Well it depends on what your using that tame for, everything creature excels in a different manner. like for instance most players don't know that even the parasaur which can be easily forced into a corner by a player by choosing which direction they attack from can gather berries drastically faster then a player by hand thus allowing them to tame a trike with much less effort. 

Tankiest Base Tame: Titanosaur
Tankiest tame that can be carried: Carbenemys
Fastest Bird: Ptera
Tankiest Bird: Quetz
Heaviest Damage Dealer: Giga or Lightning Wyvern
Fast on land tame: Megaloceros
Best Gathering tames \/

• Wood:Beaver or Thorny Dragon
• Metal: Anky
• Thatch: Megaloceros
• Stone/Sand: Rock Elemental

There are many others but that's the main list upon first evaluation.
