i honestly think the excuse of "this is otter but bigger" has been utterly done to death and is just being used as a cheap scapegoat in absence of anything more substantial to say. with enough creativity you could quite literally go to every submission and find an analogy of "this is X but bigger/faster/slimmer/more colourful/fancier. why are people attacking eachother on account of what decides their vote? everyone has different playstyles, if a creature appeals to them, nobody has any right to come in and say "no, your opinion is dumb, this submission doesn't have elements that benefit me, so it's objectively bad", seriously? it's perfectly alright and much more genuine to say "i just don't like it, sorry" as opposed to trying to mindgame some fatal flaw that's logically applicable to any submission if you squint hard enough just because you want to bring someone down. ARK's diversity is insane, you'd be hard pressed to find something truly unique and useful on all fronts (looks, mechanics, taming etc) and even in that scenario, it's WC's decision on whether or not it keeps said uniqueness. and what's this about using socials to promote? there's literally at least two people constantly stalking replies just to downvote whoever has something positive to say (which will undoubtedly include this post lol), that's acceptable and righteous? it's sad how something done for fun and for the community invariably turns into a battleground because "if they're not with us they're against us"
