I have not played classic pvp yet but I will soon... I have played solo on official forever and the recommendations I have to keep Ark truly classic and more importantly enjoyable and balanced I would say remove OP BLUEPRINTS, OP saddles, OP armor and OP weapons should all be primitive. To keep a true balance the only thing that should matter in those items is durability not armor and damage as that makes tribes and tames OP eliminating the need for actual skill. Realistically weapons are only made of better quality enhancing durability not increased damage, that is the type of bullet used, so maybe introduce different types of ammo and keep weapons primitive. New dinos and items are great but OP BLUEPRINTS and OP crafting is what makes players and tames more invincible and dont allow for a fair or event decent fight putting the game further from the classic gameplay many had previously enjoyed. Breeding and imprinting seems to have gotten out of hand also, there should be a cap on stats just as there is a cap on levels.
