  1. Me and a buddy were traveling between bases when we spotted a high lvl griffin. So, we grabbed our tribemate’s griffin to go tame it. The wild griffin killed our tamed griffin, and disappeared in the ensuing pandemonium. We eventually found another, considerably lower level than the original tamed griffin, to tame as an “I’m sorry” replacement griffin. And that concluded the allotted Ark time I had. Not very efficient...
  2. PS4-Unofficial-PVP-Boosted-Modded-Capped-Diced-Chunked-Covered I met wyverns for the first time: Poisoned my pelagornis And Rotisseried my pteranodon Now I say their name like: “why Vern!?”
  3. I can fly!!! Man that’s cool! I was prepared for another ptera but this was a Tapejara, which, when I spooked it from afar it went to the big rock outcropping on the South Island? I was able to sneak up on it pretty easy. That is the coolest bird, with the hover thing, but since I don’t have any comparable experience my opinion is pretty biased. I did have a ptera once, but it decided to occupy the space between my swinging metal hatchet and a rock: is that natural selection? Ha! Probably didn’t wanna breed that one anyway. And I learned to have them follow me from farther away. I’m lvl 50ish and finally have need of a second base. I have a few taming “camps” but need something more permanent for metal and crystal farming. I flew to frozen tooth and found a perch to get started. Watched a trio of male anklos defend themselves from a scorpion and a huge bird (argent maybe?). Figured that was my time to pounce but only knocked one of them out. Which was all premature because I wasn’t ready to do anything with him, but I can make kibble pretty quick so no big deal. Now I’m at home base and am excited to get back on and prepare for the next trip!
  4. Hatched eggs for the first time. I was feeling confident because it wasn’t the hectic nightmare I read about; it was kinda laid back and easy. I threw two dimo eggs in and both were twins.... so, this is what they mean! Then my 2 yr old wants to come over and jack with my controller, because that’s fun for her.... Ran into a Rex for the first time while looking for the South cave. Wouldn’t you know it had a mate... handled the first with minimal losses, but we got separated when the second showed up. Cleaned me out. One animal made it out: that dang parasaur. It’s a survivor man. Was able to get my loot (that I could find because of the undergrowth), most saddles and what not, limped home to recoup. Decided to explore the other side of the islet. There’s a ton of raptors over there, among other things. Got wiped again. Died 3 times before I went home and made a set of armor, and a shotgun. While I was doing that a theriz started going ape on my building. I had only made one shell by then and he took it in the face, a couple pokes with a pile, then I set the dimos on him. I let the alpha female keep the claw trophy. Reclaimed my stuff and tamed a raptor and a higher lvl trike. I owed it to the parasaur to 1) reclaim his stuff 2) get revenge on the spino that killed him. Note: wooden spike barricade will not stop a spino. That thing charged right through the defenses. I had everything on passive, maybe that’s why they all lived? Anyway, that was just a weird fight. It looked like it was just going crazy, not killing anything, just running around scaring the daylights out of me. It’s death was pretty sweet though. It had went behind a boulder and out of vision/ SG range. But it came charging back, seemed to go airborne over the rock, lunging at me and I blasted it with buckshot! It’s momentum carried it into the water and piranhas got on it.
  5. Dude, I’m so far away from air conditioners. I just found out the preserving bin runs on spark powder. I thought it was just an ingredient. Maybe the trap is my next project.
  6. If the roller coaster stops would it still be fun? i wanted to do some solo-ing last night so I could close off our fence. Twenty seconds after logging in, in the middle of the night, a theriz wandered up and killed my son’s dodo. This set off a bloodbath that left a total of 9 tames dead: among the corpses was 5 Dilos and a new female trike. It took the death of another trike for me to get the rythym of the knock back down. By the time I was ready to log off (which was way too late for a working man) I had tamed 8 new Dinos. Got a breeding pair of dimos ( shout out to Aushegun and others who take time to help the new guy), gathered my first two fertilized eggs, and finished the fenced yard. Finally planted the special veges, and am anxious to see if the son is as apathetic toward fake gardening as he is with real gardening. The carbo I got seems superfluous now. I was going to lvl hp and use it as bait to tame a carno or some other man-eating beast. Thoughts?
  7. I was reading up on the dimo actually; does seem like it’ll be worth my time. The map shows its habitat spreading further south than the redwoods so I’ll keep my eyes peeled. Traditional? Or compound? I inherited a traditional (bob Evans?) with a 55lb pull. Took me a week to develop the strength to draw it. Bummer though, I lost it in a divorce before I could use it.
  8. We play the regular island map; all settings and stuff are just factory, out of the box settings. That’s a good idea. Maybe we’ll get him one of those monkeys I’ve seen walking around. Thanks man.
  9. SP, ps4 so my noob-self and noob-7 yr old were noobin it up last night, just farming some rocks, and we ran across an alpha raptor eating something. This was probably the first time I saw something new to me and didn’t pause the game and look it up on gamepedia...and we paid for it. So we’re each on trikes, have our parasaurs (which he loves), I have 3 lvl 20+ Dilos and a teen lvl carno that I lucked upon. I see that alpha is distracted and start pumping it with tranq arrows. About the time I see nothing is happening, this thing and my carno tie up like a couple of pit bulls! Fast man, in the blink of an eye they’ve already made it behind one of these big boulders. My son panics (Ark has made this kid throw down his controller and run across the room) and whistles....something. The only tame that follows me into the fight is that dang parasaur. I dismounted the trike to help with my pike, but it availed us nothing. Right after I died Cayli the carno bit the dust, then Redfin the parasaur. He ruberbanded back to base with me, freaked out again, and had to listen to me gripe the whole walk back. I mounted and fixed all the whistle commands, then promptly dispatched the offending alpha, since now everyone was on the same page. This one burned for a bit...but lesson(s) learned.
