Flightless Hatzegopteryx (Wall-climbing Karkinos Tamer!)
Arambourgiania posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Common Name: Hatzegopteryx Species: H. kavoratrogon Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Insectivore Temperament: Neutral Wild: Adapted to subterranean caverns, Hatzegopteryx kavoratrogon can be found climbing around the giant roots of the Luminous Marshlands. It has developed a taste for creepy crawlies of all shapes and sizes and behaves aggressively toward them. Otherwise despite its nightmarish appearance this flightless pterosaur is actually quite docile unless provoked. Although reaching a wild Hatzegopteryx in its natural habitat can be physically tricky, the creature's calm demeanor means it can be safely approached and fed chitin or, more effectively, alpha karkinos claws to earn its loyalty. Domesticated: Hatzegopteryx specializes in hunting bugs, crushing them easily and feeding exclusively on chitin. Its powerful beak is especially effective against karkinos, able to use well-aimed strikes to knock them unconcious with similar effectiveness to a catapult. Rumor has it that this ability is also effective for knocking out golems as well! Hatzegopteryx' pick-like forelimbs enable it to scale verticle surfaces with relative ease. This could almost certainly come in handy when trying to snatch those pesky high-up rock drake eggs! Unfortunately its wing membranes have become too vestigial to support so much as gliding let alone powered flight. Although Hatzegopteryx is not semiaquatic per se, it can swim well enough to hunt its karkinos prey. Artist's Notes: This design leans into the now-disproven hypothesis that Hatzegopteryx may have been flightless. I thought it was still a fun idea to experiment with especially in the context of Aberration. I wanted an alternative method to karkinos taming, as messing with catapults or cannons can be resource-intensive and finicky. I've been sitting on this concept for over a month and am excited to finally showcase it! Thank you for checking my idea out and I hope it earns your vote. Community Suggestions: ~If transferred to other maps, this Hatzegopteryx would have an unlockable tek saddle that would equip it with artificial wings and restore its ability to fly. -
Anqingosaurus - Your Friendly Neighborhood Tongue-Swinger.
Beamstalk44 posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Anqingosaurus Brevicephalus was one of the oldest known chameleons. While I did take liberties from other creatures(such as Drepanosaurus, and Jackson's Chameleon) I really liked the named Anqingosaurus(my assumed pronunciation is “An-king-go-saurus") Anqingosaurus will be the 5th shoulder-pet on Aberration however, it will not function like the other 4 as it will not be a glow-pet. It will have bioluminescence, but will function more like the aberrant variant creatures. If it wins it will also be the only shoulder-pet that has won a creature vote(I'm not including Sinomacrops since it technically got disqualified) The purpose of the Anqingo is to essentially turn you into spider-man but also has some extra perks, including increasing mutation percentages! I'm aware that the bloodstalker exists. However, I always felt that, while it was fun, I wanted to be able to be on the ground while utilizing a tech like this, I wanted it to feel more personal. It will work as the creature variant of the Grappling Hook, Whip, HL-NA, as well as being an upgraded ghillie suit/personal rock drake(which will act as a slight parasaur counter). However, while I do want it to stand out I do not want it to overshadow some of these items. It is also going to be an endgame creature so utilizing the grappling hook and whip early-mid game would still be somewhat essential. Location: Anqingo would spawn in the Bioluminescent Region, more specifically the Luminous Marshlands. You will find it on trees. It will be a rare spawn and very hard to find due to its camouflage. Taming: It is a passive tame and you need to approach it slowly with a rock drake, shadowmane, desmodus, or have another anqingo. After approaching the creature while invisible, it will notice you and a slight mini game will start, during this process it will change to one of 3 colors. Green, Blue, and Red. When it turns to one of these 3 colors you will need to hop off your mount and approach it slowly to give it one of the 3 gems, respective to the color it turns. Once tamed you can pick it up and it will cling to your arm. While clinged to you it will embed the hook on the end of its tail into your neck. This will link your nervous system to the Anqingo, much like a Bloodstalker. Controls : (Note: the Anqingo will function as a "weapon", meaning when swapped to an item you will not be able to utilize the Anqingos abilities) R/Square/X: cycles through the "modes" of the Anqingo. Indicated by the Anqingo changing to 1 of the 3 colors. Left Ctrl/R1/RB: Melee. Using the 3 horns of the Anqingo you will stab a target, causing a minor bleed effect. (Note: This can be done with any mode) Green(Camouflage/Stat reader mode): M1/R2/RT: Stat reader. This will work just like HL-NA. M2/L2/LT: Camouflage While you are not moving - you will be invisible, this will function like a rock drake, not a shadowmane, you will still have a silhouette. During this effect you are immune to "tracking" abilities, such as the parasaurs alarm mode(note: you can still be spotted by the scan, you are only immune to the passive) While moving - you are no longer invisible but it will reduce the aggro range of other creatures, similar to a ghillie suit(effects do not stack). Blue(movement mode): M1/R2/RT: The Anqingo will grab onto a surface you are looking at with its tongue. Using movement while latched will swing you in that direction, similar to bloodstalker. (While latched)Holding M1/R2/RT: Will rapidly send you towards that surface. (Note: it has a farther reach than grappling hooks, but a shorter reach than bloodstalkers) (While latched)Space/X/A or X/R3/RS: Unlatches (While latched)M2/L2/LT: unreels M2/L2/LT: Aims Red(Attack mode): M1/R2/RT: this will act as a whip, grabbing items, unbounding bolas, causing flyers to drop you. M2/L2/LT: this will grab smaller creatures and hold them in place(does not work on survivors). Once a creature is grabbed you can reel them in or out with a primary/secondary button respectively. If you use this on titanomyrma, meganeura, or insect swarms it will automatically reel them in and eat them. These same bugs will also be highlighted. Lastly, if you approach a creature and hold Left Ctrl/Square/X: you can attach the Anqingo to this creature. This will double the mutation chances of that creature's offspring. Thank you for your consideration. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anqingosaurus https://animalia.bio/anqingosaurus-brevicephalus (Drepanosaurus) (Jackson’s Chameleon)- 6 replies

Common name: Mononykus Family: Alvarezsaurid Time Period: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Active (skittish) Wild: The Mononykus is a very small theropod that spends its time hunting insects and small animals, and collecting shiny objects to ornament their burrows and nests. The name of this dinosaur, which means simply "one claw", eludes to their limitations of abilities, although they are still experts at foraging through termite mounds, as well as climbing trees to evade potential predators. Due to its small frame, it can outrun most creatures on the Ark's, and while carrying any goodies that it snagged in the process with ease. Due to the Mononykus being easily spooked, it will tend to steer clear of anything creature or human larger than itself, although it cannot resist any shiny metals or gemstones. Domesticated: A unique ability of the Mononykus is its uncanny sense of direction towards valuables, including crystals, obsidian, and other gemstones. Once tamed, this nimble creature will be able to sit on your shoulder and sniff out any and every precious and shiny material nearby, sometimes even digging up materials straight from the ground. Its sense of smell is so attuned, it can tell the valuables within crate and supply drops, (including other players boxes). While the Mononykus will shy away from any unnecessary encounter in the wild, once tamed it will try its best to aid you with a bite from its small, sharp teeth and slashes from its two claws. It has been found that the Mononykus possesses an unexpected ability to carry heavy loads, and even being stronger at carrying valuables. Taming: To tame the Mononykus, you will need to first find one and slowly crouch or crawl up to it, as walking or running will spook it if you are too close. Once you are within range of it, drop any shiny or valuable object for it to inspect, the shinier the better. Once approved, it will take the item into its inventory and continue on until distracted by another shiny object. If the Mononykus becomes scared during the taming process, it will run away to a burrow until the threat is negated, then it will exit from the burrow and will be allowed to be tamed again. Luckily, once tamed, the Mononykus will return your shiny objects back to you, as well as a hefty reward from its unknown stash (which could include a high level item/blueprint). Abilities: Simple Bite: A bite attack that deals a moderate amount of damage. Claw Swipe: Occasionally it will lash out with its two claws, dealing a relatively large amount of damage for its size. Valuable Detection: Mononykus can detect valuables either from the shoulder mount or on the ground, and will lead you via audio and visual cues towards their locations, and once you have the Mononykus for a long enough time, you will be able to distinguish the meanings of its multitude of calls as a language for what valuable is ahead. Digging for Gold: The Mononykus will sometimes dig up sections of the ground in search of precious materials, and will almost certainly find some valuable materials, such as metal, crystals, obsidian, and other gemstones. Weight Reduction: This small creature has a hidden knack for being able to hold certain heavy materials with ease, as long as it likes the shininess of the object.

Once tamed, one can recieve all the Chitin needed. Its a smaller, and more versatile version of the Megatherium, being able to be taken down into caves easier than the formerly said mammal. It lived during the Late Cretaceous epoch, and was similar to the more popular Mononykus, with one claw, and termite eating tendancies. It isn’t ridable, and has low health, but deal decent damage with a stab attack with its claw. It also preforms a jump/pounce attack, but it doesn’t do as much damage. It has major weight reduction to natural rescources, even clay! It can harvest clay from any small rock it comes across. And has a low chance to grind down rocks into sparkpowder upon destroying them. In the wild they are in packs of 7-8 individuals, seeking out Titanomyrma, Meganeura, and other Insects and Arthropods to snack on. They are generally neutral, but if you’re riding an Insect/Arthropod, they will attack. They spawn throughout the entire map, however are not extraordinarily common and only a few pack clusters be found throughout the map. In order to tame them you need to find the alpha of the pack and passive tame it by using chitin, keratin, or clay (along with kibble). After taming the alpha its likely that the rest of the pack will bow down to you more easily, requiring less materials than the alpha. You don’t NEED to tame the alpha first, its just easier that way, as if you want to get all the chitin you want, you need multiple, as they have low health. They are much more relible than Megatherium, as they can carry more chitin, collect more chitin and can be carried by an Argentavis. The stated packs that they spawn in also provide a pack bonus, upping their resistance and damage output. In raids they can be quite the fiesty little guys, a large pack being able to take on a tank creature with ease. Their claws can penetrate through armored animals like Stegosaurus and Carbonemys. They also reduce saddle armor affectiveness by 25%, so putting a pack alongside an Amargasaurus can be quite devastating. In real life: Shuvuuia (pronounced shoo-voo-ee-ah) lived in Mongolia in the Late Cretaceous, hunted termites, and was prey for medium sized carnivores. Their name literally means “bird” with their species name, deserti, meaning “desert,” so, their full name means “desert bird,” hence why I’ve thought it fitting. I would submit a dossier, but sadly I don’t have time, so I would be thankful if a community member could make one! Note: this is going to be slightly bigger than the real life verson. Species name would be Shuvuuia maximus.

Desert Scarab. A NEW Scorched Earth Shoulder Pet!!!!
OMAGUSPRIME posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
The Desert Scarab Can be found crawling on the side of cliffs. The desert Scarab is a diverse breed of beetle. coming in 3 variants, Lapis, Emerald and Ruby. Each Variant holds a unique set of abilities that the ark Survivor can take advantage of. Each Variant has a different array of patterns so survivors need to observe carefully to ensure they tame their desired Scarab. Passive Tame: u need bug repellent. Feed it fertilized Eggs, after that it was secrete A pheromone that will attract enemy dinos, u will have to fend it off. Repeat the process. Like an extinction element vain. Tamed The desert Scarab is a shoulder pet that sits on your back. All types share the 2 abilities. Weight reduction to all resources, but increased weight reduction to Eggs. And all act as an organic fridge. Keeping your Eggs safe! The different Variants In order for the different effects can take place The Scarab must consume a fertilized Egg. (Note: Scarabs will not eat the Eggs by themselves you need to manually feed them in their inventory. You can access it just like a Sinomacrops) Variant 1 (Called a Lapis Scarab😞 greatly boosts the chance that a baby Dino has a mutation, in the range of the Desert Scarab also increases the speed that babies grow, if the baby has a mutation on it it’s will grow even faster. Variant 2 (Called a Emerald Scarab😞 will produce a pheromone that acts like a bug repellent keeping u safe from bugs, greatly reduces torpor damage allowing u to eg: survive a group of trodons for a greater time. Variant 3 (Called a Ruby Scarab😞 increases DMG dealt by the Survivor and also increases your armor. When mounted these buff will be given to the mount. The quality of buffs given to the character/mount are dependent on the quality of fertilized eggs the Scarab consumes. The greater the quality, Variant 1 (Lapis Scarab) : the greater the increase chance of mutation (up to 95% chance), greater the increase of growth speed. Variant 2 (Emerald Scarab) : the greater the increases of duration of pheromone, and the greater increase of resistance to torpor. Variant 3 (Ruby Scarab) : the greater increase to DMG buff and armor- 1 reply

Xiaotingia, scouting for good level dinos
HannaArk posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Common Name: Xiaotingia Species: Xiaotingia Quaerere Time: Jurassic Diet: Carnivore/Insectivore Temperament: Neutral/Curious Taming: Xiaotingias are passive tames. First you need to get their attention. When he approaches you out of curiosity, feed it. You can feed it meat, but it preferes chitin. Simple Kibble ist barely better. After around 40 seconds, the Xiaotingia is hungry again and comes back to you. Abilities: Once it is tamed, you can send it out scouting for specific dinos. You can decide which species it should be and which level it has to be at least. The longer you let the Xiaotingia scout, the further it flies and the more likely it is going to find something. When on your shoulder, it will alert you, if there is a max level creature around you. If there's a heatwave or a sandstorm, it will spread it's wings above your head to protect you from the heat or to give yo a better view in the sandstorm. Temperament: Sometimes, the Xiaotingia will approach you and look at you for a while, same with other non-hostile creatures. If it gets attacked, it will attack back, sometimes dodging the attackers hits. Once it gets down to half health, it will run away, searching for safety in the trees or jumping of a cliff and gliding away. But it is aggressive to insects and has a damage increase on them. Habitat: The Xiaotingia is most common on the sides of mountains, where they can hide in trees and inbetween rocks. If there's a weather event, they will hide in trees and wait until it's over. Side note: Quaerere is latin and means 'search'.-

Yi QI, The closest thing to a realistic dragon
AbunaTheGreat posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Yi Qi, in real life, a small micro raptor like creature but has membrane wings instead of feathers and was only capable of gliding instead of powered flight. In ark, the prehistoric creatures are subspecies of creatures they are based on, maybe an ark Yi Qi could be a supersized (size range im imagining is slightly larger than an argy maybe even close to allosaur or carno sized) version that is rideable, can climb rocks and redwood trees to glide off them, maybe the faster you glide down the more momentum you build to form a speed-based attack like the snow owl and griffin however as you swoop and hold down left click, a crosshair forms to be able to aim a quick sweep in and concuss an animal for a short period like a peregrine falcon where its short and quick and you're back in the air again without having to risk too much time being hit by a melee attack. This animal would be more of a support creature to help create openings in battles while other dinosaurs do the main work and would have to be very maneuverable in the air. Ability 1: An ability to compliment the speed, it could have a dismounting ability to launch speedy sneak attacks to knock other players from their mounts and pinning them down in the style a raptor can at the same time stunning the dino to ensure safety of the pinning ability, could even have an armor negation to its pin attack or damage the player based on a small percentage after the initial strike which would take into account its melee. For PVE related encounters it could stun certain sized animals and keep them still to make it an easier tame, (size of creature changes the stun time) or to offer more time for an escape. Ability 2: Since it has a bat like resemblance, an echolocation ability to spot players to give it an edge in badly lit areas, for example, night combat would give you the edge. This echolocation ability would be similar to the parasaurs but faster and can be heard by affected players to atleast know they have been spotted. (Didnt know desmodus was a thing, so instead probably could build off of its ability with another rider on a desmodus that lets you have a lesser version of its echolocation) Taming: Taming process could be, similar to the carcharodontasaurus but it can only be feed insect-like creatures or do a similar thing to andrewsarchus taming however youre falling off some very tall cliffs or trees trying to keep the animal upright so you don't fall off or just matching certain directions and if you fail you risk falling off hundreds of meters high while being sweep attacked by the Yi qi, perhaps on maps like crystal isles like the floating cliffs or the tall rocks on abberation you would have to utilize climbing picks or grapple hooks to get close and mount it where it then begins to fall and glide around the area at a high speed. Habitat: Redwood forests, biomes with cliffs, floating cliff mountains like in crystal isles would be perfect. Passive Abilities: Will collect more chitin and keratin when harvesting animals that can give it, Will increase the chances of collecting seeds from bushes, eating insect like creatures can give it a similar frenzy effect to the carcahro or just simply heal it to help with cave exploration. Cons: Perhaps as a balance, if its wings are shot in a pvp encounter holes will be blown into its membrane like wings and give a speed reduction which takes 2 or 3 min to fully heal, but must need a sniper bullets to penetrate the thick skin.- 3 replies

Dossier: Common Name: Xiaotingia Species: Xiaotingia Quaerere Time: Jurassic Diet: Carnivore/Insectivore Temperament: Neutral/Curious Wild: Even though the Archaeopterix is a descendant of Xiaotingia, the Xiaotingia has both more health and is quicker. And it is way more curious than Archaeopterix. I would have never found it, if it wouldn't come to me. They seem to be rare too, but the Xiaotingias abillity to climb trees and glide away from danger ensures it's survival. Domesticated: Once tamed, it is able to scout for Dinos you're looking for. I'm amazed by how good the Xiaotingia of the survivor who told me about it is trained. Apparently, he didn't even train it. It is even harder to believe, that you can tell the Xiaotingia, which exact dino he has to search for, and it'll look out for the strongest one. Definetly great if you are always looking for strong dinosaurs. Mei would love one of them. More: Taming: Xiaotingias are passive tames. First you need to get their attention. Leonababona posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
location: on large trees that are not degradable taming: when they jump on you the player can tame them passiv with raw meat propagation: the player must put wood straw and barrels in the inventory so that they can make a nest. When it is ready. The female gives birth to the young in the nest. After that they can claim them and in order not to let them starve the player must give the foot to the mother. behavior: In the wild they hunt insects and jump from the trees where it can sometimes happen that they jump on a player who can simply take them down m. The player can send a tamed Maiopatagium on the hunt and it will go and kill insects where it automatically collects chitin for you.-
