Thanatotheristes deserti Thanatotheristes is a dinosaur I'd like to see in ARK, first of all, there's only 2 Tyrannosaurids in the game so far and Thana is NOT going to be a Giga sized killer (wow!!!) and I have quite a few neat ideas for it that I hope will earn me your vote! First of all, let's get some general info about Thanatotheristes out of the way! Thanatotheristes is a genus of Tyrannosaurid from the Late Cretaceous around 80MYA. It was approx 8M and 2.5M tall in life (although, like most ark creatures, mine is slightly scaled up) and was discovered in 2008, named in 2010! now, let's get get to the real meat and potatoes of this guy! ABILITIES Bite: A basic bite, not much to say, deals 10x damage to Corrupted creatures Tail Swipe: Swipes it's tail, deals relatively low damage but knocks creatures back a decent amount (does not do extra damage to corrupted) Charged Bite: A charged up mega-bite! Deals 10x damage to corrupted, does more damage based on how long its held but Thana cannot do bite attacks for a short period of time afterwards Headbutt: A headbutt attack that inflicts torpor and does pretty decent damage to boot! (does not do extra damage to corrupted) Corrupt Mimic: All of the "Blue Element" in Thanatotheristes' body quickly changes to a purple colour to mimic the look of The Corrupted. Is ignored by all Corrupted creatures but gradually drains Stamina, like a Rock Drake. Accelerated healing: Thanatotheristes can heal at a rapid rate by eating what would normally be lethal Corrupted Nodules! They will scarf them down and rapidly heal while eating them (think like Ambergris and Magmasaurs or Nameless Venom and Rock Drakes) Taming To earn the trust of the Thanatotheristes you must first entice it with a Corrupted Heart! They simply cannot resist the taste of them! Then, you must complete an OSD or Element Vein, any difficulty will tame one but the harder the difficulty, the higher the Taming Effectiveness! Rejoice Amargasaurus haters! Thanatotheristes cannot be harmed by Friendly Fire and essentially acts as a literal temporary Tame until you either tame it or fail to tame it. Once you finish an OSD with it still by your side, you'll be able to reap this beast's many rewards! Dossier I also wrote a little Dossier for it, since I always find those to be quite fun to read and informative! Give it a read! Common Name: Thanato Species: Thanatotheristes deserti (Death Reaper of The Wasteland) Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Opportunistic Wild: I never thought I'd see a Prehistoric animal on Earth, let alone looking like THIS. They have similar features to the other fauna that exist on Earth; although they are quite well adapted to life in the Wastelands, unlike some of the other animals who are adapted to biome-specific life. The element that has attached to it's body actually works greatly in its favour; it can both regulate the Thanato's temperature and even change colour to blend in with The Corrupted! I've never seen any other animal with this kind of adaptation and it is quite impressive all things considered. Domesticated: Just as they look like quite the oddity, they are tamed oddly too! To tame a Thanato you must first obtain a corrupted heart and feed it do the Thanato. Then, you must aid it in protecting and OSD or Element Vein, both have corrupted for the Thanato to kill. It sounds strange, seeing as corruption is such a potent and infectious form of Element but the Thanato is seemingly perfectly adapted to hunting and consuming The Corrupted, strange.. A tamed Thanato can be very very good for all uses! Due to it's strange adaptation of being immune to The Corruption, they can kill Corrupted animals effortlessly! They can also consume corrupted nodules without being harmed at all, it even invigorates them and regenerates their vitality! Due to their smaller size comparative to some other dinosaurs, they aren't capable of doing as much upfront damage to non-Corrupted creatures but they can still make quite a dent! Having a flurry of abilities and being able to travel the wasteland very well, it is a jack-of-all trades animal perfect for wasteland traversal and Element Vein/OSD protection! I hope you liked my submission for Thanatotheristes! If you liked it, and feel generous enough, please drop a vote! Much appreciated!

TL;DR: Medium sized carnivore / fungivore passive unless touched, secretes toxic threads on its teeth and on quills it can fling at targets, bite and quills inflict slowness while increasing the damage and torpidity a target takes, quills can immobilize small targets and slow larger ones. Also produces Narcotic substitute Toxic Threads, which spoil into Cottonlike Threads used to repair armor and create backup armor that is automatically equipped when armor breaks. Dossier Transcription Common Name: Qianzhou Species: Qianzhousaurus radiorumtextor Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore / Fungivore Temperament: Aggressive (when touched) Wild A species of Tyrannosaurid once only considered peculiar due to its abnormally elongated head, the Qianzhousaurus radiorumtextor appears to have taken its peculiarities to an entirely new level. Most commonly found where mushrooms grow in abundance, though the Qianzhou has been observed hunting many kinds of prey less than half the size of a person, it is in fact mostly fungivorous and will usually ignore anyone within its vicinity. Unless touched, which seems to send it into an instantaneously aggressive state. The Qianzhou oddly secretes a kind of toxin coated thread from each of its many teeth and quills, that upon entering a victim’s bloodstream slows muscles while causing considerable susceptibility to injury alongside amplifying the effects of sedatives. This same thread is also present secreted around the tips of the prominent long quills intermixed amongst the feathers at the end of its tail, that the Qianzhou can fling towards adversaries to pin smaller creatures including humans while hindering larger creatures that are hit by the quills. Domesticated Some individuals who dwell near significant fungi concentrations have somehow managed to domesticate these otherwise touch intolerant creatures to such extents to saddle and ride them, claiming the Qianzhou approached them whilst they ate mushrooms in a kind of curious jealousy, then gained its trust with enough care not to touch it while feeding it a variety of fungi. A domesticated Qianzhou offers a versatile array of functions with its unique secreted thread foremost amongst them, able to be used at both range using its quills or intermixed within its bite. Interestingly it appears the Qianzhou’s thread eventually dries into a toxin devoid substance similar to threads of cotton, that I have observed some survivors create protective inner clothing from that provides both additional physical protection and protection from various poisons, venoms and toxins. Abilities List Primary Attack (Left Mouse): A wide sweeping sideways angled bite that damages a wide area in front of the Qianzhou. Causes the “Qianzhou Toxin” debuff for multiple seconds, increasing incoming damage and torpidity inflicted whilst also inflicting slowness. Secondary Attack (Right Mouse): A tailsweep that launches a few large quills off the tail forwards towards a target, which entirely immobilizes all creatures with a drag weight low enough to be carried by a Karkinos for a certain number of seconds, while significantly slowing larger creatures for a shorter amount of time. Also causes the “Qianzhou Toxin” debuff. (C Key): A shoulder slam with significant knockback, useful for distancing attackers to use the ranged attack, but highly dangerous to survivors especially during the taming process due to the risk of being pushed into other threats. (X Key): A 360 degree spin releasing a quill in every direction, each quill causes damage and might cause the “Qianzhou Toxin” debuff, but only immobilizes creatures with a drag weight low enough to be carried by a Megalosaurus. Passive Utility: Produces “Toxic Thread” within its inventory over time that can be used as a substitute for Narcotic or as a new intermediate between it and Bio Toxin. When Toxic Thread spoils it turns into “Cottonlike Thread” which doesn't spoil and can be used to create the “Cottonlike” set of backup armor. Cottonlike Thread can also either repair any armor to 50% durability within the Qianzhou’s inventory, or be used as a substitute for Hide. Taming A specific passive tame that leaves the survivor rather vulnerable during the process and requires no shortage of attention. Specifically the process entails crouching and eating a mushroom nearby a Qianzhou, causing it to jealousy approach and stare at the survivor as it leans down to look at them directly with a feed prompt appearing as it does. When fed the Qianzhou will randomly do one of three possible actions: -It will stand straight to eat, then lean downwards again allowing another mushroom to be immediately fed. -It will stand straight to eat then swiftly turn around, causing the survivor to either have to quickly crawl to avoid its tail or to suddenly move out of the way. If the survivor doesn’t move, the tail hits them and makes the Qianzhou become aggressive. -It will stand straight to eat, then after a specific delay will lean down to nip the survivor despite not becoming aggressive. If the survivor doesn’t move, all of the mushrooms in their inventory are taken. One random piece of armor is also unequipped (added to inventory or thrown forward, not deleted.) It will then turn around and walk away. All types of mushrooms can be used as regular taming food, with Mushroom Brew being akin to kibble. Alternatively, a randomized mushroom could be required at each feeding interval further adding to the vulnerability of the survivor during the process, as they would have to open their inventory to equip the applicable mushroom each time. Cottonlike Backup Armor Function: Unlike regular armor the Cottonlike set functions as backup armor that is instantly equipped when armor breaks or is removed, giving a survivor a better chance at not dying when their armor is broken or during the process of repairing their armor. Setup: When selected each piece of the Cottonlike set has a new action called “activate”, which when toggled causes the activated backup armor piece to automatically replace armor instantaneously when it is broken or removed. Only one piece for each armor slot can be activated at the same time. Details: The Cottonlike set consists of simple entirely cotton clothing created from Cottonlike Thread within a Qianzhou’s inventory or elsewhere, it having very high durability but protection between cloth and hide armor. Though has the added bonus of reducing incoming torpidity damage from poison-like sources (what Riot armor doesn’t protect against), and when activated has its armor values applied in addition to whatever armor is being worn.
