Pholidocercus was an ancestor of modern hedgehogs that lived in the mid-Eocene. Its diet was based solely on insects although, like other non-carnivorous animals, it did not rule out feeding on dead animals as an additional source of protein. Normally its attitude was passive but it did not hesitate to attack invaders to defend its territory. It was covered with spines which it used defensively and had a "helmet" and tail reinforced with scales. In-game features SPAWN AREA This creature would inhabit most of the Fertile Region and isolated places in the Bio-Luiminiscent Region, with a rarer occurrence. We have chosen these areas because they are the places where there are more insects, something vital for the survival of this animal. They are also relatively similar to the places where Pholidocercus lived in the past. GENERAL ASPECTS It is a creature whose strong point is the amount of life it has, accompanied by a decent carrying capacity and normal stamina. The spines that cover a large part of its body have a mainly defensive purpose, capable of causing great damage to enemies. He also has a very resistant helmet with which, with the help of his speed, he can raze resistant materials. The four-legged Pholidocercus has a size similar to that of a Roll Rat, while its two-legged height would be like that of a Megatherium. By looting the corpse of these creatures or simply picking them up from the ground when they are expelled by it, you will get Pholidocercus Thorns, which combined with arrows you will get piercing arrows, almost instant arrows with a slightly higher damage than a normal one. WILD In the wild, it will attack any small creature (especially insects) that gets too close to it. If the Pholidocercus has killed an insect, it will get the "Toxic Rush" upgrade, which allows it to be faster, reduce more damage and make its spines poisonous, which inflicts corrosive damage. The effects will last for 1 minute in the wild. Those who try to hit him melee will suffer damage from his spines. They will also be affected by the poison if the Pholidocercus is under the effects of "Toxic Rush". When threatened by a larger animal, the hedgehog will defend itself on two legs, but when severely injured, it will throw slowing spines in all directions and then flee. If the player carries a piece of the chitin set, this creature will detect you at a great distance and will adopt a very aggressive temperament, making you its target. TAME To tame it, you will need to place a large amount of chitin in the last slot of the hot bar, put on a full chitin suit and get close enough to the Pholidocercus for it to detect you. When it sees the player, it will run towards it in a stampede. You'll have to dodge it so that it crashes into a vertical surface, leaving it stunned for a few seconds, seconds you'll have to take advantage of to get on its neck and ride it (by pressing E), but its spines will cause you light constant damage, so you'd better be quick. The animal will try to throw the survivor off, shaking violently (similar to an Equus). As it does so, a bar will appear above the player's hot bar where you will have to play a precision game of feeding the animal with chitin (10 at a time), three to six times in a row (depending on the level) to bring up the taming. If you fail the game, you can try as many times as you want, but each time you fail, the taming efficiency will decrease. If you hit the required number of times in a row, the creature will throw you off and you will have to repeat the whole process as many times as necessary, depending on the level. DOMESTICATED Once domesticated, the Pholidocercus will have a wide repertoire of abilities. The animal has two modes, four-legged or upright (like an Iguanodon or Spino). In the first form, the animal will have a damage reduction due to its spine armor, and the damage received in this form will charge a bar divided into four segments: The more the first segment is completed, the faster the animal will go, but when it is completely filled, the speed will be constant. If the second one is completed, the animal will be able to break stone structures down when making a charge. If the third segment is completed, by charging an animal or a player on an animal, they will be stunned along with considerable damage. By completing the fourth and final segment, the Pholidocercus will be able to break metal structures. If you charge at something, the completed bar will not be lost, but there will be a cooldown time when you can neither break structures with the headbutt nor knock someone out. However, if you don't take damage for a long time, it will be reset. With this, the animal could tank a large amount of damage in raids, such as projectiles from the turrets and also break through the base barriers. These are the controls of the skills while on all fours: -With the left click, the creature will hit with its helmet, but with little damage. However, if you hold the click, it will prepare to start the aforementioned charge (like a Trike) until you stop pressing it. -With the right click, it will launch spines with great range in all directions with a recharge time of 30 seconds approx. If it has consumed a mushroom brew, it will gain the effects of Toxic Rush, which will last for 10 mins. If these soups are left in the animal's inventory, you will be able to enable an option for it to eat them every 10 mins. This is useful for defending your base when you are offline. -Finally, the mount adds a shovel to the tail of the Pholidocercus, so when you press C, it will dig up a pile of dirt and you can throw it at players or creatures to blind them and slow them down. By pressing Space, the mammal will stand up on its two hind legs, being slower and more defenseless because its belly is exposed. -Once standing, its attacks with the left click will hit with its claws in a fast way. This attack will do much more damage than in its other form, and will be useful for farming materials such as wood or looting bushes. The right click will allow the player to launch a set of painless remote-controlled ( meaning that the target will be marked automatically) thorns that will chase whoever you have aimed at. When they stick in the target, which can be an ally or enemy, they will mark the target, being able to see them through the walls at all times without losing sight of them. This will last a minute and a half on enemies and 10 mins on allies. It is a really useful ability to chase creatures or enemies or not to lose your allies in, for example, an expedition or in a cave. With the C, the Pholidocercus will be able to grab small-sized creatures or babies in their early stages (with the exception of large-sized hatchlings like Giga's). While you are not mounted on it, you can activate a barricade mode (via the animal's options menu) in which the Pholidocercus will position itself exposing its spines so that, when an enemy comes in contact with it, it will take damage. In addition, if an enemy is in a very close radius to it. He will throw his spines around him every 30 secs. This, combined with the buff he gains from taking a mushroom brew, can create an excellent base defense, so if you're not online, you could leave a large amount of these brews in his inventory to ensure a good defense. MOUNT Unlocked at level 68. The mount consists of two closed cabins located on either side of the Pholidocercus, in which the player on the left drives and the player on the right can use ranged weapons. As the player is inside an enclosed cabin, he will be able to enter radioactive or poisonous areas without taking damage, as well as generating some resistance to heat and cold. If you liked it, we would be eternally grateful for your vote, as it would help us a lot to bring our beloved Pholidocercus to the Ark universe. We are sorry if there are any mistakes in the translation, since we are Spanish and, personally, English is not our strong point. Even so, we have made an effort to make sure that everything is understandable. We have put the controls only on PC because it is the medium through which we play Ark and we do not know what would be the equivalent controls on consoles. Thank you very much for reading this far as it has been many days of work and you do us a big favor just having read everything. If you have any suggestions for changes or additions, let us know. See you, survivors! Made by Deigo, with the help of Blos, Lote and DRGarca.
