  1. **NEW & UPDATED ABILITIES! BIG THANKS TO LUUX FOR SUGGESTIONS!** "Good day, Survivors! Today I present to you my submission for the Aberration creature vote, Chasmosaurus luxoscutum!" GENERAL INFORMATION: The real world Chasmosaurus is a medium-sized ceratopsian that lived during the Campanian stage of the Late Cretaceous period in what is now Alberta, Canada. For more info on the real world Chasmosaurus, here's the Wikipedia article so you can read up on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chasmosaurus DOSSIER TRANSCRIPT: Common name: Chasmosaurus Species: Chasmosaurus luxoscutum Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Short-tempered “WILD” “The fauna on this ARK never ceases to amaze me. An example of this can be seen with Chasmosaurus luxoscutum. While not as large or powerful as its cousin Triceratops or even Pachyrhinosaurus, the Chasmosaurus has one trick up its sleeve to set it apart from the rest.” “Since Chasmosaurus has relatively short horns, they aren’t very good at warding off larger predators. To counteract this, they have developed photophores in their frills that they can use to create a large flash of charge light to blind and stun any potential threats. However, this comes at a cost, for it takes a lot of energy to produce such a large quantity of charge light and will leave the Chasmosaurus fairly tired, with barely enough stamina to allow for a quick getaway.” “DOMESTICATED” “Usually residing in the bioluminescent forest, the Chasmosaurus is a very good, well rounded companion to have. They are big enough to ride, can carry around a fair amount, and seem to be immune to the effects of radiation sickness in the lower levels of the caverns. This, as well as their charge light ability has led to several unhinged lunatics to bring these fellas down to the territory of the Reapers in fruitless efforts to tame one. I strongly advise AGAINST this due to the Chasmo’s lack of physical strength.” To quickly summarize, Chasmosaurus luxoscutum essentially serves as a walking charge lantern, being able to release a large burst of charge light to stun enemies in place. It resides in the bioluminescent forests where it feasts on its favorite food, Plant Species Z fruit. Once tamed, the Chasmosaurus proves to be a pretty good companion. It can be ridden, carry a good amount of resources, and is fairly fast as well. If you really play your cards right, it can possibly even be quite useful in the taming process of Reapers. Personally, I wouldn't recommend doing so due to Chasmosaurus's low damage and defensive abilities. Speaking of abilities… OFFENSIVE ABILITIES: Primary Fire: Melee attack - A standard melee attack, alternates between headbutt and back kick if camera is facing backwards; does moderate damage and minor knockback. (NEW) Crouch Button: Light Toggle - Chasmo has two different light themed abilities that it can swap between, Flashbang and Intimidation Display; These abilities do not do physical damage. Alt Fire 1: Flashbang - Releases a large flash of charge light (much like a Plant Species Z fruit or Charge Lantern) to blind and leave enemies in a daze, unable to move for ~10 seconds; long cooldown after use; uses ~60% stamina when used; temporarily gives Nameless and Reapers the "Charged" debuff during the stun duration. Alt Fire 2: Intimidation Display - The Chasmo roars and pulses a hypnotic pattern on it's frill and body to intimidate larger predators such as Spinosaurus and Rock Drakes; decreases aggro radius for aggressive creatures; gives enemies minor damage reduction and defense down for ~20 seconds when within a certain radius of the Chasmo. Jump Button: Precise movement - Hold down to allow for precise rotation to aim the flashbang ability. PASSIVE ABILITIES: (NEW) Battery Charger - Saddle has "charging ports" on it to passively charge batteries while on the move, able to charge 6 at a time Head Shield - 30% damage reduction on headshots. Stamina Tracker - The glowing spots on the side of the Chasmo’s body indicate how much stamina it has left. Adrenaline Rush - Gains a minor speed boost for a few seconds after successfully stunning a threat with the Flashbang. Radiation Immunity - Does not take damage when in the radioactive Element Caverns area. Energy Refuel - Plant Species Z fruits can be used similar to that of a sweet veggie cake where force feeding the Chasmo one will replenish its stamina quicker; cooldown after use. (NEW) Charge Light Synergy - When in the presence of a source of charge light, the Chasmo receives a slight boost to its damage and overall defense ^^^ Beautiful art here done by Lapis Lazuli on Discord. Go show them some love! ^^^ TAMING (NEW TAMING METHOD!): This idea was suggested by Zipperslipper457 (Big thanks!) This new proposed taming method would require you to have a metal shield specifically. When approaching the Chasmosaurus, it will enter a defensive state and begin to flash its intimidation display, during which it will look at you and prepare to flashbang you. Right before it flashes you, bring up your shield to reflect the flash back at the Chasmo. Doing this will stun the Chasmosaurus instead. When it this stunned state, walk up to it and feed it the Plant Species Z fruit/seed. Rinse and repeat until fully tamed. And there you have it! If you made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read this! It really means a lot. If you liked my silly little ceratopsian, feel free to give it a vote! Good day, survivors!
  2. Estemmenosuchus(meaning "crowned crocodile" in Greek) is a therapsid from the middle permian of Russia that existed around 267 million years ago… In the world of Ark: Survival Ascended, taming the Estemmenosuchus proves to be a strategic choice for early to late game players exploring the challenging Aberration map. This versatile dinosaur possesses unique abilities that make it an essential asset in combat situations, particularly when dealing with formidable adversaries such as reapers and nameless. The Estemmenosuchus possesses exceptional offensive and defensive capabilities, allowing survivors to swiftly eliminate threats in a quick and efficient manner. One of its standout features is its ability to consume congealed gas, which grants it the power to puff up its body. This inflation creates a potent buff to its attacking and defensive prowess, enabling it to deliver devastating blows to opponents and withstand considerable damage. However, what truly sets the Estemmenosuchus apart is its special ability to harness the accumulated gas within its body and utilize it in a stunning fashion. Similar to a photo camera's flash, the Estemmenosuchus can release bursts of gas, creating powerful flashbang-like effects. These explosive emissions temporarily disoriented and stun enemy dinosaurs. So, if you're seeking a formidable dinosaur ally capable of traversing and dealing with all kinds of threats Aberration can throw at you, taming the Estemmenosuchus should be a top priority in Ark: Survival Ascended on the Aberration map. Abilities Gassed - The biggest ability Estemmenosuchus possesses. When fed congealed gas balls, Estemmenosuchus grows in size, increasing damage dealt and decreasing damage taken. Having this ability will also grant access to the (Flashbang) ability. [ when Gassed certain parts of Estemmeno glows ] Flashbang - Estemmenosuchus uses the built of gas in its system to release a flash of light causing creatures to go blind for a few seconds. Being extra effective to Reapers and Nameless causing them to take more incoming damage from you our allies attacks. immune to radiation - self explanatory Mobility Climb - Estemmenosuchus is able climb up sheer rock walls (Ferox climb nothing too crazy)[Gassed only] Boost - While gassed, Estemmenosuchus can propel itself forward (drains Gassed meter)[Gassed only] Edit: People have been asking for the deflated concept art so here you go. Saddle Concept : Has a Reflective shield that protects the rider from Enemy Estemmeno Flashes
  3. All Art commissioned from RiskyBiscuits. Dossier by Me Wild A relative to the Ankylosaur, Euoplocephalus Micarebang has adapted to the caves of this ARK. Euoplocephalus emits large amounts of light much like the bulbdog and other light pets but unlike them, Euoplocephalous does not seem to lose light allowing it to forage in the bioluminescent biome without the worry of nameless. Most predators avoid hunting Euoplocephalus due to its large size and emit a light so blinding it stuns everything in its vicinity before it finishes its attackers or makes an easy escape to find Z Fruit to recharge its strength. Domesticated Once Tamed, Euoplocephalus is a great travel companion for traveling due to its size, carry weight and strong armor knocking back opponents attacks or swinging its massive sized club tail. Survivors even utilize the light from its body emitting the light from its body like a flashbang grenade to blind opponents or shoot lits light filled spikes from its body in its surround area to cause light sources that stay for a period of time causing light debuffs to nameless and even Reapers!! It also has an affinity for carrying the various colored gems of this ARK with ease. Abilities: Passives: Damage Reduction, Recoil Damage, Emits a weaker version of charge light that does not lose charge, keeps nameless at bay and weakens the armor of reapers albeit not as armor reducing as the Glowpets Attacks: Left Click - Crippling Tail: Swing its mighty Tail to Cripple opponents preventing them from sprinting or jumping. Also gathers Crystal & Colored Gems more efficiently. Right Click - Bite: Bite that gathers berries C - Spike Launch: Launch the spikes from its body in a surrounding area that to dmg when they hit the ground and apply a weaker version of charge light on the ground. Loses dmg reduction and recoil for a period of time. These spikes cannot be destroyed unlike Amarga Spikes. X - Flashbang: Send light to the tail and slam it on the ground emitting intense light that blinds and stuns opponents for a period of time. Emits weaker version of chargelight but can be powered up if the rider has a glow pet on their shoulders Spacebar - Crystal Armor: Cover Euo and the rider in Crystal that while really slows down Euo and prevents sprinting, increases Damage Reduction and Recoil Damage to insane numbers at the cost of Stamina. Taking Damage too quickly will break the armor Look when Crystal Armor is Active Saddle: Lv. 60 Taming: Force it to use Flashbang, which will exhaust it allowing you to run up and feed it Z Fruits Pros: Tanky with Recoil, Apex Herbivore with dmg similar to Rex, Flashbang Ability Cons: Chargelight effects weaker than Glowpets, slow, Despite able to debuff reapers, Euo cannot kill one without assistance
  4. The real world species is from the Permian through the Triassic and we need more early tetrapod rep. This creature lives high up in the trees of aberration and is between the size of a Megalania and Megalosaurus. Though they would be longer. They would be tamed by bringing tames bodies under trees and they would then pounce and kill that animal and it would put up taming effectiveness. This species would also be a fast swimmer and runner and more of a transport mount then a fighting one. They would have a weak bite attack but their claw attack would be really strong. They could also flash bang creatures with their tail which would be good against the nameless. They could also have it's charge light havested and have a double or triple saddle . Other abilities They would be buffed like a megatherium when fighting insects. They would have a decent charge and would be good against the nameless and low level reaper kings and in groups could take down a reaper queen (pack bonus) they would be immune to radiation and have a powerful claw attack . They would be really good climbers and it would be similar to a rock drake or a megalania. They would also be good gliders and faster then rock drakes while gliding . This species wouldn't be as strong as a rock drake and it's strength is more inline with other mid sized carnivore Size in game. This creature would be on the smaller side somewhere in-between a megalania and a Megalosaurus.
  5. Introducing Rheobatrachus volans, the Gliding Frog! This animal is based off of a combination of the recently extinct Gastric Brooding Frog and the living Wallace’s Flying Frog. Aberration is no stranger to downright weird wildlife, and what’s weirder than a combination of a frog that gives birth to live babies and a frog that can fly! If this creature was added, it’d certainly do wonders for ARK’s heavily lacking amphibian roster, along with adding something that Aberration sorely needs! The biggest part of Aberration, in my opinion, is the unique methods of transportation that are imposed on the player due to the environment. While end game choices like the Rock Drake are everything you could want and more for cave exploration, I feel like early game creatures like the Ravager and Roll Rat are lacking. Their movement abilities are interesting, but are either incredibly niche in use or aren’t really the best for the map (for example, as much as I love the Roll Rat, on Aberration it’s very prone to just rolling off a cliff, and struggles to turn in tight passageways). Rheobatrachus will be the answer to your early game transport needs and add a new, if a little goofy, way to travel in style! Let's hop into the concept! Table of Contents 1. Artwork 2. Dossier Text 3. Potential Base Stats and Spawning 4. Taming 5. Abilities and Controls - A Flying Frog? - Abilities - Controls 6. Supplementary Links Dossier Text Common Name: Gliding Frog Species: Rheobatrachus volans Time: Holocene Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Evasive Wild Apart from the size, Rheobatrachus volans bears strong resemblance to its recently extinct relatives… except for the fact that this super-charged frog can fly! Well, more like fall with style. Much like other frogs, its sticky toe pads allow it to grip a variety of surfaces with ease. However, the webbing between its digits is specifically designed to catch the air like a parachute! This allows it to leap great distances, then gently float back to earth without a scratch. An excellent adaptation for staying mobile in these twisting caverns! Somehow stranger than the gliding is its preferred method for avoiding predators… weaponised charge light! Females will produce ammunition in the form of specialised eggs, which they swallow and store in their stomach. When threatened, they burp them up, and the resulting blinding flash caused by the eggs bursting open stuns predators long enough for them to make their escape! The males aren’t defenceless either, filling their vocal sacs with charge to put foes in a trance, then croaking loudly to send them running! Domesticated While not the most adept climber, or the fastest glider, Rheobatrachus is the perfect choice for those just starting to explore the depths! The giant amphibian is especially popular thanks to its unique reproduction. Giving birth to live young means that it is far less water-dependent than its kin, making them much easier to keep in captivity. Any added mobility in these caves is invaluable, and its affinity for defending itself with charge light has saved my skin more times than I can count! Potential Base Stats and Spawning Health: 225 Stamina/Charge Capacity: 300 Charge Regeneration: 150 Food: 1500 Weight: 280 Melee Damage: See "Abilities and Controls" section for base damage values Torpidity: 175 Rheobatrachus would be found in the Fertile/Green Zones of Aberration. You may see this hybrid frog meandering along the ground, or resting in a lofty perch inside the caps of the giant fungal trees. I feel like having an animal, like the Archaeopteryx, that can be found roosting in trees would really help the map feel a lot more alive! All of the “activity” in ARK really happens at the player’s eye level, there’s rarely a reason to look upwards aside from trying to find a flyer. Having a creature that could bring some life to the tree canopy would be more than welcome! Taming While I love a good custom taming mechanic, an early game creature shouldn’t have anything too complex. Rheobatrachus would be a conventional KO tame, but I’d be open to any appropriate suggestions to spice things up! However, there are a few things to note about taming yourself a froggy friend… Diet Rheobatrachus likes to eat, in order of preference: Plant Species Z Fruit (kibble) Mutton Prime Meat I feel having it specifically require Z fruit as its kibble could make things a bit interesting. While intended to be an early game tame, if you really want to kibble tame it, you’ll have to wait till midgame to get a good one. Also, a few of its abilities would most certainly be useful for midgame and even into the lategame as a taming helper! Mobility These frogs are so fine tuned for movement, even bola-ing them down doesn’t stop them completely! I think it would add to the personality of the Rheo if it could still manage a (pitifully) slow crawl while trapped in a bola. Not the fastest or most dignified escape, but it’s all it can manage when its back legs are all tied up! Abilities and Controls A Flying Frog? First things first, lets get this out of the way. I hear you, how does this thing not invalidate creatures like Beelzebufo and Rock Drake? Simple, it has its own niche! Below is a handy dandy chart detailing how its mechanics differ from the rest of the bunch! Art also thanks to RRG! In terms of abilities: The Rheobatrachus would be a wonderful way to get around the upper regions of Aberration! While its combat prowess leaves a bit to be desired, it more than makes up for it in its utility! Both males and females can spread their webbed toes wide to catch the air below them, turning them into living parachutes! Both can also manage that awkward, but endearing, frog climb up a variety of surfaces! However, each has their own charge light themed abilities! Males Males are able to inflate their vocal sacs and fill them with charge light, turning them into a living lure that can slowly lead creatures to different locations. While the sac is inflated, you won’t be able to glide. Females Females will use their charge light stat to slowly produce ammunition, much like Rhyniognatha’s conversion of sap to resin. The ammo will be in the form of explosive eggs! These eggs can be shot out in front of them and create a flash of light, like Plant Species Z. A unique feature of this amphibian is its reproduction. It will give birth to live young when bred! In terms of controls: Left Click : A simple bite. 12 base damage. Harvests a good amount of chitin! Right Click : On males, this will do the equivalent of parasaur's scary honk. On females, it will be a small forward stomp with 20 base damage. C : Charge-based abilties! Males will glow and lure things towards them, females will shoot out a singular egg from their ammunition stockpile. Left-Control : Activates climbing mode. Being a frog, this fella can climb, just nowhere near as fast as creatures like the Rock Drake or Megalania. Really, its climbing is just enough to help you not have to take the long way round if you fall off a cliff. Spacebar : Leap! Can be aimed much like the Procoptodon's/Karkinos' jump. Holding spacebar activates the parachute. 6. Common Name: Anomalocaris Species: Anomalocaris Luxarmis Time: Late Cambrian Diet: Carnivore Temperment: Opportunistic Wild: Of the many different creatures I have encountered in my travels, Anomalocaris Luxarmis is one of the strangest I have encountered, looking more like a strange alien from a science fiction movie then an actual animal. These armored predators effortlessly glide through the water with rigid armor plates, and use their tusk like appendages to hunt their favorited prey, Trilobites, and Lamprey. Their many adaptations have allowed these predators to flourish in their environment. Their armor is extremely durable, akin to carbon fibers, and they swim surprisingly quickly. They are also covered in specially modified bioluminescent organs, allowing them not only to provide light in the dark environments they dwell in, but they can also completely disappear from sight, becoming almost completely invisible similarly to the Rock Drakes that also inhabit these caverns. Domesticated: Making use of Anomalocaris Luxarmis' many adaptations, one can drastically improve their survivability on foot in almost any of the environments the arks could throw at you. I have seen some survivors wearing Anomalocaris comfortably upon their backs, similarly to a backpack. When like this, Anomalocaris can provide one with many of its adaptations to augment the wearer. Their diet has made them completely immune to radiation, which when worn can also reflect harmful radioactive particles from the wearer. On top of this, their special producing light organs provide charge light, bolstering other charge creatures in a symbiotic relationship, and when sufficient harm comes to the wearer, provides a incredibly bright flash to allow one the ability to escape from harm. However, the most useful gift the Anomalocaris provides is its armor bolstering shell, allowing one when in its active state to take drastically reduced damage, and bolster ones posture to inhuman like proportions; making one immune to being stunned, slowed, frozen, covered in disgusting sap, as well as allow you to move completely normally when encumbered. It even could refract light in a way to cause one to completely disappear! Greeting Everyone! Allow me to help introduce my Creature Submission; the Anomalocaris Luxarmis: Ideas: Role in both PVE and PVP to protect the wearer from a variety of threats Difficult to tame; Hard to find Gets worn on back similarly to a Sinomacrops Is tamed similarly to a Horse or Andrewsarcus but with Electrocution Can be whistled into differing active states when tamed Introduction: Aberration has always been a very alien like environment, with massive caves, bioluminescent lights and creatures that defy imagination and skew into the realm of fantasy and science fiction. I believe that Anomalocaris helps to fit the bill for this type of design format, as it is one of the oldest predators on the Earth, looks completely unlike anything one could find in real life or even Ark, as well as fill in the spot of a crustacean like animal, which the game only has a few of. In this case, Anomalocaris is more related to that of a shrimp then anything else. Anomalocaris in the design was chosen very early on to be a smaller creature, and while that might be a turn off to some, allow me to explain: Aberration compared to other maps is one that focuses more on smaller tames, and being on the ground, climbing, ziplining, flying with gliders, etc. While there is larger tames, they are usually reserved for later on in the map (Rock Drake, Reaper King) or getting down to the bottom of the map (Sarco, Karkinos, Spino). Anomalocaris in the fashion of Aberration is meant to help drastically improve your survival on foot. Going up the surface will be far safer, as well as delving into the caves and deeper map. Off this map, it still is useful to survivors as it provides invaluable defense when on foot, as well as helping one in a multitude of ways, from the every day like carrying a ton of thing around your base, to protection from raids or wild dinosaurs. Wild: In the wild one will find Anomalocaris swimming around the massive bioluminescent lakes on the Aberration. Occasionally disappearing from sight with its cloaking like abilities, which might make finding it difficult. Anomalocaris itself, is not dangerous at first, and will harmlessly swim by you, which is perfect time to try the taming method. However, if you are already hurt is when Anomalocaris will show its true colors, and attack the survivor. In this case, the Anomalocaris will snatch and hold onto the survivor, similarly to a bear trap but in the water, making you slowly sink unless you click quickly like the Desmodus. If there are other things in the water with you, or you get plain unlucky, and dont escape quick enough, they will slowly drown the survivor in water. Taming Method: The taming method has admittedly changed a couple of times; from originally being feeding it tamed light pets to win its trust, to stunning it with electric prod and feeding it (unforuntately cant be used in the water for this). I decided to have the use of another tame in the game; Electrophorus. Anomalocaris' armor is incredibly tough and tranq arrows or even the spears will not have any effect, thus the way to tame Anomalocaris is to drive it into Electrophorus, causing it to get electrocuted and causing a long stun, to feed it a black pearl. The reason for this is to make use of a less popular tame in the game, as well as it means you may need to go down into the Red Zone to get Black Pearls before you have enough to tame the Anomalocaris. Using tamed Electrophorus will even make this process easier. For safety with the tame, I would say the electrocution would obviously not effect taming efficiency, and perhaps Electrophorus will flee from the sight afterwards. Cnidaria could even work too, though be wary that when the Anomalocaris gets electrocuted you get thrown off to give it pearls. Tamed: As stated above the Anomalocaris has ALOT of special uses for your character. For one, it is a light pet technically, which means it will tell you when max level wildlife is nearby. Most of the abilities that Anomalocaris can do are either passive or active. For active abilities when worn, you will have to whistle to the tame. One whistle will allow you and the Anomalocaris to cloak similarly to the Predator, which can be useful in a PVE and PVP setting, especially for PVP when scouting and sneaking around. Its second whistle, Armor Mode, causes the Anomalocaris' armored fins to form shields around you. In this mode, one takes reduced damage, similarly as if the armor you are wearing is of better quality. Ranged attack would effectively do nothing, and tames will find you incredibly durable to bite and attack. In this armor mode, you cannot be bola'd, slowed, stopped with bear traps, frozen, or the like. Tames could still pick you up, but we will get to this in the passives. One of the other useful abilities of this is it also allows you to carry more, as encumberment doesnt slow you anymore (As a secondary, it could also lower the weight of things in your inventory if that works better). For those wondering what would happen if Anomalocaris is thrown off when on land, I think it would be cute and amusing if it is the slowest tame on land, like trying to follow with its fins, but otherwise just chills there like a cute lil guy. TLDR: Cloak Mode = Cloaks the survivor and Anomalocaris Light = Can be whistled to provide Charge Light like a Charge Pet Armor Mode = Drastically Reduced Damage, Immune to Stun, Slowed, Frozen, and Encumbered effects Both are Activated by Whistles Passives: Anomalocaris also has many different passive effects. For one, light pets other then Anomalocaris regenerate charge when nearby. Wearing Anomalocaris makes one immune to radiation damage, meaning they can wear Armor into the Red Zone onto the map, or future radiation environments on maps. Lastly, Anomalocaris can unleash all of its charge light into one flash, similarly to a flashbang. This effect covers the entire area of the charge light, and will stun tames and other players when caught in it. This effect cannot be whistled or activated, and only occurs when the Anomalocaris is threatened. When the Anomalocaris in the wild is injured to 1/4th its hp, it will flash and flee. When worn, the Anomalocaris will flash when the survivor is brought to 1/4th the hp OR if they are picked up by a mount. When Anomalocaris does this, it loses all its charge light, and has to recharge. TLDR: Radiation Immunity when worn Buffs Light pets to regenerate their Charge faster Defensive flashbang when Anomalocaris in the wild/not being worn is brought to 1/4th hp left Defensive flashbang when Survivor that is wearing Anomalocaris is brought to 1/4th hp, or picked up by a tame/wild dino Utility (PVE): The Aberration, and many other Arks are incredibly dangerous, nothing however more then caves. Many caves are too cramped to allow tames in, or only smaller tames, and there are times where we either lose a prized tame, or you have to gun into a cave alone Anomalocaris provides the user with light, as well as defenses against the many threats in the cave, as they push through in almost juggernaut style through the cave. Even when brought low on hp, the Anomalocaris flashes, saving them and allowing them to pull back and heal. Even when leaving the cave, the survivor is then tackled by a raptor, which thanks to the flash from the Anomalocaris, allows the survivor to quickly spin around and shotgun it in the face. Utility (PVP): A tribe is about to attack another persons base, which happens to be in a cave, cramped and wont allow larger dinosaurs inside to lay siege, the tribe takes out their Anomalocaris' and charges in, blasting the tribe without them, who attempt to fire back, but are effectively firing at near bullet proof warriors in riot gear. One attempts to grab their trusty Karkinos in the cave and grab the intruders, which is then flashed, they fall back to the ground and continue their siege, destroying the rest of the base with minimal casualties, and offers defense for them to collect the loot even if the enemy spawns in to try and catch them off guard. One happens to, but doesn't see the 3rd player, who walked into the cave cloaked, and is quickly dispatched Nerfs/Counters: In a way to balance this creature if it seems like it is too much, there are a couple of methods. The armor mode for one could take food to keep going, similarly to the Daeodon, which means it cannot be used all the time. Electricity can also be used as a method, which could either completely bypass the defenses of the Anomalocaris wielding survivor, or make it fall off onto the ground, which could give time to kill the survivor or the Anomalocaris. Poisonous Gas would also not defend the survivor in this case, and poisonous bombs can be used to completely deter intruders. Conclusion: In Conclusion, I think Anomalocaris would make an excellent addition to the Aberration map. In this form, it provides many different helpful buffs that could keep one alive on this map, which is arguably one of the harder ones in the game, as well on others, and provide them with a helping of active and passive support abilities. While it isn't large enough to ride, I believe Aberration is a perfect map to do this on as it is a very alien creature to begin with, and much of the map requires either being on foot or with a smaller tame. To boot, this is another crustacean like arthropod to add to the game, which I think is just incredibly neat! I thank you for hearing this out, as I put a lot of effort into this art, and making this dossier, and tame. 7. Iani Smithi. It's an iguanadontian, but being known for having teeth rather than a bill and a strong jaw I thought it could be a cool pack-type dino. Since Carnivores have been so popular and people want more herbivores this could be a good in between. Like they get a buff of bleed and the broken bone thing when either in a pack or given a certain food(rare flower/mushroom or beer). They would be more the size of raptors than the size of the normal iguanodon. This would also mean being less bulky and more offensive stat wise. The inspiration for it being an aggresive dino is it's name being inspired by Janus, the two-faced roman god. And it's name also relates to change, this being the map where Rockwell went through his big change I thought this would be a fitting addition. Since it would be for ab, it could keep the iguanodon skill of not using stam, while also being able to climb on vines/ropes like ravagers. Also being in ab it could take advantage of the glow effect. It would have patches of skin that could be very vibrant and it's special ability would be to glow very brightly for a short amount of time confusing big predators and scaring off small ones. This would give it time to escape because it isn't built for fighting larger dinos(if they wanted to make it stronger they could make it able to jump on large dinos like deinonychus or even climb walls 😂). It's passive skills would be the unlimited stam buff and a weight reduction on crystal, gems, and gas. One suggestion I've seen is to make it immune to stuns so that it could counter shadowmanes. They have a glow affect like glow pets/bugs. They are attracted to light so you could use lamps or flares to lead them where you want. To tame them you will need to beat them to low health. once they are low health they will glow brightly and run to the nearest source of light (lamp, flare, glowbug, glow pet, aberrant dino, fire) as a source of comfort and lay down. Once they lay down you can passive tame them. This would take the form of taking care of them by feeding them or petting them till tamed. As offense based herbivores they would be territorial like a Therizino or chalico. They would aggro to anything that gets too close. When they get low on health they would use their flashbang ability to escape danger. Iani smithi
  8. Original Species (Indosuchus Raptorius) not my drawing Dossier Species: Indosuchus Diablovenator Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive (especially to Nameless) Wild: I have noticed that much of the prehistoric wildlife in these caverns are pretty aberrant compared to the prehistoric wildlife I encountered on the island and desert with them most notably glowing in the dark but one dino stands out from the rest, Indosuchus Diablovenator, for one I did not encounter it on the previous space stations and secondly it seems more derived than the other prehistoric creatures with numerous adaptations for dwelling in these caverns. Firstly Indosuchus is capable of swimming on the surface of molten element allowing it to escape many dangerous situations as other creatures can't dwell in molten element without getting hurt, secondly, Indosuchus has a corrosive breath that burns the skin of anything that comes into contact with the breath. Most creatures run away from Indosuchus when they come face to face with its breath but Nameless aren't one of them, in order to deter them Indosuchus will go out of its way to consume charge light emitting creatures and certain bioluminescent plant seeds & fruits to turn its corrosive breath into a glowing corrosive breath capable of blinding adversaries who have the misfortune of being in its way. Domesticated: Indosuchus Diablovenator is an incredibly popular creature for survivors to tame due to its ability to traverse the deepest parts of the caverns and its anti-nameless breath. One should note that taming Indosuchus can prove to be a bit difficult as it seems only Nameless venom will pacify them into being tamed. On its anti-nameless breath certain survivors have trained Indosuchus to fire its breath in multiple ways, the two most common ways are 1. A slow moving "breath ball" similar to how a Basilisk spits its venom and 2. A rapid-fire method where Indosuchus fires multiple diminutive but fast moving breath balls at targets, the fire-rate specifically is similar to the very advanced element rifles the group of survivors I'm with mainly use. Technical Stuff: Basic Rundown of what it can do/is. ⦁ A Medium Sized Theropod that's been upscaled a bit to the size of Ark's Baryonyx. ⦁ It is capable of swimming on the surface of molten element and is immune to radiation, emphasis on the surface of molten element. ⦁ It has a breath attack where it spews a corrosive gas like a flamethrower that deals damage and that's kind it. ⦁ If it kills a charge light-emitting creature or consumes a Plant Species Z seed or fruit it's breath attack gets the ability to blind enemies (similar to how Plant Z Fruit flashbang stuff) after a while of using the breath attack on them. However, after a few minutes or so the buff will go away. When buffed the breath attacks will do extra damage to Nameless and Reapers ⦁ Once tamed you can use the breath (buffed or not) in multiple different modes not just the flamethrower-like mode. ⦁ The first new firing mode similar to the Basilisk's spit in that it fires a ball of corrosive gas, it will instantly flashbang enemies if buffed however the ball is slow moving. ⦁ The Second Mode is similar in fire rate to a Tek Rifle, unlike the first mode if buffed the breath attacks will not instantly flashbang enemies instead you need to do several shots to the head of your enemies in order to blind them. ⦁ If you use too much of the charge breath will buffed you will get out of the buff early regardless of mode so don't just spam. ⦁ In order to tame it you must knock it unconscious the usual style then feed it Nameless Venom.
  9. (big rideable glow pet) Introducing Kosmoceratops, the Starlight Ceratopsian! Tags: herbivore, ceratopsian, flashbang, support, healer, soaker, seeker allies, armor reduction Credit to Nix Illustration for Design Common Name: Kosmoceratops Species: Kosmoceratops lumitaurus Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Territorial Wild: “It’s astonishing how well adapted some of the creatures in these caverns are. Kosmoceratops lumitaurus is the largest creature I’ve discovered thus far that produces that intense bioluminescent charge that keeps Nameless at bay… and attracts a private army of Chimaeram. Great… Whether it be dominance, ego, or just plain fun, these ceratopsians challenge not only other Kosmoceratops, but other threatening species as well, including survivors! They bow down in respect to those who can best them in a one-on-one spar. Any lunatics out there might be able to use this to their advantage.” Domesticated: “After gaining the respect of this starlight behemoth, survivors may find a variety of uses for them. They have a notable amount of durability thanks to their head armor, and they possess a glowing, corrosive saliva that melts through armor thanks to the plants it consumes. I think I’ll not have what they’re having, thank you. A large dinosaur that emits charge that repels Nameless and is immune to high concentrations of radiation makes it an excellent mount to traverse the lower reaches of these caverns. Introduction: Greetings, survivors! I introduce to you the flashbang bastion; the Kosmoceratops! The foundational ideas and selling points for this dinosaur include: Role as a mid-game support that can be used in endgame PvP Rideable glow pet Radiation and plant z immunity Ability to heal allies and blind enemies Ability to corrode and highlight enemies with bite attacks I personally think Kosmoceratops, or at the very least this concept, should be added to the game due to an oversaturation of apex predators in the PvP metagame as well as expanding upon one of the most unique (and one of my personal favorite) maps in the game. Ceratopsians in general need a little more love than just Triceratops and Pachyrhinosaurus. Adding this behemoth would help spice the meta up and give people more reason to play on ARK: Aberration. Wild: Kosmoceratops live in the malfunctioning ARK’s bio-luminescent marshlands and molten element canyons, being the only large herbivore found in the latter zone. They can spawn on their own or in herds of up to three members. They are naturally territorial, and will tend to gang up on large carnivores that pose a threat to them. Kosmoceratops tend to be more aggressive in these herds, so it is highly advised to avoid them whenever possible. While on their own they are still a force to be reckoned with, they behave in a slightly different manner… Like glow pets, Kosmoceratops produce a constant aura of charge which can repel Nameless and attract Seekers. Seekers aren’t naturally hostile towards these dinosaurs, respecting them as a source of food, and will typically assist them in combat. When low on health, the ceratopsian can emit a blinding light from its frill and horns to disorient threats before speeding away. Taming Process: To be tamed, this dinosaur must be separate from any herd or any Seekers. Having aggroed the herd prior won’t trigger the process. Once isolated, the process will begin when the Kosmoceratops performs an animation, blinking its frill lights and kicking up the dirt. The dinosaur is challenging you to a one-on-one spar. The frill constantly pulsating light faintly is a sign the Kosmo is undergoing the taming process. If any other creature or survivor interferes, regardless of friend or foe, the taming bar will return to 0. After dealing 75% of the dinosaur’s total health in the battle, it will bow down in exhaustion. Step forward and claim your reward. Tamed: Congratulations! You’ve successfully tamed a Kosmoceratops! Now with this bioluminescent barbarian in your hands, life in the caverns of the aberrant ARK should be much more convenient. Actions: Primary Attack (, , ): Click: A sweeping head attack with noticeable knockback. The Kosmoceratops can turn 180-degrees if looking backward. Hold: A charged bite attack that increases in damage the longer it is held. This bite leaves a unique status induced by the dinosaur’s saliva, which corrodes its way through health, armor, and even metal structures. The saliva itself is also bioluminescent, highlighting bitten enemies with a bright light that friends and foes can see. The duration of this status also scales with the attack’s wind up time. Secondary Attack (, , ): The range of this move scales with Charge Range / Melee Damage. Click: A violent flash of light erupts from the dinosaur’s frill, inducing the same effect as plant z fruit. This requires a large amount of charge to use. Hold: The ceratopsian’s light creates an aura of healing in front of itself, acting like the animal equivalent of a plant z. It heals at around the same rate, though drains charge fast. Taunting Roar (Click C, , ): The Kosmoceratops’s roar taunts wild and tamed creatures like a Magmasaur. However, its own defenses and damage are increased. Crouch (Press Space, , ): The Kosmoceratops hunkers down into a defensive state, taking significantly reduced damage at the cost of not being able to attack or move much at all. Passive Abilities: Charge Light: Kosmoceratops essentially operates like a giant, rideable glow pet! Much like the Bulbdog and its peers, Kosmoceratops’ stats also upgrade its charge light capabilities. Stamina correlates with Charge Capacity, Oxygen with Charge Regeneration, and Melee Damage with Charge Range. You can activate the charge light while mounted in the same way lifesteal can be enabled while riding a Desmodus. Batteries can also be charged within the dino’s inventory like a charge station, though at a slower rate. Seeker Symbiosis: Seekers will gather around Kosmoceratops, but won’t attack them or their rider. They instead become allies, attacking threats that get too close to their food source. Damage-to-Head Reduction: Like the Triceratops, the Kosmoceratops possesses damage reduction on its head, though not as effective. Gathering: Kosmoceratops can gather berries and minerals fairly well with its bite. However, it is most proficient at gathering element ore, and one of the best tools to mine the resource. Immunities: Kosmoceratops are immune to the effects of radiation and plant z fruits. Turn in Place: While not moving, a Kosmoceratops can turn to the direction the rider is facing similarly to Spinosaurus. Utility & Scenarios: PvE: Kosmoceratops are great for traversing the caverns of the aberrant ARK, though lacking a solid turn while sprinting. Riders can wander on Kosmo back to farm for rare materials in the lower reaches of the blue and red zones with their radiation immunity and charge light. Reapers and Nameless are repelled by their light, and Seekers are attracted to it, though becoming temporary allies with the dinosaur and their rider. Kosmoceratops are one of the best ways to retrieve Rock Drake eggs early on before getting replaced by Rock Drakes themselves for that niche. PvP: This ceratopsian is designed as a support class along with the likes of Daeodons, Yutyrannus, and Snow Owls. They aren’t very good at dealing a lot of damage, and they are far from the tankiest creature in the game. By blinding, highlighting, and taunting enemies and healing allies, the Kosmoceratops provides essential aid that could bring favor to a matchup, even if the dinosaur itself isn’t directly fighting. It also acts as a good soaker with the damage reduction it gets from its taunt, crouch, and head armor. Chargelight invalidates the presence of Reapers, removing more danger from potential confrontations. The lack of damage output is their greatest weakness, not being nearly as strong as other creatures of its size class. It lacks the tools to completely defend its blindspots, especially from faster tames like Deinonychus, Thylacoleos, and fliers. Conclusion: Outside of the obvious Triceratops comparisons, Kosmoceratops lacks much overlap in terms of utility and niche in a tribe’s roster. A very complex and strong creature, but balanced out by notable weaknesses that ensure it doesn’t usurp other dinos. It has been a while since we’ve gotten a creature designed to be a support in PvP, so I hope this works out for that niche! Have fun, survivors! References (Accurate & Inaccurate):
