DREPANOSAURUS INVISIBILIS ~🦖Dossier by CK Larsen🦖~ High Res Link for Photo: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zsE9Mbw3eYXrhWoUWu0OGQx24ADbuE8B/view?usp=sharing ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WILD Perched upon the gnarled branches of the jungle and lurking beneath overhangs, Drepanosaurus invisibilis is a peculiar sight—if one manages to see it at all. This small, yet formidable reptile possesses an astonishing natural camouflage that allows it to blend seamlessly with its surroundings. Unlike the passive tree-dwellers of its lineage, this Drepanosaurus has adapted a cunning predatory streak, specializing in hunting and repelling the bane of many survivors—the thieving Ichthyornis. Despite its small size, Drepanosaurus invisibilis has become a terror to these aerial pests. With a lightning-fast flick of its specialized tongue, it delivers a stunning slap that sends even the boldest Ichthyornis squawking in terror, causing them to flee instantly. This remarkable ability has led many survivors to consider them the ultimate countermeasure against the relentless sky-born thieves. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------DOMESTICATED Survivors who manage to befriend and tame a Drepanosaurus invisibilis find themselves in possession of an invaluable companion. Its natural camouflage extends beyond mere survival tactics—it has the ability to hide a tamer’s body, rendering them nearly invisible to both creatures and enemy players alike. This effect makes them a game-changer for stealth-based tactics, perfect for ambushes or evading unwanted attention. Additionally, with its quick tongue and natural hatred for Ichthyornis, a trained Drepanosaurus invisibilis will instinctively lash out at any of the winged pests that come too close, protecting its owner from being robbed of valuable goods. Few creatures command such fear from these birds, making it a must-have for survivors plagued by the airborne menace. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTABLE ABILITIES Camouflage Cloak: When attached to a survivor, the Drepanosaurus alters its pigments to blend them into the environment, significantly reducing enemy detection. Ichthyornis Bane: With its quick reflexes and powerful tongue strike, it delivers a hit so unnerving that any Ichthyornis struck will immediately flee, preventing them from stealing items or harassing survivors. Tree Dweller: Excels at climbing and perching on surfaces, making it an excellent scout in dense foliage. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TAMING PROCESS Unlike most creatures, Drepanosaurus invisibilis requires a keen eye and an understanding of its color-changing abilities to be tamed. The process begins by offering it a piece of chitin, which it eagerly accepts as a sign of trust. Once engaged, the reptile will begin shifting colors in a mesmerizing display. To successfully tame it, a survivor must match the color it displays with the correct berry: Red Hue: Tintoberries Blue Hue: Azulberries Yellow Hue: Amarberries Purple Hue: Mejoberries White Hue: Stimberries Failure to provide the correct berry will cause the Drepanosaurus to lose interest and flee, forcing the survivor to restart the taming process. With patience and a keen sense of observation, those who master this unique method will be rewarded with one of the most elusive and strategically valuable companions the Ark has to offer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many survivors overlook the power of small creatures, but those who understand Drepanosaurus invisibilis quickly learn that stealth and precision often outmatch brute force. ~ *** ~

insectivorous Calumma Benovskyi "the power of the tongue"
Zaimon posted a suggestion in Creature Submissions
Presentation: Hello everyone, and welcome! We are thrilled to introduce you to an extraordinary creature that promises to revolutionize our adventures in the world of ARK: the Calumma Benovskyi. This formidable chameleon not only amazes with its majesty but also with its unique abilities, making it an indispensable ally for any survivor. Wild: In the remote corners of the Aberrant caves and even in the highest treetops of the Red Wood forests, an astonishing creature emerged: the Calumma Benovskyi, a chameleon of colossal proportions. Its dazzling colors and imposing size left survivors in awe, who dubbed it the legendary “Gigameleon.” This magnificent creature is capable of camouflaging itself depending on the circumstances. It uses this ability both to hide from its enemies and to surprise its prey, capturing it with its long tongue. It tends to be quite solitary and has a friendly appearance, but survivors who were lured by its harmless look suffered from its impressive tail skill and multiple injuries before they could even blink. Domesticated: Many survivors claim that the Calumma Benovskyi is the ultimate mount. Its adaptability and strength make it an exceptional companion for those daring enough to tame it. Capable of withstanding the intense pressure of radiation, this creature is a true symbol of resilience. Its ferocity and versatility make it invaluable for defense, offense, exploration, and efficiently gathering resources. A tamed Calumma Benovskyi is one of the most effective mounts a survivor can have. It can be trained to draw enemies with its powerful tongue, and each gender of Calumma offers a unique benefit to those who manage to tame it. Abilities: As our beloved Calumma Benovskyi has continued to thrive in the world of ARK, numerous abilities have been discovered, making it even more fascinating. One of the most remarkable traits of this magnificent chameleon is its powerful tongue, capable of catching even wild flying dinosaurs. This ability makes it an invaluable companion when venturing into and exploring the most dangerous and radioactive regions of ARK. Attacks (Technically Explained): • (RC) Its powerful tongue acts as an anchor, capable of pulling enemies toward it or dismounting riders from enemy creatures. This ability allows it to execute a combo of lethal strikes and can even grapple dinosaurs ranging from the smallest to the size of a Therizinosaur. Additionally, it can skillfully ensnare flying creatures with its tongue, drawing them in for a close-quarters battle. • (LC) A combo of lethal strikes consisting of two consecutive hits, finishing with a powerful bite. • (C): Its strong, robust tail can slow down enemy mounts or even stun survivors who dare to confront it. • (Q): It can switch its tongue mode to steal items directly from its adversaries’ inventories, making it a cunning thief. • (Space): It can adapt to any surface, easily walking on walls, trees, and even ziplines. • (CTRL): It has the ability to camouflage itself with its surroundings. • (Gesture playback - "Clap"): Activates its bioluminescent scales, generating its own light, providing illumination. • (Z): Females only can launch a poison pouch that, upon impact with a surface or creature, releases a pool of venom causing corrosive damage to those who remain in the affected area. • (Z): Males only allow their rider to hide behind their massive head, granting immunity to all forms of damage. Attacks or Passive Abilities (Technically Explained): • One of its abilities is the capacity to spin on its own axis using its eyes. • It has been demonstrated that its eyes can perceive a wide range of light, from ultraviolet to infrared. • It has astonishing resistance to high levels of radiation. • It possesses a healing ability when feeding on insects. • It can induce a state of torpor in the creatures it captures, temporarily immobilizing them. • Each gender of Calumma Benovskyi presents different abilities. • Both its bite and the impact of its tongue in combat can inflict torpor on its opponents. • The large eyes of Calumma can be intimidating to other creatures. By fixing its penetrating gaze on its target, it can make them feel nervous and lose control (a form of fear). Taming: Taming Calumma Benovskyi can be an exciting challenge, but it requires caution and patience. Here's a method to carry out this process: 1. Keep your distance and survey the terrain: Due to its territorial nature, it is crucial to approach the Calumma cautiously and observe it from a distance for a period of time. 2. Use pheromones: During observation, there is a possibility that Calumma may spit or defecate a special pheromone. This pheromone can be collected and sprayed on your own body to generate a calming and trusting effect on the creature. 3. Prepare chitin: Make sure to have chitin in your inventory before attempting taming. Calumma uses its tongue to steal chitin, so by having it available, it will be attracted and more willing to interact with you. 4. Feed its appetite: During the taming process, Calumma may start requesting corpses of giant insects. If you find any, drag them close to the creature, and it will use its tongue to grab and feed on them. This act will further strengthen the bond between you and increase the chances of successful taming. "Note" that you should keep the pheromone and chitin available throughout the taming process to maintain the creature's calmness. Be careful because if the pheromone effect wears off, Calumma may proceed to attack you or, if it's far away, steal valuable items from your inventory. Location: • Redwood: The Calumma Benovskyi is a chameleon that blends seamlessly into forested environments. Look for it in the treetops, though it rarely descends to search for food, preferring to remain perched on branches, waiting for its prey. • Swamp: The Calumma Benovskyi also resides in dark and humid swamps, where it uses its camouflage ability to blend into the foliage and submerged logs. In this environment, it employs its long tongue to hunt insects and creatures that are abundant in the area. • Aberrant Cave: The Calumma Benovskyi might be found in areas with greater light presence and bioluminescent organisms. Explore mountainous regions, cave walls, cliffs, and search within cracks and crevices where it may be hiding. Here's a reference to comparative size: Abilities - More Detailed Explanation: • The Calumma Benovskyi's most remarkable ability is its powerful tongue, capable of holding dinosaurs up to the size of a Therizinosaur or smaller, as well as dismounting riders from their mounts. It can even ensnare medium-sized flying creatures as if they were mere flies. • Another notable ability, both in its tamed state and during the taming process, is the capacity to use its tongue as a whip. There is a chance to retrieve weapons, tools, or resources from the enemy's inventory when using this ability. • The camouflage of Calumma Benovskyi has been innovatively designed. This ability allows it to adapt the texture of its skin to the environment it's in, becoming practically unrecognizable and undetectable even to the keen senses of a Parasaur. Additionally, when in normal terrain, it has the ability to become invisible, like in classic camouflage. • The tail of Calumma Benovskyi is a special feature. Due to its impressive size, it can deliver powerful strikes with its tail, capable of slowing down the enemy and hindering their ability to run or escape. The duration of this slowdown varies depending on the size of the enemy dinosaur, being longer for smaller ones and shorter for larger ones. • The gender variants of Calumma are distinguished by their colors and head characteristics. The male has a prominent crest on the top of its head and slightly raised spines on its back. On the other hand, the female has a somewhat smaller crest on the head and smaller spines. Passive Abilities by Gender: • Male Calumma Benovskyi possess an enormous crest that allows them to shield survivors from projectiles and incoming attacks. • On the other hand, females have the ability to convert their torpor into venom, increasing the damage they deal with each bite or when using their tongue. Additionally, they can craft a new item in their inventory and spit venomous balls, creating toxic pools that affect anyone within the area. • This new item is the Poison Arrow, crafted from the female Calumma's venomous saliva. When used with bows and crossbows, the Poison Arrow damages the targeted survivors or creatures, inflicting an effect that gradually deteriorates the enemy's health over time. Breeding: A pair of Calummas will give birth to a small chameleon. As a teaching method, it will ask you to carry it on your shoulder and will begin practicing camouflage with you so that when it becomes an adult, it can camouflage both its mount and its large size. The baby Calumma also has the ability to capture and eat meganeuras or titanomyrmas while on your shoulder, providing it with food in its inventory. Furthermore, if you give it a rock drake feather or a reaper pheromone, the baby Calumma will remain in a small size and can camouflage with you while on your shoulder. This will be especially useful for stealthy missions or expeditions. This is the initial concept for the mount, designed to help you carry a bit more weight with the included backpack. Additionally, females will be able to craft poison arrows while equipped with the mount.
