  1. For anyone wondering - Acinonyx was submitted before Miracinonyx. LittleSpicyOreas reached out to me before Center votes occurred, since they wanted to submit a cheetah as well. We ultimately decided to just go ahead with our own ideas as individual submissions.
  2. Yeah, it seems there's some negative comments going around. I'm not sure about giving it an attack in Blazing Style or the bleeding, but giving it object destruction in Maximum Acceleration sounds good, so I added it.
  3. I don't plan to submit it for Extinction since I want the Miracinonyx to have a break before it reappears in another vote. But I'll 100% resubmit it for Valguero.
  4. It's already capable of running on water without needing the TEK saddle. The Center is full of water so I decided it would be too much of a hassle to get the TEK saddle for it just to overcome water. It should be already naturally capable of having some form of aquatic traversal.
  5. This isn't a creature solely built for open space. It's a flexible, all-terrain mount that is comfortable with virtually any terrain. The Center is full of rugged landscapes and patches of water, and travel is what came to mind for me. Besides that, I made a promise that I was going to have it return to voting for the Center after I pulled it off the Aberration votes.
  6. "Will the Miracinonyx be resubmitted if it loses?" I'll resubmit it for Valguero. But after that, I'm done with it. I want move on and make new creature ideas for future votes. Anyways... From the same creator as the Ornimegalonyx and the Armadillosuchus The Miracinonyx! The ultimate embracer of SPEED CREEP Wild: I used to believe that Gallimimus were the fastest sprinters of this ecosystem - that was, until I witnessed Miracinonyx rapidos. It appeared out of the bushes as a mere blur, whizzing the air behind it as it blitzed forwards. Before I had even realized it, it had already killed a Gallimimus. Domesticated: I hope you’re well prepared to ride a Miracinonyx, because their speed is overwhelming. I’d compare the force of their initial velocity to the rush of a roller coaster launch - and much like any roller coaster, you better be holding on damn tight, because this fervent feline will send you shooting up nearly-vertical cliffs and speeding across bodies of water. If you can stomach the g-force, you’ll be able to take advantage of its speed in crafty ways - most notably by laying waste to everything you run past. You'll be able to leave a trail of fire in your wake, or perhaps toss aside explosives for a bombing run. Kind of reminds me of an old racing video game that I forgot the name of… What does it do? SPEED The Miracinonyx aims to be the fastest creature in the entire game - surpassing even the speediest DLC mounts. With it, you'll be able to rush across the surface of water, shoot right up cliffs, and bolt through any dense, complex terrain in mere seconds. So whether you're faced with the most rugged of canyons, the widest of oceans, or the densest forest floors, the Miracinonyx is sure to let you quickly overcome any landscape and get you from point A to B with lightning-fast velocity. This is a mount made for absolute speed demons. That said, it's also capable of pulling off some craftily combative tricks. With blazing agility, it can spark up some heat and trap foes in trails of fire. Even snarkier is its ability to run up to a target and quickly slip an active bear trap, grenade, or other primed weapon right under their feet. Should all else fail, a well-timed speedy swipe is sure to deal some sufficient hit-and-run damage. After a long day of running, the Miracinonyx would be more than happy to turn a few rocks into scratching posts, grinding chunks of it into fine sparkpowder. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Extra Notes: Receives no fall damage. Possesses some degree of swimming/paddling. Can transition from swimming to running atop the water. Default sprinting speed is akin to that of a Managarmr. Sprinting speed upon using its Maximum Boost ability lets it just barely surpass the TEK Skiff. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Abilities: [C/Crouch] - Style Switch The Miracinonyx has four different Styles that it can switch into, each with its own gimmick. Standard Style: The default mode. Allows the Miracinonyx to use its standard [Mouse1] attack. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hazard Deployment Style: In this Style, the Miracinonyx’s [Mouse1] attack is replaced with an aiming reticle that allows the player to throw any deployable traps or explosives on the run in Mario Kart-fashion. Deployables must be in your inventory beforehand, and you can cycle through which one you wish to throw. If you deploy a trap (such as a plant species Y or bear trap), it’ll be instantly ready the moment it hits the ground, while an explosive (such as grenades and plant species Z fruit) will have a quicker fuse time. There is no cooldown or limit to how many deployables you can throw per second, so theoretically (and if your Miracinonyx has enough weight), you could run through an open field and completely spam it in hundreds of bombs or bear traps in mere seconds, transforming any empty space into a crazy minefield within the blink of an eye. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blazing Style: In this Style, the Miracinonyx sparks its claws ablaze through friction. Holding down [Mouse1] will create a fire trail as you run. The Miracinonyx requires sparkpowder in its inventory to produce a fire trail, and it depletes through it quite rapidly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leisure Travel Style: In this Style, the Miracinonyx will autonomously swerve around nearby obstacles, such as rocks, trees, and creatures. (If auto-dodging is too much of a pain for Wildcard to program, they could alternatively just make it burst through obstacles like the Andrewsarchus does) This would allow players to leisurely travel through the densest forest floors at high speed without the inconvenience of getting snagged on a tree trunk or rock. However, you cannot attack while in this Style. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Mouse1] - Speed Swipe (Requires Standard Style) Tap [Mouse1] to perform a normal attack, much like any other creature. However, if you hold [Mouse1] while sprinting, you’ll begin charging up a powerful swipe attack. While charging, a meter appears on the screen. The meter contains a slim green bar, followed by a large red bar, while an arrow glides across the meter. Time the meter correctly and land on the green bar to deal high damage! ... But if you mistime the attack and release on the red bar (or if you stop sprinting) you’ll fumble the swipe. A good sense of distance and delay-prediction are needed to perform landing a perfectly-timed swipe on your target. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Mouse2] - Maximum Boost Hold down [Mouse2] to cause the Miracinonyx to rocket forwards at speeds so great, it becomes a blur. While under the effects of this super-speedy boost, turning becomes harder, but you can zip across the surface of water. If Leisure Travel Style is selected when using Maximum Boost, it has the additional benefit of destroying trees and rocks on the run. While speeding, you'll be able to drift by quickly readjusting your direction. If you're good at controlling the drift, then you'll be able to masterfully overcome this ability's innate turn speed reduction. ↩️↪️ Maximum Boost can be held for as long as you like, but once you let go, a cooldown will occur. Bumping into any non-destructible objects - such as a wall, or too steep a slope - will forcibly halt the ability to an end. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Spacebar] - Clamber Up Press [Spacebar] to jump, or hold [Spacebar] to charge up an even greater jump. If you double tap Spacebar] when against a wall, you will latch onto it and can climb. If you hold [Spacebar] when against a very large creature, like a Bronto, you will also climb up it. Upon reaching its top, you’ll leap off its back and gain a speed boost. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Melee/Pistol Whip] - Scratching Post Use this interaction to scratch the Miracinonyx’s claws against a rock. Doing so will sharpen the Miracinonyx’s claws and grant it a temporary damage boost. As a bonus, you’ll scrape out a sizable chunk of sparkpowder from the rock: a resource that no existing creature can farm. Alternatively, you can scratch a tree, which will yield thatch. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Radial Menu Interaction] - Cuddle For Warmth Give some nice pats to your fellow Miracinonyx and gain a temporary boost to insulation (thanks to Stewbarry3.14 for suggesting this humorously loveable idea). ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 𝕋𝔼𝕂 𝕊𝕒𝕕𝕕𝕝𝕖: Through the use of a TEK Saddle, the Miracinonyx’s Blazing Style is modified. Instead of fire trails, it will instead produce trails of physical barriers, and require Element as fuel. Barriers persist for a long duration, but enemies can damage them to make them disappear faster. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Taming Process Baby Miracinonyx are found hiding in bushes or tight corners in the wild, shy of everything that wanders by. Players must approach carefully and repeatedly feed it meat to gain its trust. But beware of its parents, which lurk around the vicinity. Should the baby be startled, its nearby parents will immediately attack anything responsible for scaring it. If you do manage to tame it, the baby will be imprinted to you, and must be raised from there on. Even when in the safety of human care, the baby Miracinonyx remains an incredibly nervous creature. You won't be able to complete the imprinting process by yourself. In order to give your Miracinonyx the full enrichment it deserves, pair it with a "companion dog" (Like a Direwolf, Ravager, or other similarly-sized creature). Much like how real cheetahs are raised in captivity, this companion will help you get the full imprint potential out of your baby. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for reading. I'll be reading the comments of this submission whenever I can, so feel free to leave any suggestions.
  7. It's an Ornimegalonyx sculpture from the (now nonexistent) Cuba exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History. They just so happen to have it in a cave setting since a few of its fossils were found in cave deposits.
  8. Oh, fingers surely crossed. I too hope the Owl shall hop its way right into heart. And your liver. And whatever other vital organ it deems tasty.
  9. I'm not planning to resubmit the Owl for other maps since it was solely designed for Aberration.
  10. I also thought I didn't do the proportions well, so I slimmed it up. Hope it's better now.
  11. I still don't think it's the best creature for Extinction in terms of theming. Sure, Extinction does have a lot of flat ground, but I predict that people are going to make comparisons between the cheetah and the mana, and the whole corrupted shtick feels like something with a more violent feel would fit better. Convince me otherwise, though. I've actually been considering doing a Scutosaurus submission for Extinction votes, due to its iconic Walking With Monsters episode representing it as a doomed wasteland survivor. You can totally expect me to make a Valguero submission for the cheetah though, and I promise you I will put more effort in the artwork for it than I have for any of my previous submissions.
  12. Of all the comments I've seen on this submission, I think I spent the most time thinking about yours. Don't worry about offending me with your opinion, because this is the sort of criticism that I wish I got more often. I know a lot of people like the gimmick of auto-dodging since it removes the irritation involved in traversing thick forest terrain, but I've been reconsidering it - especially since there's another friend of mine who suggests I consider adding a replacement mechanic which can aid in traversing said thick terrain, but isn't autonomous, so there's room for some skill expression (and perhaps giving Wildcard's programmers some realistic relief as well). I've also definitely noticed all the comments saying it's unfitting for Aberration, even despite the visual redesign and the few new/reworked abilities - and I suppose I can see why. There's a bunch of other submissions for some bizarre and creepy critters that are more thematic with Aberration's alienating theme, and a big cat isn't the most "alien" critter. That said, I've noticed there is still a ton of players who do like the cheetah and don't seem to mind it being in Aberration. But for next time, I will not be resubmitting the cheetah for Extinction or Gen1. I'll wait for either the Center, Valguero, or Crystal Isles votes to open.
  13. Oh I've totally noticed, and I'm also a bit surprised about how it got to top ten despite all the comments. It has been making me consider holding the cheetah back in future votes until Center/Val/Crystal comes out. I don't think it will do well in the Extinction or Gen1 round.
  14. Sounds pretty good. I implemented the first two suggestions into the post. I didn't add the third because I don't think dismounts+stuns are fun.
  15. ___________________________________________________________________________ New Art! (+Dossier artwork) Wild: To my knowledge, there are no Terror Birds that inhabit this twisted, bioluminescent ARK. So supposedly, their absence is what caused Ornimegalonyx affinis to evolve in their place. But one should not take this fact with relief, for this enormous, flightless owl suits that niche a bit too perfectly. As with all owls, its vision is impeccable; it can detect the faintest trace in the darkest depths. In fact, its retinas seem to be capable of producing charge light, which further bolsters its eyesight. And don’t be fooled by its flightless nature, because it’s one hell of an athlete. Their powerful legs allow them to bounce off walls - and even the backs of large creatures - in order to reach higher elevations. Domesticated: A domesticated Ornimegalonyx is probably among the best scouts that this sunken ecosystem has to offer. Its huge eyes are great for spotting danger, and although its agility may be difficult to handle, once mastered, survivors will be able to use the terrain in creative ways in order to push onwards. Granted, its mobility still pales in comparison to the much larger feathered apex predator of this ecosystem, but nonetheless, I’ll take the owl over nothing. Thank you for the fanart, WolfTek7! ___________________________________________________________________________ Gameplay Summary: The Ornimegalonyx is designed to be a scout's best friend. With its telescope-like vision, it can detect various obstacles and threats from miles away, and its proficiency in doing so is buffed if the player has a spyglass, magnifying glass, or similar item on hand. Combined with its charge light eyes, it's an excellent spying mount. But that's not all; it's also a very crafty assassin. Riders of the Ornimegalonyx can perform some well-timed walljumps to parkour up rocky terrain, gaining enough altitude before diving down and pouncing on unsuspecting prey with deadly athleticism. Sure, this giant bird may not be able to fly. But that's not going to stop it from trying to launch an attack on you from above. Size: Raptor-height Damage: Around the same as an Argentavis Running Speed: Has a sprinting speed akin to a Direwolf Jumping Speed: Remarkably fast, especially when charged up Tier: Mid-game mount ___________________________________________________________________________ Abilities: [Melee/Pistol Whip] Shrewd Eyes: The Ornimegalonyx perches itself down and widens its eyes. This enhances the rider’s POV with night vision, alongside the option to flexibly zoom-in and out. The zoom-in range is practically infinite, and will extend the rider’s render distance as it goes further. Theoretically, you could spy on the Rock Drake nest while still being inside the fertile zone! Zooming in will also allow the rider to hear noises from far away. The downside to this ability is that the Ornimegalonyx will create a spotlight at whatever it stares at. So while it’s great for scouting from any distance, anyone that’s being spied on will know they’re being spied on. Using a Spyglass, Magnifying Glass, or Electronic Binoculars while this ability is active will enhance this zoom-in feature with their effects, like their ability to identify level or torpor. __________________________________________________________________________ [Crouch] Toggleable - Charge Light Retinas: The Ornimegalonyx toggles its retinas to produce Charge Light, lighting up a cone-shaped area in front of its head, like car lights. This slowly drains stamina. While active, anything within the “car lights” of the Ornimegalonyx are highlighted, which includes hidden creatures (including invisible ones), explorer notes, traps, and lvl150 creatures. Additionally, just like the light of a glow pet, this scares Nameless, as well as removes their resistances. Reapers are also weakened. This ability works while using its [Melee/Pistol Whip] ability, Shrewd Eyes, allowing the Ornimegalonyx to detect said objects from a limitless distance away, as well as dousing Nameless and Reapers in charge light; but only if they are within in the AoE of its aforementioned spotlight. If you have a Light Pet equipped, then the width of this ability's area of effect is increased. ____________________________________________________________________________ [Mouse1] - Blinding Flash: By holding down Mouse1, the Ornimegalonyx will begin charging up a flash attack. Release it like a flash bomb to blind foes, then slip into invisibility for just a few seconds. Use the opportunity to escape! If you don't hold Mouse1, then the Ornimegalonyx simply does a normal bite. But anyone bitten by the Ornimegalonyx will have their silhouette revealed and visible behind structures and walls for a long duration. They won't be able to hide! __________________________________________________________________________ [Spacebar] - Wall Jump: Tapping [Spacebar] will make the Ornimegalonyx jump. However, by holding down [Spacebar], the Ornimegalonyx will charge up a larger jump. When the Ornimegalonyx is airborne, the player can once again tap [SPACEBAR] within close proximity of a wall (or perhaps even a tree) to rebound off that wall in the opposite direction, therefore achieving a wall jump. The direction of the wall jump can be slightly angled with the player’s FOV. Additionally, the player can hold [Spacebar] against the wall for an even greater wall jump. A fully-charged wall jump covers twice the distance of a fully-charged grounded jump. __________________________________________________________________________ [Mouse2] - Aerial Dash / Slow Descent Quickly tap [Mouse2] while airborne to dash in the direction you are looking. The dash is very brief, and can only be used once until you make contact with the ground or on a wall. Any small creature the Ornimegalonyx makes a direct hit on while dashing will be pounced on. If a larger creature is hit instead, the Ornimegalonyx will bounce off their back and greatly rebound into the air, effectively becoming a sort of big “double” jump; this also refreshes the ability’s cooldown and lets you do an Aerial Dash one more time. Holding [Mouse2] will instead cause the Ornimegalonyx to glide, but only for around 3-5 seconds at a time before needing to touch the ground or a wall to refresh it back up (it's not as proficient at gliding as the Rock Drake!) Imagine the possible combinations of mobility needed to ascend up rocky structures with the Ornimegalonyx! Say there was a massive wall in front of you. You wouldn't be able to just simply climb up it like a Rock Drake can. You'll need to string your mobility moves together! Find nearby structures to combo your wall jump with. Perhaps even a nearby large creature to dash into and leap off. And don't spam the glide - it's only active for a few seconds at a time. Get creative with the Ornimegalonyx's mobility and find opportunities in the environment to reach various heights. __________________________________________________________________________ [Radial Wheel Option] - Sentry Mode: While unmounted, the Ornimegalonyx can serve as a base-surveying sentry, using its huge eyes to pry for any nearby intruders. Players and creatures that stumble into its spotlight will be revealed and alerted. Invisibility won't help: the owl can detect even the most well-hidden of foes. Should a wild creature be detected, the Ornimegalonyx will let out a skittering shriek and scare them away. If the wild creature attacks instead, then the Ornimegalonyx will drop down and battle it. Players that attempt to snipe a surveying Ornimegalonyx from a distance will find themselves highlighted and revealed to the entirety of the tribe that the Ornimegalonyx belongs to. __________________________________________________________________________ How to tame Ornimegalonyx: Wild Ornimegalonyx live in the less-populated areas of the fertile zone. They can also be found alongside the fringes of the bioluminescent marshes. They are often in their Sentry Mode, spying for nearby prey like a terrifying living spotlight. They have a particularly developed taste for light pets. Purposefully walk into the spotlight of an Ornimegalonyx, then throw your light pet off your shoulder. The Ornimegalonyx will lock onto the light pet and gobble it up. The higher the level of the sacrifice, the quicker the taming bar will commence. Take caution to make sure it targets the pet and not you. Ornimegalonyx are quite fragile creatures. Do your best to lure it away from more powerful threats. Alternatively, here's a Youtube comment suggestion that sounded really creative: __________________________________________________________________________ On an unrelated note... Some of you may know that I am also the creator of the Miracinonyx (the American Cheetah). Well, as of recently, I decided to remove my cheetah submission. The reason for my motivation is because both the owl and the cheetah were in top ten, and I couldn't help but to feel it was unfair that both my submissions were taking the top spots. This does not mean the cheetah is gone forever. It will return for The Center and Valguero votes. __________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for reading, and feel free to leave any suggestions. I am more than happy to incorporate feedback, so go ahead and comment whatever wild ideas you might have.
  16. IMPORTANT NOTE: I have removed the Miracinonyx from the Aberration creature votes. Why? Well, mainly because I am also the creator of the Ornimegalonyx (the Giant Flightless Owl). Both the owl and the cheetah were in top ten, and I couldn't help but to feel it was unfair that both my submissions were taking the top spots. This does not mean the cheetah is gone forever. It will return for The Center and Valguero votes. The Miracinonyx returns from the Ragnarok Creature Votes! This fast feline was originally created to traverse the varied terrain of Ragnarok's rugged landscape, but the cavernous depths of Aberration could also see fit for it. At a design standpoint, The Miracinonyx dares to be the fastest sprinter in the whole game - even surpassing the Managarmr. If you enjoy spawning creatures on singleplayer and maximizing their movement speed just for the fun of racing around, then the Miracinonyx is a mount that will capture every essence of that thrill and dial it up to an unimaginable velocity, all while retaining viability in PvP thanks to its potent area denial abilities. Autonomous obstacle-dodging and speedy climbing make it fit to thrive in Aberration's crowded caverns, while its ability to instantly deploy traps and hazards off its back make it a powerful threat in either a chase or a battle. Additionally, a few of its previous abilities have been reworked to be more in-line with Aberration. The Rock Drake may be Aberration's prime mount for airborne travel, but the Miracinonyx is sure to be the prime mount for grounded travel. New Artwork: Old Artworks: Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Rideable: Yes (saddle optional) What does it excel at? SPEED. Behold, the fastest creature the Ice Age has ever seen. The Miracinonyx is a lightly-built predator that can gather meat and hide in a pinch - but that's not its selling point. What makes this creature truly special is its fantastic stamina, impeccable turning radius, and PHENOMENAL agility. It can easily race amongst the fastest DLC creatures. But such speed comes with a concern: how can you even control where you are going without bumping into objects? When mounted, a toggleable mobility mode allows the Miracinonyx to autonomously swerve around obstacles, such as rocks, deep water, trees, and even other creatures! Think of it like a more complex version of the TEK Skiff's Autonomous Hover mode (yes, there are examples of simple smart pathing that already exist in the game - and ASA may improve it even further). This would allow survivors to move at ridiculous speeds through the densest forest floors without the inconvenience of getting snagged on a tree trunk or rock. The Miracinonyx will do the dodging for you, so your focus is free to do other things, like checking your GPS or map. It also has a pretty sizeable jump! However, for as long as the toggle is on, the Miracinonyx won't be able to climb. You'll need to toggle it off to do that. Climbing with the Miracinonyx isn't identical to the Rock Drake. In order for the Miracinonyx to climb upwards, it first needs to build up a good amount of acceleration. Back up a bit to prep some speed, then zoom forwards and rush up the cliff face before your lose your momentum to gravity! (Fun Fact: During the Ragnarok votes, this climbing ability was pretty much identical to that of the Rock Drake's. But since this is a map where the Rock Drake lives, I figured I needed to change it) You'll also be able to climb up and down vines/ziplines as an option. Undoubtedly, this is a mount designed for travel. But it also has a combative side (apart from its bites, that is). When equipped with a canister-loaded saddle, the Miracinonyx is capable of spewing a trail of irradiating gas wherever it runs, coating the battlefield into a noxious hazard. Deny swaths of area from your opponent! Congealed gas balls are used to fuel this gaseous trail. For a more solid approach at area denial, try the TEK Saddle, which will leave behind a trail of physical barriers as you run forwards, as well as allow the Miracinonyx to sprint across the surface of water! Additionally, any deployable traps or weapons that the survivor may have in their inventory can be thrown on the run, Mario Kart-style. Explosives such as grenades, plant species Z fruit, etc. can be tossed in front or behind you as you run, while traps such as bear traps, plant Y species, etc. are instantly ready the moment they hit the ground. Zip by your foes and toss a ̶b̶a̶n̶a̶n̶a̶ ̶p̶e̶e̶l̶ bear trap right under their feet! ... But if you're ever in the mood for a more direct approach of damage, there's nothing stopping you from using guns while mounted on the Miracinonyx! You've got to be one impressive sniper if you can pick off a target while moving at such high speed. And lastly - cuddle buffs! (This was a pretty humorous suggestion from the previous voting round that I just absolutely had to add in) Give some nice pats to your Miracinonyx and gain a temporary boost to insulation. What is it weak to?: - Turrets. Their lock-on accuracy will whittle down the Miracinonyx's frail health pool in a flash. Be careful around enemy bases with it. - Traps set by enemies. Despite being a trap setter itself, the Miracinonyx's smart pathing won't detect traps, so it might run directly into one. - Somewhat low weight. It's not terrible, but don't expect it to carry around your stacks of stone. - Inadequate bite damage. It is not designed for DPS. How do you tame it?: The Miracinonyx is not tamed by conventional methods. Baby Miracinonyx are often found hiding in bushes or tight corners in the wild, shy of everything that wanders by. Survivors must approach carefully, and repeatedly feed it meat to gain its trust. But beware, for if it were to be startled, its nearby parents will immediately attack anything responsible for startling it. If you do manage tame it, the baby will be imprinted to you, and must be raised from there on. But alas, even when in the safety of human care, the baby Miracinonyx remains an incredibly nervous creature. Open to suggestions! Feel free to comment your own ideas. And of course, thank you for reading. I originally had no plans to resubmit the Miracinonyx past the Ragnarok votes, and instead began working on another creature in preparation for Aberration (the Ornimegalonyx). But after seeing the Miracinonyx arrive at 2nd place (just inching behind the Gigantoraptor) I decided to put effort into making new artwork for it. For those who had supported the Miracinonyx beforehand, thank you. Perhaps if it happened to reach 2nd place again, Wildcard may be grateful enough to add it in like they had done with the Carchadontosaurus' instance.
  17. I've implemented aspects of all your suggestions! I say "aspects" since I gave my own spin on them. But do check out the new artwork - I mention all your names as a special thanks at the bottom of the post too
