Tetrapodophis - The 4 Legged Snake of Elements
Somes posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Please Read! Tetrapodophis is NOT a fake creature. This creature was classed by science as a snake but than re-classed as a lizard. Some scientists are even still in debate as to if this creature is the start of snake evolution or not. Everything in more detailed reference to what the creature could look like in game for each variant will be written for the Devs at the bottom of the submission after the controls inputs. A note to those not wanting to read, I understand but there are 5 versions so that is why it seems like a lot of text. I tried to lessen it as much as I could and also added images. Please visit the Wiki link below to acknowledge the creature is a real creature if you have doubts, thanks. The WIKI: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrapodophis Common Name: (Name prefixes: 🔥 Burning, 🌊 Aquatic, ☣️ Venomous, ❄️ Chilling & ⚡ Mountain) 4 Legged "Prefix" Snake *Previously changed from Long Dragon because of confusion* Species: Tetrapodophis Group: Dolichosaurid, Ophidia *both posted because of scientific debates* Pack/Herd/Swarm/Flock Behavior: 1 - 4 Time/Era: Early Cretaceous Idle Temperament: Territorial ✊ Temperament On Hit: Aggressive 💢 Diet: Carnivore, they will eat Eggs, Chitin, Blood Packs, Leech Blood and Fish too (will eat cooked food as well) Feces Size: Small x4 💩 Tameable: ✔️ Rideable: ✔️ Saddle Level: 72, Tek-90 🌈All Variants On Death Special Drops: Rare Scale Shed Coins, Random Higher Quality Loot (Works Similar To Supply Drops But No Blueprints) & Resources Fitting the Element Types (as seen below) On Death Drops: 🔥 Burning: Meat, Hide, Keratin, Charcoal On Death Drops: 🌊 Aquatic: Meat, Hide, Keratin, Oil On Death Drops: ☣️ Venomous: Meat, Hide, Keratin, Narcotic On Death Drops: ❄️ Chilling: Meat, Hide, Keratin, Crystal On Death Drops: ⚡ Mountain: Meat, Hide, Keratin, Obsidian 📖 Wild Info: Like Wyverns, Tetrapodophis has multiple elemental classifications (or variants) along with abilities and are found in different biomes/climates across the Arks. In some cases these creatures live near or with Wyverns as well. Oddly neither creature attacks eachother unless Tetrapodophis steals an egg or is domesticated. This does make them sometimes tricky to tame and sets them to a coveted status amongst tribes. Their snake-like tongues have sensory abilities that are useful while tamed but also useful for them in the wild, this allowing them to sense danger from father distances which gives them time to get in a defense stance. Each variant has its own unique abilities and qualities that bring a number of values to all tribes that acquire them. First of the variants we have the Burning 🔥 - This variant is thornier and more bush viper-like than the rest and has the ability to withstand being in lava. It can also spit liquid fire like a flamethrower in bursts (like a short stream of flaming dilo spit basically). When hit with this creatures projectile it causes burn over time damage. They can be found in volcanic locations on the map and may spread out a bit from them areas. This variant has an insulation buff to warm those nearby and can even do basic cooking in its inventory like a mobile grill. It has sensory abilities with its tongue to locate and find Alpha creatures. It also has the ability to see in thermal/heat vision. When under water this variant can not perform its breath weapon and instead does an attack where it swims in a circle fast allowing it to hit a small AOE all around it. It has a weakness to water and ice attacks so expect a slight more damage from those elements. Next we have the Aquatic 🌊 - This variant is the slimier of the species and rarely leaves the water. It can be found in or by water but it can be seen around inlets and swamps when on land. This one can spit a powerful water jet burst. When hit with this water jet there is a knock back with stagger effect. It has sensory abilities using its tongue to forecast weather (like Jerboa). This variant can become Aberrant with bioluminescence in the dark and be immune to waters effected by radiation or element toxins. Immunity to Eels and Jellyfish shocks make it one of the best tames for getting pearls and biotoxin. When under water this variant can not perform its breath weapon and instead does an attack where it swims in a circle fast allowing it to hit a small AOE all around it (similar effect as Baryonyx). It has a weakness to ice, poison and earth attacks so expect a slight damage increase from that element when hit. The Venomous ☣️ - This variant is very basic looking in terms of features and has tree snake type vibes to it with its colors. It can be found hiding in jungles and forests. It does not seem as special as the others at first glance aside from it being the only one with venom but that is because no one sees what makes it special...it has a camouflage/cloaking ability. It can also spit venom like a Dilo at a longer range. When hit with its spit attack it has the same effect as the dilo projectile but with light torpor and small poison damage over time. Using its tongue, it has sensory abilities to find creatures that hide or are in positions unseen (This includes creatures in trees, under the ground and using cloaking abilities). When under water this variant can not perform its breath weapon and instead does an attack where it swims in a circle fast allowing it to hit a small AOE all around it. Out of all the variants it has the most weaknesses to elements but it is however immune to torpor and poison. Expect slight more damage from ice, fire, earth and electric. The Chilling ❄️ - It of course lives in cold, wintry and glacial biomes and it can be seen sporting glacial blue colors with white and greys mixed in. This variant has the ability to be a mobile bio-fridge, it will keep things preserved just as long as a fridge would. It can breathe a cold foggy mist that works as a method of healing similar to a Snow Owl in effect. It has an AC effect when near it. Its tongue sensory ability helps locate high level creatures. When under water this variant can not perform its breath weapon and instead does an attack where it swims in a circle fast allowing it to hit a small AOE all around it. This variant has weaknesses to fire, earth and electric elements. So look forward to being hit a slight bit harder from those type of attacks. The Mountain ⚡ - Of all the variants it is the most tanky. It lives in caves and mountains and likes to blend in with the rocky terrain. This variant is like a solar battery, it can charge up and than release electric charges to shock its victims on contact. Its attacks will give a short damage over time shock effect and knockback. It has an ability to be a short range electrical source when charged and can run electrical base items. It can charge batteries when fully charged and also use them to hold a charge longer. This has a tongue sensory that enable it to locate turrets and creatures in turret mode, very useful for PVP. This variant is the only one of its kind that can perform its special attack under water but also combines it with the attack where it swims in a circle fast allowing it to hit a small AOE all around it. This not only does physical damage like the other variants but it also does shock damage that slows the victim for a number of seconds. Explosive and hard hitting attacks are this variants best counter but if targeted in the right spot it will drop fairly quick with poison/torpor. 💫 Taming: Much like a Basilisk, you must get these creatures to eat eggs. Not just any eggs though. They require Extra Large Eggs only. Once it is triggered onto the egg it will perform a quick jaw de-hinge animation and will swallow the egg whole. As the egg is stuck in the creatures throat it will go into a digestive mode until the egg compacts inside the creature. In this state certain creatures will attack it while it is vulnerable in a food coma. Protect it until it digests the egg and spits out the shell. Keep feeding it eggs like this until it is tamed. 💕 Breeding/Farming: To get these creatures to mate you need to basically bring them to a climate they are comfortable in. Its sounds silly but essentially you escort them on ummm lets say play dates lol. Once you arrive to the proper climate biome they will unlock mating as normal but otherwise the mate option will be locked. Alternatively, with the proper tools (like AC's or Fireplaces for example) players can set up mating pens/rooms but they must be indoors and have the shelter buff active. Adobe would be best due to better shelter buff. Once an egg is laid you should than proceed to hatch it in proper conditions as with most eggs. The conditions for egg variants will pertain to the creatures elemental type/climate. Suggested new Glass Aquarium building type for water creatures to assist in mating the water variant at home base. Would also be useful to display and farm fish tames. When hatched the babies will require similar treatment as Wyverns but rather than Milk, they will want Blood Packs. The babies will start eating small eggs when juvenile. Once they leave juvenile state they will start eating larger eggs. 👥 Tamed (Domesticated) Info: Each tamed variant sheds off scales that tribes may use as coins/currencies if found, farmed and hunted. They also drop on death as well in the wild. Each variant of course has different scale types that may be worth more to some players than others. There is also a type that can be farmed called an Artisan Mint, which can only be obtained by sacrificing tamed high level Tetrapodophis. When a tamed Tetrapodophis dies it will drop an Artisan Pouch that can have up to 0-5 Artisan Mint and 1-10 Domestic Shed. All scales can be used as chitin/keratin if players do not see them as potentially valuable currency for RP players and traders. 💰 Coin / Difficulty / How to get / Suggested Worth: Wild Shed / Medium - Hard / They are shed off and dropped passively after a set amount of time in the untamed wild environments the creature is in / Suggested worth is the mid ranged Hunted Shed / Medium - Hard / They are collected from the corpse of the creature by inventory & harvest / Suggested worth is high Domestic Shed / Easiest / Collected manually from the creature when tamed by tribe or owner / Suggested worth is the lowest Artisan Mint / Easy / Rare scales from a dead, culled or killed tamed Tetrapodophis that is above max wild level / Suggested worth is the highest These creatures have a Latching ability exactly like a Megalania. There are multiple saddles made for these creatures. A normal saddle that rides a single person for two sections of the creature (made as 1 saddle riding 2 players). Than Tek Saddles that have winged carapaces with jets that will grant flight to this majestic beast (also made as 1 saddle). Please note that the Tek Saddle will require any form of element to fuel it and the boosters will work under water. Using the Tek Saddle will eliminate the Latching ability and replace it with flight while worn. The players are seated in the saddles just like they would sit in an Argentavis saddle. These creatures can coil up around mid to large sized creatures as if It is a big snake like bola. While Tetrapodophis is lizard-like, it attacks and strikes quick like a snake. Tetrapodophis makes excellent turrets for defense as well. The turret stance should be the same or similar to the On Guard Stance emote explained in Other Notes (below). The Mountain variant does not have a projectile attack but it actually sends out a shocking wave that has knock back and it has a chance to stun but ONLY IN TURRET MODE. This Shocking Wave has an AOE range and has an affect that effects electrical objects like an EMP. This makes this variant a very effective strategy in PVP raids if you can set it in turret mode close enough to critical generators or defenses. 📓 Other Notes: Similar to dragons and serpents of lore they like treasures so it is not uncommon to find something on them upon death or when you KO them. Each variant holds different types of loot. There should be server-side settings to set loot quality for this creature much like Supply Drops or Fishing Loot. Don't bother hunting them for blueprints though, they will not have them. When walking normal the creature trots similar to a ferret in animation. When sprinting it goes into slither mode and moves faster like a snake. The Aquatic variant will also lose water while on land and this means that it can lead to health dropping if it is on land too long. Tetrapodophis has its own emotes... On Guard Stance - The creature will stand upright on its hind legs looking poised for attack & defense. (Tribute to the Mortal Kombat dragon) Coiled Sleeping - It simply walks in circles and then slithers into a coiled sleeping position. Relaxed Sitting Pose - Its rear is half coiled and sitting while its neck and head are positioned upright standing on its front legs. Play Dead - A death feign pose. Its a trait that snakes have when threatened. 🎮 Attacks, Movement & Ability Controls: Quick Strike/Bite - PC: RMB | Playstation: R2 | Xbox: RT Breath/Elemental Spit (Underwater AOE or Mountain variant Shockwave) - PC: LMB | Playstation: L2 | Xbox: LT Bola Grab (Larger Dinos Only) - PC: C | Playstation: L3 | Xbox: LS(L3) Slither (Sprint) - PC: L or R [Shift] | Playstation: R3 | Xbox: RS(R3) Tek Saddle Flight Toggle Or Non-Tek Saddle Latching- PC: Spacebar | Playstation: X | Xbox: A Tek Saddle Flight Booster/ChemTrail Stream - PC: (Hold)Spacebar | Playstation: (Hold)X | Xbox: (Hold)A (Works while under water) Turret/Guard Mode (Whistle Menu Button) - PC: [ ' ] | Playstation: (Hold)O | Xbox: (Hold)B And then select from Radial Whistle Menu. They also have a reptilian rhino-like horn on its nose. 🌊 The water born Aquatic version of this creature has an amphibious look to it that resembles an Axolotl with scales with also having webbed appendages, these versions will have a lot of black, blues and teal/turquoise in color but some white too. ☣️ Venomous forest versions are very basic and have only snake like features with no spines or special appendages, they are normally in color of greens and browns with a white, tan or yellow line down the sides. ⚡ Electric Mountain versions will have rough scales to look a bit like stone and have a rocky rough textured looks to them with tan and grey colors to blend in with mountain terrain. The Mountain version will also look like it has rough metallic horns, spikes and talons (like Raw Metal in game). They also have a large reptilian rhino-like horn feature on its nose and fairly large reptilian eyebrow horns. ❄️ The Chilling versions are very similar to the Mountain version but rather than rough rocky textured features and metal horns/talons/spikes...it has glassy/pearl ice looking scales. The spikes, horns and talons look like icicles. The Chilling variants will be shades of white, grey and glacial blue...maybe some crystal-like tints and luster. 🌈All variants will have out of ordinary colors in the wild for events or rare color mutations after breeding. They will also use all colors in the game, including the paint colors in those circumstances. All variants should also have a tad bit longer torsos compared to the art shown...this is to be a bit more snake-like. For extra detailed references I want to post links to the creatures below this feature diagram. This diagram is to point out the real world inspired features used to design this creatures appearance. Not all variants will use each feature or will even have said features. This is just to show a more detailed idea in comparison to my art. As stated previously, I must repeat that features should be different for each of the variants. 🔥 ⚡ ❄️ Aside from the aquatic cheek flairs and eye horns shown in the images above, most of it shown there is for the Burning variant. All of these Burning features will be similar for the Chilling and Mountain variants but not for the Venomous and Aquatic variants. The eye horns should only be on the Chilling and Mountain variants. The rhino-like horn should NOT be on the Chilling, Venomous and Aquatic variants. The spikey spider tail should only be on the Burning variant. ☣️ The Venomous variant will look more sleek and plain like a California Racer or Garter snake. 🌊 The Aquatic variant will have its own features. Any horns will instead be glowing antennas like Angler Fish have. It will have fish-like scales rather than the spiney/jagged ones or common scales. The tail will also look amphibian-like or eel-like rather than having jagged scales and spider tail spikes. It won't have the nose horn, it will have catfish-like whiskers instead. The legs and feet will have amphibious webbing and fins. The cheek flairs will look like Axolotl gill frills. The variant style cheek flairs and designs should fit well with the overall look of the variant...it should match with the rest of it like the features would match on wyverns. The fin looking cheek flairs in the diagram are just for an example and really do not fit any of the Tetrapodophis variants. The Venomous variant should NOT have cheek flairs at all. The Burning variant should have cheek spikes like an Ankylo. The Mountain variant should have plated scales on its head, cheeks and jaw that look armored similar to the Doedics scale plates on its head. It should just look more jagged like stone. Lastly, the Chilling variant should follow the footsteps of ice wyverns and be similar to the ice wyvern spikes.
