  1. About: Protomandua is an extinct mammal from the Anteater family that lived in the Ice Age period. They were carnivorous and mainly fed on insects. They lived in north and central America, with some subspecies found in south Asia. Its defining features are its long tongue, its huge claws, and its long bushy tail. Attacks: Attack One – (LMB) – Standard claw swipe attack. Attack Two – (RMB) Charge Heat. – hold down to slowly consume charcoal, sulfur or propellant in inventory and build up inner heat, maximum 100%. Attack Three – (C) Flame Whip – Press the button to lash out your fiery tongue, which can set enemies on fire. Can also be held down to continuously spew flames out of Protomandua’s mouth, which drains 3% heat per second. Requires 50% heat to use flame breath, and 20% heat to use flame whip. Attack Four – (X) Flame Nova – at 100% heat, cause a massive inferno that deals heavy damage and burns everything around you, but consumes all 100% heat. Passive Abilities: -Immunity to all forms of fire damage, (Flamethrower, fire wyverns, Magmasaur, etc.) except Lava. -eating bugs heals you over time, similar to argents. If you eat an ant, you’ll be healed for double the normal amount and will also get a rage buff similar to the megatherium, increasing damage even further. -For every 1% heat, deal 2.5% increased damage. -heat benefits: -30% heat – claws now burn on hit and deal more damage. -50% heat – flame breath available. Claws attack much faster, and you run faster. -65% heat – flame breath has more range, and flame whip can attack much faster. -80% heat – begin to take damage over time, but attack much faster and deal much more damage. -100% heat – ignite on fire, everything that touches you is also set on fire. attacks much faster and moves much faster, but takes massive damage over time in return. Flame nova is available. -50% weight reduction on charcoal, sulfur, and propellant. -harvests thatch and wood from trees, and at 30% heat, converts some of the wood into charcoal. At 65% heat, converts all harvested wood into charcoal. At 50% heat, it would be able to harvest Sulfur from Sulfur Nodes. -being set on fire (flamethrowers, fire wyverns, magmasaurs, etc.) will charge up heat. Taming: -Found in the Sulfur Fields and maybe in the Sludge. Protomandua is immune to narcotics and Tranqs while charged with heat, so you will need to wait for it to aggro onto you and burn all of its fuel. Once it does so it would begin running away, and can then be knocked out. But the window would be short as it would regain its fiery rage shortly, and resume attacking you. Once knocked out, it can be fed Charcoal, Sulfur or Exceptional Kibble to tame. Other Notes: We don’t have a creature anything like this, the closest being the Megatherium. I feel like a large mammal such as an Anteater would be right at home in the ark universe, especially on a map such as Extinction. In terms of mechanics, we don’t have anything unique to the Sulfur fields as a spawn zone, so this would be a nice addition to spice up the wasteland. On top of that, we have many ice related creatures on Extinction such as the Snow Owl, Ice Titan and Managarmr, but nothing unique related to fire. In terms of power, I feel like it should be a parallel to the Managarmr in a way. Managarmr specializes in movement speed and crowd control, where as the Protomandua would specialize in damage over time and sheer attacking power. Please vote for the Protomandua!
  2. more fish are always welcome in ark, better than getting another therapod at least!
  3. props on the effort for sure, id love to have a proper crab in ark and especially one thats on fire
  4. you should open the file for the dossier in photos and click the 3 dots at the top, hit resize and resize the image until its below 400kb, then you should be able to edit this post and add it in! other than that, really cool idea, id love a manatee type creature in the game
  5. About the Creature: Hippocampus is an extinct type of sea horse that lived 13 million years ago and ate kelp and algae to survive. I’m real life, it was only the size of your hand, but I feel like upscaling it to the size of a carno could work very well We’ve never seen anything quite like this in ark, so it would be right at home in the diverse set of creatures. Especially on the center where the oceans are this vast, you’d want a good mount to explore them. No other map deserves a sea creature more than this one, and this could give the center just the push it needs to actually be played since the proposed abilities would help tribes who are in need of black pearls but don’t quite have the strength to kill alpha mosas. Attacks: Attack One – (LMB) – ranged ink shot. Landing multiple shots would cause a blindness effect like swimming into a tusoteuthis ink trail. A melee attack just doesn’t feel right for a seahorse, there’s nowhere on its body where it can really attack from besides shooting something out of its mouth. Besides, we don’t yet have a fully ranged Dino yet so this could be a nice first. Attack Two – (RMB) – Bubble Blast. Shoot a bubble that could trap smaller fish, maybe up to the size of an angler. Inside and immobilze it. Would be nice for taming, and this could even be used to shoot bubbles over allies or your allies creatures heads, giving them infinite oxygen for a short time. Helping keep the up oxygen for players, so you can help your allies If their scuba gear breaks mid-dive, or help ferry your dinosaurs into those underwater secret bubbles to build bases safely without needing to craft cryopods. Attack Three – (C) – Bubble Dash. Dash far forward and create a wall of bubbles behind you that acts as a wall only players and other Hippocampus could pass through. Certain whales and dolphins do this in real life, blowing columns of bubbles that fish brains perceive as a hard wall so they won’t swim through them, and I felt like incorporating it into this creature would be a perfect fit. This could be used to escape, or to trap potential tames or enemies. Also, no sea creature has a true movement ability besides the mantas jump, which I found strange. Passive Abilities: -By placing 1 oil and 10 silica pearls, you would then be able to select in the radial wheel to convert all pearls, which would turn the resources into a black pearl. Being able to craft them would be a game changer, especially for people who don’t like going in the water much. This would be a great alternative to killing mosas or eurypterids. And it being a sea creatures means it would be limited to maps areas water, balancing it out. Feeding it 10 Silica Pearls in the wild would also cause it to give you a black pearl, since it’s supposed to be a passive creature. This would be cheaper as it wouldn’t cost any oil, but you wouldn’t be able to bring it to your base. -By blinding targets with your ink blast attack, they’ll get a debuff which makes them able to drop black pearls on death. This would only be a chance and would probably not work on coel or pirhanas, so you’d need to target actual creatures and not be able to break it while still being able to farm black pearls through combat. I can see one player riding a Hippocampus and another on a Megalodon or Plesiosaur to farm black pearls efficiently. -when riding a Hippocampus, you can do bubble dashes to gain short bursts of speed. Another method of travelling, It would be able to skim across the water when travelling at the surface, making it much much faster. I envision it becoming some sort of jet ski, or like those sea dragons from Avatar 2. Being able to be the fastest water creature but only while at the surface would balance it. -The Hippocampus would have a weight reduction on both black pearls and silica pearls, as well as being alerted when close to either, similar to how a rockdrakes feathers perk up when it’s close to a reaper. How to Tame a Hippocampus: To tame a Hippocampus, the player will need to throw Silica Pearls on the floor. When the Hippocampus begins to eat the Silica, the player can ride it. While riding, the player will need to turn on the designated arrow that is indicated In a little minigame, pretty much the same method as an Andrewsarchus. They would be found basically all over the oceans, mostly in the shallows or could be seen skimming across the sea surface. Since the Center is more than 50% Ocean, I feel like this creature is a perfect fit for the map. The oceans are long overdue for an upgrade or a real reason to go out there, and black pearl hunting made easy would make this the perfect reason. The oceans have always been one of my personal favourite aspects of ark, but I always felt like the diversity of creatures was not nearly enough. Please vote for the Hippocampus!!
  6. Introducing, Stupendemys, the ancient snapping turtle that could shed its shell! Origins: Stupendemys was a giant 2 meter long snapping turtle that lived 13 million years ago in lakes rivers, and swamps. They had the strongest bite force of any turtle to ever exist, and had a soft shell, which is unusual. The reason for the soft shell is speculated to be because it sheds its shell every so often to keep it fresh, and supposedly lived like a hermitcrab when its new shell was hardening by inhabiting hollow rocks and waiting for prey. Its extremly flat and streamlined body made it an adept swimmer, and also would differentiate its design from the Carbonemys, which is already in the game. Here is Carlos for scale. Passive Abilities: Being amphibious, it only makes sense that the Stupendemys would be adept at swimming, and rather slow on land. We do not have many strong aquatic choice in aberration besides the sarco and spino, so this would be a welcome addition. Its body is very flat, so it would have a similar mechanic to the sarco where it can be stood on like a raft. A mechanic we do not have on Aberration yet is an immunity to jellyfish and, the Stupendemys would stand out as a top pick for water traversal and bitixon farming by being immune to electrical shocks, similar to the basilosaurus. This would give players a safer mount to enter the jelly and eel infested waters of the blue zone. Here's the big one, and the main mechanic of the creature: By using the radial wheel when dismouted, you would be able to prompt it to shed its shell, giving you shell fragments in return. Its shell will take 30 real life minutes to return, during that time it will take 30% incrased damage but also travel 50% faster in land and water. Shell restoration can be delayed indefinitely by inhabiting a rock, metal node, or crystal of your choice. By riding the Stupendemys and pressing 'X' You would be able to completely hollow out and inhabit your chosen rock, metal node or crystal and take it as your shell. Each of the 4 different shell types would give a unique passive effect that players will be able to utilize. Wild Stupendemys would be able to be randomly disguised as the other 3 shells, but will be most common in the base keratin shell. Keratin Shell - extra 25% damage reduction when retracted (see attacks section), and harvests increased hide and meat from corpses. Crystal - When in the radius of charge light, it refracts off of you in all directions, giving you a massive radius of charge around you. Also makes all charge volumes you are in, including the one generated, to become volatile and slowly damage nameless and reapers. Metal - Would give a passive 20% damage resistance, even when not retracted. also gives you a 50% weight reduction on metal, obsidian, crystal, all 3 gems, and stone. In turn, you can now take damage from jellyfish and eels. Rock - When sprinting, it ramps up in speed like a rhino or dire bear. Attacks: Attack 1 - (LMB) - A non-standard bite attack. The Stupendemys would extend its long neck and snap at prey, biting down and dealing damage. By holding LMB, its jaw would lock and hold itself and the target in place until LMB is released, or 30s passes, in which it would release its prey, dealing another point of damage. The Stupendemys could also release it instantly to do bonus damage. This would add an immobilizing jaw-locking concept that we do not yet have, and makes sense for a snapping turtle. It would be especially useful against dangerous creatures and could allow allies to escape while you hold the attackers at bay. It would also add a fun minigame by landing the bonus damage on perfectly releasing the prey. Attack 2 - (RMB) - Retract into your shell and take 50% reduced damage, also receiving different effects and abilities depending on the type of shell. Keratin - Become immune to fear roars and other similar debuffs such as mammoth roars, carcharo antiheal, etc. Crystal - Shining a charge lantern through a retracted Stupendemys with a crystal shell would refract it into a high-energy laser that can deal heavy damage over time to anything you aim it at, however, it would drain the charge battery heavily and slightly damage the Stupendemys over time. The laser would deal 3X damage to reapers and nameless. Metal - When retracted, all nearby creatures have 30% reduced weight on all items and harvest 50% more resources. Rock - Retract while moving or on a sloped surfaced to slide, moving extremely fast and also damaging and ricocheting off surfaces and creatures you hit. Speed is based on steepness of the slope.
  7. The Urogypi, or more commonly, whip scorpion is a real world arachnid that can be found in the jungles and deserts of South America, North America and parts of Asia. Though they are only the size of your hand in real life, the Urogypi would be heavily upsized, just like the Rhyniognatha. I would imagine it somewhat comparable to the size of a Thorny Dragon or Sarco. Attacks: Primary (LMB, R2) - a standard swipe with its claws that would inflict a debuff, either a Bleed similar to a Deinonychus, or a stamina drain similar to a Kapro. Secondary (RMB, L2) - This attack would use the two "whips", although they are really just long limbs. It would be able to whip dinos to move them, just like a whip. You would also be able to dismount players off of tames, and you would be able to disarm the weapons out of peoples hands. Essentially, it would act as a living whip with no durability and triple the range due to its size. This would make it a very strong (and annoying) dino to go against in PvP, but I feel that it could be countered by riding taller dinos that are taller. Uropygi are quite flat, so its whips wouldn't be able to reach very high, just far. Tertiary (C, R3) - This attack would spit acid that would apply a weakening debuff, causing the effected dino to deal less damage and take much more damage. This would make the creature an invaluable tool for boss fights or countering turret soakers. (Uropygi can actually spit acid that causes irritation as self defense in real life) Quaternary (X, R1) - This attack would consume Silk in the Uropygi's inventory and coat its whips and body in it, giving it a damage reduction and increasing the damage and attack speed of the whips. Since it's part of the arachnid family, it feels right for it to have a mechanic with silk, and we don't have much in the game that deals with attack speed as of yet. Passive Abilities: The Uropygi would be able to generate Silk in its invetory, as arachnids do. You would then consume the silk using your quaternary attack to gain several buffs, or simply take it for crafting or repairing your tools. The Uropygi saddle would act as a crafting bench for lasso's and whips, and would also be able to repair whips using only silk. It only makes sense for the Dino based around whiping to have a lasso, even though it is currently exclusive to the Equus. The Uropygi would also be able to scale walls just like a Megalania, making getting Whip angles much more interesting and just improving its overall traversing aspect, as I would imagine a creature like this would be rather slow (Apologies for the MS paint drawing, i couldn't get the file size requirement to cooperate) Location and Taming: They would be located all over the desert areas of Ragnarok, and also in some of the larger caves. For taming, Something unique but not too crazy (I'm looking at you Amargasaurus). For this creature, you'd need to approach it with a shield to draw its aggro. When it attempts to whip you with its forelegs, you would have to block at just the right moment to parry its attack, stunning it for a few moments. This will give you enough time to approach its mouth and feed it spoiled meat, or its preferred food, sap. (sap a major part of the diet of real world Uropygi. Overall, I feel like a creature like this would fill a very specific niche that no creature currently has, and it would be an invaluable tool for bossfights as well as disarming and disrupting your foes in PvP. Thanks for reading if you made it this far, be sure to upvote!~
