Pvp small tribes

Has anyone else found it extremely difficult to get any advanced pvp in small tribes? I know these servers are ark on hard mode before anyone says anything. Balancing real life commitments with a video game is always going to be difficult but we've found the boat life on rag helps keep your items and gear safe. Just last night two of us were trying to raid a mid sized tribe outpost on foot wearing only prim armour and weapons and ended up getting teamed against. This guy had two pteras, wyverns, argie and a rex and still got assistance in global by another alpha with wyverns. Omg mate had to leg it pretty quick back to the boats. In conclusion raiding and pvp is fun but being set back to zero once to twice a week gets a bit old and simple raiding gets old after a while. We really want to get some more advanced tame pvp and base building happening.  Has anybody got any tips to start getting to mid size base on small tribes? Sorry for the rant.
