  1. This. Ultimately very few people will be interested in playing on the legacy servers, even if WC kept 100% of them running and supported (at least on the PvP end).
  2. No support for legacy servers? Seriously?

There is some perspective that needs to be had on this issue. Most games don't even give you a support ticket system that you can expect a response from in any reasonable amount of time. You only payed around $20 for the game and that stuff takes man hours and facilities to maintain. More importantly, it should have been obvious that an early access game might end up with them wiping everyone's progress. Such games are buggy and prone to exploits, so it really detracts from the game's health in the long run if those who capitalized on those early on are able to maintain the profits of those exploits. They really don't owe anyone to keep those servers alive and it would not be a "screw you" if they just shut down all legacy servers and provided you with save files. The fact that they are keeping a bunch of them alive amounts to them providing free hosting and maintenance.
  3. Someone decode this pls

hmmmm... a countdown to eight days from now? Seeing how the game is set to be released in just under five days, I wonder what this could be for?
  4. Flyers rebalanced?

I wouldn't take minor things like dino speed that you see in a trailer too literally. Those are made for visual effect.
  5. Structure Rendering

This. Being able to scout your base as well as your enclosed dinos is way too much free information. Has WC ever talked about this issue?
  6. 2xp weekends

It looks like they are testing the waters to see how the community feels about making the new 2x permanent. I for one like it.
  7. Pve vs pvp

The real answer is that maintaining PvE separately from PvP is extra work that could otherwise be devoted to developing the game. Also, it would not be just a one-time endeavor but a constant time-drain since patches and updates could affect the two differently and in weird ways the more different they are.
  8. Ark Platform Saddle Change

The limit seems a little useless since you can use alliances to get around it.
  9. That's kind of my whole point. Better ghillie gear is just better. Better for cold and warm. The way it is, it's clearly not a game mechanic that was intentionally thought out. They just have a multiplier for higher quality and didn't think through that multiplying a negative number by a greater number just makes it more negative.
  10. Sure, there is a way to find an explanation for it, but the real point is that it is a poor game mechanic. It forces excessive armor swapping when traveling between zones for no other reason than you got higher quality gear. Besides your analogy breaks down with ghillie gear. Does it get simultaneously thicker and thinner as the quality goes up since both hypo and hyper are positive?
  11. It seems that a simple multiplier is being used on the hypothermic and hyperthermic stats on gear that is of high quality. If the primitive version has a positive stat that is a good thing. But if it has a negative stat, then higher quality gear makes that stat worse. For example, default primitive chitin boots have 7.0 hypo and -5.0 hyper. I got apprentice chitin boots with 12.2 hypo and -7.5 hyper as well as journeymen chitin boots with 16.6 hypo and -10.6 hyper. I've seen this same trend across every type of higher quality gear that I've gotten. What this means is that the higher quality gear I have, the more likely I am to cook if I step foot into a warm area. This would result in people keeping a backup set of primitive gear if they don't have a set of ghillie gear available. I can only imagine what this would be like with high quality fur gear. Overall, it results in the un-fun behavior of having to do excessive gear swapping when traveling. I think it would be far more meaningful if, for example, high quality fur gear was more "breathable", a.k.a. it had a smaller hyperthermic penalty. I think the simplest solution is if the stat is negative then divide by the quality "multiplier" instead of multiplying.
  12. If you are first holding a GPS and then open your map, sometimes all your map markers will be invisible (both the pin and the label). However, if you open your map first and then equip your GPS it always works correctly and your map markers are visible. See the attached gfycat to see what this behavior looks like (52 seconds long): (Also, this gfy shows a minor graphical glitch where the feathers on fur gauntlets go through the map book.)
