MONGOLARACHNE: THE WASTELAND ARACHNID
PxrpleLightning posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
THE MONGOLARACHNE Basic Info: When you think of Extinction, you usually don't think of a normal dinosaur-looking creature. Unlike most other maps, the vast majority of new creatures introduced with the Extinction map are completely different looking creatures, meaning that a new basic dinosaur creature wouldn't fit the theme of the map. Instead of a dinosaur, however, there are many other types of prehistoric animals (and bugs) that can be used as a substitution. The Mongolarachne was a large spider-like creature with unique features making it fit in with other Extinction creatures such as the Velonosaur, Gacha, and Managarmr. Wild Creature Info: The Mongolarachne is an intelligent creature living in the wastelands and relying on other creatures to weaken its prey before it hunts. Since the Mongolarachne does not want to waste energy or its life attacking things that are bigger than it, it waits for its prey to become weak enough for it to snatch it up before the other creature hunting its prey is able to kill the prey. This would obviously upset the creature hunting, however the Mongolarachne is fast enough to escape any threats before it's attacked. When the Mongolarachne is attacked, however, if it does not have any prey, it will attack back. But, if the Mongolarachne is carrying its prey, for example if it's running away with its prey after stealing food from another creature, it will not attack back, but instead it will carry its prey and run away. However, if it gets weak enough, it will drop its prey and run. The Mongolarachne will also have a damage reduction for ranged weaponry, and can be used to counter the Velonosaur. Taming Info: To tame the Mongolarachne , the player must be of low enough health while near one, and then the Mongolarachne will grab the player and start running off with them, in an attempt to bring the player to a safe place to eat. However, when the Mongolarachne finds a place to eat, if the player is carrying a creature, the Mongolarachne will begin to eat the creature that the player is carrying, giving the player time to run away. This process must be repeated until the Mongolarachne has been tamed. Tamed Ability Info: Web Shooting Like the Araneo, the Mongolarachne has the ability to shoot webs, however these webs deal damage for as long as the target is stuck. For players that are webbed, there will be a large web blocking a large portion of their screen, making their visibility sharply decrease. These webs can be cut by a sword or other melee weapon and silk is needed as ammo for the web shooting. Wall Crawling Although many other creatures can crawl up and around vertical walls and terrain, the Mongolarachne is different. When crawling on these spaces, the Mongolarachne will become hidden, making it difficult to spot for creatures that are both hostile and passive. When the Mongolarachne shoots webs or attacks, its hidden ability will wear off, making it vulnerable to being seen by enemies. This hidden ability also works on other player turrets and dinos, decreasing the range that other players turrets and dinos can detect the Mongolarachne from. Cave/Nighttime Buff When inside of a cave, or during nighttime, the Mongolarachne will gain a buff. Wild Mongolarachne cannot receive this buff since they live primarily in the wastelands where it is always daytime. This buff will decrease the amount of damage intake the Mongolarachne has, and increase the duration of the webs that the Mongolarachne shoots. Underground Burrowing Like the Purlovia, Basilisk, and a few others, the Mongolarachne has the ability to burrow underground and hide from other creatures or players. This burrowing ability can be used to store items, however when inside of this burrow, the Mongolarachne is extremely vulnerable to explosives and surprise attacks, and if attacked while in the burrow, the Mongolarachne will come out of the burrow and drop any items that are in its inventory. Let me know what you think of my creature, and vote for it if you would like to see it in Extinction! Thanks -
The Urogypi, or more commonly, whip scorpion is a real world arachnid that can be found in the jungles and deserts of South America, North America and parts of Asia. Though they are only the size of your hand in real life, the Urogypi would be heavily upsized, just like the Rhyniognatha. I would imagine it somewhat comparable to the size of a Thorny Dragon or Sarco. Attacks: Primary (LMB, R2) - a standard swipe with its claws that would inflict a debuff, either a Bleed similar to a Deinonychus, or a stamina drain similar to a Kapro. Secondary (RMB, L2) - This attack would use the two "whips", although they are really just long limbs. It would be able to whip dinos to move them, just like a whip. You would also be able to dismount players off of tames, and you would be able to disarm the weapons out of peoples hands. Essentially, it would act as a living whip with no durability and triple the range due to its size. This would make it a very strong (and annoying) dino to go against in PvP, but I feel that it could be countered by riding taller dinos that are taller. Uropygi are quite flat, so its whips wouldn't be able to reach very high, just far. Tertiary (C, R3) - This attack would spit acid that would apply a weakening debuff, causing the effected dino to deal less damage and take much more damage. This would make the creature an invaluable tool for boss fights or countering turret soakers. (Uropygi can actually spit acid that causes irritation as self defense in real life) Quaternary (X, R1) - This attack would consume Silk in the Uropygi's inventory and coat its whips and body in it, giving it a damage reduction and increasing the damage and attack speed of the whips. Since it's part of the arachnid family, it feels right for it to have a mechanic with silk, and we don't have much in the game that deals with attack speed as of yet. Passive Abilities: The Uropygi would be able to generate Silk in its invetory, as arachnids do. You would then consume the silk using your quaternary attack to gain several buffs, or simply take it for crafting or repairing your tools. The Uropygi saddle would act as a crafting bench for lasso's and whips, and would also be able to repair whips using only silk. It only makes sense for the Dino based around whiping to have a lasso, even though it is currently exclusive to the Equus. The Uropygi would also be able to scale walls just like a Megalania, making getting Whip angles much more interesting and just improving its overall traversing aspect, as I would imagine a creature like this would be rather slow (Apologies for the MS paint drawing, i couldn't get the file size requirement to cooperate) Location and Taming: They would be located all over the desert areas of Ragnarok, and also in some of the larger caves. For taming, Something unique but not too crazy (I'm looking at you Amargasaurus). For this creature, you'd need to approach it with a shield to draw its aggro. When it attempts to whip you with its forelegs, you would have to block at just the right moment to parry its attack, stunning it for a few moments. This will give you enough time to approach its mouth and feed it spoiled meat, or its preferred food, sap. (sap a major part of the diet of real world Uropygi. Overall, I feel like a creature like this would fill a very specific niche that no creature currently has, and it would be an invaluable tool for bossfights as well as disarming and disrupting your foes in PvP. Thanks for reading if you made it this far, be sure to upvote!~
