Savor the moment with Saivodus!
Art by: RU5TY1738

Common Name: Saivodus
Species: Saivodus Striatus
Time: Carboniferous
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Opportunistic

Wild:
Saivodus Striatus is a remarkable species patrolling the Ark's oceans, always looking for its next meal. It has adapted to the harsh biodiversity by adopting an opportunistic feeding routine. Lunging toward prey, brutally maiming them with its incredible jaws aligned with natural razors. Much like the mainland’s Hyaenodon, this large shark seeks out weakened prey rather than wasting energy hunting it down. Despite how hostile the ocean is, I have yet to see any predator instigate a fight with a Saivodus. Perhaps their spines are the reasoning. Shockingly, Saivodus is not aggressive until provoked or has deemed you a quick and easy food source.

Domesticated:
Many coastal tribes have sought to instigate a feeding frenzy in hopes of befriending this hungry fish. Saivodus is sought after for its high metabolism, much like Daeodon. It too, possesses the ability to regenerate rapidly, not only itself but to any nearby creature. This regeneration is influenced by what Saivodus is digesting, requiring an ample food supply. The natural razors aligning the massive jaw allow Saivodus to tear into its victim. Violently thrashing its head, tainting the water with the victim's blood from its elegant gills. These bloodbaths increase the aggression of not only Saivodus but all aquatic creatures, war parties have used this ability to devastating effect.

Controls and Abilities:

Passive Ability: Spined Adornment
Due to it's spines most of the ocean's predators won't instigate a fight unless you have picked one.
As mentioned in the dossier, Saivodus is quite the spiny shark. This means that most aquatic animals will ignore you, unless you pick a fight with them first. No more getting swarmed by megalodons after only dipping your toe in the sea!

Left-Click: Bite

Right-Click: Heal pulse AOE, much like Daedon requires “ammo” to be used.

While holding a target in Saivodus's mouth the right click becomes a tail smack that uses the target as a projectile launching them a reasonable distance.

R-Key: Switches the healing type and the food consumed

Depending on the healing type, the AOE does a different Healing Value look at the chart below.

Healing Types and their Healing Values:

Raw meat: (0.0025)(Max Creature Health) Maximum of 200 hp/sec

Fish meat: (0.005) (Max Creature Health) Maximum of 400 hp/sec

Prime meat: (0.005)(Max Creature Health) Maximum of 400 hp/sec

Mutton: (0.007)(Max Creature Health) Maximum of 550 hp/sec

Prime Fish Meat: (0.007)(Max Creature Health) Maximum of 550 hp/sec

C-Key: This is a grab, this grab works a lot like megalosaurus, it can still left-click and do damage to the target that is held. If the target is larger than Saivodus can pick up, it will latch onto the target much like deinonychus latch. Once latched onto a target spam left-click to perform a thrashing attack that spews blood out of the gills activating Gill Empowerment and will let go of the latched target. While thrashing damage is done to the target after the latch is finished, the buff will be applied to allies. The latch DOES NOT APPLY BLEED TO THE LATCHED TARGET!!!! This latch-on has a long cooldown.

Gill Empowerment: 10% damage increase, allies are given this buff through the latch attack from Saivodus. DOES NOT STACK

Taming Method:
To tame Saivodus, you must instigate a feeding frenzy on one of your tames. To do this, you will make a chum bucket tainted by Narcotics. Once you have located a Saivodus to tame, you will want a creature it can latch onto. Imagine using a Basilosaurus for now. Once found, dismount your Basilo and use the chum bucket on your Basilo. Inviting the Saivodus to believe your tame is wounded, where it will then latch onto the target and thrash. Since it thrashes, the narcotic chum will filter through its gills, exhausting it and eventually leading it to pass out. Now you put meat into its inventory or kibble and BOOM, you can now Savor the moment with your newly tamed Saivodus.

My Reasoning:
Originally this submission was made for Gen 1 as it is the best ocean in Ark since it has gameplay compared to every other map. I am submitting it for the center because of how many people I have been seeing wanting an aquatic to win for the center, so I decided to try and throw this in the ring. If Saivodus wins, I hope it spawns on Gen 1 since there is a boss for which this creature can be used. If Saivodus loses, I will be resubmitting it for Gen 1 since it was made for that map. The Oceans in Ark are very lackluster they feel very forgotten by the devs until Gen 1 since, well there is content. I told myself that if there is a vote for every map that is a lot of creatures, one should be a marine lifeform. Hence why The center and Gen 1 I am submitting this creature. I dislike how Meg looks in this game and thought a new shark could be added in that looks GOOD! With great textures and abilities etc. I like the idea of an underwater healer since there isn’t one, so I got to Saivodus as an Idea. It would be genuinely valuable to have and help the player interact with content in the ocean. Since ASA is a remaster, I assume all oceans will look great, so having a new aquatic for the new ocean makes sense. I gave Saivodus a “new” healing mechanic basing the idea on Daedon. I researched how Daedon's values work for healing, which I used to establish Saivodus's healing mechanic. I also originally tossed around the idea of Saivodus being a support buffing animal and decided why not give it a fun thrashing mechanic. Sharks are truly graceful creatures; we only have one in Ark, which looks very aged. This creature isn’t a replacement for Meg but something that can coexist since Meg is a bleeding pack creature, Saivodus is a healing support that can buff war parties.

I will happily look at comments for suggestions and feedback!

I also had an idea for Saivodus but this time it is very different.

Common name : Saivodus

Species : saivodus amicissimum

Diet : piscivorous

Temperament : playful/friendly

Summary : Jumping and playful is the only way I can describe the Saivodus amicissimun. Slightly smaller in size than their ancestors they are seen swimming in groups of up to 4 individuals playing and communicating with each other by jumping out of the water or simply splashing around. Marine villages use them as recreational and underwater exploration mounts thanks to their special saddle which on the surface helps them go faster and do tricks easily and in the depths can be used as an oxygen bag by including tanks that will release bubbles from time to time so that their riders do not drown.

Tameable : yes, special method

Mountable : yes, special and common saddle

Reproducible : yes, bia gestation

If you are wondering how to tame one, I will leave you with an example:
