken from flyers and increased damage taken by underground creatures Passive 3: rider can't be picked up off the back by flyers Base stat idea: Hp: 500-600 Stamina: 400-500 Weight: 500 Damage: lmb: 50-55, rmb: 10-20 dps speed: slightly slower than Thyla like 80-90% of its speed saddle would probably be unlocked between level 60 and 70 would probably have basically the same cost as the Thyla saddle only every resource multiplied by 1.5 for the cost and would have the normal 25 armor and 20 weight the design could include some defense from above to fit the whole passive 3 thing info about the real thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proborhyaena picture:
  8. From the album: Dossiers

A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone’s favourite powerful pouncing predator, the Tylacoleo! Common Name: Thylacoleo Species: Thylacoleo Furtimorsus Time: Late Pliocene - Late Pleistocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Thylacoleo Furtimorsus is a large, powerful marsupial that can often be found hunting around trees. Its long claws and semi-opposable digits make it an apt climber, a quality that Thylacoleo uses to its advantage while hunting. It clambers up trees and waits to ambush passing prey by pouncing upon them. When something that large jumps onto a target, it becomes stunned and doesn’t stand much chance. Thylacoleo’s most notable fighting quality is its powerful jaws. Once it bites its prey, it locks its jaw in an iron-strength grip that can hold most smaller creatures in place. Thylacoleo then goes on to savage its prey with its sharp claws. If it needs to escape a fight, Thylacoleo uses its muscular hind legs to jump back to safety among the trees. Domesticated: Thylacoleo is a moderately strong mount, and its ability to climb trees and jump long distances makes it useful for traversal such that developing tribes often tame it. Small raiding parties particularly favor Thylacoleo, as it is well suited to ambushes and unfair fights.
