Suggestion

The comfort of your base everywhere ! Advanced survivors need advanced dinos,
get yourself a living hydro power plant : the
Aquilarhinus.

NEVER RUN OUT OF ENERGY

On an archipelago like The Center, water is everywhere. Even on land !
It's an underrated resource in itself, found not just in the ocean but also in its many jungles, large swamps, and glorious waterfalls.
Take advantage of the setting of the map, and turn water into a renewable source of energy for your base, your camp, your trap or your FOB !

Look below for a breakdown of its abilities !

WILD
In many ways, herbivores are the hidden gems of the Arks. No matter where I go, they are always the most inventive creatures, probably out of necessity in a world so hostile.
This includes the Aquilarhinus, a rather large Hadrosaur that has developed creative ways to keep itself safe... by using electricity as a repellent ! Under the right circumstances, this is rather radical but efficient.
If you approach the Aquilarhinus calmly, you’ll find that it doesn’t have a mean bone in its large body. Not for a lack of bones !
They are probably at their most impressive at night, when they gather to sleep in groups. I don’t know that it’s the best idea to wake them up, but they make for a lovely spectacle from a distance...

DOMESTICATED
Driven by its voracious appetite for fungi, it turns out that the Aquilarhinus is much easier to befriend than I had anticipated.
Provided with care (and water) in abundance, the Aquilarhinus turns surviving into living.
During my travels, I ran into what I can only describe as a nomadic city. They were not limited in the same ways as I was to cook large amounts of food, provide infrastructure, or repair advanced tools. The key to their comfort on the road was their domestication of the Aquilarhinus.
One thing I learned later that day, however, is that for the same reasons it proves to be an invaluable creature, the Aquilarhinus should also NEVER be left unattended.

AQUILARHINUS-Dossier-FINAL.png

The Aquilarhinus is the one of the few large creatures spawning on beaches. It stays where the water is !
It favors warmer climates but can be found occasionally on the beaches of colder areas.

With the Aquilarhinus, you don't live where your generator is : the generator lives with you.

Access to water is, ideally, natural sources of water (ocean, lake, river, etc.), which will be sustainable as long as the Aquilarhinus is kept safe.
But ! It can also be filled water containers in its inventory, though that will require constant monitoring.

The engram for its saddle is unlocked late in the game, because otherwise, a wireless gasoline generator would be way too OP !

AQUILARHINUS-Abilities-Saddle.png

The Aquilarhinus' main attack depends on whether its saddle is "switched on" :

The Aquilarhinus comes with a personality quirk : it behaves differently depending on the night/day cycle !

The taming methods for the Aquilarhinus are not very complicated, but there are two of them and they yield different results.

AQUILARHINUS-Abilities-Taming.png

Like the Chalicotherium's, the passive tame of the Aquilarhinus can never be ruined. We have enough problems as it is.

AQUILARHINUS-Abilities-Weight-Reduction.

Lastly, the Aquilarhinus has a gathering ability that lets it dig the soil on any map, and find mushrooms there !

AQUILARHINUS-Abilities-Foraging.png

The foraging ability is slightly less convenient than harvesting, because you can do it anywhere, even if no mushrooms assets are around.
But it guarantees access to mushrooms wherever you are, and even some chance of finding chitin.
This will be useful in case the remaster doesn't bring DLC resources to The Center. And, well, people transfer maps, anyway.

Why you should vote for the Aquilarhinus
- Hadrosaurs are cool ! And ASA could use more creatures that are not badass killers, for a change. This is my contribution to that effort
- Day/night behavior and TWO taming methods, for more immersive gameplay
- Use water access and/or water containers for a brand new purpose
- Find mushrooms and small amounts of chitin by foraging anywhere
- New electricity-based attack : the electrical pushback !
- The mobile generator expands nomadic gameplay and/or raids

PS : having two different ideas for The Center, a map I like very much but in dire need of a TLC, I decided to submit two creatures this time.
I thought it'd be fun to be in a competition with myself, see what people respond to. Please also check out the Sinopterus 🥰

intresting design but why would we need this in Ark ?

A generator you can take anywhere ? There's lots of uses for that imho :) I tried to outline a few in my presentation.

A creature is easier to protect than a static generator : you can move it during a raid, put it on aggressive/neutral so that it dispatches threats, etc.
It's also interesting if you want nomadic gameplay, for example in PvE. You're not bound to a static base, and "all" it takes is having access to water for it to run.

I'm of the mindset, in general, that anything worth doing in Ark should be doable with a dino. It's more fun to have a creature than to have a generator that's buzzing all day ! \o/

really like the idea. Kind of wished we had hydro power in ark. I mean we have windmills. But no solar or hydro power :/ But we may need structures that do this too.

Honestly we don't know what ASA will bring. With a different engine, water management might just become more complex. Especially if we show interest for things like that.
So for instance, if we make it known that we want a creature with hydro power, that might lead to the implementation of some mechanics.

Solar power is also sorely missing, I agree. In general, I feel like this would perfectly fill a technological gap that exists at the stone age, where you have a more solid base but not quite the industrial equipment yet.

I love this so much! also a really great creature for people who like to play the game as a nomad! now being able to have a mobile generator is so handy for those type of players!

I'm a HUGE proponent of nomadic gameplay ! I think platform saddles should be seen as the beginning of expanding that aspect of gameplay, and mobile/living benches are absolutely something the game should be added. We have mobile mortars and mobile smithies afterall, no ?
Glad you like the Aquilarhinus, I hope you'll vote for it once you have enough comments posted :)

I like the idea, but I'm not convinced by the idea of it being a walking generator for the creature style, it should be more like an electric eel or something like that...

You know, that's fair. But at this stage of what we know of ASA, an underwater generator wouldn't have a lot of use. I would love nothing more than for WildCard to incentivize building underwater more, to be honest, but I don't think this is the case as long as you need the tek tier to build a base underwater (at which stage you have a tek generator anyway).
So with this in mind, and given how little we know about ASA, I think a land creature is more appropriate.

It's so well thought out!

Also congrats, you're getting so close!

Yes, still 14th place ! (and we'd only need 3 more votes to tie with the 13th place again)
Thank you for the compliment :) I'm so happily surprised that it's holding so well with all the submissions !

This ia a great concept. I wish more people would choose non-combat creatures. We also need utility creatures

Thank you for the compliment ! That is my wish too. And it's not like that makes them defenseless either.
We could have so much more variety than another OP beast of some kind :)

I already commented but honestly not every creature needs to be a giant apex predator or have 10000 things it can do ! this is a great design filling a niche and representing the underrepresented herbis

Hehe, I'm fine with more comments when they're positive XD
I agree, there is no appeal imho in new submissions that could do what 5 existing creatures already do, for instance. We have those already ! We don't need a creature that can replace and/or take over the ones we love and play with at the moment.

You submission achieves both those things exceptionally well. I also presented a concept for a mobile generator creature however your concept goes way beyond mine, so I’ll definitely be throwing in my support. Best of luck making it to the top 10!

Oh this is so sweet of you to say ! I really appreciate that, as I tried to work hard on it. Of course so many people worked hard on their submission, and there are so many of them, that I really didn't expect so much positive feedback.
Thank you so much !

Went to check yours (if anyone wants to look, it's the Centrosaurus), I think you did a good job too !
