  1. Sinomegaceros pachyosterus 1. Artwork : Art by Emily Stepp, who did an awesome job with this creature! You can see at the bottom the colors and affect of the different mushroom antlers (sorry for the quality, i can't upload pictures with better resolution, but i have the file, if anyone is interrested to see, just ask ) 2. Dossier Text : Common Name: Sinomegaceros Species : Sinomegaceros pachyosterus Time : Pleistocene Diet : Herbivorous Temperament: Neutral (become aggressive when you’re near their fawns) Wild : This majestic deer like creature, relative to the Megaloceros, its truly quite a sight! Their huge shield-like antlers are really setting them apart. But even with their unique antler, it's not what makes them truly special. Sinomegaceros, like deers like to use hallucinogenic mushrooms, but on the Aberration Ark, with the presence of mutagenic molten element, something wonderful (or horrifying happened): They adapted and developed a symbiosis with mushrooms, and consuming one, trigger dormant mutation allowing them to change and use spores of different species of mushrooms, which are at their fullest potential within the Sinomegaceros body. Domesticated: Sinomegaceros is a really useful creature to venture around the Aberration Ark, with several temporary forms induced with different mushrooms and spores. Some forms can get you across molten element region without harm, fend off Reapers and Nameless with charge light, across water, or even turn into an ethereal spore form. Additionally they can protect you from various ill effects from creatures, even heal you. With that they also seem to have developed powerful ways to damage their foes. They are as magnificent as they are creepy, if you really think about it. 3. Taming : To tame a Sinomegaceros, you must feed mushroom brew regularly to a Sinomegaceros fawn to help it grow spores inside its body. The adults will attack you, you have to pacify them with Pachyrhinosaurus, or immobilizing them (net projectiles, bolas, resine from rhyniognatha, freezing with the owl,...), stun them, or tranq them. When taming is at 50%, adults will start to eat a mushroom to turn into one of the mushroom induced forms. At that point, you have to trap them with bear traps, and continue feeding the fawn with mushroom brew. 4. Abilities : All forms are really good climbers like goats and can jump pretty high. They’re immune to all negative effects of spores, Reaper queen “spores”, and poison. Forms are triggered by eating a mushroom, they are temporary. Regular form: Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt with its horns, hold to charge creatures in front of you. Male: Bellow: Herd boost for Sinomegaceros and reduce other Sinomegaceros cooldown. Negate pack boost from enemies. Female: Increase speed, attack speed. X: Shield Antlers. Lower the antlers to reduce damage. Give resistance to nearby allies and “shield” from some effects like fear. Bioluminescent form (Auric mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to emit a charged lightning bolt from antlers that does additional damages to Reaper, seekers, Nameless, Desmodus, Megalosaurus. Male: Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies and “shield” from some effects like fear. X: Flash of light that blind enemies and reveals invisible creatures, stopping them from turning invisible again. Passive: its horns can emit charged light like glow pets. Can charge batteries in their inventory, but increase hunger. Radioactive form (Element branched mushroom spores): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to trigger an explosive radioactive blast from its antlers Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby. Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies and “shield” from some effects like fear. X: Emit a powerful wave of radiation that inflict a more powerful radiation sickness that does more damage, reduce health regeneration, and increase damage from other sources. Additional damages to TEK creatures and affected creatures can’t use teleportation abilities far a time. Passive: The Sinomegaceros and its rider are completely immune to radiation. Infectious form (Rare Mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to trigger an infectious headbutt. The target is plagued with spores that drain its health to heal the Sinomegaceros. Male: Bellow: Increase attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies and “shield” from some effects like fear. X: Parasitic link. Target a creature to lower its stats and increasing your own, can “steal” positive status effects from the target. Passive: Immune to poisons, and vampiric effects. Use spores to eat nearby corpses to heal itself. Soaked form (Aquatic mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to send steam at your target. Inflict damages and Scalded status. And on impact Emit a mist that lowers visibility, like a sandstorm. Extinguish fire, fire based attacks and explosive, while increasing the effects of electric (conduct electricity in all the mist) and ice (freeze targets more easily) based attacks. Trigger hydration bonus for allies that can have it. X: High pressure water blades that cause bleed to creatures around. Additional damages to armors. Passive: fast swimmer, don’t breath underwater. Emit regularly bubbles underwater that can refill your oxygen. Can run on water if you hold space on the surface. Take less damage from fire. Trigger the hydration status while swimming/on water, or when it rains. Water nearby crops. Chilling form (Freezing spores mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to send sharp icicles that slow the target. X: Emit a cold wave that can freeze creatures. Trigger the increased defense status in cold weather. Passive: Protect from hypothermia and cool in hot weather (even on Scorched Earth) and protect from the wasteland status. Increase defense in cold weather. Can trigger an ice trail to run and run on water, slow enemies on contact. Inventory acts like a refrigerator. Symbiotic form (Ascorbic mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to target an ally and establish a symbiotic link. Allow to share positive status (even status triggered by abilities), boost both the target and the Sinomegaceros, and remove negative status for the duration, distance doesn’t matter for the link to work. Male: Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies. X: Healing pulse like Daedon. If corpses are nearby, consume less food to heal. Passive: Resources spoil less quickly in its inventory. Inventory act has a preserving bin. Negative status effects from nearby allies last for a fewer amount of time. Sporulating form (Aggeravic mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to send waves of torpor inducing spores from the antlers. Male: Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies. X: Turn into a cloud of spores to travel free of constraints, if you target a creature, you can temporarily possess it. Passive: Jump surrounded by spores, hold to float/glide down, doesn’t take any fall damage. You can make fertilizer (with feces and spoiled meat) and refertilizer from its inventory. High-tened form (Hallucinogenic spores): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to trigger an hallucination that forces creatures to attack a target for a short duration. Male: Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies. X: Create a temporary double while concealing itself. The double will roam around if you target the environment or flee if you’re attacked, or attack if you target a creature. Passive: Heighten the senses of the Sinomegaceros to see nearby creatures even through obstacles. 5. Miscellanous : Spawn in the Fertile region. They eat berries in normal form and spoiled meat in mushroom form. Using mushrooms could have effects on the Sinomegaceros, like an addiction/withdrawal, that have different effects depending on if you use the same mushroom or not, for example. Passively gather “spores” while going through mushrooms. You can gather spore clusters from the 5 existing mushroom items or from the three spores hazards in Aberration. You can use several of them to cultivate mushrooms (it's the only way to gather them). Or to craft spore grenades in the Sinomegaceros inventory, that have different effects depending on which kind of spore you’re using. - Like Auric mushroom spore grenade produce a charge light spore cloud that remains for a certain time, lighting the place and doing damage to nocturnal creatures/Reapers and Nameless and blind enemies. -Element branched mushroom spore grenade produce a radioactive cloud of mushroom that remain for a time, doing a few damage, and slowing health regeneration. -Rare mushroom spore grenade produce a toxic cloud of spores that plague enemies, does damage, and lower the damage they make. -Ascorbic mushroom spore grenade heal and remove some negative status effects. -Freezing mushroom spore grenade create a cloud of spores that can freeze. -Aquatic mushroom spore grenade can create a mist of spores that can extinguish fire based attacks, improve lightning and ice attacks and trigger hydration bonus. -The hallucinogenic spore grenade turns wild creatures against each other for a limited time. -The aggevaric spore grenade make you and your tames faster, jump higher, glide when you fall, and remove fall damage. -Each spore type gives a different spore grenade. Each type of spore give a specific mushroom type that you can cultivate. All mushroom give fungal wood, fungal leather (a new resource that can replace hide and fiber), spores of the given mushroom, and different mushroom slime depending on which kind of mushroom you cultivate: -Auric mushroom slime is like angler gel, but can be put on a torch, in campfires and can be dyed to emit a specific color. You can also apply it to tames or players to emit charge light for a time. -Element branched mushroom slime can protect the players and tames from radiation for a time. -Freezing mushroom slime can protect the player and tames from heat and lava for a time. When put into a campfire or on a torch, produce frostfire that can cool down around it. -Aquatic mushroom slime protect from fire and allow to breath water for a time (and give hydration bonus) -Rare mushroom slime can protect players and tames from poison, diseases, “vampiric effects” and spores for a time. -Ascorbic mushroom slime can be used to stop resources from spoiling for a time, and increase health regeneration when applied to the player or a tame and some negative status like bleeding are removed faster. -Aggevaric mushroom slime protects from torpor, can be used as refertilizer, and when applied to a player or tames turn you into spores when “running” allowing you to move free of gravity. -Hallucinogenic mushroom slime protects from fear, mind-control, stun, mammoth roar,... Sinomegaceros, when in a mushroom induced form, can also secrete mushroom slime of the given type by going into the radial menu of the creature, but by doing so, your creature will consume more food. In their regular forms, they looks like deer with unique shield-like antlers, that looks a little like mushrooms. When in a mushroom induced form, their antlers turn into bioluminescent mushrooms each form with its own color and visual effect. Males have mushrooms on their neck and some on their body, while females have glowing patterns on their body. -Bioluminescent form: Golden antlers, with some spores and rays of light effect around the antlers. Golden mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body -Radioactive form: Purple antlers, with some spores and “heat distortion” effect around the antlers. Purple mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Infectious form: Light red antlers, with a lot of spore clouds that seem “heavy” and drip like blood around the antlers. Red mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Soaked form: Blue antlers, with a dripping effect and mist from the antlers. Blue mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Chilling form: White/Really light blue antlers, with some spores and frost effect around the antlers. White/really light blue mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Symbiotic form: Green antlers, with a lot of spore clouds in a halo around the antlers. Green mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Sporulating form: Orange antlers, with spore clouds all around the body. Orange mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Hightened form: Light pink antlers, with some spores and waves of rainbow effect around the antlers. Light pink mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. While “force feeding” a mushroom can change the Sinomegaceros in a mushroom induced form, giving another mushroom of another type change its form, and force feeding a rare flower turns it back into its regular form. Of course the forms being temporary you can also just wait for it to turn back into its regular form. Every form has its own mushroom antlers forms and bioluminescent patterns on their body. The idea for that creature was that I wanted something able to use mushrooms for different effects. Plus I wanted a charge light creature that resembled a “grown up” version of a Shinehorn. So I looked for animals that used mushrooms, I found deers can eat hallucinogenic mushrooms, it was right in the theme. Plus by looking into prehistoric deers I found out of the Sinomegaceros, a not really known creature, that have antlers...That kind of look like mushrooms! That was perfect! Then I remembered Sawsbuck, a Pokemon that I love, and bloom deers, a creature for a game that still hasn't been released: Everwild. Overall, it seems like a PERFECT match for the Aberration. Though there are many,many things for that creature, I wish that there was spores/mushrooms for two additional forms (scorching and shocking). If this creature doesn't make it this time, i plan on changing the artwork and add another type of variant dufferent from mushrooms. If you have any suggestions feel free to leave it ;-).
  2. Giant Charge frog (Electrorana Limoae) The Electrorana Limoae would be the first mount that emits charge. Being able to eat charge bugs to gain charge it can then use its Vocal sac as a large lantern inflating it and filling it with charge to emit light. Abilities: - emits charge - Rideable - It’s saddle can charge batteries as well as be used like a charge lantern. - Can climb walls and zip lines - Can hold creatures smaller than it in its mouth so you can move them up zip lines or cliffs. - Radiation proof - Can use its sticky tongue like a grappling hook to swing like a blood stalker. Taming method: Tame with the help of charge light. You can use charge light to get a wild Electrorana to fill with charge allowing you to ride it. Allowing you to lead it to a charge bug and get it to eat the charge bug. causing it to be tamed after an eating a few charge bugs. Omnivore, eats meat and mushrooms. I think the game of ark needs more than one frog and a giant glowing cave frog would make a fine addition. Imagine how useful the first charge emitting mount could be, for traveling aberrations depths. transporting baby dinosaurs around your base, or stealing baby Dinosaurs from others. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrorana
  3. Common Name: Anomalocaris Species: Anomalocaris Luxarmis Time: Late Cambrian Diet: Carnivore Temperment: Opportunistic Wild: Of the many different creatures I have encountered in my travels, Anomalocaris Luxarmis is one of the strangest I have encountered, looking more like a strange alien from a science fiction movie then an actual animal. These armored predators effortlessly glide through the water with rigid armor plates, and use their tusk like appendages to hunt their favorited prey, Trilobites, and Lamprey. Their many adaptations have allowed these predators to flourish in their environment. Their armor is extremely durable, akin to carbon fibers, and they swim surprisingly quickly. They are also covered in specially modified bioluminescent organs, allowing them not only to provide light in the dark environments they dwell in, but they can also completely disappear from sight, becoming almost completely invisible similarly to the Rock Drakes that also inhabit these caverns. Domesticated: Making use of Anomalocaris Luxarmis' many adaptations, one can drastically improve their survivability on foot in almost any of the environments the arks could throw at you. I have seen some survivors wearing Anomalocaris comfortably upon their backs, similarly to a backpack. When like this, Anomalocaris can provide one with many of its adaptations to augment the wearer. Their diet has made them completely immune to radiation, which when worn can also reflect harmful radioactive particles from the wearer. On top of this, their special producing light organs provide charge light, bolstering other charge creatures in a symbiotic relationship, and when sufficient harm comes to the wearer, provides a incredibly bright flash to allow one the ability to escape from harm. However, the most useful gift the Anomalocaris provides is its armor bolstering shell, allowing one when in its active state to take drastically reduced damage, and bolster ones posture to inhuman like proportions; making one immune to being stunned, slowed, frozen, covered in disgusting sap, as well as allow you to move completely normally when encumbered. It even could refract light in a way to cause one to completely disappear! Greeting Everyone! Allow me to help introduce my Creature Submission; the Anomalocaris Luxarmis: Ideas: Role in both PVE and PVP to protect the wearer from a variety of threats Difficult to tame; Hard to find Gets worn on back similarly to a Sinomacrops Is tamed similarly to a Horse or Andrewsarcus but with Electrocution Can be whistled into differing active states when tamed Introduction: Aberration has always been a very alien like environment, with massive caves, bioluminescent lights and creatures that defy imagination and skew into the realm of fantasy and science fiction. I believe that Anomalocaris helps to fit the bill for this type of design format, as it is one of the oldest predators on the Earth, looks completely unlike anything one could find in real life or even Ark, as well as fill in the spot of a crustacean like animal, which the game only has a few of. In this case, Anomalocaris is more related to that of a shrimp then anything else. Anomalocaris in the design was chosen very early on to be a smaller creature, and while that might be a turn off to some, allow me to explain: Aberration compared to other maps is one that focuses more on smaller tames, and being on the ground, climbing, ziplining, flying with gliders, etc. While there is larger tames, they are usually reserved for later on in the map (Rock Drake, Reaper King) or getting down to the bottom of the map (Sarco, Karkinos, Spino). Anomalocaris in the fashion of Aberration is meant to help drastically improve your survival on foot. Going up the surface will be far safer, as well as delving into the caves and deeper map. Off this map, it still is useful to survivors as it provides invaluable defense when on foot, as well as helping one in a multitude of ways, from the every day like carrying a ton of thing around your base, to protection from raids or wild dinosaurs. Wild: In the wild one will find Anomalocaris swimming around the massive bioluminescent lakes on the Aberration. Occasionally disappearing from sight with its cloaking like abilities, which might make finding it difficult. Anomalocaris itself, is not dangerous at first, and will harmlessly swim by you, which is perfect time to try the taming method. However, if you are already hurt is when Anomalocaris will show its true colors, and attack the survivor. In this case, the Anomalocaris will snatch and hold onto the survivor, similarly to a bear trap but in the water, making you slowly sink unless you click quickly like the Desmodus. If there are other things in the water with you, or you get plain unlucky, and dont escape quick enough, they will slowly drown the survivor in water. Taming Method: The taming method has admittedly changed a couple of times; from originally being feeding it tamed light pets to win its trust, to stunning it with electric prod and feeding it (unforuntately cant be used in the water for this). I decided to have the use of another tame in the game; Electrophorus. Anomalocaris' armor is incredibly tough and tranq arrows or even the spears will not have any effect, thus the way to tame Anomalocaris is to drive it into Electrophorus, causing it to get electrocuted and causing a long stun, to feed it a black pearl. The reason for this is to make use of a less popular tame in the game, as well as it means you may need to go down into the Red Zone to get Black Pearls before you have enough to tame the Anomalocaris. Using tamed Electrophorus will even make this process easier. For safety with the tame, I would say the electrocution would obviously not effect taming efficiency, and perhaps Electrophorus will flee from the sight afterwards. Cnidaria could even work too, though be wary that when the Anomalocaris gets electrocuted you get thrown off to give it pearls. Tamed: As stated above the Anomalocaris has ALOT of special uses for your character. For one, it is a light pet technically, which means it will tell you when max level wildlife is nearby. Most of the abilities that Anomalocaris can do are either passive or active. For active abilities when worn, you will have to whistle to the tame. One whistle will allow you and the Anomalocaris to cloak similarly to the Predator, which can be useful in a PVE and PVP setting, especially for PVP when scouting and sneaking around. Its second whistle, Armor Mode, causes the Anomalocaris' armored fins to form shields around you. In this mode, one takes reduced damage, similarly as if the armor you are wearing is of better quality. Ranged attack would effectively do nothing, and tames will find you incredibly durable to bite and attack. In this armor mode, you cannot be bola'd, slowed, stopped with bear traps, frozen, or the like. Tames could still pick you up, but we will get to this in the passives. One of the other useful abilities of this is it also allows you to carry more, as encumberment doesnt slow you anymore (As a secondary, it could also lower the weight of things in your inventory if that works better). For those wondering what would happen if Anomalocaris is thrown off when on land, I think it would be cute and amusing if it is the slowest tame on land, like trying to follow with its fins, but otherwise just chills there like a cute lil guy. TLDR: Cloak Mode = Cloaks the survivor and Anomalocaris Light = Can be whistled to provide Charge Light like a Charge Pet Armor Mode = Drastically Reduced Damage, Immune to Stun, Slowed, Frozen, and Encumbered effects Both are Activated by Whistles Passives: Anomalocaris also has many different passive effects. For one, light pets other then Anomalocaris regenerate charge when nearby. Wearing Anomalocaris makes one immune to radiation damage, meaning they can wear Armor into the Red Zone onto the map, or future radiation environments on maps. Lastly, Anomalocaris can unleash all of its charge light into one flash, similarly to a flashbang. This effect covers the entire area of the charge light, and will stun tames and other players when caught in it. This effect cannot be whistled or activated, and only occurs when the Anomalocaris is threatened. When the Anomalocaris in the wild is injured to 1/4th its hp, it will flash and flee. When worn, the Anomalocaris will flash when the survivor is brought to 1/4th the hp OR if they are picked up by a mount. When Anomalocaris does this, it loses all its charge light, and has to recharge. TLDR: Radiation Immunity when worn Buffs Light pets to regenerate their Charge faster Defensive flashbang when Anomalocaris in the wild/not being worn is brought to 1/4th hp left Defensive flashbang when Survivor that is wearing Anomalocaris is brought to 1/4th hp, or picked up by a tame/wild dino Utility (PVE): The Aberration, and many other Arks are incredibly dangerous, nothing however more then caves. Many caves are too cramped to allow tames in, or only smaller tames, and there are times where we either lose a prized tame, or you have to gun into a cave alone Anomalocaris provides the user with light, as well as defenses against the many threats in the cave, as they push through in almost juggernaut style through the cave. Even when brought low on hp, the Anomalocaris flashes, saving them and allowing them to pull back and heal. Even when leaving the cave, the survivor is then tackled by a raptor, which thanks to the flash from the Anomalocaris, allows the survivor to quickly spin around and shotgun it in the face. Utility (PVP): A tribe is about to attack another persons base, which happens to be in a cave, cramped and wont allow larger dinosaurs inside to lay siege, the tribe takes out their Anomalocaris' and charges in, blasting the tribe without them, who attempt to fire back, but are effectively firing at near bullet proof warriors in riot gear. One attempts to grab their trusty Karkinos in the cave and grab the intruders, which is then flashed, they fall back to the ground and continue their siege, destroying the rest of the base with minimal casualties, and offers defense for them to collect the loot even if the enemy spawns in to try and catch them off guard. One happens to, but doesn't see the 3rd player, who walked into the cave cloaked, and is quickly dispatched Nerfs/Counters: In a way to balance this creature if it seems like it is too much, there are a couple of methods. The armor mode for one could take food to keep going, similarly to the Daeodon, which means it cannot be used all the time. Electricity can also be used as a method, which could either completely bypass the defenses of the Anomalocaris wielding survivor, or make it fall off onto the ground, which could give time to kill the survivor or the Anomalocaris. Poisonous Gas would also not defend the survivor in this case, and poisonous bombs can be used to completely deter intruders. Conclusion: In Conclusion, I think Anomalocaris would make an excellent addition to the Aberration map. In this form, it provides many different helpful buffs that could keep one alive on this map, which is arguably one of the harder ones in the game, as well on others, and provide them with a helping of active and passive support abilities. While it isn't large enough to ride, I believe Aberration is a perfect map to do this on as it is a very alien creature to begin with, and much of the map requires either being on foot or with a smaller tame. To boot, this is another crustacean like arthropod to add to the game, which I think is just incredibly neat! I thank you for hearing this out, as I put a lot of effort into this art, and making this dossier, and tame.   4. Nyctereutes Donnezani (Raccoon dog) Nyctereutes Donnezani is an extinct relative of the Raccoon Dog. -Nocturnal -Glowing eyes -Foragers _seeds, eggs, -Great swimmers can dive for meals -Usually seen in pairs or small groups -Mews when friendly and growls when frightened -Omnivore -Short-Tempered -Can have rabies -Capable of living with humans Wild: Nyctereutes is among one of the few omnivores found in this area. Nyctos means "night" and ereuna means "seeking." These creatures are nocturnal and are normally seen in pairs or small groups. Can hear them ‘mewing’ to each other at times as a sort of friendly banter. Usually not aggressive but will growl to warn off danger. Can become protective and territorial of other Nyctereutes. Aggressive when in danger. Stubby like stature means this creature has slower mobility, but still has a ferocious bite - careful of getting infected with rabies! Damage is doubled in packs. Have multiple coats, allowing them to survive in a massive array of temperatures. They can be found in swampy, marsh areas or in the freezing cold and here they will have a light-colored coat to camouflage from predators. Can be found burrowed underground, in caves, or foraging in trees. If survivor builds crops near a Nyctereutes, they will aggro and destroy the nearby plots if not properly protected and/or steal crop products (berries, fruit, veggies). Domesticated: Like most creatures, Nyctereutes do not seek out human interaction. However, they are capable of living with humans and even becoming a loyal companion. Are small enough to be a shoulder mount. With glowing eyes and ears, they are a great source of charge light. Despite being small and stocky, Nyctereutes are great divers and foragers - bringing back items for the survivor such as seeds, eggs, fish, crops, etc. Taming Ideas: • With pelt - large amounts, passively dropping (similar to Gacha) or maybe through tranquillizing using pelt in inventory to keep them warm and torpor high (but will become aggressive when tranqed and aggro nearby Nyctereutes, multiplying rabies risk) torpor would drain quickly • With fertilized Beelzebufo eggs, passively May become hostile, but will not do much damage and will not affect taming effectiveness. Will eventually become passive until next “feeding” • Not tame-able with kibble • Only tame-able at night (nocturnal) • Nyctereutes found in snowy regions will be hibernating and have to be lured out by means of nearby veggies planted in an accessible crop plot. Once lured, they will be available to tame. Possible Abilities: - Can pickpocket items - Infecting intruders with Rabies - Inventory capable of crafting simple or basic kibbles or just used for large storage/refrigeration - Enhance survivor's Fortitude - Night-vision - Charge light - Can make jerky with correct ingredients. However, is able to eat meat. These are just my ideas so feel free to give your opinions/ideas ❤️ IRL info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyctereutes_donnezani Used Ark Dossier Editable Template in Photoshop with toggled icons (taming and size reference) All artwork is my own - drawn in Procreate {chaoticxcoop}
  5. Dossier Generic Info: Common Name: Uropygi Species: Mastigoproctus titanteus Time Period: Carboniferous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Territorial Tameable: Yes Rideable: Yes Breedable: Yes Taming Method: Passive Emblized By: Large Bear Trap, Chain Bola Prefered Food: Alpha Tributes A real life Uropygi (aka Whip Scorpion or Vinegaroon). Wild: The Uropygi is a giant relative of modern day whip scorpions. They spawn just about anywhere on Aberration (but are VERY, VERY rare). They have an increased chance to spawn on the surface. They are very powerful with their claws dealing bleed damage and their whip-like flagella being able to stun enemies and pull survivors off their mounts. They’re very territorial and will attack any challenger that steps foot in their domain. These are ambush predators that will burrow into the ground and attack their prey from above, similar to the Basilisk and Reapers. Although unlike true scorpions like Pulmonoscorpius, they are completely non-venomous, but still deadly due to their claws having the ability to cause their targets to take intense bleed damage. The males of this species have much larger claws and longer forearms than the females. Taming: Taming the Uropygi is not an easy task. Their exoskeleton is too hard to be pierced by tranqs so the best way to tame this creature is by immobilizing it with a large bear trap or a chain bola, then feed it tribute items. This creature is incredibly fussy and won’t be willing to trust survivors that easily. They will only trust a survivor when they feed it several tributes from creatures on the map. This includes Nameless Venom, Spino Sails, among others. You get extra taming effectiveness when you use Alpha Tributes like Alpha Basilisk Fangs, Alpha Karkinos Claws, and Alpha Reaper King Barbs. Once Tamed: Uropygi can be mounted with a saddle unlocked at level 97. This saddle has a special cockpit similar to the Magmasaur saddle. This allows the arthropod to bury into the ground, and even move around, with the survivor still being able to breathe and keep sand or dirt out of their eyes. This makes it a great traveling mount as well as a powerful war mount. Additionally, their strong exoskeleton makes it so they are immune to radiation and can go out on the surface of Aberration during the daytime, for their exoskeletons can absorb ultraviolet rays. Survivors can use this to their advantage. If a tamed Uropygi is hit with a Charge Lantern, they will absorb its rays and emit charge light throughout their whole body. This effect makes the arachnid much more powerful, but only lasts for about 10 minutes. It will also weaken any Nameless and Reapers in the area. Uropygi Saddle Concept. A tamed Uropygi buffed after being hit with a charge lantern. Controls: Left Click: Claw Attack (Main Attack) Right Click: Whip Attack C: Burrow/Surface X: Claw Swipe Attack *And yes, I was inspired by the Silurian Scorpion from Primeval. 6. Back with another - HEEEELP! HEELP MEEEEE Anyway funny ammonite Name - Crioceratites Lux Period - Early Cretaceous Diet - Carnivore Temperament - Neutral DOSSIER WILD Hidden within the bioluminescent chambers of the broken Ark, Crioceratities Lux, despite being a recognizable species from prehistoric times, has mutated and evolved to such a bizarre and extreme extent that it seems right at home with the many colossal monsters lining this Ark's deepest depths. Roughly around the size of the giant crabs it shares its habitat with, Crioceratites is uniquely adapted to both life in bioluminescent environments and life within water, but is also surprisingly capable on solid ground, able to filter oxygen and breathe, but not able to survive for long unless properly hydrated. What most immediately notice about Crioceratites is the large, spiral shell it houses its otherwise soft, squishy body in, large enough to house its entire body, tentacles included. The outside is lined with large protruding spikes, which can be used as both defense, and, surprisingly, allow Crioceratites to move when terrestrial, rolling around like a giant spiked wheel, although its speed is rather negligible when compared to the likes of the Roll Rat. This shell, as well as its true body, are lined with a unique bioluminescent chemical that allows them to produce charge, just like the Microluminus family. The ability to control and flash the lights allows them to intimidate would-be predators, and the charge scares away the otherwise fearsome Nameless. DOMESTICATED Taming Crioceratites is no easy task, but should one pull it off, you have yourself a handy mount for entering the depths of the broken Ark thanks to their tough, spiky shell and the ability to produce charge passively. They're rather lacking in pure offense, however, and instead are best used as a disruptive support mount to accompany your large powerhouses. Their tentacles, which are able to flash just as its shell can, are able to outright release powerful charge lasers akin to the charge lantern, stunning aggressors in their tracks or weakening the likes of Nameless and Reapers. When in a pinch, Crioceratites can retract into their shell and roll away, though, due to this unique habit of theirs, the saddle is uniquely placed to ensure lack of dizziness and safety while rolling, so you'll also have to deal with the sticky insides of their shell until you've stopped. MECHANICS Standing at a size rivaling the Karkinos, held aloft by large tentacles, the Crio is a colossal ammonite. Like the crab as well, it's a rather slow walker and sprinter, having poor stamina and struggling with steep terrain, but this is however made up for with its unique ability to curl up into its shell. When doing so, the Crio gains the ability to roll using said shell, allowing for improved movement speed using less stamina, but the Crio will both be unable to attack when curled up, and will struggle with sharp turns, instead having a large turn radius to make up for the increased speed. Though, smaller creatures will get trampled beneath the Crio's spiky shell if they're not careful. Like the Spino and Shadowmane, Crioceratites can gain the hydrated buff, lasting for 30 seconds outside of the water, and boosting their damage, speed, and regeneration. In the wild, they're passive unless approached, in which case they'll assault their aggressor with lashing tentacles and attempting to stun them with their use of charge. TAMING The taming method is simple, but complicated. One simply has to exhaust them of their charge, and in doing so, this will cause the Crio to curl up into its shell. When curled up, one must either shoot it with a charge lantern or throw Plant Species Z fruits at it, gaining its trust and taming it with the promise of constant charge. When tamed, they can use their natural supply of charge to light your way through the depths, as well as having a natural immunity to radiation. They're best used as a long-term adventuring mount, taken out for long treks in dangerous areas due to their high defensive capabilities and solid speed when curled up. When tamed and standing, if not in use for more than 5 minutes, they will retract into their shell as to preserve their moisture. When the ride prompt appears, they must exit their shell before the player can ride. However, it is best not to rely on the Crioceratites in a fight to the death, as while their damage is not negligible, compared to the many other beasts of Aberration, they lack the powerful offense to truly be considered a powerhouse, and instead are best used to repel attackers rather than kill or pursue. CONTROLS When riding a Crio, the rider sits atop their head rather than the shell, being taken inside said shell when tucked in to roll. Its walk speed is quite slow, comparable to the Karkinos, and its sprint speed is only somewhat decent, comparable to a tamed Rex. When rolling, it gains a significant speed boost at the cost of poor turning, comparable to a tamed Raptor, though it gains a speed boost on land when Hydrated. Its swimming speed is comparable to a tamed Basilosaurus. Like various creatures, the Crio will turn to face the direction of the player's camera, rather than remaining in one direction when the player looks to their side. Though, unlike other creatures, they can walk and sprint omnidirectionally, and this can be decently useful for warding off aggressors. This ability, however, is lost when swimming, instead having to turn when both moving and attacking like the Tusoteuthis. Left Click / Primary Attack A simple tentacle lash, using either of the two large tentacles not supporting itself. While not doing much damage, they possess solid knockback, and can be used to ward off attackers and allow for allies to follow-up. When facing forward or down, it will do a strong slam with both tentacles, which has stronger knockback than either left or right tentacle on their own. This can also be used while moving, in both a walk and a sprint. When in the water, the attack switches, causing the Crio to turn to face the target. The tentacle lash remains the same, having negligible damage, but gaining the ability to be used in succession while moving backwards. Right Click / Secondary Attack Using charge, right click will release a charge light from each of its tentacles, not unlike the charge lantern. When an enemy or wild creature enters the lights' vicinity, light will shoot out like a charge lantern, stunning the creature in its tracks for a couple of seconds, allowing the player to either attack, retreat, or recover. This cannot be used underwater. Instead, it is replaced with a large flash of light, which briefly stuns the target and gives the Crio a boost in speed, like the Tusoteuthis's ink spray. C / Tertiary Attack This will activate the Crio's charge passively, giving the same effects as a Lamprey or light pet without the use of either, and allowing the rider to venture into the Blue and Red Zones and ward off Nameless, as well as weakening Reapers. Space / Jump Using the jump input, the Crio will tuck itself, and its rider, into its shell. While inside of the shell, the rider becomes immune to damage, and the Crio gains both a 50% damage reduction, and a damage-reflect, causing any attack to partially harm the attacker, though neither of these apply to ranged attacks. Guns will pierce the Crio's shell without much effort, and elemental attack like a wyvern's breath are still just as effective. Though, when tucked into its shell, it also gains the ability to roll, gaining a significant boost in speed and the ability to trample small creatures and players, at the cost of poor turning. This does give the ability to gain momentum when rolling down an angle or slope, but will also cause the Crio to slow down when rolling up a slope. The Crio can also tuck into its shell underwater, though this makes it completely unable to move, running the risk of serious danger unless the aggressor is deterred from the shell's durability and spikes. UTILITY PVE In PVE, the Crio functions as a unique, all-terrain exploration mount with unique capabilities for solo players, as well as a premier support mount for tribes, working perfectly with a larger carnivore that is able to act as a proper combatant and target for wild creatures. Its ability to tuck into its shell and roll away is useful in just about any situation, though one should be mindful of its somewhat lackluster speed. Like the light pets, its ability to produce charge is invaluable in the deeper zones of Aberration, as is its immunity to radiation, though it does struggle with Seekers. PVP Most of its uses in PVE translate to PVP, acting as a valuable support mount from a distance, and being able to tank a serious amount of damage and run from fights it may end up struggling with. Its charge also makes it a more accessible and conventional option to deal with tamed Reaper Kings. WEAKNESSES While a worthwhile tame in many regards, the Crio is not without its fair share of downfalls. As mentioned, its ability to output damage is overall poor, the tentacle lash being good for knockback, but not doing much raw damage. Beyond its rolling, it's rather slow, easily outpaced by things both larger and smaller than it, and even when rolling, it's still unable to outrun the speedier creatures of the Arks, especially in regards to sharp turns. Even its attacking is comparatively rather slow, taking more time to execute a single slam than a Karkino's claw slam and for less damage. Like the Spino and Shadowmane, taking the Crio anywhere without water always puts them at a disadvantage due to its inability to acquire the Hydrated buff, and this is especially detrimental for the Crio due to its poor attack capabilities. Unless going for long voyages in hostile, but open areas, it's recommended to never bring a Crio anywhere on their own, and always have some kind of a stronger creature as a bodyguard, while they can attack as a support and a disruptor for the enemy. Lastly, unless tucked in, the Crio's tentacles and head lack any damage resistance, and the player is completely vulnerable when outside of the shell, and comparatively rather easy to see than some other saddles, making the rider an easy target for other players with ranged weapons.
