  1. Hey Survivors! As previously announced yesterday ARK: Survival Evolved will be hitting Xbox One this fall! It's official release date will be the 16th of December 2015. The Xbox One version of the game will contain: - All game content currently in the PC build, this is 3x the amount of gameplay that existed at the original Steam Launch! - It will also include an Exclusive bionic "Tek" T-Rex Skin, Safari Hat, and Survivor's Trophy. - You'll have free access to Xbox-Specific ARK Official Servers - We'll be continuously updating the game prior to full launch in 2016 - Tailor made for Xbox One gamepad controls! But that's not all, we'd also like to announce a special contest! Along with the Xbox One announcement, we released a new trailer! We want you survivors to tell us each and every dinosaur or creature you see in the trailer! You can send in your answers to: contest@studiowildcard.com The first 5 emails with all the correct answers will be given an ARK-Prize Pack featuring; - An ARK T Shirt - An ARK Poster - An ARK Xbox One Game Code when it launches! The contest is open to all survivors world-wide and will end when we have 5 winners or by 4PM EST on the 15th of December 2016, in which the next-closest answers will be selected! Good luck everyone!
  2. Greetings Survivors! We’re very excited to announce that we’re ready to start opening up the new ARK Community Hub. We’ve been working hard on the Hub in order to bring our awesome Community and Game platform agnostic home where we can better communicate, interact and meet your needs. www.survivetheark.com Due to the immense and continued growth of our community, our need for a central platform to discuss and interact with one another is highly important. We want to ensure that we maintain our promise of constantly iterating alongside your feedback, listening to your suggestions, hearing out your concerns, sharing your content, and working together as a team to create both a better game and a better community! Something to keep in mind is that the new forums are still in their early days. We’ve added a lot of functionality thus far, but as the game continues to grow and we have more time to spend on it, we plan to improve it a lot further and add a lot more. Here are some of the features you can expect to see with the new forum; Forums With the launch of the Community Hub, we’ll be having a much larger forum which will have platform specific and game-mode specific sections to make discussion a lot easier to keep up with and relevant. We found that with the current boards, often threads were being buried due to the limited sections available for posting, and that other sections weren’t getting as much attention because they weren’t shown as predominantly when on the site. With our new forum, you’ll be able to see all the sections and hide the ones which are irrelevant to you as you please. They are more structured so that it’s a lot easier to find something that you want to read about or talk about. You’ll also be able to keep track of the latest discussions, shared content, and other neat tidbits such as knowing instantly when we start broadcasting live on our Twitch Channel! Gallery Something incredibly important to us was seeing the amazing content you guys create, seeing you share your experience and joy in game with one another as well as with us! This is why one of the first features that we created for our hub was the ability for survivors to create their own ARK picture and video galleries (soon™)! Platform Integration We understand that many of you will be playing ARK from all sorts of different places, some of you survivors will be on the PC, others on the Xbox, and some on the Playstation. Due to this we wanted to ensure that we could fully integrate as many of those platforms as possible into our hub. Initially we will be launching with Steam integration, so you’ll be able to find your friends and keep up with their steam changes via their new profiles! As we get further along in our development process, we’ll also be integrating as many other ARK platforms as possible. Support & Getting Involved We realize a major concern that has been identified with ARK was getting in touch with us. Due to this, in our new community hub we have incorporated a form system. This will give survivors the opportunity to contact us directly regarding support issues, reporting a player, and even application and eligibility for testing builds early! It’s still a work in progress and there’s a lot more we aim to do with it, however the basic functionality exists now and it will definitely be a lot easier for us to keep track of issues and reports, as well as for you to get in touch with us. Something we have consistently made a high priority for ARK is the absolute destruction of cheaters. This is something that will never change, we are going to continuously iterate on our in-game defenses against them, as well as work on new things with other industry leaders to stop cheaters. We don’t like them, you don’t like them - we want it to stop. Taking this into account, you guys won’t have to worry about any hackers being present on our Community Hub as our VAC-linked system will track anyone with a VAC ban and then automatically and permanently ban them from accessing the hub. We will also be taking steps in game to further recruit more GMs to assist us with overseeing the game and keeping the peace. Profile Page Who you are matters. On our new hub, each member won’t just be a name. Our profile pages will enable you to create an identity. You will have the ability to customize your profile, with images, signatures and earn achievements and badges. We want to know more about our community and the best way to do that is giving you as much opportunity to express yourself as possible. With our profile pages you will also be able to register different platforms (currently limited to Steam), so you’ll be able to instantly find one another, as well as check out the other games that your friends are currently playing! -- Though don’t worry, if you’re the bashful type then you’ll be able to keep all that information private from other survivors! You can also make use of the extended post information to keep track of your own, your friends, and developer topics and posts! Announcements Similarly to the Steam Forum, we will also have our own Announcements that will be visually featured on our main-site and Community Hub! You’ll be able to leave comments and stay up to date on all of ARKs latest news! Calendar Keep up to date with our upcoming events with our Calendar feature! This will show survivors, in incredible detail, when an event is taking place, as well as include other useful information such as relevant threads, images, and the option to let us know what you think about the event. You’re able to leave comments, reviews, follow, and this is something we encourage you to do as the more feedback we receive, the more we will know about bettering our events in order to ensure that our community is having a fantastic experience. Steam Forums Don’t worry Steam users! We aren’t abandoning you! We will still be active on the Steam boards to ensure that the latest patch-notes are up to date, as well as our latest news and information is always posted and available for you to check out. We will be moving over our community-posts to the new hub though, including the ARK Digest and the Community Crunch! However we do encourage you to join our new Community Hub and make full use of it! As our developers and forum moderators will be actively discussing on the new boards, as well as using it as the primary place for reading your reports, concerns and suggestions - so please do join us! ARK Community Hub - www.SurviveTheArk.com Thank you guys! All the best and we’ll see you on the Hub ;)! Wildcard Jat & the ARK Survival Evolved Team!
  3. Dino Dossier Common Name: Megalania Species: Megalania Muruspede Time: Late Holocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild Megalania Muruspede is among the largest creatures found throughout the island’s complicated cave networks. Reaching up to three meters long, it can traverse vertically up the cave walls with little difficulty, using its claws as iron-strength grips. Fortunately, Megalania’s size means it is unlikely to sneak up on anyone. Unfortunately for spelunkers, it is an aggressive and dangerous creature nonetheless. Like other Varanidae, Megalania is a venomous creature.. Its poison is slow-acting, but will drain the victim’s effective strength and health until death unless cured by a rare antidote. That said, the Megalania’s prey are usually ripped apart well before they succumb to the poison’s long-term effects. Domesticated The extremely rare ability of Megalania to effortlessly climb walls makes it a highly sought after mount. While it is by no means the fastest, strongest, or toughest mount -- the way it can effortlessly climb in the caves and scale mountains means it will always have a place in any advanced tribe’s stables.
  4. Despite being a carnivore, Oviraptor’s primary source of food is eggs, which it steals from nests. Unlike any other creature, Oviraptor seems to be able to surreptitiously steal these eggs usually without attracting the attention of an irate mother. In an incredible feat of natural selection, Oviraptor seems to emit a chemical pheromone that affects many creatures as an aphrodisiac. Mated creatures are much more likely to… “create” new fertilized eggs while Oviraptor is around, which allows the Oviraptor to go about its business unperturbed. They also make quite adorable sounds, so many children simply like to keep them as rather strange companions. ARK v226 also adds the Ghillie Suit armor set for camouflaged stealth against Dinos and Survivors, the Industrial Oven which enables cooking food on a large scale for an entire Tribe’s army, a Table furniture item upon which small structures can be placed, a Modern Bunk-Bed for faster respawning, plus various optimizations and balancing improvements! Also ARK’s special holiday sale is coming to a close, so if you haven’t picked up the game yet, you’ve still got time to head to the Steam Autumn Sale where ARK: Survival Evolved is discounted at 40% off! http://store.steampowered.com/app/346110
  5. Dino Dossier Common Name: Hyaenodon Species: Hyaenodon Dirus Time: Late Eocene - Early Miocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Opportunistic Wild Among the Island’s tenacious pack hunters is Hyaenodon Dirus, a carnivore most often found across the mountains and tundras, in packs of 3 to 5. The Hyaenodon is a very intelligent predator: before engaging, it determines if the payoff for a fight is worth the risk of injury. Hyaenodon often prefer not to fight unless there is already weakened prey nearby, or a fresh carcass. This temperament changes quickly, thought, near the presence of injured or dying creatures. Hyaenodon quickly becomes very aggressive, and the pack attacks with ruthless abandon. With each vicious chomp of scavenged meat, the Hyaenodon rapidly recovers health and stamina. Domesticated Despite being too small to ride, Hyaenodon are still popular pets. Their intelligence means they train well, and their natural pack strength makes them excellent hunting dogs. Their capability to quickly recover health by consuming raw flesh off the bone ensures they can take much punishment and yet continue fighting. A common (and terrifying) sight on the tundra is a rider on a canis with a pack of Hyaenodon at it’s side, howls and jeers echoing through the night.
  6. Survivors are now given the opportunity to participate in the turkey-hunt of their lives! With this limited time Thanksgiving event running from today, Wednesday, November 25 through Tuesday, December 1st. The ARK: Turkey Trial will throw survivors into a large-scale scavenger hunt and allow them to carve up the rare “Super-Turkeys” unleashed across the ARK! By harvesting sufficient Super Turkey Wishbones from these bloodthirsty, genetically-modified creatures, players can craft their very own stylish "Chieftain" Hat, or choose to summon the devastating DodoRex creature to do their bidding for a limited period of time. Also during this special holiday period, head to the Steam Autumn Sale where ARK: Survival Evolved will be discounted at 40% off! So, go forth Survivors, and hunt down those Turkeys and have a Happy Thanksgiving! http://store.steampowered.com/app/346110
  7. Dino Dossier Common Name: Woolly Rhino Species: Coelodonta Utiliserro Time: Late Pliocene - Late Pleistocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Friendly Wild Coelodonta Utiliserro is a friendly herbivore, common to the tundra and grassland regions of the island. It is a large and dangerous creature, though it seems fairly trusting of the fauna around it. Once attacked, Coelodonta charges towards its foe. It builds up momentum as it charges, and depending on its ultimate impact speed, the results can be terrifying. With enough room to charge, it can even skewer the largest creatures in just one single gore! Despite how powerful Coelodonta are, many tribes still hunt them extensively due to their unique resources. Its horns can be ground into a highly arousing powder, and its thick fur can support many insulating outfits, making the Coelodonta much in demand. Even less advanced tribes use packs to hunt them down, though at significant peril. Domesticated When not being hunted for its horns, Coelodonta makes an excellent beast of burden. Its ability to take on far larger opponents provided sufficient sizeable load capacity, make it a solid addition to any trader party or gathering expedition.
  8. While the Compsognathus is one of the of the smallest predators on the island, ARK Survivors should pay close attention to its behavior, movements, and numbers. Alone, Compys are unafraid of humans and are neither dangerous nor aggressive which makes it an ideal pet that is curious and attentive to human endeavors and their tools. In larger packs, however, the diminutive little creature remembers its carnivorous nature. When a group of Compsognathus congregate, they intuitively transform into an aggressive, carnivorous pack. Their distress call carries quite far, rapidly alerting the tribe and its pets to danger more efficiently, which also increases the likelihood of a few Compys quickly forming into a 'Compy Gang.’ ARK v224 also adds a powerful high-tech Rocket Turret, homing Sea Mines to aid in water defense, Wall Lamps to light up your ARK home in an aesthetically pleasing manner, persistent Tribe Logs for players to track and monitor their Tribe’s activities and events when they were offline, and a new system for Survivors to design and craft their own unique food and drink recipes -- so “Bob’s Bronto Burgers” can now open up for business!

Thanks for joining us! Do you think you could introduce yourself to the community, and let us know about the mods you're currently working on? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=558491533 I noticed in the description for the mod you’ve stated that the Royal Engineer is ready to put his knowledge to work, for the survivor. This led me to think there’s more to this mod than first appears? What was your aim in creating the Advanced Architecture Mod? Were you inspired by anything which led you to create the mod? Also let us know more about the RPG elements! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I read that lore piece, what are you planning to incorporate? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=540587147 I think you’ve done a pretty good job of making your desires come to reality! Tell us more about the actual structure pieces, were any of them created by yourself? How do you know which particular items to implement and what are the long term plans for the future of the mod? Wow, all of them? That’s awesome! I’ve noticed you’ve got some pretty complicated pieces in here too, such as the drawbridge -- can you tell us, was it difficult to implement? Are there any pieces apart from the bridge that you found to be pretty rough, or are working on anything extraordinary for the mod that isn’t a structure piece but pretty tough to achieve? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=524782724 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=551113672 That’s awesome that you’re able to bring your real-life career experience into your mod and allow it to benefit you in a way to make these structural pieces! We really appreciate it and thank you once again for this very detailed interview, keep up the great work with your mod! Is there anything you’d like to say before we wrap it up? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=524366665 That’s it for this week’s Crunch guys! As always if you’ve got anything to share please get in touch and be sure to follow us on Twitter at @survivetheark, Facebook at www.facebook.com/survivetheark and Reddit at www.reddit.com/r/playark Thanks everyone! 10. Dino Dossier Common Name: Leedsichthys Species: Leedsichthys Conviviumbrosia Time: Mid-Jurassic Diet: Piscivore Temperament: Defensive Wild Leedsichthys Conviviumbrosia is probably the largest fish in the waters around the island. Its meant is also extremely succulent, a surprise given its size. It is often traded with the same value as Prime Meat, and colloquially called ‘Prime Fish’. Of course, not all of Leedsichthys’ meat is this high quality but most of it is! While the demand for Leedsichthys meat is high, the fish is notoriously difficult to track and hunt. Between its large size, powerful attacks, incredible speed (when it turns to flee), and humankind’s general ineptitude on open water, actually killing a Leedsichthys is one of the island’s more difficult tasks. The hunt for an extremely elusive breed of the fish, the fabled ‘Great Albino’ Leedsichthys has been known to drive otherwise-sensible men and women mad with obsession, as if all evil were visibly personified and made practically assailable in this one creature. Domesticated Despite its large size, and the fact that it may well be strong enough to carry heavy loads, Leedsichthys does not appear to be intelligent enough to tame. Nevertheless, some large tribes keep an enormous pen with a few Leedsichthys trapped inside for cultivating purposes, as bits of prime fish can be repeatedly scraped off the gargantuan beast without killing it.
  11. Like typical Anglerfish, the Melanocetus primarily uses its bioluminescent light pods to attract smaller fish and trick them into coming close enough for it to consume the prey. This often makes wild Melanocetus itself relatively easy to spot among the briny depths. Whether its size is caused by adaptation to the island's other inhabitants, or by cross-breeding with another larger species, Melanocetus Anglerpescum is one of the largest form of Anglerfish. Additionally, a tamed Anglerfish can use the natural light at the end of its stalks to illuminate the depths for safe exploration, and the luminescent nodules can be harvested to create long-lasting fuel and organic light emplacements for surface homes, too. The Kairuku Waitaki, on the other hand, is an amazingly docile and friendly creature. Kairuku are useless in a fight, but they nonetheless are tamed for their cuteness and friendly nature, kind of like a pet, and the incidentally cool fact that their bodies run extremely hot. Survival Tip! Standing near Kairuku can help keep a survivor warm through long, harsh nights on the icebergs. The Kairuku’s only defensive trait: Suspended in Kairuku’s blubber are small, dense particles that act as a light form of armor. Adding to Kairuku's problems, a clever survivor discovered that refining Kairuku blubber can yield a natural form of the same polymer used in advanced tribes' manufacturing processes. This has caused many tribes to hunt Kairuku extensively, especially the blubber-rich infants, a practice colloquially known as "Kairu Clubbing." Furthermore, in this update, the new “Tribal Warfare Alliance” system allows Tribes to formally declare war against each other for specific mutually agreed-upon timeframes, encouraging large-scale set player-vs-player confrontations rather than offline raiding! Survivors will also find a realistic Creature "Fur" pass, primitive siege Catapult and a modern-tier Gatling Gun Turret to defend their homes with! Midweek Madness! For those of you who have yet to visit the island, you can start your epic adventure with ARK: Survival Evolved during our limited-time sale through now until the 16th of November on Steam for $19.99! That’s a 33% discount off the regular game!
  12. While greater in size than most large predators, the Giganotosaurus is sometimes less dangerous when encountered in the wild, due to its sluggish speed. Even still, getting trapped or chased down by a Giganotosaurus often means certain death for nearly any creature. Taming a Giganotosaurus is a dangerous prospect. Its rage reaction, even when tamed, can sometimes cause it to briefly turn on members of its own tribe. Indeed it may even throw off its rider if it has been sufficiently angered! And yet, the sheer size and immense power that the Giganotosaurus possesses means that some factions endeavor to tame it as a fear-inducing "capital" beast of war -- even at great risk! Fighting a Giganotosaurus directly is always a bad idea, as its rage rapidly grows with every hit it takes. With this rage, it builds increasing reserves of energy to use, making its iron-jawed bites progressively more deadly and enhancing its stamina.
  13. Dino Dossier Common Name: Troodon Species: Troodon Magnanimus Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Nocturnally Aggressive Wild: Quite possibly the most intelligent non-human creature on the island, Troodon Magnanimus is an incredibly fast learner. It understands meaningful experiences much more quickly than other creatures (including humans), and its social nature means it also teaches its packmates, making them more clever too. If Troodon’s cleverness didn’t make it formidable, than its tactics and biology do. It specifically pack-hunts at night when we are most vulnerable, and sees humans as its primary prey. This audacity is made especially dangerous due to its serrated fangs’ poison, which drains stamina from any creature, but outright paralyses humans. Thankfully, Troodon is fairly small. Were it larger, it might well have become the dominant creature of its ecosystem. Domesticated: I thought Troodon simply could not be tamed, until I finally saw a lone survivor with one. She told me that she let “Troody” hunt a few of her tribe’s smaller creatures for sport, and it eventually started following her everywhere. It seems that while Troodon is too intelligent to fall for the rote conditioning of ‘tranq-and-feed’, it can instead gradually gain loyalty from a social approach that provides it the opportunity to hunt. Ever since, I have wondered at the benefits that a pack of ultra-smart, bred-for-battle Troodon may bring to a tribe brave enough to earn the favor of these clever carnivores.
  14. Hey Survivors! What an intense several weeks it has been! We’ve all been through a rollercoaster of emotions over the Survival of the Fittest: The Last Stand series, with a ton of fights, tears, tames, deaths and an outrageous number of poo-flinging monkeys! For those of you who didn’t have a chance to catch The Last Stand: Final Round - you can watch the full VOD here; or check out your favourite streamers most recent broadcasts, as they may have casted their POV! Without further ado, we’re proud to announce the end of the Last Stand series and winners of the last championship, The Last Stand: Final Round! So let’s congratulate our winners and all of the contestants for putting up a very great competitive showing! And let’s not forget the other rounds that took place! There were many survivors who invested a lot of time and energy into playing these high-stress, high-value, high-pressure games. Here are our victors throughout the tournament! Now don’t sweat, we’ve still got loads planned for Survival of the Fittest! We’re picking up a core-development team to focus solely on this mode, so they can expand it and take it to the level that it needs to be! And we aren’t finished yet for this year, we’re planning something huge and special for around Christmas, unlike any match that has come before - so stay tuned! Extra Life Incredible -- the only word which can justify what happened! Following the SoTF Tournament, we went live with our marathon ExtraLife stream with our excellent hosts, CannibalQueen2107 aka Erin and Forest Rapzack! In 24 hours, the wonderful ARK: Survival Evolved community donated over $23,500 for the keeedzz! Every ARK Survivor should be very proud, congratulations There was a ton of fun with a number of games including; "Tennis Ball Headsock Challenge w/ ARK Cosplayers", "Narcoberry Eating Contest", "Wild West Nerf Gun Duel", "Red Bull Flip Cup", "Chubby Bunny", "T-Rex Arms Cup Stacking", as well a lot of sneak-peeks and teasers for upcoming ARK content! If you didn’t tune into the marathon, but want to catch the vods you can do so here! ExtraLife Part 1 ExtraLife Part 2 And it’s still not too late to offer some support for ExtraLife! If you’d like to donate to the cause, just click here and follow the steps! Thank you everyone for tuning into the stream and for all the support you’ve shown so far! We truly appreciate it and we’re so grateful for having such a caring community! All the best, Wildcard Jat & The ARK Survival Evolved Team #FORTHEKEEEDZZ
