  1. In the past day since the big Extinction patch, I've been unlucky enough to find a couple unwanted changes: 1. Anky now gathers berries with main attack... eww! This is the same reason why people would rather use a lvl 5 Theri over a lvl 300 Mammoth to gather wood. I hope this change with Anky wasn't intentional. It's not game breaking (and not nearly as trollish as giving away an RTX 2080ti on a livestream for a game that constantly bluescreens on RTX hardware), but this is something completely unnecessary and unwanted. 2. Items in folders now get moved when using "Transfer All"... This is another feature i hope is an accident. The only reason I use folders at all is to transfer all the meat from grills while leaving behind the gas. It was already bad enough that "drop all" drops items in folders, but now both drop and transfer all are broken. please fix. --- so only two things to complain about. I love that dropped items no longer bounce around, and some sounds have been updated which is a nice touch. --
  2. I don't know if this is the case for every official PVE server but I still notice some weird things in ark. I am not going to call them an Error but they are definitely things that leave your head scratching. Here are some of the things that i am still unable to understand or that i believe they are weird: 1. Building issues in Icebergs. This is my personal weird thing since i move to the island map. I build an entire base on the iceberg that looks like an inverted cone behind the Blue obelisk but when i need to build in the base of the iceberg it says that is too far up from the ground even when i put Aberration cliff platforms on the base. 2. Am i the only one who thinks that tek generator should be able to function to replace all cable systems on the base? i mean, all i am saying is that the limit of the range shouldn't affect the element consumption. that would get rid of some rendering issues and it would actually make more sense as it is supposedly a better generator than the normal one. not to mention it would mean that people would not need to build so many unnecessarily big bases since you wouldn't need to make a ton of normal troughs around the base to feed your 500 dinos. Also, it would make pvp more fun as one tek generator would be the priority to destroy inside a base because that would be the main thing to destroy...definitely would improve the game in both pve and pvp. 3. Should Tek armor need element to run? I think it shouldn't be the case. Hear me out! How much more fun would be to just fly around the base with the tek armor to do your boring tasks? not to mention that people barely use it because it uses element like crazy. So the best armor is...practically an aesthetics ware rather than a practical one. It is expensive to build (compare to other) yet we rather walk with other armors as this one is just too expensive to keep using for what it actually does. 4. Tek dinos...what is the purpose of this? I am still wondering what this are for... they dont do anything new, nor have a special trait other than they start a bit higher level... something that to those who already have rexes with 20k hp+ and 800 melee is more that pointless to work on the stats...either in pve or pvp... just a weird addition. Dont get me wrong, I like the tek Rex and Tek Raptor but...usless...unless you are new but even then it would be just easier to find someone who sells you a good fert rex egg and start from high stats now. (this is in regards to official play) 5. Am I the only one who thinks that the spino spawn on the island should be double? I mean, i play often and i am only able to find about 10 spinos per week...it is a DILO kinna thing. 6. Thylas not allowed in boss...is just weird. just saying! 😛 7. Gigas are pretty usless...on pve. Maybe they should be allowed in bosses 😛 (at least 1) i know it would make things a lot easier but dang it...takes two weeks to grow 1 and all they do is farm meat...are you kidding me?! lol Well, this are some of my own personal DILO/weird things i still see happening or that are part of ark.   3. Hello! As an avid solo/ duo player in ark, ive amassed around 600 or so hours playing the game. Each time playing the game, i spend multiple hours building up my fort, taming my dinos, and building fortifications. Each and every single time i play it all starts and ends the same way; i start playing, build up, and then when i wake up next morning to get on and play once again, some out of server raider or the alpha of my server comes and wipes my house. Ive tried changing servers; even went to the most unpopulated servers in game, with huge ping. This did nothing, and out of server raiders still came in and wiped my weeks worth of work. On many servers, the Alphas simply WOULDN'T allow me to build. Many times they'd seek out my base and wipe it, no matter the server i was on. Recently, i spent another week attempting to build my base with a couple friends. This server was extremely friendly, each and every person, including the alphas, created alliances with me and my tribe. Everything was perfect; we tamed multiple high level dinos, and were finally getting back to some of our old powers. Sadly, just today, i logged back on after getting a measly six hours of sleep due to fears of my base being raided, and boom. My entire base, every single high level dino of which i spent hours taming, and all of my stuff, gone. I had a level 147 therizinosaur, a level 153 Carno, and multiple other high level dinosaurs. We were raided simply by an out of server raider on a level 318 Thyla. No other animals, just that. If a level 318 thyla can fight off an entire base, with multiple high level dinosaurs and plant x firing on it, something is wrong. Small tribes DON'T have enough power. It takes quite literally FOREVER to get to a state where one is unraidable, and even with that some high level out of server raider or the alpha of said server will just come in with his/her extremely high level dinos and slaughter. There is NO counterplay. In short, Studio Wildcard, please find a way to give smaller, lower level tribes more power in PvP servers. I love your game, but the one thing soiling it for me right now is high level raiders coming in and wiping everything. I want to play on PvP. PvP is the original Ark experience, and its whats most fun for me. The only problem is that giant tribes have TOO much power in the game, becoming the police force of a server/multiple servers. Please, do something to make smaller tribes more powerful. As myself, I CANNOT contest against a tribe with upwards of 20 people, and i myself do not wish to join an Alpha tribe to protect me; that playstyle simply is the most boring thing ever. Typically in an Alpha tribe, one cannot build, only collect resources for wars or other stupid tasks. Some potential ideas to fix this problem is: Changing resource gain rates for tribes with smaller people. If you have one person, you collect resources at a greater amount. If you are a tribe of two, at a slightly slower amount, and so on. A tribe of 20 will have more difficulty collecting resources, and therefore the smaller tribes have a higher capability of surviving in the cold, harsh world. Maybe also increase tame/ incubation rates for smaller tribes, allowing them to tame a multitude of animals faster to try and combat the higher alpha tribes. This system of balancing would be greater and more difficult to abuse then what is going on now; Right now, Alpha tribes are uncontested, unless if its by another alpha tribe. If someone leaves the tribe to go and get larger amounts of resources, then therefore they lose the ability to be in the tribe and use the dinos of the tribe. Another potential idea is to simply give smaller tribes an ability to turn off PvP for a certain amount of time. The tribe sets a time, activates it, and that tribe cannot raid anyone yet also cannot be raided. Give this ability to tribes smaller than 4-5, and that'll add a whole additional layer of strategy to the game and allow smaller tribes to thrive. Maybe have it so that when the tribe first builds its generator or something, itll give them the ability to turn off PvP. Have this ability use resources potentially; such as fuel, so that there is a drawback to having this ability online. A cool design for this could simply be just a whole new engram to learn; the forcefield. It would create a bubble around your house, that noone can enter but noone can exit also. The larger the field, the more resources required. However, this would be a ton of work, and hard to commit to. The best idea for this is to simply give small tribes the ability to turn off PvP, either for resources or as a balancing addition. In short, i'm attempting to speak out for the vast, silent majority of players in Ark. Ark servers have a social hierarchy that is simply oppressive; the small majority of Alpha tribes DOMINATE servers, sometimes not allowing smaller tribes to even live on the server. Most Alpha tribes go off server raiding, leaving their home server and wiping another server. Smaller tribes can do absolutely nothing about this problem, and are forced to simply accept their fate without having any action they can commit to saving themselves. This provides for an extremely unsatisfactory experience, and a constant fear in the back of ones mind before they attempt to sleep at night. Weeks worth of work can be demolished in seconds simply because you needed to complete your biological need of sleep, and there was nothing you could do about it. This forces players into a decision that most hate to decide on; either join an Alpha tribe for protection, and therefore have an even more unsatisfactory experience, or quit the game. The second option is one that i do not want to see, since Ark Survival is by far one of my most favorite games. Some of the most fun ive ever had in a videogame was building up a boat base with my friends and sailing to the North, attempting to survive the cold winter days while hunting mammoths for fur and getting metal. Sadly, each of these expeditions ended with a wyvern landing on top of our boat and C4 being strapped on. You can guess what happens after that. So, in conclusion, please grant smaller tribes more power. Be it through faster taming/resource gathering the smaller tribe you are, giving smaller tribes the ability to turn off PvP either for resources or with certain repercussions, or some other change not stated above, smaller tribes require some sort of defense against those who are too powerful in Ark. Please Studio Wildcard. I speak for the majority. We all love Ark survival, and want to keep playing and enjoying the game for times to come. Just right now, it's getting a little hard.   4. so far I have been playing on pve. I've been playing on it for a few months, there are a few points I would like to throw out there. now before you hate me or dislike this, I am open to thoughts and ideas on this so please stay friendly for a while now, I have played the island for a while as well. am guess for a few months on n off. I have seen a lot of problems and I have feedback. i have seen toxic players who are out right hate full, i have super cool and nice ppl, from some one wanting over 3k poly for a egg to a guy giving me the same egg for free. i have seen dumb things happen. i love this game so far its been good a bit buggy so let me begin with the things i have found that is bad. so far I have seen a lot of unlimited falling or going thru the map bugs on this. I have given some proof of this but it can all work on fixing this by getting all the points in the game with video proof of it that be great. next is the random dc that has been happing, I have heard this for a while but the amount of stuff I have seen lost by a random dc on the back of a dino is pretty high up there. rock drakes, bulb pups and others. next is make it where you can't build right on or by metal, crystal, gems, etc I have seen players come and build little thatch right on top of the metal and stuff just to put it there and log off not to come back many of times hurting players that need that metal. next let's make it were you have flags, ever tribe gets only 2 and places were you can place them around the map, they have a big range, one is the main base, and one for a miner camp. there is a dumb amount of path blocking or mass gates on important paths that lag them out making them hard to use or outright unable to be used freely, this is only if the base doesn't outright cover the path. another point with this is, players, love to seem to build right were the main spawn points are and players get trapped inside there bases or gates traps and stuff. please make it to where if a player spawns within a range you can't build there. this is would help out in pve a lot. when players want to build and block ever were, or when they want to build right on your bases or traps, and thing then claim you're blocking them. this is getting pretty dumb. I really think one of the best things to do is make it so there are pathways that no matter what you can't build on threw out the map. on pvp they would just go base raid you, on pve you can't stop this but report it and get along, very long time to get a reply or nothing happens, so by try you get a new path its block and then it just keeps happing. so now here comes the trolls, the dislike and the ppl calling me an idiot lol. this was just a thought and like I said beforehand I am open to thoughts that could change my ideas into better ones. so please be nice and open to the ideas.
  5. Here are some suggestions to improve the playing of Ark: Create a new dismount command key that defaults with the Use key. This way you don't accidentally dismount from a flyer so often, and also you can use the Use command to perform actions like demolish structures (you can already place them while flying). Optionally use the dismount key for mounting too, so you don't mount a Dino when you're trying to pick up eggs. Make the Tribe and Alliance chat key changeable again (I had these mapped to function keys). Have chat option to block (no pun intended) unreadable text in blocks (like Cyrillic when you're not in Russian locale). Bug, Fix the purple rain bug in Red Wood on Center maps (only been there over 6 months). Add the map tame count and limit to the ESC map data. Add the active player/tribe count to the ESC map data. Add 2x2 walls/ceilings (with 90% of original materials) for quicker loading of bases. I understand that S+ is being implemented, but: - Just make all structures able to pick up - Just make all structures more collision-friendly (a Dino can stick through a wall or rock, but a ceiling can't?)\ Do an update on the weights; we now have eggs that way more than a behemoth wall, and a wooden ladder weighs more than its materials. Do an update on the poop sizes; a Doedi poops almost a quarter of its volume. Likewise for egg sizes (and weights). Have more variation in rain; now there is always lightning, add variable times between rain, add variable length of rain. Disable wandering of Dinos for a small period when coming out of stasis, so they can't get stuck into structures or go through them. Add a suicide pill or command for when completely stuck and not able to kill yourself otherwise, accept when unconscious, or in handcuffs. Because the 3D look of dropped items has been canceled, they should add the icons of the items as textures to the drop boxes. This makes it a lot easier to see what is dropped. In inventory add ALT-T, like CTRL-T and SHIFT-T, to transfer ALL (ALT for ALL) instances of the selected item; so same as entering the name in Search and doing transfer all. Add side-to-side transfer, Now you can only transfer from and to your inventory. By clicking ALT-I on something with an inventory, you use that inventory instead of yours during the next Access Inventory action. It is reset when you move (not rotate), or press I. So, press ALT-I on Mammoth, rotate to vault, press F and the left inventory is the Mammoth inventory; move from Mammoth to vault and vice-versa. Saves on time and on bandwidth of commands send to server. You can create metal walls in the Smithy, and walk away; the crafting continues. This is also possible for thatch structures if you have the BP in the smithy. You can't do this for stone walls/ceilings, etc. because there are no BPs for these structures. Request is to add these BPs. Don't by default demolish existing structures when placing new structures. Only allow snap points that are not used yet. Hold the CTRL button while placing structures that should replace existing structures. Related to that, because of lag, or accidentally moving the cursor when pressing the left mouse button to place a structure, it might end up on the wrong place. Especially pillars are a nightmare to place. When you found the right spot, click the TAB key to lock the structure in place (shown by some color change or border). Then the structure will always be placed at the locked position. Press TAB (or ESC) again to unlock if it wasn't correct. You can create tame groups 0 - 10 for whistle commands, but if you whistle follow all accidentally and the current group is NONE, they will still all response. You could set all dinos to ignore group whistles, but that is a) a lot of work and b) sometimes you want them all to listen. My suggestion is you have to hold a second key for a whistle to become a group whistle. So, for instance, J becomes You Follow, and ALT-J becomes All Follow, U You stop, ALT-U All stop, Comma You Come Here, ALT-Comma All Come Here, etc. (ALT for ALL.) Add option for tames to stop wiggling their tails; it's sometimes hell to pick up eggs, they keep pushing you away. You have to put Oviraptors on wander to get the egg laying buff functionality. Most people just overweight them or put them in a cage. This makes the wandering a bit unnecessary. Either add a separate wheel command, like "Egg buff", or just make it the default behavior. Ditto for Achatina and Dung Beetle. When you want to add a ceiling below a wall, you first have to add another wall beneath this wall, then you can add the ceiling between the two walls, and then you can remove the bottom wall without affecting the ceiling. This is a bit weird, the result would be the same if you allow the ceiling just to be placed below the first single wall. Just add some imaginary snap points. Bug, The sound of a behemoth gate closing is very much out of sync with the graphics animation. When an open gate comes into render range, it is rendered as closed and the open animation starts. Why not render it open? Bug, Can't show extended HUD anymore while pressing SHIFT-W (moving forward fast). Why can't the paint spray automatically refill when empty? I don't choose a new color, just need to press a key. Why can't the region settings of the paint spray be remembered when I mount a Dino or put it away temporarily? Please remove poop bouncing. Just let it drop to the floor, even when there already is some other poop there. We have all kinds of things colliding, so a few turds don't matter. Add different speeds to the elevator. It now takes forever. Add a filter to select stuff to harvest. Enter a string in search field and press Filter button. Now only the resources that match the string are harvested by the Dino or person. Saves a lot of removing of wanted materials. Also saves server access. Add attachments to machines (found in loot crates), like with weapons. Attachments could be: silencer (anti-sound!), turbo (25% faster but uses more gas), etc. Add option to machines to stop after, say, 2 minutes (or before using a new gas resource) when they don't do anything anymore, and only use up gas. Also a player should put in some effort to protect his/her tames with a proper base/fence. Remove the Titanosaurus from PVE to prevent luring them onto bases and aggro-ing them on structures and tames. The client should show some indicator that the connection with the server is suffering from a lag spike, like 2+ seconds of timeout. Force new players to enter a name, instead of having X people called Human or Mensch. If not item 41, then at least allow players below, say level 10, to change their name if they use the default name. Add 'Are you sure?' popup when exiting game. Add 'Are you really, really sure?' popup when creating a new character (and loosing your old). I know there is a button to cancel it, but just for save keep they should at least have 3 levels of 'sureness'. Lock the top 6 slots in your inventory for the Drop/Transfer All commands. So you can place things, like ammo for weapons in the toolbar, that you don't want to transfer accidentally out. You can drop/drag/T items into/from it. Make it optional, default disabled, with a small tick next to it, so you disable it and transfer all when you want to save all stuff. Add this lock tick to the toolbar too, default enabled, so you can also Drop/Transfer All items from the toolbar, when you want to save all stuff. Add two small up/down buttons next to the toolbar to scroll to a second toolbar with different items in the slots. This way you can have a toolbar for, say, fighting, and one for, say, farming. Structure batching like mentioned in: https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/313224-batch-wallsceilings-when-saving-and-loading/ Don't auto-scroll-up in an inventory when the player is transferring or removing items and the bottom of the list is reached. This causes the row above the current row of the selected item to move below the cursor, and suddenly you are removing a completely different type of item. Add some reality to the carrying of animals by Argies/Wyverns etc. Currently the carried animals are mostly flying freely behind the bird. Is it that much work to place them (more) in the claws of the bird? Add some reality to the hit boxes of the animals. For example, if you're on a Basil about 80% of the Basil seems to be biting and hurting other fish, even if they are 5 meters or more away. It's just: move Basil close to fish and hit mouse button rapidly until either fish or finger dies. When the server is saving, it now takes almost 10 seconds on our server for it to respond again. I assume the gathering of data and the saving of the data to a file on disk is done in the same thread as the normal server play. At least move the saving to disk to a separate thread; just copy the data to new memory in game thread, and save it in a new thread. Remove back-culling from the ground faces (don't make the ground transparent if you look under the mesh). This might affect the fps a bit, but prevents (or makes it harder) peeking under the mesh for structures placed above it.
