Indeed, the option of augmenting the distance from wich a player can be away from the host on a non dedicated or co op server is not working on ARK Survival Ascended. The problem : In the setting, the options of tether distance does show up and you can slide it to augment or change the number however it doesnt translate the change in the game. Therefore, whatever the setting value for the tether distance is, the players that are not host have only 180 meters to explore and play experience the game. Why is this a big issue ? : This is a huge issue for the people who wants to experience this new version of Ark with a friend or a family member because it limits the playability of the game itself. Also, it removes the possibility of having an enjoyable and calm experience with a partner in a private world of their own. Tether distance in Ark Survival Evolved : What is strange is the this setting does works on ASE. I have used it constantly in my own non-dedicated server or co-op maps and it was working just fine. My own experience on ARK : Personnaly, i have never liked the experience of the big servers either official or non official. Also, i never trusted or liked starting a game on a server even if it is one of my friend because of the risk of losing the saves or the permentant closing of it wich would therfore reasult in all the memories contained in that world being lost. Therefore, It is why I always preferd to have my own world where i know all my time i put in the game will safely be saved in thoses world that i can always go back to. Thoses private world are for me treasures that hold all the fun interaction and adventure i have experienced with my friend. But this bug doenst allow that possibility of having a casual but meaningfull adventure with a partner... Conclusion : In short, this is why the theter distance should be fixed because i know im not the only one who poured hundres of hours to create and experience and memories that brings thoses feelings of nostaliga that makes me love this game.
