  1. The Josephoartigasia was the largest rodent to ever exist, approaching near the size of an american bison. Living in South America from 3 to 2 million years ago, it was a neighbor to other iconic south american megafauna like giant ground sloths, glyptodonts, and terror birds. Living on an island continent, it filled the ecological niche that hippos fill today, that of large, amphibious herbivores. Given this, and the geography of the Center, I believe it would be right at home on the map. A useful, amphibious tame full of abilities, this giant rodent can take you across the map's landscape, travel across the waterways, and even fulfill your deep sea diving adventures. Abilities: -Standard bite: A standard bite that can deal damage and collect materials -Pacify: Modern capybaras are renowned for their ability to get along with seemingly all types of creatures, and on an Ark full of predators the Josephoartigasia has taken this a step further. Like their modern relatives, their fur is oily. This oil in their dense fur secretes a serum that pacifies the creatures around it. Once tamed this oil can be passively collected and refined into a new form of darts, which, opposite to the ammonite bile darts that anger every creature around them, pacifies all creatures around them. This, in the right hands, can be very beneficial for taming as it’ll make your target docile for a short period of time. This oil can also be used the same way normal oil can, and can be rubbed off onto a survivor giving them a temporary passive effect for as long as the oil stays on. -Water buff: Similar to the spino and shadowmane, while making contact with water it will receive a buff that gives it added speed and damage. -Chomp and knaw: Rodents have some of the most durable teeth in nature, and the biggest rodent is no different. Able to knaw and chomp on structures they can wear down and break all structures below metal and tek. Behavior: Josephoartigasia are generally passive creatures, and can be approached safely by survivors. While not completely tied to the water, they are most comfortable around it. When attacked, they will fight back, but once their health has been lowered enough they’ll attempt to pacify before running back to the water. They can actually run fairly fast, meaning that they can get back to the water quickly. While they spend most of the day in the water with regular but quick trips to the shore to forage, they spend most of the night grazing on land. This makes taming at night easier since they are more readily available to begin the process. During the day while in the water they are often seen submerged with their heads, nose and ears sticking out of the water, similar to a hippo(see reference below). Taming: Tamed passively, these large animals mainly subsist on aquatic foliage, however they like to knaw and maintain the condition of their teeth every now and then. Survivors can tame them by placing structures near them, then wait for them to approach. Once next to a structure, the Josephoartigasia will gnaw on said structure. This preoccupies them, allowing for a survivor to approach them and feed them their preferred food, honey and superior kibble. Note that wooden structures seem to be best suited for this, with wooden foundations paired with walls and door frames being most suitable. Saddle: There are two options when it comes to saddles. A basic saddle that can be unlocked earlier, and a submarine type saddle that can be used as a small mobile water port. Similar to the andrewsarchus turret saddle but for the water, this small submarine type saddle comes equipped with a light that can make swimming through the map's abyss easier. When inside their advisable air, meaning no matter how deep you go you won’t have to worry about running out of air while inside. The submarine is small, proportionate to a small platform saddle, but is still large enough to have a harpoon launcher and jets for added speed attached to its sides. This saddle can hold two passengers, while the normal saddle can only hold one. Appearance: While resembling the real animal, it has color patterns similar to its closest living relative, the Pacarana(see reference down below). Its appearance and color pattern will also greatly resemble a capybara but with a broader build and longer tail. About the size of a trike, they are sizable creatures and much bigger than Ark's other amphibious rodent, the castoroides. Additional visual examples:
  2. Dossier: Name: Atopodentatus Species: Reef Serpent Intro: In the mysterious waters of ARK, the Atopodentatus gracefully glides, a unique marine reptile with adaptations to thrive in ancient seas. Its serpent-like form and specialized jaw set it apart from other marine creatures. Remarkably, the Atopodentatus can venture onto land, using a lizard-like movement to traverse the terrain with ease, making it a fascinating inhabitant of both underwater and coastal environments. Appearance: Source: https://DILO-triassic.tumblr.com/post/190114965064/atopodentatus-unicus/amp Atopodentatus boasts a distinctive appearance, resembling a long serpent-like reptile with a slender body. Its most remarkable feature is its specialized jaw structure, the upper part extending into a flattened, spatula-like shape, and the lower jaw remaining slender and pointed for efficient algae and seagrass scraping. . atopendatus was a medium-sized reptile measuring about 2.75 m (9.0 ft) long. The geological strata in which the fossil was found, the elongated body, reduced neck, robust appendages and hips of Atopodentatus all suggest that the reptile was probably semi-aquatic in nature L Habitat and Adaptations: This reef serpent is an adept swimmer, navigating reefs and coastlines with ease. Its specialized jaw enables it to scrape algae and seagrasses from underwater surfaces, providing sustenance in its aquatic habitat. Additionally, Atopodentatus can move onto land using a lizard-like movement, propelling itself forward with its powerful limbs and elongated body, making it adaptable to various environmental conditions. Abilities: 1. Algae Scrape: Atopodentatus skillfully scrapes algae and nutritious plants from the seafloor using its specialized jaw, effectively replenishing its hunger while underwater. 2. Terrestrial Locomotion: The creature can move on land with a lizard-like movement, using its powerful limbs to propel itself forward. this adaptation allows it to travel long distances across all sorts of environments. 3. Sonar Perception: When submerged, Atopodentatus emits faint vibrations that bounce back, granting it a natural sonar-like perception. This ability aids navigation underwater and helps it locate potential threats or sources of food. 4. Electric Resistance: The Atopodentatus is naturally immune to the electrical shocks emitted by creatures like Cnidaria. This resistance provides it with a significant advantage in dealing with dangerous underwater predators. 5. Echolocation Burst: The Atopodentatus emits a powerful burst of echolocation waves, disorienting and momentarily stunning nearby creatures. This ability can be used both underwater and on land, providing a strategic advantage for the Atopodentatus to escape from danger or engage in combat on its terms. 6. Adaptive Defense (Passive Ability): The Atopodentatus possesses an innate ability to adapt to its environment for defense. When When submerged, it generates a thin, protective layer of algae and minerals that enhances its resistance against physical damage, it gains a significant damage resistance of 50%, allowing it to withstand attacks from aquatic threats. This defensive adaptation extends to land, granting it a short 1 minute, but noteworthy, damage resistance for a limited duration. This resilience adds to the creature’s survivability and adaptability. 7. lunge attack: whilst underwater the atopodentatus can use its streamline body and powerful limbs to lunge itself to an enemy and deal good damage altough survivors found that the best use for this ability is to get a good amount of speed behind it to either go through the water at great speeds, avoid various predators or it also likes to use this ability to jump out of the water like a dolphin. 8. Minerals scrape: using the atopendatus echolocation ability it can find special spots on wich it can use its algea scrape ability to find minerals like oil iron and more. Source: https://www.sci.news/paleontology/atopodentatus-unicus-earliest-herbivorous-marine-reptile-03848.html Saddle and Function: The Atopodentatus does not require a traditional saddle to be ridden. Its streamlined body and lizard-like locomotion allow survivors to easily mount and ride it without additional equipment. However, survivors have discovered a unique function for the Atopodentatus saddle. The saddle features specialized compartments that can store algae and nutritious underwater plants. This function proves valuable for explorers who wish to collect and transport algae for other herbivorous creatures in their care. The stored algae can serve as a supplementary food source, ensuring the well-being of herbivorous companions during extended underwater expeditions or in areas with limited vegetation. Taming: Taming the Atopodentatus requires a more interactive and engaging approach. Survivors must demonstrate their understanding of the creature’s unique abilities and specialized feeding behaviors. To begin the taming process, survivors must craft a special bait using a combination of underwater vegetation, rare mushrooms, and other resources found in the ocean depths. Once the bait is ready, they must locate and approach a wild Atopodentatus in its natural habitat, typically found in the coastal regions of the ocean. As the creature approaches the bait, survivors must carefully observe its behavior to determine the preferred type of food it responds positively to. To gain the creature’s trust, survivors must offer it the preferred food, such as algae, seagrass, or other underwater plants. Patience and attentiveness are crucial as the creature inspects the food offering. Once the Atopodentatus accepts the survivor’s offerings, they must interact with the creature and synchronize their movements with its faint sonar vibrations. Throughout the taming process, forming a bond of trust with the Atopodentatus is essential. Calm and persistent interactions with the creature will signal to it that the survivors are allies, leading to a successful taming. Once successfully tamed, the Atopodentatus becomes a loyal companion, granting survivors the ability to ride and explore the vast underwater world with ease. Its companionship provides significant advantages in the dangerous marine environments, particularly with its sonar-like perception that warns the rider of potential dangers lurking beneath the waves. Its streamlined body and natural gliding capabilities allow survivors to seamlessly mount and ride it without additional equipment. Taming the Amphivorex requires a hands-on and physically engaging approach, as survivors must ride the creature and accompany it through its natural activities of climbing, swimming, and gliding. To initiate the taming process, survivors need to locate a wild Amphivorex in the forested areas near water bodies within the Center map. Once found, the survivor should approach the creature cautiously and gain its attention. Once the Amphivorex acknowledges the survivor’s presence, they can carefully mount the creature’s back. The challenge begins as the survivor must maintain their balance while the Amphivorex showcases its agility. The Amphivorex will embark on a journey that includes climbing up steep terrain, swimming through water bodies, and gliding gracefully between trees. Survivors must skillfully adjust their position to stay on the creature’s back and keep their balance during these diverse activities. To keep the Amphivorex tamed and cooperative, survivors must feed it a mix of aquatic and terrestrial food items during the journey. This not only sustains the creature’s energy but also reinforces the survivor’s role as a provider and partner. The Amphivorex will occasionally pause during its journey, providing the survivor with the opportunity to dismount briefly to gather more food resources. However, they must remain vigilant, as the creature’s trust can waver if left unattended for too long. Successfully navigating through the taming journey while maintaining balance and nourishing the Amphivorex will establish a strong bond between the survivor and the creature. Once the journey is complete, the Amphivorex will acknowledge the survivor as its trusted rider. As a tamed companion, the Amphivorex can be ridden across various terrains, demonstrating its remarkable ability to transition seamlessly between land, water, and gliding. 4. My Deinocheirus is gonna be a mid-game creature! Since The Center’s a Majority water, I wanted to make a creature that could be good for traveling the map but still leave room for some power and utility! So, I present to you, Deinocheirus Amphibidae! It’d be a semi-derpy creature but one that has a good sum of utility! I also wanted to bring a bit more life to the swamps! Something that wouldn’t try to kill you outright, but if you get it angry, you’ll be sorry you did! I felt inspired by some other creatures of past votes! It’d be almost as big as a Paracer, so you couldn’t miss it! So, take a look why don’t you? 🌎Habitat 🌎 Off the bat with a home and native habitat! As I said before, Deinocheirus would make its home in the swamps! They’d also live in the underground area of the map! Figured there could be something down there to reward those of you daring or lucky enough to make the trip! Saddle Seating - 3 Ability - Hydrated Like the Shadowmane and Spino, Deinosuchus would get the Hydrated ability! It’d get a boost in Health Regen, Movement Speed, Sharper Turn Radius, and Melee Damage! It’d seem fitting that a creature whose claws could cleave targets to pieces and can traverse the watery map with ease gets this buff! With a high health stat, yeah, you’ll be sitting on the beach letting your giant derpy duck play in the water for a bit, but it'll be worth it to keep it alive! Ability - Fish Filleting Since there’s creatures that take up roles of some tools, I figured we get one that’d be a living, Sickle! The Deinocheirus in the real world was presumed to eat plants but also consume fish! So, in the game I’ll make it a way you can not only get a lot of fish, it’d also be great for getting raw Prime Fish! Also, it’d have a weight reduction for the resource. Ability - Mobility Switching When the Deinosuchus enters deep enough water, it’ll gain webbing for its hands and feet and act as paddles for you to swim through the sea. Since you’d need a way to get from place to place, this is going to be one of its primary mechanics. Couple it’s decent swim speed with Hydration, it’ll be a very decent swimmer! You don’t have to worry about it going under either as it’ll have a natural buoyancy to it! Ability - Torpor Immunity To add a level of difficulty to this passive tame, the Deinocheirus is immune to Tranq Darts and Arrows! I’d figure since it lives in a biome where a good portion of the creatures deliver a blow to knock prey out, it’d built up an immunity! Taming You’ll have to be quick to feed this creature! It’ll have a preference of food! Ranked from the standard berries (Narco and Stim Berries Included), being the lowest, then Raw Fish, then Crops, then Raw Prime Fish meat! During the feeding interval, you’ll have to watch for the claws as they will swing them around in delight as you feed them! If you're in the path, they’ll do a decent bit of damage on you. So be careful while you try! Dossier Wild its interesting to see a creature in the swamps that can stand toe to toe with the Paracers. However, Deinocheirus Amphibidae is a pleasant surprise! Grazing in the swamps of this ark, they seem to neader and wade in the muggy waters. Grazing on the local flora and hunting occasional fish. It is refreshing to see docile and albeit friendly creatures wander the swamps. It seems to be ignored by most creatures, I have seen only one instance where a Sarco attempted to attack one, only to see the Sarco be ripped to shreds by the Deinocheirus's claws. While I was observing this massive creature, I noticed it has retractable webbing along its claws and fleet. Perhaps it's able to use its size and that webbing to swim from island to island of the center. I've witnessed the Deinocheirus gain a similar effect to the Spinosaurus when it's in the water! Perhaps it could rival the spino… Domesticated The Deinocheirus's claws make for collecting both normal and prime fish meat easy! Especially from fish like the Sabertooth Salmon and the piranha of its native biome. I've also seen that many tribes who want to show a sign of peace go for the Deinocheirus. If I had to give the creature a motto it'd be 'Speak soft and Carry a Big Stick.' This Gentle Giant is a fierce fighter if it needs to be. Especially if it makes contact with the water. Tribes who I've spoken with have all listed the same thing, Deinocheirus cannot be taken out by Tranquilizers or darts. However, they will not turn down being hand fed a free meal of Fish or Crops. They just have to be cautious not to get in the way of their claws that sway while they're eating. I do greatly hope you enjoy the Deinocheirus Amphibidae! It’s my first proper post! So, here’s hoping it makes it!
  5. Species: Enaliarctos Nix Time: Late Oligocene Diet: Piscivorous Temperament: Curious Wild: Enaliarctos Gigas is a medium-sized carnivore found in the vast waters from The Center. It seems to be very interested in humans, often approaching and following them sometimes off the water. Also finds enjoyment bullying Cnidarians, Electrophorus and Mantas without any apparent consequences. While on land they are not bothered by any predator smaller than a Carnotaur. Domesticated: This is the perfect mount for someone starting to venture into the harsh depths of the open ocean. Although clumsy on land, calling it a swift swimmer would be an understatement. Its naturally fluffy body insulates itself and the rider from the cold and reduces the oxygen consumption deeper they go. A saddle is not needed to ride it, but it is useful for carrying another passenger. This prehistoric seal can sense danger near it and on top of that some people assure Enaliarctos enhances their fishing loot. Taming one these is actually pretty easy. Handing them a fish is the way to effectively tame one.. They are particularly interested in piranhas. Taming Method: Giving it fish corpses, being the most effective piranhas. (Lvl 20 is required) Abilities: Boosts fishing loot (Must be mounted) Reduces oxygen consumption from the rider the deeper they go (When dismounted the effect lasts 30 seconds) Full Thermal insulation Reduced weight: Biotoxin(75%), Silica/Black Pearls(50%), Oil(50%) Immune to shock Radar (Underwater) Drives off small/medium sized land predators Drops: Pelt, meat and hide
