ARK CENOZOIC - INTRODUCTION

Suggestion

Ark Cenozoic is a luscious but dangerous expansion with many dangerous creatures and environments. There is something different about this ark however, that is the absence of dinosaurs and the surge of large megafauna of the Cenozoic time period. Explore the vast lands of the Cenozoic containing many different biomes from the lush jungles to the freezing tundra, tackle Cenozoic creatures some familiar and some new, challenge mother nature's wrath, but most importantly reach ascension by defeating the elder guardians of these treacherous lands.

Map Wide Events:

Revamps of old weather events:

Electrical Storm:

  • whole map is engulfed with rain, lightning and dark clouds
  • flyers fly 10% slower
  • lightning volleys strike regularly throughout the map
  • lightning strikes deal a lot of damage and set targets on fire
  • lightning damage is increased

following things are disabled:

  • guns
  • turrets
  • tek
  • generators
  • most machinery

powers wind turbines faster
lasts 1 in game day cycle

Cold Snap: 

  • most of the map gets covered in snow and ice
  • all lakes, rivers, and water sources freeze
  • only non-frozen water available is the ocean
  • temperatures drop below zero
  • blizzards slightly blind things caught in it
  • tundra creatures begin spawning throughout the map
  • outback and desert become unchanged
  • outback lake is the only lake that remains unfrozen
  • caves are areas not affected

following things are disabled:

  • hatching eggs
  • growing crops
  • irrigation
  • breeding

buffs creatures certain creatures
lasts 1-2 in game day cycles

Heatwave:

  • all water sources dry up making lakes and rivers recede
  • temperature increases significantly
  • sandstorms become frequent in desert and outback
  • ocean is unaffected
  • tundra biome recedes
  • desert creatures begin spawning throughout the map but only in the non-tundra regions
  • caves are areas not affected

following things are disabled:

  • refrigeration/preserving
  • growing crops

buffs certain creatures
lasts 1-2 in game day cycles

New world events:

Locust Invasion:

  • locusts swarm the lands like a living sandstorm
  • anything caught in present swarms will be slowed and have their stamina and health slowly drained
  • dead bodies and death drops decompose at an exponentially high rate

following things are disabled:

  • growing crops
  • natural tree regrowth
  • +lessens creature spawns

Megatherium are permanently raged
lasts 1 in game day cycle

Flash Flood:

  • entirety of the map is mostly flooded with water
  • everything sunken or partially flooded
  • caves are fully flooded
  • water creatures begin spawning throughout the map
  • areas of high elevation are safe
  • does not affect structures

lasts around 2-3 in game day cycles

TLCs:

Chalicotherium:

[siege mount that has more utility and can be a long range threat]

  • size 25% increase
  • weight of all catapult ammunition is reduced by 50%
  • saddle allows for 2 riders
  • saddle allows to craft catapult ammunition
  • can switch between a short hurl or long throw:
  • short throw is rolls projectiles forward
  • long throw hurls projectiles with more accuracy, range and damage but has a longer windup time and throw animation
  • if target has <250 drag weight, they get stunned briefly and dismounted if hit with the long throw
  • projectiles have the same properties as catapult ammunition (can knock out Karkinos, etc.)
  • essentially a mobile catapult

Doedicurus

[more mobile and roll now has more functionality]

  • melee and ranged deal -50% less damage
  • health 10% increase
  • speed 5% increase (roll speed 15% increase)
  • saddle now allows for more functionality with the roll, the doed becoming a wheel of some sort
  • the player can use weaponry on the back while rolling
  • rolling now easier to maneuver and control
  • rolling over creatures suffer trample damage

Megaloceros

[differentiating the two genders; females more mobile and males more built for war]

  • gender differences:
  • females:
  • speed 25% increase
  • can do a mid-sprint strafe which allows for a quick dash to the side while sprinting forwards
  • gather resources better and reduce thatch and wood by 25%
  • males:
  • health, damage, and size 25% increase
  • 25% chance to bleed targets
  • 70% damage reduction when hit in the antlers
  • antlers are significantly bigger
  • can go into defensive stance, positioning antlers forward and allows for turning on the spot

[more utility and infiltration abilities]

  • health and damage 10% increase
  • player can now have 2 mesos as shouldermounts
  • ignores all trap and turret types
  • can climb walls
  • can unlock any door type
  • spawns in groups of 2-3 in the wild

Onyc

[useful shouldermount helpful in elevations]

  • health 10% increase
  • now a shoulder mount
  • now tamed with blood bags
  • when mounted, players can perform a double jump
  • players jumps are higher
  • negates fall damage

Direwolf

[stronger with the armor bonus and being more suited for long distance, differentiating from the saber]

  • stamina regeneration 25% increase
  • now has a craftable saddle at level 25
  • no longer consumes stamina while sprinting
  • can track wild dinos and enemy pathing passively
  • has slight lifesteal 25%

Sabertooth

[more useful in combat and ambushes]

  • speed -10% decrease
  • size 25% increase, bigger than direwolves
  • has a new prone ability which allows the saber to lay low and be able to pounce and slow small-medium sized victims
  • pounce damages and slows
  • prone mode makes the saber very slow but after a couple seconds, turns invisible
  • sabers initial hit to an enemy will do a 50% increased amount

[viability increase in water]

  • size increased by 10%
  • actively swims in the wild and tamed
  • deals 100% increased damage towards water creatures
  • any creature in the water becomes highlighted when mounted
  • will slightly increase player swimming speed

Pelagornis

[viability in both air and water traversal]

  • weight and stamina 25% increase
  • size 25% increase
  • actively swims in the wild and tamed
  • deals 100% increased damage towards water creatures
  • can dive bomb into the water which will toggle dive mode which allows for the pelagornis to swim in the water; leaving the water returns to flight
  • dive bomb similar to the griffin
  • rider weaponry enabled

Carbonemys

[has a way to protect itself and more utility]

  • now passively produces keratin
  • can hide inside its shell
  • can squirt a water spout which knocks back small creatures and put out fires
  • immune to stuns

Phiomia

[worth taming and more viable overall]

  • health, speed, and damage 25% increase
  • berries and poop are reduced by 50% in its inventory
  • can passively gather berries while set on wandering
  • can be ridden without a saddle
  • can attack while moving

Titanoboa

[more utility, can be useful for tanking and stalling]

  • health and speed 25% increase
  • size 50% increase
  • secondary ability called constrict (similar to Deinonychus pounce)
  • it will wrap around creatures and will drain oxygen and stamina
  • only can wrap around creatures that are smaller than it
  • stops constricting if Titanoboa stamina is depleted
  • Titanoboa takes 50% reduced damage while constricting
  • no longer inflicts torpor bites
  • passively highlights eggs in the vicinity and can collect them set wandering
  • cannot be ridden

  • health increased 15% and size 10%
  • can now equip offhand weapons, like shields

Hyaenadon

  • damage increased 15%
  • can vary in sizes, some can get as big as dire wolves
  • deals 25% more damage to creatures who have <50% health
  • creatures with <50% health will be highlighted when in vicinity

Megalania

  • speed 50% increase
  • no longer consumes stamina while climbing
  • can be ridden without a saddle, but riding without a saddle does not allow climbing
  • has a secondary claw attack
  • does 100% more damage to mammalian creatures

Wooly Mammoth

  • drum buff 25% more effective

Paraceratherium

  • health and size 10% increase

Terror Bird

  • gets a pack buff with an alpha
  • slow fall is toggleable
  • deals more damage the lesser the drag weight
  • can pick up small creatures in its beak (includes players)

Ovis

  • can passively gather veggies and fruits if set on wandering

Dinopithecus

  • can throw other things than poop and grenades like oil urns, smoke bombs, etc

Lymantria

  • passively produces silk
  • can latch onto walls and recover stamina
  • slow clouds now deal damage
  • if attacking using secondary, it will shoot string forwards dealing damage and slowing targets

Araneo

  • can climb walls and jump
  • web attack now is more of a stun instead of just a slow
  • passively produces silk
  • can spoil meat in inventory

Andrewsarcus

  • health and stamina -15% decrease

Basilosaurus

  • health -15% decrease

Desmodus

  • stamina and health -15% decrease

  • slingshot rework

UPDATE 4 : GREEN THUMBS:
