  1. SP, The island Nothing too exciting but yesterday I didn’t feel like doing anything adventurous or dangerous so I thought “one day, I’ll need a ton of metal for saddles and ammo”. Got 5k on my Argys and brought it back home from my volcano forge outpost. Not a ton, but something to get started with. I like being at the volcano for obvious reasons, but I’ve had a hard time harvesting efficiently enough with my anky so I’ve resorted back to just doing it by hand and dumping on the argy. Thanks for doing that leg work for me! I play on reduced difficulty so I agree, I likely won’t see one amongst the water jar bp’s I get on the surface. That set of caves you mentioned consists of my last 4 caves to explore so I’m excited to see if I can get anything. @Cymas I’m the island version of you right now, well over 400 days in. I can’t wait to move on
  2. SP, Island Not much to report today, I haven’t had time to start breeding ‘cause I only had an hour here and there to play. I got all the mats to make like 20 cryopods minus the polymer, flew it to blue Ob and stored the mats in it, flew down to the floating icebergs to say hi to some penguins with my sword and dumped all that polymer into the Obas well. Took said cryopods, stored most and used the rest to cryo all my Argys. Now I’m at my volcano forge outpost with a pile of Argys, planning to bring a bunch of metal back to base (I need more guns and ammunition). I’ve also been adding creature comforts to the outpost like a generator, fridge and industrial grill. It seconds as a good taming outpost for that side of the map as well. I think I might have conquered another cave since I last posted, too, bringing new up to 6 total now. Beach bobbing feels so long ago now...
  3. I do not have a good BP. Which cave would you farm for drops?
  4. SP, The island Made huge advances in my quest to finish the first story ark. Still a long way to go, but it’s been a while since I made this much progress. My husband went away for 9 days for work, I don’t think I’ve ever played so much in such a short time. It was truly a nice time. I’ll summarize my activities in a list, because if I wrote it in story mode it would be way too long. - Tamed a pair of beautiful Theris (max level for my difficulty setting). These will be my boss army breeders. I have yet to really get balls-deep into breeding, but there’s enough YouTube videos out there to help me stack mutations. I tamed both of them directly in front of one of my remote outposts near the southern islets, couldn’t have been a more comfortable tame process! - Completed 3 more caves, now I have 5 artifacts in total. I had some drama in the upper south cave, when going to grapple across the water to the artifact hallway, I accidentally shot way off and ended up in a cluster of Onyc. I lost my otter and my stuff. Instead of being discouraged, I went and tamed another otter, made more gear, found my bary in the cave, killed the bats and got my stuff (and the artifact, of course!). - Got a female Bary to breed with my current caving Bary, in case I lose another one. This way I’ll have spares! Tamed her in the exact same spot as the theris! - I had issues in the Northwest cave (skylord). The artifact wasn’t there (I was expecting that) but then I got attacked by some Onyc and ran towards the entrance until I died. No worries, I was just a few steps from my bed and storage boxes. But - when I went to go get my corpse, it had fallen thru the world and I couldn’t get to it. I’ve been playing as vanilla as humanly possible, but this was a game error and normally I’d be able to get my stuff back. So, I spawn it all in using gfi codes 😕 not too happy about that but I feel I was justified. - Expanded my very primitive kitchen and workshop, opened it right up and put greenhouse walls on one side so I could overlook my pond when I’m crafting. my base is at hidden lake, house is built into the side of the cliffs so it’s really scenic. Low-level me picked well, I would use this spot again. I think I’m gonna have to do some research before I attempt any new adventures. Or, maybe I’ll get into my theri breeding. I’m just dreading the countless hours of waiting, hatching and imprinting. (Any tips on how to best spend my time inbetween these activities? Do you guys just craft stuff or watch tv while you wait?) thats all for now, looking forward to any suggestions if you have any!
  5. SP, The island I got so much done yesterday... wow. I’m not even sure where to start! I think last time I posted I was starting my volcano outpost. It took me a lot of grinding but I finally went from a tiny wooden shack to a beautiful stone and greenhouse hangout. I crafted my first ever industrial forge, and that’s where it lives. The greenhouse panels allow for a wicked view of the whole map and makes hanging out at the volcano pretty enjoyable. After bringing back all my building dinos to my main base in Hidden Lake, I went about getting stuff together for an industrial cooker. I got that thing crafted up and now I can make kibble super fast, it’s so nice!! Not to mention, I had lots of fun trying to get that thing irrigated 😅. After that I went and got my first ever achatina. well actually, got 2. Very excited to have cementing paste on demand. my to-do list for my next login consists of lots of taming and getting ready for the next cave!
  6. SP, The Island, Great start to my kibble farm! Wow, this must be the easiest task I’ve done in a while. I needed that, too, because I’d suffered a few major losses in the recent past. Today I Got a male iguanodon and 4 females. I have lots of advanced crops saved up, and got 2 high(ish) level females so if I ever need to I can ride one. I have a comfy outpost at the red ob which was perfect for this. I then got a pair of oviraptors to I guess... set the mood. Ive already got a whack of argys and argy Eggs so I’ve got superior kibble covered. Next, I’m getting theris to both serve as my boss army as well as exceptional kibble egg layers. Now if I can just stop dying and losing dinos, things will be okay 😁
  7. Nice! Everyone’s been up to quite a bit since I last checked. I love it, since I read the forums on days that I can’t play so I get my fill of ARK-ness. SP, Island After the death of my caving bary, I decided to take a step back. Here I am trying to start my boss army when I don’t even have proper kibble to tame anything or haven’t built the latest technology to craft more effeciently. I’ve been trying to rush my way to a broodmother army because I’m excited, but obviously having already cut some corners. SO... I’ve committed myself to starting a proper kibble farm. I lose a lot of tames because I have to keep it safe for 2Hrs while it eats whatever terrible taming food I brought. No wonder I haven’t got that far into breeding yet! I’ve made it such a chore. I’m currently looking for all the low lvl female Iguanodons for medium eggs. I think they’re the only ones of that size that can get both picked up by the argy as well as bola’d, making it the easiest to tame in my mind. I’ve got a pair so far so I can get the mate boost, so now I just need a small herd of females and an oviraptor. Oh also, I’m pretty bad at video games in general so when I started playing back in January, I brought the difficulty level way down. I felt I was ready to take on more danger so I brought it back up a bit. Getting better loot is pretty nice although I’m getting pretty nervous about fighting things now.
  8. SP, The Island Bear with me here. My gameplay had been riddled with heartbreaking loss lately. After a dino death it’s hard to stay positive in order to fix whatever just happened. In my last episode, I explained how I was levelling my caving bary while looking for my first basilo to tame. I spent quite a few days doing this without any real drama. Betty (the bary) had gotten pretty strong and I was starting to feel really good about caving with her after the basilo was found. We would get overburdened with good resources/loot, ditch it onto the argy nearby and go out for more adventuring... so fun! I saw my first Leeds from the perspective of someone NOT on a raft 🤣😂 and also my first mosa and plesi. Got chased by a plesi, lol. I know what these look like already but it’s always cool when you find a new dino in the wild. Then, as always, my own recklessness cost the team one of its MVPs. I was fighting an alpha megalodon amongst a few other things when the jellyfish started to come in. I did a stun attack in order to get all the stun-able creatures but it also gave the getaway a bit of a delay and the jellyfish struck. I had been pretty good up until now, but I let them get just that extra little bit closer and it was all over. I lost Betty and a single empty crypod, amongst other items not worth mentioning. this was almost as bad as when I let Zero (argy) die in the mountains because I wasn’t keeping an eye on stam. Oh it hurts so much when it’s your own fault! 😂 I am now back at my Redwoods outpost so I can find another bary 🙄 constantly 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Such is the life of an ARK player. I did feel like I had unfinished business in this area anyway, Betty (bless her soul) was never a good level to begin with so now I have the opportunity to look for the perfect one. In this episode I learned to look for silver linings.
  9. SP, Island So I took DodoRaptor’s advice and went to herb island to look for basilos. I happen to have an outpost there already which made things more comfortable.I’ve seen tons of the whales, but all very low levels. I keep clearing the spawns but still only low levels replace them. Oh well! I’m confident I’ll find a good one soon. The process is also good for levelling my bary, which will be a caving tame once it’s bit stronger. At night I’ve just been upgrading the outpost and putting all the day’s loot into my argent along with any broken scuba tanks. the search continues!
  10. SP, The island After taming a pair of ovis this weekend, I finally got to the point where I have to start going into the water. I’ve been avoiding this part of the game entirely so far since a lot of bad stuff lives in the ocean, but I need the underwater artifacts. I used the SCUBA gear for the first time while riding my bary, that’s actually pretty fun! Still getting used to navigating underwater though. I’m looking to tame a good basilo for the water caves. I didn’t realize that cryopods and cryofridges were things I was able to craft outside of a Tek replicator. I’m not sure why, I just never looked it up and assumed it would be a tek engram I’d learn after beating a boss. So, I grabbed my best argy and some mats, went to the blue ob and made myself a cryofridge and like 6 pods to go with it. I feel this technology is way too OP for my rookie style of gameplay but it’ll make the taming and movement of my boss-fighting army a lot easier, that’s for sure. I definitely do feel like my character is at a higher level than it should be. I just got wrecked soo often in the early days that I had to rebuild my “first base” 12 times and ended up with a lot of crafting xp. Oh well - not a bad problem to have 😉 I also made a few resource runs for obsidian, metal and crystal. I like that I had the foresight so build my endgame base near valuable materials. Now, back into the water for the basilo hunt..
  11. SP, Island I did so much over the weekend, I’m really happy. After my drama trying to tame a queen bee, I was happy to do some grinding around the base and just chill, make quality of life adjustments. During the day I’ve been hunting for Ovis in their spawn areas but I’ve only ever seen one in my entire time on this map. It’s getting to be a pretty frustrating search. At night I got busy hatching the argent eggs clogging up my fridge, patched a pesky hole in my house, crafted my first ever industrial grill (how have I lived this long without it?), expanded my artifact display and my workshop, and made some veggie cakes so I’m ready for whenever I get an Ovis. I wish they weren’t so rare on this map.
  12. I finally did it! I finally got a queen bee. Well, two of them. (SP, the island) ive been camped out on my tree platform in the redwoods for what seems like forever. At first I was looking for a good direbear and then I went looking for a queen bee so I could get a hive for my base. That so far has been the longest and most gruelling project I’ve undertaken so far in my gameplay. I lost so many direbears in the pen or on my way back to base until I finally managed to protect one well enough to make it back. Then, finding a bee hive that wasn’t empty was another huge challenge. I built I-don’t-know how many ramps to find out it was empty or it wasn’t and I accidentally killed the queen. When I learned how to stop killing the queen, I couldn’t get her to eat my rare flowers. Ouch. What a grind! I’m happy to be back at base (hidden lake) and just be doing resource runs for a while with no drama ? next up is taming a few ovis and theris now that I can make veggie cakes!! I’m excited for this next step.
  13. Great posts lately, I’ve really enjoyed reading about everyone’s adventures. I didn’t do much today because I only had less than an hour to get something done. But, I figured some ark time is better than no ark time. I’m camped out in the redwoods atm on a tree platform and this morning I went hunting for a good direbear to tame for easy honey collection. I went out for a quick scouting run, got a few supply drops, killed some dinos to encourage bear spawns and cooked up some meat. not crazy productive, but also nothing bad happened. I consider that a win!
  14. That is not a dino would’ve thought I would get as a suggestion. Interesting. Aren’t they a pain to tame? I remember getting my first one and being like... never again. hope you enjoyed your hiking ?
  15. Hey all! I’m finally at the point where I can install electrical cables around the base and I have enough gasoline to power everything. I figured I’d better get a grid first, THEN go look for honey ‘cause it spoils so fast. I’m a few checklist items away , but I’m starting preparations for the broodmother. Can’t decide if I want to go with rex’s or not. I’m hoping to only need one core team to do all the bosses and eventually overseer, which is why I’m thinking rex’s. Lemme know what you guys think. other than that, I got myself my third otter (RIP, “Otter” and “Deadpool”) cause they keep dying in caves ? next up for me when I log in next is finishing my electrical grid so I can get my fridge working, then go tame a queen bee. Can’t wait for the adventure that’s gonna be.
  16. After my drama in the lava cave, I decided maybe it was time to set aside all the dangerous tasks for a while and do some grinding. I made a bunch of gasoline to power my generator for the first time ? we’re steeping out of the stone ages over here! I also made: a tree sap station, a few more sets of ghillie (‘cause I keep dying and losing it all), an otter-taming pen (‘cause trying to find the little guy to feed it is infuriating to say the least), made a full set of SCUBA armour and extra tanks, and went grinding for basic resources so I could fill my storage chests for future building/crafting needs. I needed a break from caving, but I still need to go back and get my lonely, loyal dire wolf that’s been waiting for me at the artifact on passive (I died in the lava).
  17. So I just attempted the lava cave for the first time with my brand new saber. I wish I had practised killing stuff with it before - cause we got totally s*** rocked by the very first onycs. I wasn’t used to shooting from a riding position ( I usually use flyers) and couldn’t get out of the seated weapon view (Xbox). Lost my saber, otter and all my stuff due to my own stupitidy. Such a hard pill to swallow! Tried to go back for my gear and the saddle but I died again and decided to abandon. im on a mission, though, and I’ll be back with my better dire wolf and better weapons.
  18. I finally found a good saber for the lava cave ? so I got my otter and supplies and staged myself near the lava cave entrance, ready for my next login. Oo! And I made a nice display inside my house for all the artifacts, made an extra pedestal for the future lava cave artifact. if any of you have the time, can you throw up some pics of how you’ve got your artifact pedestals laid out? I’m interested to see how everybody else displays these ?
  19. I’m definitely not as far into the game as you all are, holy cow! I had a quick 2Hrs free yesterday so I built a taming pen raft for my caving saber search. My base is at Hidden Lake so carno island is pretty closeby. I sailed the raft to the island and began searching. Looots of sabers of course, but all low levels. Kill, harvest, repeat to get fresh spawns. The only half-decent-level saber I found got accidentally eaten... I dropped it in the water when trying for the taming pen and it swam back to shore - straight into a high lvl Rex ?. the search continues..
  20. Thanks for the tip. I was planning on bringing foundations for a little bit so now I’ll just bring a few extra. I went saber hunting last night but couldn’t find a high level. Killed all the lesser ones. Sunday I should have time to find one and run the cave. I’ll let you guys know how I do..
  21. Yesterday, I ran the lower south cave (super easy) with my megatherium and otter on my shoulder. I made out with 3 artifacts, simply got bored of standing around and waiting for it to respawn. I only need 1 for broodmother but I wanted extra. next login, I want to chase down a good saber to tame so I can run the lava cave with it and the otter. I’ve read the wiki and the forums but if you have any additional tips and tricks, I’m all ears!
  22. Last time I logged in, I was in a bit of a rush because I had to go back to work and ended up dying and losing my best ptera in a series of unfortunate events in the snow Biome. When I went back with my least favourite argy, I had to fight off a kapro, purlovia and alpha carno. I quickly hopped off the argy and grabbed the stuff from my corpse, and landed on a tall iceberg to recharge stam and let me lower my heart rate from all the excitement. i guess I was out of practice, or just not paying attention, but I ended up dumping all my fur armour into the water instead of equipping it (pressing the wrong Xbox button). So today I spent my time repenting for my sins by hunting down pelt-dropping dinos and making the armour again. I need a pelt farm, that’s my next task.
  23. This weekend, I’ve been on a mission to tame, harvest or craft anything I need to start trying the boss fights. Now I see why silica pearls and obsidian are so important ? I finally tamed an otter for carrying artifacts!!I didn’t realize how small they were in the water so I spent a lot of time hovering way too high above the water to see them. I must’ve flown over lots of them without knowing. When I did finally see one (also my first time seeing one in the game), I just plucked it out of the water with my argy and flew it back to my hidden lake base to tame it there safely. I also set up a crafting station on top of the volcano and got my first theri so I can start making the right kibble for my next tames. oh, I got a baryonyx too! I’m basically approaching my end game time just like how Syntac does in his series about the island. I’m using it like a guide. My goal is to get to SE the “proper” way. Doing all of this on single player is a bit of a challenge, I’m not gonna lie. That and I’m not the worlds greatest gamer, I have the difficulty turned down but I still die all the time. #bunkbeds
  24. When I used the destroy wild dinos command, I travelled around all the spawn points for the next few (real, not in-game) hours. I read in another thread that a giga takes 24Hrs to spawn in after using that code, not sure if that’s true or not. That certainly made me lean towards spawning one in, that plus the fact that I couldn’t find any Gigas or titans for the entire time I’ve been on the island (I’m lvl 98 now). I guess I just figured that Dino’s spawn In the queue was “broken” somehow. I don’t like the idea of spawning things in at all, so I’ll be happy to use the getallstate command to try and find one naturally - so thanks for the code! That exactly what I want the dino for - farming giga hearts once I can get 2. I am also watching Syntac’s videos of soloing the island, and that’s what got me thinking I could maybe defeat the bosses solo. I like the fact that he had the timer in the tek cave, to me it made it more challenging and realistic to what I’m going to encounter.
