alternative cloning method Small Dino Replicator - Aegirocassis
Coelocirrata posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Dossier entry: “Wild: As an organism, Aegirocassis edmundaemonos stands out as an outlier, and one that questions the validity of everything we know about Element. A horrific drifting radiodont that incubates its eggs within Element veins, the Aegirocassis is the sole remnant of a once prosperous dynasty of arthropods, yet it is so derived in its manner of existence we wonder whether the animal influenced its mutagen, or the other way around. Aegirocassis is all but immune to Element’s psychotropic effects, using it as a catalyst in bodily functions and as structural support. Entirely devoid of secondary effects, in fact, this saturation causes corrupted creatures to ignore them entirely. As such, Aegirocasses are near - invulnerable aerial filter feeders, only threatened by the Titans that corrupt the earth. However, they are not defenseless against them. Aegirocassis ovaries are laden with stem cells and a huge amount of Element - based mutagen, which allows them to give birth to any organism small enough to fit inside its colossal brood sac, albeit highly corrupted. In the wild, Aegirocassis will use their feeding arms in order to draw blood from desirable creatures, and use the genetic information therein to create a perfect duplicate. pods are commonly surrounded by flocks of corrupted pteranodon and wyverns, serving as bodyguards, caloric storage and distractions, effectively turning the Titans’ troops against them. Domesticated: Relatively cognizant arthropods, Aegirocassis can be tamed… in theory. However, each Aegirocassis is connected to its pod and corrupted thralls via a specific wavelength of ultraviolet, which causes adult Aegirocasses to panic and bolt when connection is lost. Juveniles have underdeveloped blacklight emitters, which makes them potential targets, but to access their eggs, one must defend an Element vein whilst power tools are used to excise it from the rootings. An arduous task, not to mention a dangerous one, and one that no one has yet undertaken. Imagine what a tamed Aegirocassis is capable of, if Aegirocassis can perfectly duplicate wyvern individuals from the wild, what can they do with domestic Tyrannosaurs and Yutyrannus? If you can get past their complete corruption, that is….” Aegirocassis edmundaemonos - Details (Species name translates very roughly to “demon of Edmundium”) - Very large, filter - feeder(In captivity, eats exclusively corrupt nodes or organic polymer) - Low speed, about equivalent to a quetzal. Capable of swimming and flying without transition, and can sprint backwards in air and underwater. - Deals low damage, but has high innate armour. Health mediocre for its size. - Starves to death extremely quickly if hunger empties, but eats at an extremely fast pace - faster than its food bar being consumed during gestation. This is to prevent the animal from dying when cloning high level dinos. - Drops chitin, corrupted nodes and a small amount of element. Special: - Seats 5 players. - Corrupted creatures refuse to attack it or any tames close enough to it and will follow the Aegiro to an extent, and will attack its targets, similar to how Carnos act around Yutyrannus. They will remain attached to the Aegiro if it stays still, but they will disperse after following it travel for a while. - Radiation immune - Regens stamina in midair - A very large amount of element can be given to an Aegiro to give it a random mutation. They are not breedable, although they can mate boost. This allows the Aegirocassis to clone heavily mutated creatures, although at a massive initial investment. - Secondary attack absorbs a target’s genetic information. If the creature can be corrupted, pressing the C button whilst mounted will clone a CORRUPTED VERSION of the creature for spending a certain amount of hunger. Amount scales off of target level. (if a dino cannot be corrupted, the Aegirocassis can still act as a normal cloning chamber, using element shards.) (Dino cloning time scales off of size and level, and small creatures such as low level raptors and dilos can be complete in minutes, but larger creatures still may take days. Resource consumption still scales off levels only. Arthropods and already corrupted creatures get a bonus 50% off on gestation time.) (Instead of taking all resources at once, the Aegirocassis will simply quickly drain it over time. Running out pauses the cloning process. This permits cloning any creature within its size limit, but posing the risk of starvation. Access the radial menu to cancel the current gestation.) - Pressing the X button whilst mounted activates an attack that rapidly drains element from a corrupted creature, removing its corruption. Creatures are knocked out after being uncorrupted but cannot be tamed. The player must wake it and knock it out again. if the creature is a clone of a tamed creature, then it will be claimable by the original owners. The duration depends on the level of the target, and if interrupted must be started again. You can dismount during this. DINOS CLONED CANNOT EXCEED THE AEGIROCASSIS’ OWN LEVEL. This balances Aegirocassis as both an endgame and midgame tame, but players will have difficulty obtaining a high - level Aegiro at mid - game and thus cannot duplicate high - level creatures rapidly unless they are extremely dedicated. Attacks: - Primary fire: Double attack with raptorial appendages. - Secondary fire: Extends appendages for genetic sequencing. - Spacebar: Jettisons forward with great acceleration. Has a cooldown and cannot be used when gestating. - C : Clones the creature if resources are sufficient. Another creature cannot be cloned until gestation finishes for the first one. Dinos must be smaller than a Rex, and cannot be exclusively aquatic. - X : Extends appendages to remove corruption. The process will take longer depending on creature level. Taming/Spawning: - Wild Aegirocassis spawns in pods, flying. They are surrounded by hostile corrupted(wyvern, rock drake, and pteranodons). Most commonly found near the King Titan arena and the Desert TItan arena. - Taming requires the player to find a special Element Vein, which has an egg embedded in the main node. Defending and harvesting the vein will produce one Aegiro egg. The larger the vein, the higher level the egg, and the more difficult the hordes will be. - The egg is rooted, and when placed down cannot be moved. Use an incubator. TL:DR: Aegirocassis permits for the QUICK MASS PRODUCTION OF SMALL TAMES IN AND OUT OF COMBAT for the purposes of boss battle or war. Although limited in size and potentially ending up with corrupted dinos, you have true power in numbers and cheap, quick manufacturing of disposable creatures. It is a one man army bundled up into a giant floating shrimp, with the full strength of the Corrupted at your fingertips.- 1 reply
