  1. The Josephoartigasia was the largest rodent to ever exist, approaching near the size of an american bison. Living in South America from 3 to 2 million years ago, it was a neighbor to other iconic south american megafauna like giant ground sloths, glyptodonts, and terror birds. Living on an island continent, it filled the ecological niche that hippos fill today, that of large, amphibious herbivores. Given this, and the geography of the Center, I believe it would be right at home on the map. A useful, amphibious tame full of abilities, this giant rodent can take you across the map's landscape, travel across the waterways, and even fulfill your deep sea diving adventures. Abilities: -Standard bite: A standard bite that can deal damage and collect materials -Pacify: Modern capybaras are renowned for their ability to get along with seemingly all types of creatures, and on an Ark full of predators the Josephoartigasia has taken this a step further. Like their modern relatives, their fur is oily. This oil in their dense fur secretes a serum that pacifies the creatures around it. Once tamed this oil can be passively collected and refined into a new form of darts, which, opposite to the ammonite bile darts that anger every creature around them, pacifies all creatures around them. This, in the right hands, can be very beneficial for taming as it’ll make your target docile for a short period of time. This oil can also be used the same way normal oil can, and can be rubbed off onto a survivor giving them a temporary passive effect for as long as the oil stays on. -Water buff: Similar to the spino and shadowmane, while making contact with water it will receive a buff that gives it added speed and damage. -Chomp and knaw: Rodents have some of the most durable teeth in nature, and the biggest rodent is no different. Able to knaw and chomp on structures they can wear down and break all structures below metal and tek. Behavior: Josephoartigasia are generally passive creatures, and can be approached safely by survivors. While not completely tied to the water, they are most comfortable around it. When attacked, they will fight back, but once their health has been lowered enough they’ll attempt to pacify before running back to the water. They can actually run fairly fast, meaning that they can get back to the water quickly. While they spend most of the day in the water with regular but quick trips to the shore to forage, they spend most of the night grazing on land. This makes taming at night easier since they are more readily available to begin the process. During the day while in the water they are often seen submerged with their heads, nose and ears sticking out of the water, similar to a hippo(see reference below). Taming: Tamed passively, these large animals mainly subsist on aquatic foliage, however they like to knaw and maintain the condition of their teeth every now and then. Survivors can tame them by placing structures near them, then wait for them to approach. Once next to a structure, the Josephoartigasia will gnaw on said structure. This preoccupies them, allowing for a survivor to approach them and feed them their preferred food, honey and superior kibble. Note that wooden structures seem to be best suited for this, with wooden foundations paired with walls and door frames being most suitable. Saddle: There are two options when it comes to saddles. A basic saddle that can be unlocked earlier, and a submarine type saddle that can be used as a small mobile water port. Similar to the andrewsarchus turret saddle but for the water, this small submarine type saddle comes equipped with a light that can make swimming through the map's abyss easier. When inside their advisable air, meaning no matter how deep you go you won’t have to worry about running out of air while inside. The submarine is small, proportionate to a small platform saddle, but is still large enough to have a harpoon launcher and jets for added speed attached to its sides. This saddle can hold two passengers, while the normal saddle can only hold one. Appearance: While resembling the real animal, it has color patterns similar to its closest living relative, the Pacarana(see reference down below). Its appearance and color pattern will also greatly resemble a capybara but with a broader build and longer tail. About the size of a trike, they are sizable creatures and much bigger than Ark's other amphibious rodent, the castoroides. Additional visual examples:
  2. The Submarin Saddle!! It is supposed to be a walk in saddle, a indoor submarine saddle as a little base an armory. the biggest saddle ever in the ARK history!! And he have also a periscope in it!! the ideas from ThatWAFFLEGuy49 My suggestion for the saddle is, as explained above, a metal saddle that encloses the riders (which can hold a similar number of players to a diplo) and provides them with oxygen, allows for missiles to be fired out of the top and into the air to hit targets on land that are targeted via an aiming system that uses the RTS system to click where the missile (which would Rocket Propelled Grenades for normal ammo or Rocket Homing Missiles if the rider just wants to set the target and forget it for continuous firing on that one particular spot). It could also have a second saddle which would be cheaper to create, but wouldn't provide oxygen to riders and would resemble a simple wooden ship on the back of the Livyatan with cannons along the sides for whale defense (just as Davy Jones intended). It would also gain a defensive buff if it is fed a Megacheleon shell fragment, an speed buff if fed a megalodon tooth, or can be enraged into an attack buff if fed a tuso tentacle. My personal suggestion for taming a Livyatan is to use harpoon guns and tranq spear bolts to lower the "rage" meter while it's trying to run away, then feeding by hand once it's been soothed (via similar minigame to the Equus, where the survivor holds onto one of its fins while it's thrashing about until it can be fed to increase the taming percentage), then working together with it to either kill whatever prey it is currently hunting (like an Amargasaurus, but easier, as there will be a prompt revealing what the Livyatan is craving at that moment) or, if you're lucky enough to have the organs it wants specifically (Megacheleon shell fragments, megalodon teeth, or Tuso tentacles) on hand, you can feed it the organs by hand for a little bit of an increased taming speed instead of hunting down the prey and killing it. Knocking it out results in the Livyatan drowning, as it still has to breach the surface at some point to refill its lungs, although it can hold its breath for an incredibly long amount of time. or a other saddle idea: Rainboy from the Fjördur Submission!! so it will be similar to the astrocetus but underwater, and its saddle will be basicly the top of a submarine. and instead of manned turret it has homing or normal torpedo(kinda like the rocker launcher ammo where it has homing and non homing.) and instead of the bombing ability it will have cruise missile. by using this ability to either will use it like the cruise missile we have in the game rn( you have to control it yourself) or it you can set a location for it to hit. and player will not drain oxygen when riding it. to balance it out. to use the cruise missiles. every shot will cost tuso tenticle(s). (similar to how magamasaur need metal ingot and astrocetus needs ambergris. ) and it is weak to mosasaurus and is very slow. and then saddle will have a enclosed prebuild room that is water free. kinda like a mixture between a platform saddle and a underwater vacuum compartment. where it will just be a empty room and you can build in it. KapitanKibiro02 ideas from the Fjördur Submission!! Wild: This Beast is quite slow and lumbering at first, simply swimming about rather absentmindedly all throughout the sea. Seemingly aware of it's status as "The Biggest and Baddest thing in any body of water", until either a starving Mosa or Gutsy Tuso provokes it. Then it quickly goes on the offensive. Also like it's more modern relative the "Sperm Whale" it has incredibly versatile and effective Sonar Capabilities, however due to Livyatan's massive size and almost frighteningly somehow higher intelligence, it appears to have been able to weaponize it's Sonar Capabilities, giving it a highly stunning projectile, to smaller creatures (like say, a survivor looking to tame it) this may deal severe, lethal damage. But to something as big as a Mosasaur it's much more effective as a stun option, allowing Livyatan all the time in the world to swim up to it's newfound prey and bite a massive chunk out of it.Tamed: Despite it reacting to most land creatures with more curiosity than aggression, Livyatan's ability to kill a Survivor without even needing to touch it means it's safe to say that taming a creature this absolutely massive and powerful is no easy task. However once tamed this becomes an incredibly reliable companion and mobile fortress. It's Saddle being able to be built upon whilst also allowing submersive capabilities. I've seen warring tribes pit Livyatan against each other in an "epic sea battle" for rich underwater resources. Also as a way to easily destroy enemy ocean platforms, Livyatan is able to use a very very short quick burst of speed and use it's massive head as a battering ram. needless to say, if I were a pirate or someone who lived for the open seas, you could do absolutely no better than this Lethal Leviathan.In all seriousness having a creature that's meant to be like an actual massive slow ship that kinda goes at it's own momentum. Instead of just "an underwater rex" like the majority of what's in the ocean feels like. there's no variety in the oceans except for the Tuso because it has unique attacks and abilities and the Megachelon because you can permanently breath and build a base on it's back, but there's not enough space or build limit to make it into a proper "Armored Sub" and not to mention it's attacks are pathetic. having the Livyatan fill the role of a fusion of a Nuclear Sub and a Gangplank Galleon or something, as well as just naturally having good stats would completely revitalize Ocean Combat and make it much more diverse and fun for a lot of players, and would also double as a way to actively (and fairly) attack players on Ocean Platforms as well. General description: As mentioned in the dossier, the livyatan is the new strongest water creature in ark, being strong enough to take down anything in its path in a fair 1v1. It's basically the giga of the ocean, having the same spawn rate and stuff, perhaps having a bit lower stats but making up for it with more stamina and its echolocation, which it uses both like a parasaur does and as a sonic blast that stuns, deals damage to and weakens nearby creatures. Being the king of the ocean, it will attack absolutely anything that's not either smaller than a basilosaurus or an alpha named alpha tusotuthis. Yes, they will fight and stand their ground, even sometimes killing wild alpha tusotuthis. Abilities: lmb: Bite - A basic bite, its main way to kill. rmb: Sonic Blast - The livyatan lets out a huge sound blast, stunning any enemy creatures as well as dealing damage and increasing the amount of damage they take for a short while. c; Sonar - Like the parasaurs. Turret Mode: The same as the parasaur. You can change it to other tribes/attacking creatures only, and in doing so will also change the manual sonar to do the same. Passive: Squid hunter - Livyatan deals more damage to tusotuthis and their alpha variant, as well as taking reduced damage from them and being unable to be blinded by their ink. The main goal of this thread is to advocate the addition of Koolasuchus to Ab, there are many unique concepts made by alot of people that are worth checking out. heres ours, Koolasuchus-Lumenvortex In Depth Overview WILD Wild koolasuchus can be found in the waterways of the fertile region and more commonly found in the bioluminescence zone, only on rare occasions found in bodies of liquid element. Koolasuchus hunt by using a cloaking ability they convergently evolved with rock drakes. While cloaked only their glowing tongue lure is visible that they use to attract prey. For the most part when hunting koolasuchus is stationary in ambush, however they're not above creeping towards a potential meal and violently wriggle they're lure to gain the attention of fish and other would be prey. Once prey is close enough to its open mouth, koolasuchus will create a violent whirlpool to suck in its food. Larger creatures however are able to weather this vortex or are unaffected all together. Unfortunate victims of koolasuchus will find themselves stuck in a mouth with double rowed razor sharp teeth. Once koolasuchus has captured its prey it will un-cloak and begin to violently shake its prey. For players who get caught they will be prompted a struggle interaction for their freedom similar to that of the bloodstalker and tropeognathus. Fighting inside the mouth of a koolasuchus is far without its consequences, the longer you stay in its mouth the more health you lose over time with the maximum amount of it you can lose is 90%. For fish and smaller creatures get one-shot after getting sucked in. If anything manages to escape its mouth they'll find their stamina significantly depleted. Koolasuchus has a moderate land speed,that more often than not, isn't enough to pursue prey. It makes up for this by striking its prey using high pressure jets of water to knock their prey off balance and disorient them for easy recapture. ECOLOGY Koolasuchus is not the apex predator in its environment, however it's no pushover. Its ignored by anything sarcosuchus sized and below. Frequently clashing with with karkinos and spinosaurus in their vicinity.Koolasuchus are always looking for new sources of food, driving them to consume bizarre things including plant species z fruit and environmental element. They have strong inclination to eat plant z fruit solely for their explosive properties similar to how humans enjoy spicy food,otherwise they gain zero nutrients from consuming it. The explosion of charge from the fruit has a narcotic effects on their body intoxicating them and causing them to fall into drunken stupor. In this state they'll happily accept food from survivors in the form of meat and kibble. Koolasuchus regularly traverses vast distances in search of new food rich areas to hunt, one problem the verticality of the river flows works against most most aquatic and semi aquatic animals. Koolasuchus has a solution to this, it's powerful paddle like tail is strong enough to launch itself unimaginable heights out of the water and clearing the tallest of waterfalls and nearby cliffs. With this ability they frequent the areas of liquid element in the deepest parts of the cave system. They do this only to feed and absorb it into their bodies. They use it as a supplement to their diet where they can intake it to the same water storage organ behind their throat. This very relationship with liquid element and its passive exposure over the millenia caused it to evolve and amplify its features. TAMING To tame a koolasuchus is no easy feat, most attempts end in failure and death. Once a koolasuchus has been identified, proceed with caution. They can only be fed when they're in cloaked hunting mode. Once it begins to move its lure you can begin your approach, it will acknowledge your presence and begin to slowly creep towards you. Once it begins to create its vortex this is your chance to throw a plant z fruit to get sucked in. The fruit will get sucked down its throat where it reacts with its stomach acid and explodes. This will abruptly stop the vortex and cause it to *hiccup* the charge particles. This will cause them to un-cloak and lose aggro. After some amount of time the koolasuchus will re enter its hunting mode and this is where you make your approach. Repeat this process until it's knocked out and ready to be tamed. DOMESTICATION Once tamed a koolasuchus will comes with 2 variations of saddle a normal saddle made out of leather(unlockable at lv70) and a reinforced pod saddle(unlockable at lv85) that protects the rider from all environmental harm and provides oxygen allowing them to stay submerged almost indefinitely. When faced with a waterfall or any nearby cliff, koolasuchus has the ability to charge up a jump where its can launch itself to heights based on how long its held.With the pod saddle survivors can brave the otherwise deadly liquid element, as koolasuchus is immune to its effects. The same way they intake water to weaponize when hunting can be repurposed to intake and harvest the abundant element. The capacity of this organ can be upgraded as it replaces the oxygen Stat so it can be upgraded to carry either more water or element or a mixture of both. Once element is present in the body of koolasuchus its storage organ glows a faint purple hue and it gains 2 new abilities. Its water spout ability now infused with liquid element apply a poison debuff to whatever it hits chipping away its health over a short period of time. It's other ability, element refining which takes a tremendous amount of energy from the animal, is a mode that you can set it too. During this process its mobility is limited and can only take place with a 70% element capacity and a 30% water capacity present. Once the available element is refined to a usable state, it'll be signified by by a blue glow instead of a purple one. If set to wandering and aggressive in a body water it will begin to hunt as it would in the wild. This lure will attract fish to to its mouth where it can swallow them rewarding it with the same type of loot survivors get when fishing normally only on a larger and more efficient scale. Breeding koolasuchus is similar to that of other aquatic and semi aquatic creatures. It's eggs are incubated in water and it's young are born with gills like it's smaller amphibian relatives. Abilities and gameplay Overview Attacks: Bite: A basic left click bite Water spout:Using a small amount of its stored water capacity, koola can snipe its targets at range with a high pressure jet of water like an archerfish. Element spout:Similar to the water spout attack, but when infused with liquid element it applies a temporary poison debuff with ticks for 70% of koolas damage every 3 secs for 45 secs Suction/vortex:It creates a vortex that can suck in creatures(including other survivors)under a certain drag weight and one shots any fish caught and rewards a random drop of fishing loot. Any unfortunate creatures that get sucked in are swallowed whole and spat out at %10 of their original health. Tail whip:A heavy tail whip that causes knockback to anything hit by it. Mobility and travel koolasuchus' traversal of the interconnected river systems on aberration is unparalled, it boasts high water speed along with the ability to launch itself out of the water similar to that of manta rays and shadowmanes. when this jump ability is used infront of a waterfall it can quite literally run up a waterfall of any height as long as it has enough stamina, completely negating gravity. This makes trips between the red, blue and green zones a breeze. koolasuchus is completely immune to the liquid element rivers unlocking a path of transport thats rarely utilised. Otherwise slow on land(similar walk and sprint speed to a sarco) koolasuchus can make use of the mucus that covers its body. When element is present in its body, koolasuchus can secrete small amounts that amplify its mucus' lubrication properties. When used, this gives koola a temporary speed boost allowing it to slip and slide throught the map(similar to maewing)instead of sprinting, especially downhill. Utilities Liquid(water and molten element) intake: Koolasuchus can intake large amounts of liquid and store for later use, the water storage capacity replaces its oxygen stat which means it can be upgraded with extra levels. When present in the liquid element rivers, koolasuchus can harvest and store this abundant resource for various uses. Element conversion: When the right amount of liquid element and water are present in its body, koolasuchus can convert/refine liquid element to its various stages(dust, shards and solid element). During this process koola is unable to move and takes a long time depending on the stage of element selected, if the survivor so chooses, the solid element can be converted back into liquid for other various uses. Cloaking: Koolasuchus can cloak similar to the rockdrakes and shadowmanes which means its gets ignored by surrounding creatures. The only downside to this is that only its lure tongue is visible while its cloaked which tends to attract smaller creatures to investigate it. Luring creatures: An ability only available while cloaked, koola can wiggle its lure to temporary attract normally aggressive creatures to investigate and possibly follow it. These creatures will briefly hang around the glowing lure(without attacking) and then promptly resume their normal wild idle behavior.
