  1. Giga Breeding Hello, so tomorrow, I will be buying a giga egg from this one person. I was wondering, if I could incubate it with campfires and standing torches, I’ve heard this works for a wyveren, and they need much higher heat. Any other advice is appreciated

With the advent of tames like the snow owl and mana which can be given high end saddles and bred, we need to buff the older non-saddled dinos to have other counter options and so the meta doesn't stagnate Making wyverns breedable or a saddle option similar to equus (ride with or without) would mean more effective and varied counters to manas maneuvering Griffins similarly would be pull out of just being a quick flight tame and become properly effective again

    Breeding 101

    First a disclamer - No one except the devs (and i highly suspect even most of them don't really know any more) knows definitely 100% how it works. Some of the numbers/formulas are just by observation. The stats on a dino are determined by a base value in each stat and level-up points which add a certain amount of values. Dino-Levels are the sum of those level-ups plus one. Lets look at a Rex for example. A level 1 Rex has the following stats: Health 1100.1 Stamina 420 Oxygen 150 Food 3000 Weight 500 Damage 122.1 Speed 90 Torpidity 1550.5 Now a level 2 Rex has one point in eighter one of those values. Each point in Health adds 220 so one point in Health would be 1320.1, two points 1540.1 and so on. Stamina: 42 per point Oxygen: 15 per point Food: 300 per point Weight: 10 per point Damage: 5.7 per point Speed: 0 per point (on speed its 0 on all species - this is no error - wild points don't increase speed on any dino) Torpidity: 93 points per level-point on any of the other stats This way you can "extract" the points in any given stat (or use a tool like "ARK Smart Breeding" to do that for you). The values are different on the many species so best to use a tool so you don't have to know them. The distribution of the wild-points among the 7 stats is purely random and can be eighter average or in favor of one or two stats. Those with uneven distributions are the ones you want for breeding. Because a average dino level 150 after taming around 220 will have about 30-35 points in each stat. But if you are lucky you can find 45+ and even above 50 in the wild (I only recently tamed a ptera with 51 in damage and i have a rex with unmutated 54 in food). Those are the ones you want since you can breed them with other dinos which are specialized in another stat to combine them into your super-dino. And do not only go for 150s when taming. The 51 damage ptera for example was a 145 only. You can get lucky on lower ones also. By pure luck you could even find a wild 150 with 149 points in one stat but the chances are higher for you to win the lottery 20 times in a row rather than that happening to you The only point to mention is that speed is always the same on any level no matter how many points went into it. But the points still get applied (except for flyers). Those are hidden points which can only be extracted by knowing the points on all other stats and the difference to the actual dino-level are the speed levels. You can say they are lost points. But keep in mind they still increase the dino-level and therefore the torpor-level which means they increase the resistance of your dino to stuns etc. which can make a difference in close combat situations. Also you'll need them to show off on your server to have the "highest level rex" Also for the offspring only the points a dino had in the wild + the extra levels he got from taming-efficiency count for the offspring. Any level-up you did after taming has no effect on the babies. This also means you don't have to level up your parents before you breed them further. If you really want to breed a "super-dino" its important to know how these level-points are inherited to the offspring. On each stat the game chooses between the father and mother value with a higher chance to get the higher one of the two (55% for the higher and 45% for the lower one). In addition there is a 3x 2,5% chance to mutate one stat which increases its point-value by 2. This can happen only as long as at least one parent has less than 20 mutations. Thats the value you see if you go to ancestry on a dino on top. It's listed for father and mother sepparatley. For the offspring of a dino the sum of both gets inherited over. For the following example I'll only look at health: You breed these 2 Rexes: Father: 40 Points in HP (9900.1) Mother: 30 Points in HP (7700.1) Possible Childs: 1: 40 Points in HP - Points from the father carried over (55% chance) 2: 30 Points in HP - Points from the mother went over (45% chance) 3: 42 Points in HP - Points from the father went over + random mutation in HP (2,5% chance of mutation + the 55% chance of getting the stats from the father) 4: 32 Points in HP - Points from the mother + random mutation (2,5% chance + 45% chance for the mother side) 5: 44 Points in HP - Points from the father + 2 random mutations - 0,034375% chance (55% + 2 times 2,5%) 6: 34 Points in HP - Points from the mother + 2 random mutations - 0,028125% chance 7: 46 Points in HP - Points from the father + 3 random mutations - 0,000859375% chance 8: 36 Points in HP - Points from the mother + 3 random mutations - 0,000703125% chance Options 3 to 8 are only possible if at least one of the parents has a mutation counter of less than 20 in their ancestry. The percentages stated on 5-8 are if both parents are below 20 if only one of them is below 20 you have a lot less chance for it to happen. 7 and 8 are such a rare case that for most people its a once in a lifetime thing - by probabilities one out of roughly 1500 babies gets this mutation. Also the Mutation-Counter does not mean actual mutations. If you have a male with 1 mutation point with a female with 1 mutation point the child will have 2 mutation points even if none of the stats that were mutated went over to the child because the one from the other parent was chosen. With this kept in mind if you want to get the maximum out of your breeding line I advise to first get a "clean" pair of base dino whom have all your highest stats of your breeding-dinos in but a mutation-counter of 0 => one male and at least one female. Then you start breeding those 2 together in hopes of getting more females (for faster breeding) and mutations in certain stats. After you have a mutation in lets say HP you breed the mutated dino with your unmutated base-dino so your mutation counter does not increase. This gives you a 55:45-chance to get an offspring with the mutation. The ones without the mutation you should let go since its a wasted mutation point. If you tame a new dino with one stat higher than you have in your base-pair already breed it with the base-pair - not the mutated ones - to get a new base-pair without mutations. Now lets get to color-mutations. Colors are chosen the same way as stats on the offspring with the slight change that its always 50:50 on each color-region to get the color of the father or mother. In addition every time you get a mutation (2.5% chance) you can get a different color in one region which might not even occur naturally on those dinos (cyan, yellow, red, blue etc.). You do get a color-mutation with every stat mutation but it can happen that it mutates to the same color as the parent had or that its in a region where it looks the same so you might not really see it or it can go to a color-region that is not used on the dino (like region 2 and 3 on a rex). Lastly imprinting: Imprinting improves all stats except stamina and oxygen but it has no effect on the offspring of those dinos. So only imprint on the final line you will actually use in boss-fights, harvesting or whatever you do with your dinos. No need to imprint on the breeding-dinos themselves. Breeding-Example with live data from my current server: I'm aiming to increase DMG as much as i can on those Tek Rexes without increasing any of the other stats to get the most out of the first 20 mutations (higher chance for new mutations as long as both parents are below 20). 82 is a clean male and 83-105 are clean females all level 334 - meaning none of them have any mutations on them. 115 already has 6 mutations in DMG and is level 346. Now to continue i start to make lots of eggs between 115 and the females. This can result in the following offspring: male/female level 334 - mutated dmg stat was not chosen => KILL (wasted mutation counter) male/female level 346 - mutated dmg stat was chosen but no new mutation => KILL (wasted mutation counter) male/female level 336/338/340 - mutated dmg stat was not chosen and 1-3 new mutations happened => KILL (wasted mutation counter) male/female level 348 - dmg value 63 - new mutation but not in DMG => KILL (wasted mutation counter) male/female level 350 - dmg value 63 or 65 - 2 new mutations but not both in DMG => KILL (wasted mutation counter) male/female level 352 - dmg value 63 or 65 or 67 - 3 new mutations but not all in DMG => KILL (wasted mutation counter) male/female level 348 - dmg value 65 - new mutation in DMG => KEEP male/female level 350 - dmg value 67 - 2 new mutations in DMG => KEEP male/female level 352 - dmg value 69 - 3 new mutations in DMG => KEEP If the dino in options 7-9 is a male it replaces 115 and instantly gets to mate with 83-105 again to get the next mutation. Should it happen to be a female it gets bred with 82 (the clean male) until i get a male copy of it with the dmg value in to continue the lineage. This way i ensure that only mutations in DMG go ahead and the 20 mutation points are reached only when i actually have 20 mutations in DMG to make everything go "faster".

  7. What to breed? Hello, I have recently found a decent PvE server. After seeing everyone else’s dinos, I have decided I want to start breeding. I was wondering what a good Dino to breed was. I have been playing this game for a couple of weeks, and have raised an argy. Granted, I did not incubate the egg. Does anyone have any suggestion for good dinos to breed? Thanks in advance!
  8. Boss help Hi. Im a pretty new player playing single player on the Island. Ive been through a few caves and have the necessary items for a first boss fight. I read guides that say I will need extremely high level rexes and yuty to beat Broodmother but as Ive tried not to alter the default settings, my 5 legitimately bred rexes are all coming to adulthood shy of lvl 20 with less than 2k hp. Obviously nowhere near the basic requirement. Do I need to increase the difficulty to get higher level spawns only, or are there other settings I will need to make it possible to beat Broodmother on lowest difficulty? If I beat all the bosses on lowest difficulty will I still get full credit for winning? Doesnt raising spawn level make dinos much harder to knockout?
  9. Random level gain Ok so, I've been playing this game for a few years now and i'd like to say I'm a veteran at it. But something happened that I don't really understand and I was hoping someone else could give me an answer. I was breeding allosaurus' and hatching about 20 eggs at a time. All the parents from the eggs shared the same level and the same exact stats (I was breeding for mutations at the time) and every now and then I would get an allo that had 9 extra levels or 9 fewer, but there was no noticable stat change and no mutations. Does anybody know what happened?
  10. Hi Guys I've done a lot of reading on breeding and watching youtube and have bred my fair share of dinos, so why not try to make a guide from what I've learned and applied... (note some of the information may be incorrect so any rectifications are welcome as Wardrum loves to let us figure stuff out for ourselves) Whats Max Wild levels your find on official serves? Easy - Level 30 Medium - Level 150 Hard - Level 300 Exceptions are inside Ice & Swomp Caves where higher level dinos spawn So how does stats work on wild dinos? Simple it's all random... random... random... all dinos have fixed Level 1 Stats, so when a wild dino spawns it is randomly given a level... lets say level 15, Ark will randomly apply 15 level ups to be added randomly any of the dinos level 1 stats either Health, Stamina, Oxygen, Food, Weight, Melee Damage & Speed (Note: Speed, when wild dino gets tamed, will revert to 100% and any random level ups will be lost levels)... So knowing this and you want to become a breeder know that STATS is Everything! and your Wild Breeders (Generation 0) dinos are key. So, knowing that stats are randomly allocated you want to trank & tame dinos as close to the Server Max Level you can find to gain the spawn level ups (The Golden Taming Rule is "IF ITS LOW ITS NO") and when wild dino tamed you also gain more random taming level-ups depending on the efficiency you tame it at. e.g: I find a level 30 Argie, Perfect Trank it then Perfect Tame it Argie will wake up tamed and Level 44 with all 44 level-up randomly allocated. Now you can check its stats and really see how good it is and how many stats lost to Speed, Food & Oxygen. What is perfectly Trank & Tame? Perfect Trank is when tranked dino takes No further damage after it becomes unconscious, either from you firing another trank dart or arrow, you accidentally punching it or a wild dino taking a bite. Every time an unconscious dino take damage its taming efficiency will decrease thus you will start losing taming level. Perfect Taming is when you tame perfect tranked dino with best possible efficiency losing no taming levels, this is only achievable by using the correct kibble/super kibble and usually soothing balm to speed up tame time (e.g. Argies prefer Stego Kibble). So if you feed a Tranked Argie one of its lesser preferred food its taming efficiency will be affected and it will tame to a lower level. Ark has made the game that if a tamed wild has lost levels due to taming efficiency its babies will regain those levels (randomly) and only for Generation 1 Avoid losing taming efficiency as it will just add another few rounds of breeding that can cost your days, weeks or even months Breeding Base Stats & Generation 1 Breeding Base Stats is the Stats a Wild Dino (Generation 0) has after Perfect Taming (before any leveling up by you or a Baby Dino has at birth (before imprinting by you ) this is the raw stats your breeding to improve and is the only stats important when breeding. So you now have your Generation 0 (Wild Tame) Male and Female (Both Lvl 44) and each have their own random stats, so now its time to breed them to get the all best stats from both parents onto one baby e.g Male HP 600 and Female HP 720 baby has a 55% chance to be born with a higher stat from Female (same goes for everything except speed which will always be 100% at birth) So, oh let's say, after 4 attempts of breeding your generation 0 male and female a baby female is born with the best stats from both parents and it is born level 52 (not level 44 like parents)... this is because levels of dino are determined by Level 1 Base Stats plus the random level-ups... you have now just combined the highest random level-ups from both parents into 1 baby so its level will be higher than parent and this is your First Generation 1 key breeder and the backbone of your breeding program. Next step is to get a perfect pair Generation 1 breeder so you now use the born female (daughter) and breed it with your generation 0 male (father)... they will have some stats exactly the same but you're now looking to breed a male with exact same stats as Generation 1 Female (daughter), why so you can start breeding for those crucial mutations you will need to breed your super dino. Good breeders kill babies, sad but true, don't keep babies you don't want to use, sell or kill them off you have limited dino slots and breeding can use up a lot fast Mutations Let's talk mutations now before we get to Generation 2 Breeding as it is possible that a mutation can occur while you breeding your Generation 0 Wild tames or your Generation 1 and Generation 0 parent to create your same stat perfect pair. Every egg hatched from Generation 0 wild tames has a very slim chance for a baby to have a mutation and can be hard to spot, every mutation has 2 parts a color mutation and stat mutation, but one of these mutations can be dormant in the baby and only pop in a future generation. So, a baby born with a color that parent doesn't have, but stats the same or one stat higher than either parent but the color of baby same as parents become a tricky thing to spot before you have your perfect breeding pair and this is where those Breeding Base Stats you are keeping a record of comes into play, compare both parents stats with babies stats and compare the baby color with parents color. Generation 2 (Perfect pair breeding) Ok so you have now bred your Generation 0 (father) with your Generation1 (Daughter) and a baby is born with exact same stats and level as Generation 1 (Female) now you have a perfect breeding pair, why because their babies will be born with exact same stats and level as the Generation 1 (Daughter) and Generation 1 (Son), because they are identical. Thus breeding them will give you either more identical stat female to breed with the male to increase your chances of mutation, now you keep breeding them and wait for a mutation to occur. You will immediately see that baby has mutation as it will be born 1 or 2 levels higher than parents (1 level for stat mutation & 1 level for color mutation, if neither stat dormant), now you compare baby stats with parents and if the mutation is a stat or color you want to keep it to become a generation 3 breeder but still continue breeding the generation 2 perfect pair for more or different stat or color mutation. Generation 3 (Specific Stat/Color breeding) Ok so lets say baby born from Generation 2 parents has a cool colour mutation and the weight mutation your were looking for now its time to start breeding it to get another mutation, so breed Generation 3 with mutation and one from Generation 2 (zero mutation) untill you get another mutation and from this point you ALWAYS use a Generation 2 opposite gender zero mutation to breed with the mutated one. Why here Ark mobile breeding become vague because on other other formats (PC, Xbox, etc.) breeding history and mutation stats are available and a 20/20 mutation rule apllies, which in all likelyhood applies to mobile also. It is that if both parent have 20 out of 20 mutations (which were unable to see on mobile) no further mutations possible. so be using a Generation 2 zero mutation as one parent the other can go to well over 20/20 mutations (174/20 possable) and becase one parent mutation free mutations will continue occur. Generation 3 breeding is where you split breeding do a breeding line HP another Weight etc. and once you want to combine them you Breed those mutated ones with each other and you will have your Generation 4 super good or super dino. Backbreeding Backbreeding is used when you want to remove wasted stats from your breeding line and only is used when breeding lines get close to the max dino level (Bred Dino Level 379 + 71 Level ups = Lvl 450 and dino will despawn). So to clear unwanted or wasted stats breed you high level super dino with a level 1 wild tame untill a baby is born with the specific stats you want to keep as a lvl 1 wild tame has no waisted stats... Very few breeders ever take breeding to that level and those that do know a lot more about the subject than me. General Does and Dont's Keep records of Breeders Stats. Dont kill off Generation 0, 1 & 2 Breeders they can be used to breed different mutation Line or fix a line if you pass 20/20 mutation. Hatch in bulk. Alway be on the lookout for new blood either from wild tames or another tribe on server. dont level or imprint your breeders (false basic stats will just make your own life difficuilt Finally I truley hope this answeres a few quetions out there and give some of you a better understanding about breeding and if your wondering the process to breeding a crazy good or even super dino take a lot longer than days or weeks it will take months and even years on official servers that dont have breeding multipliers.

Ok i had two clean 275 pters same stats which i bread and got a 277 male mutated melee, i replaced the 277 male with the 275 clean male and continued to breed with the clean females, i have 24 clean 275 females, im expecting 279 baby is that correct because if so im not getting them im only getting 277 or 275 babies.
  12. Breeding Stats together Hello... Iam Breeding my Theriz in 2 lines.. one with Melee and one with Hp.. now i have 25 melee mutations and 19 Hp mutations... when i try to breed these 2 togehter i only get a theriz with the clean stats lvl 265.. does anyone know how this works?

I host a Nitrado server and am wondering if there is a way to enable or add in the "export dino" data option in my server, we would all really like it for ARK Smart Breeding. I cant find any threads for how to put it in your .ini or anything. I just feel there has to be a way! Really hoping I'm just missing a simple option, but I am afraid it's not that easy
  14. Anybody figure out a pattern to ferox stats when you enrage or are they random? I've submitted a bug wondering when we'll get a fix for this but having them re-roll stats when enraging is irritating. Is the re-roll intended perhaps? Anybody know a fix or a rhyme or reason behind the stat changes? They've fixed them to remain static when they go small again (thank god) but going large.. I'll see a 1400% melee damage go to 300% after enraging.
  15. Hand feeding babies to 10% Standing around or running up and down baby dinosaur untill 10% when can auto eat from trough. It's a waste of time and effort and should be made optional It stops you enjoying do much more the game offers
  16. Questions About Imprint During 4X Event I'm new to breeding and had a question about imprinting on official. I've hatched and imprinted a number of tames since the Easter event started but one question I had was about imprinting. Is the imprint on a set 8 hour timer that doesnt adjust for the 4x event? I've noticed many smaller tames grow to full size because of the 4x buff before the imprint timer actually is ready so I am not able to do any imprinting on these. Is this working as intended or is there something I need to do to decrease the imprint timer with the 4x breeding buff?
  17. Speed stat on hatched dinos is too high! Currently running on a private server and hatched a bunch of Tek Rexes. My problem is that their speed stat after being hatched is WAY too high! Both parents have a tamed speed stat of 100%. However, all the babies matured to 300% speed. I used a Nanny so I didn't have to babysit them, so they're 100% imprinted. I want them to hatch at no more than 150%. I believe I need to turn down the server setting BabyImprintingStatScaleMultiplier. Is this the right one? Is there a better one I should use so my babies still get boosted stats, but the speed comes out at 100-150%?
  18. Individual Breeding timers? So I have been looking through the internet for quit a while and haven't been able to find anything only on normal breeding stuff. I would like some help with this because the server I own gigs only get 6% per imprint and if I make that have more it messes up all of the other dinos imprinting. Please let me know if you have a fix!
  19. Breeding Mutation Help Please So lets say I have two dinos one male, one female and they have the EXACT same stats and levels (grown together from baby from same parents). If I were to breed them, we will say infinite times, is there any chance that their babies can ever mutate into higher stats than what the parents currently have? Also, another scenario, if I were to take these same two parents again, same stats same levels, and level one up and increase the melee for example. Is there any chance that the babies will get any the higher melee damage, or will it always default to what the parents were naturally born with? Thank you!

  21. Breeding Tek-Rexes for Gamma Boss fight with Mek Hello, our mini tribe has started breeding rexes to prepare for the Gamma boss-fight in Genesis. But we're kind of wondering what stats we should be putting on our Tek Rexes? Right now we're looking at the following options, based on various video's and discussions: 30k health, the rest in melee 40k health, the rest in melee We will be using a Mek in the fight with the shield strategy, so we'd like to adjust our Tek Rexes to that approach. A Squeakysaurus will also be part of the setup. Tips, advice anyone? Stats Input Received 25k Health / 700% Melee , 80-ish Armor Saddles : 11 Rexes lost Deduced Information < 25k health is not sufficient < 500% melee damage is not sufficient
  22. Procoptodon baby food aura Instead of put one baby in a mate boosted procoptodon pouch to reduce the food comsumtion, add an area around it with the same affect. The comsumtion reduction should depend from all of the procoptodon stats. Higher the level, better the aura.
  23. Breeding question Currently in the process of getting a Mana line going. The best baby right now has 2 stam mutations and 1 melee mutation, but the patrilineal tree shows 5 mutations. Now i know that I had two food mutations somewhere down the line but those mutations did not carry over to this dino, however the number of mutations still counted. What can I do about this? I'm hoping to get a good amount of mutations and I can't have food taking up two of the slots when the food stat isnt even being modified. The baby is a female. Do i breed her with a wild male to reset the mutation counter or what? Can I even do anything? I mean it's not a massive deal for me but I would just like to get the best out of my mutation line that i can.

  25. Mutation Stacking Question I’m breeding dinos for mutations using the mutation stacking method. When I breed dinos should I only focus on one chain of stat mutations at a time or can I just keep mutations I receive on several stats without any negative consequence. Ex. I want to keep health, melee, and stam mutations whenever I get them instead of only keeping health mutations until i get to 50 muts and then do melee mutations until I get to 50 muts
