  1. Ozimek is too dumb to think of using safe-ranged weaponry. It dashes into opponents for close range like an idiot.
  2. The Ozimek isn't meant to counter flyers at any elevation. It is meant to punish them if they get too close to the ground or other surfaces. Flyers will be safe if they can stay outside its Soaring Strike range. But this isn't as easy as it sounds, as the Soaring Strike attack range is some hundred meters in distance. Think of it like threatening aera denial.
  3. I was tempted to give it a climbing ability, but that would make it feel too similar to the Rock Drake. So I gave it the super jump instead. You'll be using the super jump for the same purpose as climbing: to get up higher cliffs.
  4. Upload your image anywhere else on the internet, then copy the link and paste it into the submission.
  5. Cotylorhynchus. It is arguably the weirdest creature submission I've made so far.
  6. Garuga! I am surprised to see you here. The timing of your arrival is actually kinda funny, since not too long ago, I replied to someone about how I worked a little bit on your mod. I'm happy you like the Ozimek.
  7. As much as I'd want to let players play their own music, the last thing I'd want them to do is deliberately play obnoxious sounds and annoy their ARK neighbors with it.
  8. The gist is that you only shoot it when its dizzy, because it won't notice. If you shoot it while its still focused, it will drop what its doing and attack you.
  9. Yep. I have loads of ideas in my head, so I'm doing double submissions for this round. From now on, I'm going to prioritize making new creatures over resubmitting old ones.
  10. Funny that you say that, because I did work for ARK: Additions a bit. I am the artist behind the Savage Acro boss flag.
  11. As it did not win the Extinction vote, Ozimek is being turned into a mod _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ozimek volans is a Triassic reptile with special adaptations for gliding flight. It is also carnivorous, maniacally insane, and somewhat of an idiot. (All artwork by me) Wild: According to the ARK Database that I found in the city’s terminals, Ozimek insanum was created for the desert ARK to fulfil the role of a dangerous airborne threat. But the Wyvern ended up being picked for that role instead, so the Ozimek was left abandoned on Earth. It’s quite a shame that happened, because this leaping lizard is a fascinating predator, utilizing both vicious athleticism and deadly accuracy to bring down its favorite food: flying prey. Domesticated: This is one of the most effective aerial predators you could ever own. The secret lies in its specialized venom which quickly drains its targets' stamina. Even the bombastic Managarmr is driven to exhaustion from a few drops of its venom. Other than that, the Ozimek is a great travel buddy and a surprisingly loyal hunting partner that’s more than willing to keep your feeding troughs full of fresh meat while you’re away. Just don't challenge it to a staring contest. Perfectly adapted... not _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Gameplay Summary: Flyers are among the most versatile creatures in ARK, but they don’t have many counters. Thylacoleos, Reapers and Net Guns are capable of pinning them down, but otherwise, that seems to be it. All those three options are prone to missing their shot as well. The Ozimek seeks to be a new addition to the arsenal of anti-flyers. This reptile may look strange; perhaps even silly. And sure - it can’t fly. But it can run and jump at profound speeds, and it certainly won’t hesitate to attack airborne prey with a gliding ambush! The Ozimek doesn’t care if its target is a giant Rhyniognatha or a little Lymantria. Its intrusive thoughts dictate that as long as something flies, its food. With a big leap from the ground, it lands atop its airborne prey and injects dangerous doses of venom that quickly remove its victims’ stamina, forcing them to land. Once grounded, they’re easy pickings! This creature is a big PvP counter to anyone on the wing, but it also has a strong purpose on PvE too. Let it guard your base, and it’ll make sure to supply your feeding trough with meat whenever it makes a kill on a wild creature. Additionally, you can keep it on guard during an OSB or Corrupted Vein battle and it'll quickly shred apart any approaching corrupted Pteranodons or Wyverns. And lastly, it’s a fantastic travel mount with a gliding gimmick that’s unlike the Rock Drake or Maewing. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Abilities: [Mouse1]: Bite A venomous bite. This attack will steal the stamina of its bitten victim. The potency of the stamina-stealing venom works its way faster with each bite. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Spacebar]: Leaping Lizard Hold [Spacebar] on the ground to begin charging up a super massive jump. An arrow icon will show you exactly where you will land, allowing the player to accurately judge their arrival point. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Shift]: Glide & Dive The Ozimek can glide, but it needs to build up some speed before doing so. Begin to ramp up momentum with its fast running speed, then jump into the air and transition into gliding. Gliding downwards will increase its speed. If you glide down and transition back to running, all of the stored momentum will be carried over as bonus running speed. You can then use that bonus running speed to jump back into the air again, and vice versa. Repeat this momentous pattern and you’ll be able to generate some serious speed! _________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Mouse2]: Soaring Strike Leap onto flying prey from afar! Aim your target reticle at a flying creature to lock onto them. You’ll launch into the air at high speeds and home into your target, hooking onto them like a Deinonychus. The Ozimek will then gnaw at their body with its stamina-draining bites. Players that find themselves grappled by an Ozimek must struggle to shake it off, not indifferent to escaping a Bloodstalker or Desmodus. Whipping it off won't work: it is uniquely immune to the Whip. This pounce can also lock onto mounts that are similar to flyers, such as Managarmrs, Bloodstalkers, Rock Drakes, and even other Ozimeks (which will result in a comedic aerial scratch fight). You'll also be able to target the Desert Titan, which the Ozimek will deal massive bonus damage to (because it hungrily sees it as a giant fried wing). Soaring Strike will fail to lock onto anything that’s on the ground. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ [Radial Menu Option]: Sentry Mode The Ozimek will remain stationary in one spot and constantly scan its surroundings. When it spots a flying creature near or far, it will attack it with its Soaring Strike. After the target has been killed, the Ozimek will return back to its exact starting position, ready to rinse and repeat. If there is a feeding trough nearby, the Ozimek will transfer raw meat from its inventory into the feeding trough. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Taming: The Ozimek has an EXTREMELY fast torpor drain, alongside a stupidly large torpor bar. You'll struggle to knock it out through standard tranquilizers. However, there is a way around this. Firstly, you’ll need a flying mount. Secondly, force feed your flying mount with lots of narcotics, but keep it awake. Lastly, deliberately approach a wild Ozimek and let it use its Soaring Strike to grapple onto your mount. The Ozimek will take one bite and instantly ingest all the torpor out of your mount, likely knocking the Ozimek out in the process. Now be ready to feed it as fast as you can, because its hunger bar will drop like crazy. If you have some raw mutton or kibble on you beforehand, it should be tamed in no time. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Some of you may recognize me... Congratulations if you noticed quickly! I am the creator of the Miracinonyx, Ornimegalonyx and Armadillosuchus - and now the Ozimek! This is now my sixth time in the top ten. From now on, I will prioritize making new creatures ideas over resubmitting old ones. You can still expect to see some old creations return to the votes, but it won't happen often anymore. The Ozimek isn't the only new creature idea I made for Extinction. I'm doing a double submission! My other creature is the Sauroposeidon. My last double submission was during the Aberration votes, but I pulled one of them down. This time, however, I'd like to keep both up and see where they go. As always, thanks for reading. Feel free to leave any suggestions. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Bonus: The Art Gallery of Shockal's ARK Creature Submissions
  12. Turn ARK into a rhythm game with the mighty Sauroposeidon! (All artwork by me) Wild: Sauroposeidon rythmos is the largest dinosaur to inhabit the sunken forest. Of course, it’s nowhere near the size of the Forest Titan, but nonetheless, it towers over most animals. This mighty sauropod has a habitual tendency to stomp the ground, creating deep shockwaves that echo onwards for miles. Interestingly, when it stomps, it does so with a very rhythmic beat. Additionally, it will accompany its tempo with the bass of its voice and the smack of its tail. I’m not sure if they do this for communication or just for fun, but it seems they understand the concept of music. Domesticated: Riding a Sauroposeidon rythmos is like being the conductor of a living orchestra. Start a tempo with its stomps, and ramp it up with the bass of its voice and the clap of its tail. As its cadence swells, it’ll gain courage and grow more powerful. At its pinnacle, it’ll break into a song that will inspire the hearts of all creatures that hear it, turning the tide against even the most devastating corrupted hordes. Just try not to miss a beat, lest you ruin the rhythm! __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Gameplay Summary: Turn ARK into a rhythm game with the Sauroposeidon! Become a living percussion by rhythmically attacking to the beat of the battle theme - or any music you may have tabbed out (how would this work? I will explain it all below!) Stomp, kick, roar, and whip with a good sense of beat to achieve maximum DPS. Use your musical movement to inspire allies with the courage to continue fighting against the innumerable odds, wave after wave. Outside of combat, the Sauroposeidon is an incredibly reliable cargo traveler. Although not exactly “fast”, it still has decent speed, and it simply steps over various obstacles that smaller creatures would have been trapped in, like ledges and divots. It can also smash rocks and gather humongous quantities of flint: a resource which only few creatures are specialized to harvest. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Abilities: Passive Mechanic #1 - Omni Movement: The Sauroposeidon can turn in place, strafe, and attack while moving. Passive Mechanic #2 - Attack to the beat: The Sauroposeidon boasts a complex but fun rhythm mechanic! To activate the rhythm mechanic, you simply use any attack twice. The game will remember the amount of time that passed in-between your first and second attack, and that brief duration will dictate the speed of your tempo. For example, if the time in-between your first and second attack was one second, then you’ll create a tempo with one-second beats. Being able to choose your tempo means you'll be able to follow along with any song. A faster beat will result in less damage per stomp, while a slower beat will result in higher. The attack speed compensates for this, so the DPS should equal-out, regardless of tempo. As the tempo loops, you’ll need to time its beats with attacks in order to maintain it. Miss a beat, and the tempo will end. Continually miss the beats, and you’ll be debuffed with lower damage. But consistently land all your combos, and you'll slowly deal more damage. Keep going and mix it up with different attacks, and you’ll be rewarded with various buffs in the form of a rallying call. If nearby allies are using drums, Yutyrannus roars, or Mammoth drum saddles, the buff will be amplified even further. Start up a band! (If you wish to attack without triggering the rhythm mechanic, simply toggle it with [Crouch]) __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mouse1 - Leg Stomp: The Sauroposeidon stomps with its feet. The direction of the stomp is determined by the player’s FOV. For example, looking behind will cause the Sauroposeidon to stomp with its back feet. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mouse2 - Tail Crack: The Sauroposeidon uses its tail to whip enemies away. Much like the Leg Stomp, the direction of this tail attack is determined by the player’s FOV. It is a very long tail, so it can even hit enemies in front of the Sauroposeidon. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Spacebar - Neck Ram: The Sauroposeidon swings around its enormous neck. Again, like the previous two attacks, the direction of this neck attack is determined by the player’s FOV. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Reload - Rallying Call: Do the roar! The Rallying Call is only available after rhythmically performing twenty consecutive moves in a row, and the buff it provides depends on which attacks were used to lead up to it. - Leg Stomps grant 1% bonus damage per time used. - Neck Rams grant 1% damage resistance per time used. - Tail Cracks grant 1% increased speed per time used. This means that if you performed thirteen Leg Stomps, five Neck Rams, and two Tail Cracks before activating the Rallying Call, it would provide you and nearby allies 13% bonus damage, 5% damage resistance, and 2% increased speed. The duration of the buff is brief, but can be extended with another Rallying Call. The effects stack. If a nearby player is using war drums, Mammoth saddle drums, or a roaring Yutyrannus, the buff effects are doubled, and it grants the extra bonus effect of a temporary XP boost. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Taming: War drums! Approach a wild Sauroposeidon and play your hearty drums. The Sauroposeidon will notice and challenge you to a musical battle. After a few minutes of playing, the Sauroposeidon will start becoming dizzy from so much dancing - utilize that window of opportunity to shoot it with tranquilizers! Be quick before it regains its focus again. You don't want it to realize you're trying to knock it out. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ A possible TEK Saddle? A saddle fitted with giant TEK speakers that allows your Sauroposeidon to play any of ARK’s soundtrack in the game at any time! __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Some of you may recognize me...
