Aethiocarenus burmanicus - an exotic insect from mid-Cretaceous Myanmar amber - YouTube

Aethiocarenus

In real life

in real life aethiocarenus was a small insect from the late cretaceous, That likely used toxins to deter predators.

In ark

in ark they will live in groups and the area where they live is usually one big cloud of smoke. They will be a little bit bigger than a dire wolf and be able to climb walls. They will be aggressive in numbers and you will sometimes see an aethiocarenus dragging a dead animal towards their nest

Abilities

Smoke

From the holes on its back it can make large trails of smoke that when in groups can occupy an entire field. This smoke obstructs vision to anyone who is not riding an aethiocarenus or desmodus.

Gas

the gas clouds work similar to the smoke clouds except they are smaller and do damage to anything caught inside of them. A perfect tool to smoke people out of a base.

Infrared

it can see in infrared making it easy to spot its targets in the smoke.

Taming

to tame one you will have to run into a colony find a larvae in the smoke and run for your live as these animals are not to keen on visitors
