Wild
Solitary and skittish during the day, the Euchambersia volunoctus undergoes a rapid transformation during the hours of the night. Like it's relative the Purlovia, these "Therocephalians" are carnivorous, though unlike the latter they do not hide underground and prefer to hunt their prey more actively. With a low-slung body and a cryptic patterning, it should come as no surprise that Therocephalians are ambush predators. They are incredibly patient hunters, slowly creeping right up to their prey before striking.
As if stealth and camouflage weren't enough, the Therocephalian is armed with a potent secret weapon. From glands beneath their cheeks they can produce a strong form of neurotoxin. Though not deadly outright, this venom directly attacks the nerves, causing excruciating muscle cramps and temporary paralysis.
Therocephalians will latch onto a victim with a vice-like grip and quite literally "chew" the venom into the flesh of their prey, before backing off to let the poison do its work. Once its prey has been subdied, the Therocephalian moves in to feed, oftentimes while the victim is still alive and conscious.

Tamed
Despite their small size and rather fragile build, Therocephalians are highly sought-after by many tribes all across the island. Their low-slung profile means they are very hard to detect, making them excellent scouting mounts. A tamed Therocephalian's venomous bite can also be used to weaken opponents in combat, and has the added benefit of making afflicting animals more susceptible to torpor-inducing attacks!

ABILITIES

- Standard bite attack with LMB.
- Special attack with RMB. Therocephalian clamps its jaws onto a target and applies venom over a few seconds. This will lock-down smaller targets and slow larger targets.
- Crtl causes Thero to enter a "stalking mode" with significantly reduced movement speed but very high stealth.
- Pressing spacebar in stealth will cause the Thero to dash in a specific direction, dropping the aggro of all non-mounted animals currently attacking it. Does not work on turrets.
- Combining the stealth and dash with your RMB attack does increased damage & venom to your target.

Therocephalian Venom:
Thero venom works as a weakening agent and does not directly deal torpor. Instead it increases the effectiveness of torpor-inducing attacks. When a Therocephalian clamps onto an animal they take a few seconds to inject their venom. Thero venom is applied in stacks and these score how much extra torpor the target takes from other attacks. Venom stacks wear off over time, so it is important to continuously clamp and inject on larger, stronger targets.
Venom stacks up to 4 times and functions like this-
1 Stack = 15% Torpor Weakness
2 Stack = 30% Torpor Weakness
3 Stack = 45% Torpor Weakness
4 Stacks[MAXIMUM] = 60% Torpor Weakness
As shown a target with maximum stacks takes 60% more torpor from any torpor-inducing attack.

Therocephalian Stealth:
Therocephalian stealth mechanic is meant to be used to sneak out of dangerous situations. When a Therocephalian has entered stealth the range at which it will aggro enemy creatures & structures is significantly reduced. This means you can sneak fairly close to aggressive animals or active turrets without getting blasted.

Taming:
Due to their own venom a Therocephalian cannot be tranquilized by narcotic darts. During the day Therocephalian cannot be tamed but at night when they become aggressive, you can use their own strengths against them. A hunting Therocephalian will enter its "stealth" mode and stalk a survivor for a time before performing their dash attack. Players can stun a Therocephalian by shielding themselves right before that dash hits.
This stun allows survivors to knock it out using items like clubs or slingshots or even your fists. A stunned Therocephalian takes massively increased torpor from physical means and survivors can extend the stun with a bolas or net. Once unconscious the rest of the taming process is fairly straightforward.
