Introducing the Anomalocaris! The armored predator of the depths!

Common Name: Anomalocaris
Species Name: Anomalocaris praedor (Predatory Abnormal Shrimp)
Time: Early to Mid Cambrian
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament:
Oblivious

Tameable: No
Rideable: No
Utilities:
Chitin Generator, Black Pearl Generator, Silica Pearl Generator

Wild:

Although it is not the apex predator that it was before, Anomalocaris is still quite a threat in its own right, albeit only to trilobites and fish, quite sadly. With its amazingly maneuverability and speed, it can quickly outspeed most small fish and other tiny organisms, where it uses its sucking mouth to pierce their scales and suck their insides in a violent fashion. Fish has become a major part of its diet, as their bodies are softer and they're not as armored as other creatures like trilobites. However, Anomalocaris is quite adaptable and can easily eat most animals, even carrion if it needs to. Still, despite these somewhat impressive adaptations, they're not as powerful or as dominant as creatures like the Megalodon or the Tylosaurus, which shows how much it has become a shadow of a bygone age.

Domesticated:

Due to its primitive anatomy and smaller body, Anomalocaris is not intelligent enough to be tamed. Even coaxing them into pens does not work for the most part, as they struggle to even survive in captivity. Despite this, Anomalocaris is very common in the ocean depths of the Island, and this has led them to be preyed upon by many tribes for easy access for chitin and silica pearls, due to their diet. Even black pearls were found in the guts of these creatures. Animals like Dunkleosteus are especially effective against them, as their crushing capabilities allow them to yield more chitin and other materials. While some worry over the hunting of these creatures, their growth cycle is relatively fast, allowing them to bounce back and recover their populations.

Additional Info:

Anomalocaris is quite big for a primitive animal, as it seems to be as long as a normal human. While this means that it needs more food, prey is plentiful, as there are many kinds of fish and trilobites. Even aggressive kinds of fish have no effect on its armor, which can lead to horrifying massacres of Sabertooth Salmon whenever a few Anomalocaris arrive. If they were able to be tamed, I would be sure that they would be the best counter for the Sabertooth Salmon and other hostile fish that roam these waters.

Author's Notes:

It's time for a new dossier, and this time it is the Anomalocaris, the armored predator of the depths!

This is the one of the few non-tameable dossiers that I have done, since making this animal tameable would not make sense, as it is quite primitive and very small compared to Aegirocassis, which was barely tameable due to its size. Still, it is quite an iconic animal and definitely one of the most unique. Living in the open oceans, they are very predatory, as they rely on eating fish and trilobites. Unlike its Cambrian counterpart, Anomalocaris praedor mainly hunts fish, as it is easier for them to eat due to their softer bodies. They are also very fast, allowing them to outspeed much of the prey that it is hunting. They can even eat carrion in order to sustain themselves, which makes them extremely adaptable.

Despite this, they are quite oblivious to their surroundings, and they lack the intelligence to be tamed. Still, they are quite important for human tribes, as it allows for an easy access to chitin, black pearls, and silica pearls, all of which are essential in the growth of their tribe. Although they don't yield as much compared to Eurypterids or Trilobites, their commonality still makes them valuable targets. Luckily, Anomalocaris breeds very quickly and rebounds from these killings quite easily. If they were able to be tamed, then they would be an amazing counter to Sabertooth Salmon and other fishes like Megapiranha due to their armor, in addition to their great speed and maneuverability.

Thanks for reading!
