Dynamic Environment Effects Attaching to You/Dinos (Moss, Mud, Snow, Ash, Sand)
Kaho posted a suggestion in Game Suggestions
Granting that buildings now in ARK Survival Ascended has a Snowy Effect when building at the Snowy Biome, I'm thinking why not also apply it on humans and creatures (can be optionally turned on & off in the settings). It may look simple but the visual cue of the environment aside from the ambience can further add to the immersion. Dynamic Environmental Effects such as Mud, Moss, Snow, Rain, Ash, Sand, Radiation, Corruption, Poison Please look at the examples below:- 1 reply

Inspired by Nycticebus linglom, a prehistoric primate known only from a single tooth as well as Slow lorises, the only venomous primate to exist. I figured that the Lorises venom could be adapt well to the idea of corruption and started brainstorming a bunch of ideas but feel free to share your own. Also, sorry in advance for the quality and typos! I'm a noob at making these! Wild: Being a relatively small and solitary creature, the Loris spends most of its time in the canopy of trees, only ever coming down if an opportunity to grab an easy meal appears. A rare sight due to their nature and habitat the Lorises simian intelligence along with its unique attributes has enabled it to survive outside of the protective domes significantly easier than most creatures would. The only venomous primate found on the Arks, the Lorises venom is a side effect of its diet which consists primarily of the corrupted flesh from wild creatures. This venom has a surprising amount of uses beyond just poisoning enemies that are bitten by the Loris. Corrupted creatures seem to ignore the Loris, which I assume to be because they view it as one of them. This effect also seems to apply to those near a loris which leads me to believe it has something to do with the Loris' scent or perhaps pheromones given off by the creature via special glands. Domesticated: In order to tame one of these odd primates survivors must offer them either corrupted nodules or corrupted hearts with hearts being the more effective of the two. Once tamed survivors will find that while not particularly useful in head-to-head combat the Loris does provide unique utility with its venom and other corruption-based abilities. The Lorises venom can be harvested and turned into a special elixir that when consumed can temporarily "corrupt" the consumer, granting them a boost in ferocity and causing wild corrupt creatures to ignore them. Should the Loris bite a wild corrupted creature or the creature of an enemy that creature can temporarily be forced onto your side. Lorises also gather more corrupt materials when harvesting them and make it harder for wild corrupt creatures to notice nearby survivors and tames. Though it is too small to ride it can be equipped with a specialized saddle, similar to the Hyaenodon, with the Lorises saddle acting much like a chemistry bench. To anyone who reads this, thanks in advance. I know it's not flashy or cool but I appreciate everyone who does.

Mosquito – Burmaculex Antiquus – A Cure for Corruption
Cruzoor69 posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Name: Mosquito Species Name: Burmaculex Antiquus Time Period: Late Cretaceous to Modern Day Diet: Omnivorous Temperament: Territorial Introduction Mosquitoes have been around for millions of years. According to fossil records, one of the oldest known mosquitoes, Burmaculex Antiquus, dates back to the late Cretaceous. While there isn’t much information on the prehistoric ancestors of mosquitos, we can assume they were no different from their modern-day descendants. Since these creature votes require a prehistoric animal to be submitted, I have chosen Burmaculex Antiquus for the species since there is more information on the wiki about it than others. The question is; what would it be like in Ark? Since this submission is geared toward creating an exclusive creature for Extinction, there is an opportunity to play with the creature’s abilities. Perhaps due to the element that has infected the world, the mosquito has had to evolve into something different in order to survive like the gasbag. So, here’s my take on the mosquito if it came to the map. Note: If you're wondering about the omnivorous thing, apparently mosquitoes drink plant juices as well as animal blood. I don’t know if only some species do this, or all can. Just wanted to add it in. Wiki page on Mosquito: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosquito Wiki page on Burmaculex Antiquus: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burmaculex_antiquus Wild Found in the wastelands of extinction, Mosquitoes could be found flying around water sources. About the size of Meganeura or Titanomymra, the creatures in the area don’t seem to notice when the bugs attach themselves to their bodies and feed off them. Not even the more violent corrupted variations seem to mind. What is odder is that the mosquitoes would rather go for the nearest corrupted creature than the regular ones. Once the mosquitoes have had their fill, they would return to a nest and deposit what they have collected. Unlike bees, several mosquitos would occupy the nest without a queen. When survivors approach the mosquitoes, they may or may not bother to attach themselves depending on what players have on them. Element or Tek-based equipment would attract them and if they latch on to the survivor, they would not only lose health slowly but durability or energy from their equipment. Like with leeches, the way players would remove them would be to use a campfire or heat source to burn the suckers off. Or use Bug Repellant. Attacking them would provoke them to attack and the survivors may find themselves being swarmed. Harvesting them when killed would yield chitin and raw meat with a rare chance of corrupted nodules which also drop from corrupted creatures. Taming When it comes to taming a mosquito, the idea would be to tame them with offerings. This offer would be corrupted nodules or other element-based resources such as dust, shards, ore, or just element itself. The mosquito would attract itself to the survivor and consume the element resource. Depending on which element is used in the taming process would be more effective. Dust being the least and element the most. Very similar to Bloodshalkers and Desmodus. Note: Considering how dangerous the wastelands are with corrupted creatures spawning rapidly, I didn’t want to make the taming too complex. Once Tamed Once tamed, the mosquito could be carried around like a shoulder pet. In its inventory, the survivor would be able to craft a mosquito nest that the creature can inhabit. Placing it down like a beehive, the survivor could assign a maximum of 5 to 10 mosquitoes to it. Unlike the bees, the bugs would be able to leave the nest if the survivor wishes and the nest could also be destroyed without destroying them. After being assigned to a nest, mosquitoes would fly off to feed on creatures. Bringing back corrupted nodules. Inside the nest, corrupted nodules would start appearing as the mosquitoes go to work. Not only would it be a way of generating the polymer substitute but over time, the nest would turn it into a new resource called Liquefied Element. This resource would be used in serval different ways such as powering Tek-based structures, fuel for generators and equipment, and creating element. Purification The main reason why I chose the mosquito was to find a way of taming corrupted creatures other than through mods. I doubt that the devs would allow us to tame corrupted creatures in the usual ways (depending on the species), so I came up with an idea to make it possible. As previously stated, Mosquitoes would go out into the world and find the nearest corrupted creature to feed from. What if the mosquitoes would not only harvest the corrupted nodules from the creature but also cure it, slowly turning the creature into a regular version? Thus, allowing survivors to tame it. How could we see that the purification process is happening? Visually speaking, we would see the purple corruption of the creature slowly disappear. Using a spyglass or magnifying glass to see what percent the creature has been purified. Alternatively, instead of changing into a regular creature, the mosquitoes would turn the creature into a purified version. Changing the corrupted purple color into a purified blue. It would not be tamed afterward though. The survivor would have to tame it the usual way. Either way, if the creature was left alone for too long, the corruption would return. Conclusion It's more than likely players would rather have a bigger and rideable version of the mosquito. Capable of attaching itself to a corrupted creature like the Deinonychus and drinking its fluids. However, I felt like it would be too similar to the Rhyniognatha in appearance since it would be another giant rideable bug. So, I opted for something smaller, giving it a supporting role. The purpose overall was to find a way of making a creature that allowed us to tame corrupted creatures which would not only allow players to tame high levels but possibly a new variant. But this is just my take on the Mosquito. What do you think? Note: It came down between the Mosquito or Chickenosaurus for this submission and truth be told, the latter was silly. -
Jeholopterus - Corruption vampire Extinction is map that is largely defined by it's corruption. Through out the wasteland are hundreds of corrupted creatures that are highly aggressive, that players must face in nearly every circumstance. There are many creatures that are great against corrupted creatures like the enforcer, but there isn't creature that specialises fighting against this corruption. Introducing - Jeholopterus, the dracula for the corrupted. Species: Jeholopterus ninchengensis Time: Middle-Late Jurassic Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: For once, I can say I'm lucky when it comes to coming across deadly animals across this wastelands. Jeholopterus is a small predator that only preys on element infested beast and has no interest on hariming non corrupted animals. They can be found all around the wasteland preying on unsuspecting infected organism. Alone these small aggressive flyers tend to hunt smaller corrupted animals like raptors, in a similar way to desmodus draculae. The creaute crapples down on smaller corrupted creatures and sucks out the element from them, killing the victim. Due to it's small size an unattended Jeholopterus is too weak to face off larger predaotrs, however I've heard from other survivors of large Jeholopterus packs hunting down corrupted dinosaurs like a rex. According to them, they saw the entire pack of these element suckers fly on to the tyrannosaurs back and begin to suck it's life out. To make things worse for anyone corrupted, I've learned that the more Jeholopterus feeds on element, the more viscious and routhless they become. They become faster, stronger and even a small pack of 3 is enough to kill the strongest corrupted animal and that only leaves them more hungry for element. Abilities and features: A shoulder pet for your dinos: Jeholopterus is a bit too large for it to be your average shoulder pet (about the same size as a seeker from aberration.) To carry them around, they will latch on to your tames and depending the size of your tame, you can carry multiple of them. Latch ability: Similar to the deinonychus, these small vampires will latch onto their prey and eat them alive. Combined this with the dino carrying mechanic, you can command an army of flying jehos on a large mount. Tek and corruption mode: Because the jeholopterus is all about eating element, it has two modes for taking out element invested foes. The first is corrupted, this is all for taking out corrupted creatures and best suited for orbital supply drops and elemental veins. When this mode is active, every corrupted creature in the area will be highlighted in a purple outline, making them visible through to the terrain, making it impossible for them to hide from you. Besides that, this mode also gives them a massive buff against corrupted dinos. When a jeho latches onto a corrupted dino, the prey will get a massive speed debuff, damage degrees and will take more damage from other attacks (this ability will stack depending how many jehos are latched onto one creature). In this mode, jeho will be able to detect any orbital supply drop or elemental vein on the map. And for a visual effect, the creature will have a purple tint. The second is tek mode Tek mode is perfect for PvP. This mode will outline anything tek related near them (Survivors wearing tek, tek structures, meks, tek creatures etc). The atennas on their head will have a tiny EMP ability that will disable tek turrets near them. They also do increased damage to anything tek and when latched onto a tek creature or mek, will significantly slow the victim down and drain them of their element, leaving them vulnerable to anything around them. For visual effect, the jeho will have a blue tint. other notes: •When hunting corrupted creatures, the Jeholopterus might have a chance to harvest unstable element. •they will glow any dark places around them with their atennas. Diabloceratops - Corrupted Ceratopsian
ArkUser123 posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
I had a drawing of what I wanted this creature to look like but the file size is too large unfortunately. Regardless of that, Diabloceratops is an endgame creature built for battle and speed. Its horns can pierce through armor as well as scare away large creatures with its mighty bellow. As usual everything is subject to change by Wildcard so this is just a general idea. Wild I have never seen a ceratopsian be so angry at the world. The mere existence of any living thing within a 100 feet or so makes a Diabloceratops absolutely furious! The element running through their veins like blood allows them to charge at insane speeds and crash through even tek structures. Their element powered horn attacks and mighty stomps can sear and burn armor and creatures alike. The savage roar of these monstrous ceratopsians causes weakness in even the strongest of creatures. I do wonder if they can be tamed. Domestication Diabloceratops cannot actually be tamed as adults as they are too resilient for tranquilizers and far too aggressive for passive feeding. You must find a fertilized egg to steal and hatch just like Wyverns. The baby will not be passive and will be wild and aggressive, attacking you, your tames, and your tribemates! To soothe its rage you simply feed it honey. However this will only work until they reach adolescence because their aggression overwhelms the effects of the honey and it will become aggressive again. This time you must use a chain bola the beast. Keep in mind that they can easily decimate the ballista turret even when they're young. When immobilized by the chain bola, they can be fed bio toxin and thus be knocked out. And to wrap it all up you just feed the beast some extraordinary kibble, element, or corrupted nodules and it will be tamed. When fully grown, these beasts make for the perfect war mounts to raid enemies' bases. Diabloceratops has a tek saddle that allows it to run faster and use up less stamina. It's roar scares away smaller creatures and weakens the damage of large creatures. Its horn attacks pierce armor and its capable of damaging tek with its charge attack. It is also capable of burning away at armor, structures, and opponents using the power of element. Is capable of eating meat due to adapting to the harsh wasteland environment and lack of food. Diabloceratops also receives a small damage bonus when its in a group. (This image is from google but my drawing was similar other than the fact that it was blue with a purple version of the blue marks that managarmrs have on their underbodies, as well as spikey plates on its tail and legs as well as larger horns, just try and picture it if you want since I can't attach it)-
