Dossier/Concept Art: (Dossier art coming soon!!) Dossier: Wild: Out of all the ceratopsians I’ve seen on the Arks, none stand out as much as Centrosaurus Laminairae. Not only is this the largest ceratopsian I’ve so far on these Arks rivaling Rexes and Acros in size, but it is one of the deadliest animals I’ve seen across the Arks. I’ve observed these muscular herbivores fight against large predators and come out in triumph with the blood of their opponent on them. I’ve even observed Centrosaurus fight against a Giganotosaurus trying to attack it and . Yet they seem to be peaceful unless provoked, grazing within the herds of other ceratopsians that they dwarf in size. Domestication: While I have never tamed Centrosaurus Laminairae myself, I’ve heard from many of the tribes that it is a simple yet painful process. Whereby you injure the creature until it is enraged with anger. Then sacrificing your strongest and most mighty creatures to it. But once tamed, Centrosaurus is a war and battle mount useable for any tribe. Its deadly nasal horn can pierce the strongest of hides of beasts. Many tribes have Centrosaurus in herds of ceratopsians or even herbivores as it seems to pump their morale and encourage them to fight fiercely and fearlessly. Making them good for arena battles or war defense and offense. Some more wealthy and plentiful tribes have even made specialized armors and bladed horn pieces for their Centrosaurus to defend against deadlier foes and deal with more powerful attacks on saddle armors. Still, Centrosaurus Laminairae is something any warring or advancing tribe would not want to miss out on having in their armies. Basics on saddle, encounters and uses: Has a regular saddle (early 60s to unlock and craftable in smithy) an armored saddle with 2x defense and 2x bleed increase with its bladed horns (crafted at mid 70s for leveling in fabricator,) samurai style armor. This is a legitimate battle ceratopsian and the largest of the three in Ark rivaling the sizes of the Rex and Acro. This can fight bosses and go inside the arenas and even the Overseer cave and arena. Centrosaurus is strictly herbivorous. But when it’s in bloodlust though it would be like a carnivore, having an aggro range and attacking anything in that range. When encountering this beast, be sure to either be riding a herbivore or a ceratopsian to blend in. This ceratopsian will most likely be in herds of smaller ceratopsians, acting as a guardian for the smaller cousins of this gigantic beast. If you aggravate one of its cousins. This beast will aggravate onto you like it was one of them. Running is suggested if you do aggravate it. While this animal is mainly a PvP’s best friend. This herbivore also can be used for a harvester of berries, thatch, and stone. While it also collects wood and flint, it is not the greatest at collecting them. But able to collect heaps of berries, thatch and stone. Being one of the best for these in utility. Abilities: A basic attack: does medium damage (can be used with the regular and Samurai saddles), An Impale attack: causing heavy bleed damage with a ten second cooldown, It’s bloodlust call: A call that gains 100% damage increase to enemy creatures and players (not structures) and a 30% damage reduction for 2 minutes with a 5 minute cooldown to the call. A Buck Kick or directional Stomp: a powerful kick or Stomp that does devastating damage with a longer than average cooldown. Cannot be affected by the Bloodlust effect. Passive Abilities: The rival ability (same as Triceratops but it only works for Gigas and Carchas), It’s herbivore strengthen buff: where they get 30% damage reduction and 10% damage increase. (does not work on other Centrosaurus, does not stack with Courage Roars), It’s ceratopsian buff: Where other species of ceratopsians gains 15% damage increase and 35% damage reduction near it. (doesn’t work on other Centrosaurus, does not stack with Courage Roars) Appearance: Centrosaurus would be indeed the largest Ceratopsian in Ark, being one of largest non sauropod herbivores on this Ark. With a long, deadly horn on the snout, it can impale the thickest of hides or armors. Females have a more delicate and dull appearance, camouflaging into the forests of Valguero, where they raise their young. Taming Method: Get it into bloodlust while it’s wild and have it kill your adult tames, the higher quality the tame and level(Apexes, Gigas and Carchas, even Brontos. Carnivores will give a better taming effectiveness.), the larger the carnivore with bigger hp pools, better the taming progress is and the better the taming effectiveness is. You’d have to damage it to 10% HP to start the process. Be sure to kill off all ceratopsians near it as they will aggro onto you. Giant Porcupine - The Quill Shooting Giant!
Saurotter posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
AMAZING ARTWORK DONE BY JAKE BAKER!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS AWESOME WORK! General Information: Common Name: Giant Porcupine Species: Hystrix Refossa Maximus Time: Pleistocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Defensive Wild: From a distance, these hulking beasts are but gentle giants. If challenged, the Giant Porcupine will defend its spouse and offspring with fierce ferocity. The Giant Porcupine move rather sluggish through the forest as it forages on bark and sap from redwood trees. But, make no mistake, they have the ability to strafe and swivel to keep deadly quills facing incoming danger. These quills will dislodge upon contact and cause a Hemorrhage effect. These quills will cause a certain slow painful death if not manually removed. Domestication: While I have never done it myself, I have heard legends of the most daring tribes learning to harness the power of this giant rodent to have it as base defense, or offensive raids. Even the most advanced tribes have not been able to tame a Giant Porcupine through conventional means. The trick is to distract or eliminate the parents while the baby is hand fed sap. ndividuals, several uses can be taken place with the use and execution of this creature. Being a rodent, Hystrix is almost as proficient at harvesting wood as its beaver cousins, as well as surprisingly harvesting crystals and gems at very surprising rates, but most importantly, sap. Perhaps its buck teeth and strong jaws chip the crystal away easier than other creatures. On the offensive side, a bite from the Hystrix is extremely painful. Its buck teeth cause major gnashing damage, rivaling even Therizinosaurs in its damage. Along with its foul bite, its quills are a whole other monster. The beast can swivel and pivot its shield of spines to protect babies and taming creatures, as well as fling the quills at a far distance to hit targets from afar. EXTRA INFORMATION OF THE HYSTRIX REFOSSA MAXIMUS How to Tame: One must nab a baby from the wild, but the parents are very protective of their brood. Getting to close will anger the parents, once parents are dead, or distracted, the baby can be fed Sap. Once fed this sap, the baby releases a pheromone that attracts any near by predators. The baby must be defended from the predators until it is full. Once the baby is properly tamed, it gains your trust, and will be able to be raise to adulthood. SADDLE INFORMATION (General Information and Primitive Recipe Requirements) Being such a large sized creature, the Hystrix Refossa can seat 3 riders comfortably. This is obtainable by the main saddle rider, positioned near the top of the porcupines back. This rider is the controller of the creature. The other two seats are positioned on the sides of the creature, one on the left, and one on the right. These side riders are in a prone position, lying flat on a sheet of hide and metal, being protected from the quills. Since these riders being prone, that have 100 percent access to use equipment such as firearms, crossbows, net guns, and any shoulder-positioned equipment, or pistols and flare guns. Recipe: 400 Metal Ingots 350 Hide 75 Fiber 150 Chitin/Keratin 200 Cementing Paste 150 Crystal 75 Silica Pearls HYSTRIX REFOSSA MAXIMUS ABILITY INFORMATION: Bite (Left Click): Using its large incisors, Hystrix can bite with extreme force. While this attack isn’t the fastest attack that creatures possess, it can cause gnash damage and is the highest damage-per-attack of any herbivore base melee in the game. Quill Projectile (Right Click, with directional aiming from visual positioning): Hystrix beats folklore and can fling its quills at opponents. Survivors have learned its ultimate use, and that is to carefully apply certain viscous materials to these quills, then fire the projectiles. These are the materials, and its effects: - Narcotics: Narcotics can be smeared on the quills of the beast, helping in taming of large creatures with large health pools, or to knock out enemy tames and players in a combat situation - Bio Toxin: Smearing this on the quills allows the porcupine to sling static laced quills, causing temporary stun effects to the recipients - Leech Blood: Leech Blood on the quills will give each recipient horrible sicknesses, at a rate fast than regular leeches, due to the quills entering the recipients body faster than the leech could, injecting it into the bloodstream at very fast rates. - Poop- Smearing this bodily substance from the quills not only due damage, but cause heavy decrease of all status effects, such as food, water, stamina, oxygen, and movement speed - Clay- Clay can be smeared on the quills, giving heavy blindness to those who are hit by it. Though with clay being a heavier substance, it makes the quills travel slower than any other substance. Intimidation Factor (C): Hystrix can contort its muscles to intimidate wild and tamed creatures in a confrontation. Can be very useful in situations where an enemy tribe is raiding, or to cause troublesome creatures to tuck tail and run. Defensive Position (Space): This throws the porcupine into a secure position, similar to intimidation, but this allows the creature to strafe, swivel, and pivot its body in any direction (using WASD), using its back quills as a shield. This can be use to protect babies, as well as protect tames from other creatures attacking them, and ruining the effectiveness. Swat (X): Hystrix can use its large mammalian paws to swat away other creatures, while not doing to much damage, it can do knock-back to creatures as large as a Tyrannosaurus. Passive Quill Damage, or Hemorrhage: If any creature was to bite, swipe, or hit Hystrix on the back 80 percent of its body, it is in for a sharp and damaging surprise, being impaled by its 7-foot quills, in some cases. These quills cause bleeding and will stack if the Hystrix is hit by the same creature more than once when the bleed is over. Being impaled by a quill adds a new mechanic to the game. Similar to getting rid of leeches, survivors must pluck these quills off of themselves and their tames. If these quills are not removed, it causes a permanent de-buff the creature or survivors total HP. Once removed, they can regenerate to max health, but also will cause another bleed cycle once removed. More Hemorrhage Effect Information (Specific Health Status Changes): Hemorrhage is exclusive to the Giant Porcupine. It will produce 10 quills the get dislodged into an enemy, and deal 10% of its total health over 60 seconds, and will stack up 4 times. (The Porcupine has 40 quills that are able to be detached, which also goes with the 40 that can be shot through the air). In addition, the quills must be removed manually. Burning, pickaxe/hatchet, or manually using the inventory wheel are the only means of removing the quills. If the quills are not removed it will cause slow, constant bleed damage. Each quill still attached will cause 1 tick of damage every 10 seconds until removed. HARVESTABLE MATERIALS BY THE HYSTRIX REFOSSA MAXIMUS (In Order of Effectiveness) SAP Wood Crystal (All Types) Gems (All Types) Thatch Fiber Berries (Of all Kinds, except Narcoberry) Narcoberry Porcupine Quills (Harvesting From other Dead Porcupines; passively from itself over time) HARVESTABLE MATERIALS UPON HYSTRIX REFOSSA MAXIMUS DEATH Harvesting a Hystrix Refossa by a player or a tame is not safe. It’s even a risk harvesting it , due to its quills. Though it does less damage if it were alive, those spikes still pack a punch, even after the creature is expired. Raw Meat Raw Prime Meat Porcupine Quills: The quills can also be a replacement for chitin or keratin, similar to how organic polymer is to polymer. Hide AMAZING ARTWORK DONE BY MufDaddyMac!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS AWESOME WORK! EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT HYSTRIX REFOSSA MAXIMUS Hystrix is naturally a passive creature, just ensure you do not accidentally touch a wild one. If this happens, you will get poked by its quills, then will become aggressive. Hystrix quills do not do damage to one another, but the individual melee damages one another (A porcupine can not hurt another porcupine with its quills, the same way Fire Wyverns can’t damage other Fire Wyverns with its breath attack, but can with bites) Hystrix are not very fast travelers, running slow, but with a surprisingly effective turning radius. Hystrix has the highest base melee of any herbivore in the game, slightly giving an edge to Theris, but have mediocre health and extremely low weight. Hystrix are not fast swimmers at all, and have one of the worst oxygen bars in the game. Hystrix can not be picked up by any creature in the game due to the quills Hystrix drop a new item, called Porcupine Quills. They can be obtained in several ways and have a variety of uses. They can rarely drop of wild Hystrix, obtained most from killing a wild Hystrix, or passively obtained from a tamed one. Once obtained, these quills can be applied to openable surfaces such as crafting stations, storage, or doors. They can also be applied to armor, able to be applied to flak, fur, riot, or chitin armor. Once a dino or another survivor hits someone wearing them, they get the same exact effect as they would if they attacked the Hystrix itself, just at a smaller, less dangerous scale. They can also be a replacement for chitin and keratin, too. Hystrix and Theris are now tied in the best herbivores in the game for PvP, or PvE engagements, with these two being front runners for the Dragon boss fight. Sap are these guys best friend. Ensure sap is in its inventory at all times in order to quickly regenerate quills faster. Fire Damage will reduce the damage of the quills Spawns in the wild with 2 parents, and up to three offspring In the wild, they detect the instant they are targeted by a predator and immediately get into the defensive stance to protect they babies. Strafe and Swivel its back end to keep quills pointed in any direction Hystrix Refossa relies on its favorite food, sap, to be as effective as it possibly can. If Hystrix does not have sap in its inventory, it reduces the number of quills it can replenish, as well as growing them back at a slower rate. HYSTRIX REFOSSA IN THE REAL WORLD Hystrix Refossa was a species of old-world porcupine that lived in the Pleistocene era, hailing from most regions of Eurasia. Also known as the Giant European Porcupine, it is a direct ancestor of its cousin, the African Crested Porcupines, and the Indian Crested Porcupine, which it is the closest relative to the ladder, who hail from Africa and India, respectfully. (Mind Blowing, huh?). As a matter of fact, Hystrix Refossa is depicted to look almost identical to its two closest relatives, just having a much larger size, being roughly 20 percent larger than the aforementioned relatives. The “Maximus” portioned within the pitched creature indicates the gigantic size it grows to on the ARK. Much similar to several creatures on the ARK’s being slightly different subspecies to known prehistoric creatures, Hystrix Refossa Maximus is no exception to that rule. Its length reaches past a Stegosaurus, and its height of the tallest hind quills can reach lengths slightly taller than the head of a Tyrannosaurs, and when intimidating, those quills are comparable to the height of a Giga, or a Carchar. Thank you so much for considering this creature for the selection. It means a lot that you got this far ready the description. Please show your support by upvoting, and commenting your thoughts. Much appreciated, stay blessed!- 9 replies

Styracosaurus - the Herbivore King
Thesurvivalist2019 posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
A sibling creature to the Triceratops and was a skin for one. I believe this could be implemented as a creature. how can it be different to the Trike? make it bigger and and give it a special ability. now to be honest that feels a little default but ill try something with this. the Styracosaurus with its big crown can be a sign of royalty to other herbivores. Its loud roar can rally other herbivores to aid it in combat giving it's allies a boost in damage and resistance like a yutyrannus. however unlike a yuty it only works on herbivores and its main benefit is in gathering offering herbivore tames a 30% gathering boost and weight boost making resource farming much more. i even whipped up a dossier. I'm not a great artist but i hope the feeling is there for this. I was thinking as a taming method you earn its respect by protecting it from waves of creatures after feeding it special food. the higher the level the bigger the creatures and youll have its body guards to help as well.-
