  1. Foreword: I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for reading this concept. Huge thanks to my little brother for the artwork (I suck at drawing). We worked super hard on it. Enjoy the read! (Sorry about the size of the images, I can't figure out how to make them smaller) Introduction: The Shantungosaurus in real life was as much a beast as it is in this concept. Ranging from 49 to 51 feet in length, and 13 to 16 metric tons in weight, the animal is the largest hadrosaur ever discovered. It lived in what is now modern-day China during the Late Cretaceous period. This species, Shantungosaurus giganteus, is a true force of nature, but now I'll show you what it can do when it's not so grounded in historical and biological restraints. (NOTE that from now on, I might shorten Shantungosaurus to Shant.) Dossier: If I had to write a dossier for the Shantungosaurus, this is it would look like. Common Name: Shantungosaurus Species: Shantungosaurus ferrugiet Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Protective Wild: I've seen Element do some crazy things to some otherwise normal animals. It widens their palates, gives them the power of flight, and even allows them to become high caliber weaponry. But the strangest thing I've seen it do is mimic a device straight out of a sci-fi movie. Unlike other Element-augmented creatures, Shantungosaurus ferrugiet retains most of the traits from its base species. But unlike its abnormally large historic counterpart, the Shantungosaurus expels excess Element by activating special organs in its thick hide that project a holographic shield around itself and its allies. The shield seems to prevent all damage to its' owner until it is broken or wears off. It performs this bizarre act of protection usually when defending its overgrown, underground territory from any interlopers that make the mistake of drawing too nearby. This often includes unlucky survivors, who find themselves stomped to death without any way of dealing damage in return. Domesticated: Between its thick hide and shield, don't expect to be able to knock out a Shant if you don't know where to shoot. It doesn't seem to have as thick of skin on its head though, so keep that in mind if you decide to get a Shant for yourself. If you can somehow manage to subdue this utterly humongous beast, you will find yourself with the most loyal, overprotective, and exceptionally large pet you could ask for. By training the Shant to get along with your other tames, you can convince it to project its shield onto your forces, bolstering their survivability exponentially. Just don't expect it to stand by idly while you go hunting or are being attacked. It can't resist the urge to help out a friend! In the Wild: As described by the Dossier, the Shantungosaurus is a massive animal with a thick hide and enormous health pool that has adapted to Element by using it to project shields. It looks like a really big Iguanodon with thicker hind legs, a sail (not historically accurate) running down the front half of its back, spines running down the rear end of its back (also not historically accurate), and good Element corruption spread sporadically in patches, creating special organs that project the shield. It will wander around the Sunken Forest spread thinly in groups of two to three, slaughtering anything that gets too close. About half the size of a Giga or Carch, its presence at a should be feared and respected just as much. It won't do nearly as much damage as either of those massive carnivores but expect a long fight if you choose to engage them. If you catch one's aggro and don't feel like fighting it, luckily for you the Shantungosaurus moves slower compared to most other mounts, so you can outrun it 80% of the time. Don't try to hide from it in an insufficient shelter, though, because it can damage Stone structures and below. In the wild, it will use its shield much less frequently than it could if it was tame so it won't take forever to kill if you think its too close to your base or you're trying to clear out low levels. Taming: Unlike a lot of newer creatures, the method of taming a Shantungosaurus is relatively straightforward. It is a knockout tame, but to keep things interesting both boulders/cannons and tranquilizers will work. Be sure to aim for the head when using either, unless you want to be knocking it for a really long time. Once knocked, the torpor drain is around half that of a Mosasaurus, but with a much higher torpor pool, it will wake up slower. It will accept all the normal herbivore foods, and its preferred kibble is Extraordinary, but if you have it on hand, you can feed it Element for as high a taming effectiveness as Kibble. Base Stats: Wild Health Pool: 50,000 (give or take) Tamed Health Pool: 25,000. I want the level progression of the Shantungosaurus to be an opposite to the Carch or Giga, with melee leveling poorly and health boosting by a huge margin per level (it needs it to soak all the "shared" damage it takes.) Stamina: 1,250. From a full bar of Stam to empty while sprinting will take as long as a Rex of equal level. Food: 10,000. Drains at an average rate. Oxygen: 500. The Shantungosaurus IS NOT designed to swim! Weight: 1000. The Shantungosaurus' large, sturdy built allows it to carry all sorts of goods and resources before it gets weighed down! Melee Damage: 200%. The Shant's strongest attack will deal the same amount of base damage as a Rex, but attacks much slower. Movement Speed: 100%. In terms of speed, the Shant walks about as fast as a Stego sprint, and runs as fast as a Bronto sprint. Torpidity: 8500. With damage reduction on most parts of the body and such a monstrous torpor bar, the Shant is supposed to be a very high risk-reward tame. If you play with boosted stats or have the guts to tame and breed Shants, the payoff is well worth it. Coming prepared to a tame with a boatload of tranqs/cannonballs and a trap is recommended, but if you're high enough level to tame a Shant, then you'll probably have enough resources on hand anyway. Abilities: Left Click/Right Trigger: Bite/Kick. The Shantungosaurus will bite if the camera is facing forward, and to a kick backward with its hind legs if the camera is facing backwards. It won't do much damage, but can be used in quick succession. The kick will do much more knockback than the bite, but the bite can harvest berries whilst the kick can't harvest anything. Both can break up to Wood. Right Click/Left Trigger: Stomp/Tail Swipe. The Shantungosaurus will rear up on its hind legs and slam its feet down on whatever is in front of it if the camera is facing forward. The attack deals much greater damage than the bite, can harvest thatch and wood, and deals much more knockback, but is a lot slower than the bite. If the camera is facing backward, the Shant will swipe its tail side to side, dealing a moderate amount of damage and incredibly high knockback. It can also harvest thatch and wood and is rather slow. Both can break up to Stone. C/Left Stick: Shield Activation. The Shantungosaurus will rear on its hind feet, but instead of crashing down, it releases a loud roar which fires a pulse in a radius of the Shant. The pulse will activate an effect on whatever is within the radius of the Shantungosaurus (including the Shant itself.) The effect is quite complicated, so I will try to explain it as best I can. The effect lasts for 30 seconds, and the cooldown on effect use is 50 seconds, leaving 20 seconds where creatures have no extra defense. Creatures under the effect of the Shant's shield will take no damage until the shield expires. The shield will expire under two circumstances; the effect wears off, or the shield is broken manually. To break the shield, one must deal damage to it. The shield itself is based on the individual it protects and has half its owner's maximum health. Once this amount of damage has been done, the shield breaks. If the attack that broke it deals more damage than the shield has health left, then the excess is dealt directly to the creature at a 25% damage reduction. The Shant cannot activate the shield again until the effect wears off. Attempting to will drain the entire stamina bar with nothing in return. X/Right Stick: Cosmetic Roar. Does nothing. Looks cool. Because every dino should have one. Uses: Gatherer: Admittedly, the Shant is not designed for gathering resources, but if you have nothing else, it is still far more effective than harvesting by hand. War Mount: The true intended use case of the Shantungosaurus. Whether it be bosses in PvE or enemy tribes in PvP, the Shantungosaurus will make any encounter with an enemy easier thanks to it's shielding ability. Extra Bits: The Shantungosaurus Saddle is unlocked at level 98. Breeding Times: 9 days on official rates. Seems long, but the Giga takes 10! Despite a cosmetic Tek Forcefield-like dome around anything under the Shield effect, it does not change any hitboxes, nor does the dome have it's own hitbox. Groups of Shant will spawn quite infrequently, so they hopefully won't be a terrible nuisance. The shield effect will not work on tamed Titans, but it will work on the Titanosaur. It will work on Allied dinos, but not on Noglin Controlled ones. The Shant Egg has Extraordinary nutritional value! If, for some reason, you have a powered-off Tek Forcefield, a Shantungosaurus, and incoming enemy forces, using the Shant shield pulse can immediately activate the Forcefield with no startup time required (it will still consume Element in the Forcefield at a normal rate.) Afterword: Thank you so much for reading my idea for Extinction's Shantungosaurus! I hope you enjoyed, and consider upvoting. Obviously, I came up with the idea because of the use of Gigas/Carchas in the King Titan boss fight. It seems unfair that you could have hundreds of them and they would all surely die to all but maybe the Gamma King Titan. No one likes losing work, and the implementation of the Shant should help prevent that. Once again, huge thank you to my brother for the artwork. Good luck to all other submissions, and have a wonderful day!
  2. Sinomegaceros pachyosterus 1. Artwork : Art by Emily Stepp, who did an awesome job with this creature! You can see at the bottom the colors and affect of the different mushroom antlers (sorry for the quality, i can't upload pictures with better resolution, but i have the file, if anyone is interrested to see, just ask ) 2. Dossier Text : Common Name: Sinomegaceros Species : Sinomegaceros pachyosterus Time : Pleistocene Diet : Herbivorous Temperament: Neutral (become aggressive when you’re near their fawns) Wild : This majestic deer like creature, relative to the Megaloceros, its truly quite a sight! Their huge shield-like antlers are really setting them apart. But even with their unique antler, it's not what makes them truly special. Sinomegaceros, like deers like to use hallucinogenic mushrooms, but on the Aberration Ark, with the presence of mutagenic molten element, something wonderful (or horrifying happened): They adapted and developed a symbiosis with mushrooms, and consuming one, trigger dormant mutation allowing them to change and use spores of different species of mushrooms, which are at their fullest potential within the Sinomegaceros body. Domesticated: Sinomegaceros is a really useful creature to venture around the Aberration Ark, with several temporary forms induced with different mushrooms and spores. Some forms can get you across molten element region without harm, fend off Reapers and Nameless with charge light, across water, or even turn into an ethereal spore form. Additionally they can protect you from various ill effects from creatures, even heal you. With that they also seem to have developed powerful ways to damage their foes. They are as magnificent as they are creepy, if you really think about it. 3. Taming : To tame a Sinomegaceros, you must feed mushroom brew regularly to a Sinomegaceros fawn to help it grow spores inside its body. The adults will attack you, you have to pacify them with Pachyrhinosaurus, or immobilizing them (net projectiles, bolas, resine from rhyniognatha, freezing with the owl,...), stun them, or tranq them. When taming is at 50%, adults will start to eat a mushroom to turn into one of the mushroom induced forms. At that point, you have to trap them with bear traps, and continue feeding the fawn with mushroom brew. 4. Abilities : All forms are really good climbers like goats and can jump pretty high. They’re immune to all negative effects of spores, Reaper queen “spores”, and poison. Forms are triggered by eating a mushroom, they are temporary. Regular form: Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt with its horns, hold to charge creatures in front of you. Male: Bellow: Herd boost for Sinomegaceros and reduce other Sinomegaceros cooldown. Negate pack boost from enemies. Female: Increase speed, attack speed. X: Shield Antlers. Lower the antlers to reduce damage. Give resistance to nearby allies and “shield” from some effects like fear. Bioluminescent form (Auric mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to emit a charged lightning bolt from antlers that does additional damages to Reaper, seekers, Nameless, Desmodus, Megalosaurus. Male: Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies and “shield” from some effects like fear. X: Flash of light that blind enemies and reveals invisible creatures, stopping them from turning invisible again. Passive: its horns can emit charged light like glow pets. Can charge batteries in their inventory, but increase hunger. Radioactive form (Element branched mushroom spores): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to trigger an explosive radioactive blast from its antlers Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby. Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies and “shield” from some effects like fear. X: Emit a powerful wave of radiation that inflict a more powerful radiation sickness that does more damage, reduce health regeneration, and increase damage from other sources. Additional damages to TEK creatures and affected creatures can’t use teleportation abilities far a time. Passive: The Sinomegaceros and its rider are completely immune to radiation. Infectious form (Rare Mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to trigger an infectious headbutt. The target is plagued with spores that drain its health to heal the Sinomegaceros. Male: Bellow: Increase attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies and “shield” from some effects like fear. X: Parasitic link. Target a creature to lower its stats and increasing your own, can “steal” positive status effects from the target. Passive: Immune to poisons, and vampiric effects. Use spores to eat nearby corpses to heal itself. Soaked form (Aquatic mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to send steam at your target. Inflict damages and Scalded status. And on impact Emit a mist that lowers visibility, like a sandstorm. Extinguish fire, fire based attacks and explosive, while increasing the effects of electric (conduct electricity in all the mist) and ice (freeze targets more easily) based attacks. Trigger hydration bonus for allies that can have it. X: High pressure water blades that cause bleed to creatures around. Additional damages to armors. Passive: fast swimmer, don’t breath underwater. Emit regularly bubbles underwater that can refill your oxygen. Can run on water if you hold space on the surface. Take less damage from fire. Trigger the hydration status while swimming/on water, or when it rains. Water nearby crops. Chilling form (Freezing spores mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to send sharp icicles that slow the target. X: Emit a cold wave that can freeze creatures. Trigger the increased defense status in cold weather. Passive: Protect from hypothermia and cool in hot weather (even on Scorched Earth) and protect from the wasteland status. Increase defense in cold weather. Can trigger an ice trail to run and run on water, slow enemies on contact. Inventory acts like a refrigerator. Symbiotic form (Ascorbic mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to target an ally and establish a symbiotic link. Allow to share positive status (even status triggered by abilities), boost both the target and the Sinomegaceros, and remove negative status for the duration, distance doesn’t matter for the link to work. Male: Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies. X: Healing pulse like Daedon. If corpses are nearby, consume less food to heal. Passive: Resources spoil less quickly in its inventory. Inventory act has a preserving bin. Negative status effects from nearby allies last for a fewer amount of time. Sporulating form (Aggeravic mushroom): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to send waves of torpor inducing spores from the antlers. Male: Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies. X: Turn into a cloud of spores to travel free of constraints, if you target a creature, you can temporarily possess it. Passive: Jump surrounded by spores, hold to float/glide down, doesn’t take any fall damage. You can make fertilizer (with feces and spoiled meat) and refertilizer from its inventory. High-tened form (Hallucinogenic spores): Left Click: Front/back kick depending on where you’re looking. Right Click: Headbutt. Hold to trigger an hallucination that forces creatures to attack a target for a short duration. Male: Bellow: Increase its own attack speed, and increase the melee damage, lower stamina consumption and decrease the cooldown of allies nearby Female: Shield Antlers. Lower the Antlers to greatly reduce damage coming from the front. Give resistance to nearby allies. X: Create a temporary double while concealing itself. The double will roam around if you target the environment or flee if you’re attacked, or attack if you target a creature. Passive: Heighten the senses of the Sinomegaceros to see nearby creatures even through obstacles. 5. Miscellanous : Spawn in the Fertile region. They eat berries in normal form and spoiled meat in mushroom form. Using mushrooms could have effects on the Sinomegaceros, like an addiction/withdrawal, that have different effects depending on if you use the same mushroom or not, for example. Passively gather “spores” while going through mushrooms. You can gather spore clusters from the 5 existing mushroom items or from the three spores hazards in Aberration. You can use several of them to cultivate mushrooms (it's the only way to gather them). Or to craft spore grenades in the Sinomegaceros inventory, that have different effects depending on which kind of spore you’re using. - Like Auric mushroom spore grenade produce a charge light spore cloud that remains for a certain time, lighting the place and doing damage to nocturnal creatures/Reapers and Nameless and blind enemies. -Element branched mushroom spore grenade produce a radioactive cloud of mushroom that remain for a time, doing a few damage, and slowing health regeneration. -Rare mushroom spore grenade produce a toxic cloud of spores that plague enemies, does damage, and lower the damage they make. -Ascorbic mushroom spore grenade heal and remove some negative status effects. -Freezing mushroom spore grenade create a cloud of spores that can freeze. -Aquatic mushroom spore grenade can create a mist of spores that can extinguish fire based attacks, improve lightning and ice attacks and trigger hydration bonus. -The hallucinogenic spore grenade turns wild creatures against each other for a limited time. -The aggevaric spore grenade make you and your tames faster, jump higher, glide when you fall, and remove fall damage. -Each spore type gives a different spore grenade. Each type of spore give a specific mushroom type that you can cultivate. All mushroom give fungal wood, fungal leather (a new resource that can replace hide and fiber), spores of the given mushroom, and different mushroom slime depending on which kind of mushroom you cultivate: -Auric mushroom slime is like angler gel, but can be put on a torch, in campfires and can be dyed to emit a specific color. You can also apply it to tames or players to emit charge light for a time. -Element branched mushroom slime can protect the players and tames from radiation for a time. -Freezing mushroom slime can protect the player and tames from heat and lava for a time. When put into a campfire or on a torch, produce frostfire that can cool down around it. -Aquatic mushroom slime protect from fire and allow to breath water for a time (and give hydration bonus) -Rare mushroom slime can protect players and tames from poison, diseases, “vampiric effects” and spores for a time. -Ascorbic mushroom slime can be used to stop resources from spoiling for a time, and increase health regeneration when applied to the player or a tame and some negative status like bleeding are removed faster. -Aggevaric mushroom slime protects from torpor, can be used as refertilizer, and when applied to a player or tames turn you into spores when “running” allowing you to move free of gravity. -Hallucinogenic mushroom slime protects from fear, mind-control, stun, mammoth roar,... Sinomegaceros, when in a mushroom induced form, can also secrete mushroom slime of the given type by going into the radial menu of the creature, but by doing so, your creature will consume more food. In their regular forms, they looks like deer with unique shield-like antlers, that looks a little like mushrooms. When in a mushroom induced form, their antlers turn into bioluminescent mushrooms each form with its own color and visual effect. Males have mushrooms on their neck and some on their body, while females have glowing patterns on their body. -Bioluminescent form: Golden antlers, with some spores and rays of light effect around the antlers. Golden mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body -Radioactive form: Purple antlers, with some spores and “heat distortion” effect around the antlers. Purple mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Infectious form: Light red antlers, with a lot of spore clouds that seem “heavy” and drip like blood around the antlers. Red mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Soaked form: Blue antlers, with a dripping effect and mist from the antlers. Blue mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Chilling form: White/Really light blue antlers, with some spores and frost effect around the antlers. White/really light blue mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Symbiotic form: Green antlers, with a lot of spore clouds in a halo around the antlers. Green mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Sporulating form: Orange antlers, with spore clouds all around the body. Orange mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. -Hightened form: Light pink antlers, with some spores and waves of rainbow effect around the antlers. Light pink mushrooms/bioluminecent patterns on the body. While “force feeding” a mushroom can change the Sinomegaceros in a mushroom induced form, giving another mushroom of another type change its form, and force feeding a rare flower turns it back into its regular form. Of course the forms being temporary you can also just wait for it to turn back into its regular form. Every form has its own mushroom antlers forms and bioluminescent patterns on their body. The idea for that creature was that I wanted something able to use mushrooms for different effects. Plus I wanted a charge light creature that resembled a “grown up” version of a Shinehorn. So I looked for animals that used mushrooms, I found deers can eat hallucinogenic mushrooms, it was right in the theme. Plus by looking into prehistoric deers I found out of the Sinomegaceros, a not really known creature, that have antlers...That kind of look like mushrooms! That was perfect! Then I remembered Sawsbuck, a Pokemon that I love, and bloom deers, a creature for a game that still hasn't been released: Everwild. Overall, it seems like a PERFECT match for the Aberration. Though there are many, many things for that creature, I wish that there was spores/mushrooms for two additional forms (scorching and shocking). If this creature doesn't make it this time, i plan on changing the artwork and add another type of variant dufferent from mushrooms. If you have any suggestions feel free to leave it ;-).
  3. Note: This creature was previously listed under the name of its currently living relative draco volans, which is so much easier to say. But the rules state it has to be a real but extinct creature. So here you are. Coelurosauravus elivensis looks like a tiny winged glowtail, about 8" in size. It is a warming shield that makes you invisible to wild dinos. This little carnivore spawns where sulfur is found, and is passively tamed with cactus sap or (less effectively) sulfur or raw meat; similar to the way sinomacrops are tamed. Once tamed, pick up Coelurosauravus elivensis and it goes into your inventory shield slot (so you can also have a shoulder pet). Visually, it holds onto your shield arm, wrapping its little arms and legs around your arm and resting its head on the back of your hand. (It peeks at you when you raise your arm to look at your implant.) Primarily, this tiny wyvern acts like a full ghillie suit + cactus broth + bug repellent + invisibility ala rock drake, shadowmane, or pachyrhino. It makes you completely undetectable to all dinos, unless you touch or hit them. Pegos will ignore you; sea gulls can't see you anymore. Monkeys won't spook. Cave adventures are a walk in the park, as long as you watch your step! Secondly, if you put sulfur in the "elf dragon's" inventory, it will start to glow and be able to breathe fire. The glow provides a source of light similar to a light pet. The internal fire creates a passive source of warmth equal to a campfire. It can also defend you, burning any attackers who hit you. It is breedable, usually laying 2-4 eggs with one breeding. In summary, the Coelurosauravus elivensis is a Bob's best friend. It's a living torch/invisibility shield that uses the inventory shield slot (keeping the hand and shoulder free). Note: The real Coelurosauravus elivensis were only a few inches long and could only glide, rather than fly. pic from https://www.popsci.com/science/first-flying-reptiles-dragons/
  4. Ragnorok to me has always been a really big PVP map, so I thought why not try to introduce another turtle-like creature that would give Carbonemys a little friend and try and saitiate the hunger that PVP players have for their shields. Thus the HENODUS Arks first ever weildable creature. Henodus was a Placodont lived in and around the shallow, brackish lagoons of Europe during the late Triassic period, around 228 million to 200 million years ago. It was herbivorous though has also been thought of as a filter-feeder, and would allow survivors to take on each other and provide another option in between tek shields and riot shields. WILD In the wild, survivors can find Henodus in the lagoons of Ragnarok; it likes to float around the bottom of these lagoons and look for any kind of plant matter it can scrape off and chew with its odd mouth. They are relatively docile creatures but will fight back before trying to make a hasty exit. Unfortunately, Megalodons, the Basilosaurs, and some carnivorous land creatures find these little Placodonts irresistible. The Henodus does try to fight back and, if in a group, can possibly take down a Megalodon, but will end up as an empty shell if left to a group of hungry Megalodons. They have been seen to travel out of their watery homes to try and lay eggs and bask in the warm sunlight, but then become prey to all the large carnivores that would like to get to their nutritious heno meat. TAMING PROCESS Certain survivors and tribes, especially those that live around the coasts of these lagoons that Henodus calls home, have had luck taming these little masochistic Placodonts. They say that if you go out and protect these little guys, they become fanatics of those that are helping them. They will swim around and follow the survivors like little water puppies until they finally find enough solace with the carnage the survivors inflict on those who wish to take a bite out of the tough Henodus shell and will then allow their saviors to pick them up. TAMED Once tamed, survivors have said that the Henodus likes to ride about on the backs of the ones that saved it but, given the command, will switch to their savior's arm to act as the shield for the ones that shielded them. Tribes have noticed that the shells of the Henodus are pretty sturdy to damage and can withstand taking barrages of bullets by having them deflect off the odd shape of their carapace. Their Henodus does not seem all too bothered by the impacts though enough sustained damage will eventually cause the Henodus to succumb to the damage inflicted. Survivors have also been seen having sword duels while using their specific Henodus as their shield during the fight and will bash into one another, stunning each other from round to round. Though for those tribes that do not wish to inflict pain on their little water friends, instead allow their Henodus to protect and reflect any damage from other survivors on their backside, allowing them to have a better chance of being able to then turn about and destroy those that dare harm their Henodus. OTHER Tribes that tamed and bred some Henodus have noticed that specific mutations allow for hardier carapaces that allow their little living shields more damage resistance and better overall durability before they need a rest to certain weapons and damage types, along with one tribe that had found a mutation that turned their Henodus into bright red living shields that inflicted fear among those that opposed them. Certain tribes that have tamed wyverns have also found that mutated Henodus had become more protected from the elemental attacks of their wyverns and became very important when fending off those attacks from other wyverns. Since no specific tame has ever operated like this, this will be a quick summary of what I just typed. Henodus is what I would call your very own customizable shield that your survivors can use to run turrets of others and fight hand to hand; it would be an in-between, most likely between tek shields and riots. Lower level/mutated Henodus could be all over the shield line, from wooden to possibly tek. They would work similarly to Sinomacrops; when you press the corresponding button, they would essentially flip from being a shoulder mount to your offhand and possibly have a bash attack that you could perform to stun particular smaller creatures and players. They would show up in first person just like standard shields but with their little head and eyes looking right at you as you use them to fend off bullets. When on your survivor's back, you would be shielded from bullets and damage that others might try and snipe you from the back. They are just shielding your back. You can also breed these little buggers to make them hardier to specific kinds of damage, like making them better at reducing melee damage but taking more damage from bullets and vice versa. While also able to do other general mutations for colors, health, and the like. So given enough mutations, you could have a Henodus shield that could soak hundreds or maybe a thousand bullets and protect any attack from the back or possibly even be able to withstand Rhyniognatha resin, Wyvern attacks, or Reaper attacks. On a final note, I want these guys to be little battle buddies and rewarding for PVP players that put the time in caring for and customizing their Henodus, so while not being ridable, hopefully their range of shielding capabilities makes up for them. Also I do not own the photos of Henodus, but they are pretty cool. Please give your own feed back, and try suggesting more things that could be cool for the Henodus.
