i get the same dimming effect at about halfway up the volcano

Agreed - killed multiple times by anti-mesh on volcano... self and tames, both on the surface and in some of the nooks / small cave areas. No obvious warning, just dead with log entry saying killed by anit-mesh. So frustrating
