  1. I don't think current PC (Steam) will be playing with Xbox. It will require the Windows Store version of the game, which will be different than the Steam version. As Jat said earlier in this thread, they are different games, though they seem the same. If I am wrong, please correct me and provide a link to support it, but anytime they talk about cross play it specifically references Windows Store version.
  2. @Titus @KiolLman @Zed38 I invite you all step out of your conspiracy theories for a minute and into a new player's experience. You just bought the game and log in, you don't like PVP from bad experiences in other games and decide to try out PvE. You load on to the server and arrive on a beach. You start running around and the starve alert goes off, you make a campfire and try to place it... to close to another player's foundation. You go up over a hill and as far as you can see Pillars all around a huge base. Or maybe you spawn in and you are inside of or under someones base. Behemoth gates surrounding you. You try to figure out how to get out and can't. You can't harvest enough stuff to make anything to level, you can't figure the maze out to get out, you probably don't even realize that you should get out because you're new to the game. You starve to death and respawn in another spot, again surrounded by gates, but this time they have left signs telling you to go up the stairs and through the greenhouse. You go and start trying to build a hut to stay the night. You can't place a foundation/campfire/sleeping bag anywhere because its all pillared. The current PvE servers are full of this and I've experienced both (also been spawn locked literally inside of someone's gate so I couldn't even move, trouble tickets do nothing for the stack of bodies stuck in the gate). The new servers may get there, but at least those trying the game out in the beginning will have a chance to build and explore. If you're concerned about your server then talk to the people on there and see if they are leaving or not. Do something to make the server inviting to new people. Or just stop playing for a few weeks and wait for new servers and quit whining about it on the forums. New PvE clusters are necessary and I have no fears of the existing servers I play on going away. You also may want to go read the Kotoku article where they claim Wildcard was ready to announce a complete launch and had a change of mind, instead deciding to go with a data transfer to new infrastructure supporting better network security and server performance. The legacy servers will be just fine resource-wise, you can put your tinfoil hats away. The trade market may or may not bloom, but that it up to people the run the trade markets and what they want to do. If your server has an average 10 online, that is nowhere near the status of "remained near-zero for an extended duration of time" and I doubt you will need to be concerned.
  3. Interesting that on all of the "If they wipe PvE, I quit" threads no one ever talked about the trade market. It was all about how many hours they had building up and taming and breeding because they thought it was safe. People that have this investment is what will keep legacy servers fine. You two are making mountains out of mole hills IMO. If your server is that inactive, then maybe start looking for a new one. The few that I play on are all pretty active with average between 8-30 people on at any given time and according to what was said that is outside of the close to zero activity level. Be pessimists if you need to be, but I am optimistic that there will be no impact on my servers. edit: If I were a trader, then maybe I would share your concern. The market on legacy may dry up. I'm not a trader, I don't mind trading for things, but it doesn't matter to my play style on PvE.
  4. If you are on an active PvE server and they all feel things are fine, then why would they leave? Almost all of the whining I saw about 'If they wipe then I quit!' came from PvE because of the hours invested. If they feel that way, then they should stay and the server remain active and your point is moot. If your PvE server is so toxic everyone wants to leave and it will die off, then you (collective you as in your server) shouldn't have pillared everything and been a tool. I'd love to hear why people will leave if they love their server! Don't say the new hotness, because that will be short lived and they will come back to their leveled characters, herds of tames and rp builds.
  5. I am glad to hear about the PvE decision, though it doesn't really impact me a lot. I am absolutely amazed at all of the people still whining about "slow wipe" and so on. If you have a decent size tribe and play, your server should be fine. If you're the sole survivor on your server any time you get on, then maybe consider moving because you may be headed for extinction. I fully expect the solutions provided to maintain a solid player base of existing servers and booming new servers. I want to see the Alphas go ham against one another and use up all of their duped goodies once they can't get any more (even before then I would be ok with it). If duping is fixed, the imbalance will work itself out. Kudos to the Wildcard team, I think you've made the right decision. Now please quit reading comments and go fix the bugs and stability issues.
  6. You hear about it a lot more on PvP because people show up with "God Rex" raids and thousands of C4 and unlimited ascendant items with 700% fabi snipers... In PvE if someone has hundreds of tek foundations... so what? All they can do it out build you. It just doesn't matter as much in PvE so you don't hear about it as much.
  7. Is there no option to host locally? Or its just not advertised as much right now for more official partnership reasons?
  8. Will existing (soon to be Legacy) PvP servers have to wait until 8 August for the new code with duping fixes (assuming that they are getting that new code) and will any action be taken against all of the duped items or is that still untraceable without a streamer making a dumb mistake or a developer searching every vault? For what its worth, I think this is about the ideal situation assuming duping is really fixed on release. It would be nice to have new PvE clusters as well to give new people the chance to come in and build without having to figure out to get out of the spawn locked bases or weed their way through the pillar farms with some a-hole self-proclaimed "alpha" telling them to go find space somewhere else. Day 1 of Rag on PC had huge fields of pillars with either ladders, where they were nice/smart enough, or foundations where they decided to block resource spawns.
  9. Now if we could just keep the servers online and fix the lag issues.
