cloner Glaucopsyche xerces, The Organic Cloner/mimic!
wolfbanefist posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
Glaucopsyche xerces Note* not good at drawing so no current photos. An Extinct butterfly near the regions of California, USA. The story of this creature is that the Survivors that lived on extinction was trying to save it from dying off. They were working on a Tek Variant of this creature. when they were finished with the design, they realized that the creature still existed by using its larvae to attach itself to a host, without a host it continues to grow into a butterfly. The creature would then mimic the hosts DNA, when the creature was in its juvenile stage it would then turn into a cocoon, growing bigger and bigger till it reaches adulthood breaking out of the cocoon the creature would then take the form of its host. A researcher was so fascinated by this creature that he sought ways to tame the creature. He found that mixing rare flowers and blood from blood pacts would do the trick and named the final product Blood lotuses. The Xerces was a passive aggressive creature but would still be territorial whenever the scent of blood was nearby. eventually the corruption happened and took over some of these creatures, they started mimicking survivors that died in the wild and it caused fear and panic amongst the survivors that some deemed it too dangerous to keep it near their homes. The researcher who who loved these creatures went out to do more research with a survivor who claimed they loved this creature and to be safe he had written down the information to tame these creatures and the way to ride them as well. He knew his life could be in danger at any given moment and made sure his work could be continued. later survivors found the researcher and the survivor that went with him as a corrupted in the wilderness. The information written from this researcher concludes below: the size of this creature is a large creature similar in size to a gasbag with wings. however, the form of the host the larvae attaches to is size it will grow to. these larvae tend not to have a need for oxygen, they have adapted to living in water similar to leeches. To tame the creature, requires the mixture of rare flowers and blood pacts to create blood lotuses. Using the Blood lotuses to attract the creature, you then have to stay alive as it uses you like a flower. however, you are being attacked by other creatures in the process if you are not careful. The saddle for the creature is unique as it fits 2 riders. the idea is similar to a hoversail 1 survivor is fitted on the front of the creature as the 2nd rider is on its back. in a regular environment the creature's wing attack acts like a psychedelic attack, it disorients the survivor as it inflicts damage from intense winds. (similar to mushrooms on abberation) when it attacks in the snowy areas it slows you down and the cold intensifies. when it attacks in an intense heat area like deserts it increases the heat and causes a survivor to catch on fire in rare cases. its special attack shoots a long stream of silk that wraps you in a cocoon like statue that you'll need to cut through. 3 variants of this creature exists: The Organic Xerces, The Tek Xerces and the Corrupted Xerces. The researcher was in love with the patterns of the xerces he added a way to create a new gliding suit using the Xerces as inspiration. Using the inspiration of butterfly wings for a new glider suit was really popular amongst the children despite how dangerous the creatures were in the eyes of the survivors. The Larvae babies of the butterfly when attaching itself to a host act like a clone/mimic of the host takes the same growth rate to reach adulthood. If a Carbonemys takes 28 hours to raise to adulthood so won't the larvae. ---- The reason of creating this creature is because tames like quetzals cost way too much shards that can't even be fit into a cloning chamber. Something unique that would be interesting to all parties from pve and pvp.-

Papilio Belua the Brute Wurm/Glarewing. A Metamorphosis.
Gozukizuki posted a suggestion in Creature submission archive
NAME: Brute Wurm/ Glarewing SPECIES: Papilio belua TEMPERAMENT: Adults: skittish and protective babies: friendly About: The papilio belua, aka Brute Wurm/Glarewing, a timeless wonder of nature with the power to undergo metamorphosis! I have always dreamed of riding a rowdy caterpillar in this game, and why not do something interesting with it and allow it become a stunning butterfly as well! This creature is in spired by the hickory horned devil caterpillar, emperor caterpillars and various swallowtail butterflies and a few moths (as well as a healthy dose of love for invertebrates!) I wanted to make something fun to raise, tame and ride. As well as something fun to look at and interact with, something alive! Bringing unique flavor to a map I have always loved. The caterpillar goes through 3 stages, called instars. The first instar being the babies (caterpups as I like to call them) that can be found in the wild. The second instar, being the juvenile and adolescent stage, and the Final Instar, the “adult caterpillar”, which is its own creature, called the Brute Wurm, with unique abilities. After that the player can choose to gorge the Final Instar caterpillar and that allows it to pupate and emerge into a true adult with its own set of unique abilities. IMPORTANT NOTE: in the event that this might be considered two tames and it has to be pared down to one or the other, my official submission is the Brute Wurm. The taming, behavior, and stats will be the same, but no pupation mechanics. Breedable and adults seen in the wild with babies. Brute Wurm Glarewing Link to high res pics because it made me destroy the pictures to post this x.x Wild: The papilio belua resides among the rocky spires in the jungles of the Center. Adult Glarewings are peaceful, beautiful and grand, only touching the ground to feed. Adults are usually seen watching over little, 1st instar caterpups that nibble at the mosses and rocks in the safety of the steep cliffs. The larva are passive, even friendly, as they wiggle around the cliffs, using their strong jaws to munch away at the rocks surface, getting nutrients and minerals. Their munching can be heard from the ground if you listen! They are startled by loud noises are prone to wiggling themselves right off of the cliff if they become too startled. It can take them some time to become calm enough to make their way back up the cliffs and if their parent senses they are in danger, they will come to aid. While the adults do not do much damage they can create great gusts with the flap of their wings and stun survivors and tames with their dazzling wing spots to give their offspring an opportunity to escape. Adult Glarewings are not too keen on fighting and will usually flee after stunning. If killed, adults drop silk, meat and chitin, while babies only drop a small amount of meat. Wild caterpups not in a tantrum state can be pet by the player for fun, it does nothing, but it’s cute! Taming: While adult Glarewings can be bred, they cannot be tamed. To acquire a Glarewing you must steal and raise a caterpillar! Parents and young larva live high up on the rocky cliffs in the jungle spires on the Center. Due to their propensity to be startled by loud noises, detonating explosives or the roars of large carnivore close to the spire in short succession will cause the caterpups to “dance”. They will eventually fall off of the cliff and to the ground where they will proceed to have a wee caterpillar tantrum, thrashing about. This is when the taming process begins. During this time the player may calm them down with honey or petting. Honey provides better taming effectiveness. If the caterpillar becomes too stressed (not receiving the pets or honey) , the adult parent will descend on the player inflicting knock back and stuns as well as mildly damaging kicks to get the player away from the larva. Once the caterpillar is calmed it is considered “tamed”, and the player must carry them on their shoulder to a safe place to begin the raising process. Cryopods in the first instar will kill the larva. During the time a caterpup is shouldered, it gets the attention of hungry fliers ready to snatch the baby grub. Godspeed!! Tamed Abilities: Caterpup: While in the first instar (about an hours time) The the shouldered caterpillar attracts fliers in range who become hostile and will attack the player, wishing to eat the juicy grub. Brute Wurm: A large brutish creature the size of a small bus. An all terrain brawler boasting a stout HP pool. Existing in the same weight class as a thylacoleo while similarly allowing mounted shooting as well as climbing ability. Quite fast for its stature, it can outpace many creatures at full tilt. Abilities: -Catersmash: a simple frontal attack where the caterpillar slams its clawed forelegs at the enemy doing moderate damage. Moderate attack speed. -Cattering Ram: Brute Wurm charges, slowly picking up speed, does extra damage against doors and door-frames -Net gun string spit: shoots a web-like substance acting much like a net gun. -Barbaric thrash: the caterpillar swings its body wildly inflicting light damage and high knock back. Cannot be used while climbing. Glarewing: A somewhat delicate but fast flier capable of flying in any orientation and capable of landing and climbing on any surface. Similar statistically to a griffin with the speed of wyvern but can be saddled. Saddle allows for a driver and two machine gun turret positions. Can only pick up very small creatures and 1st instar larva. Alchemist: feeding on liquids through a proboscis, the Glarewing can gather from plants. Instead of getting berries and fiber, it can convert berries found in bushes into narcotics and if narcotics are inside the Glarewings inventory it will start making med brews. Abilities: -Kick: the Glarewing rears up and boxes the enemy with its legs. Light damage, light knock back. -Dodge: a quick directional arial dash for evasion. -Dazzling spots: large flashing spots on the wings stun the enemy similarly to baryonyx and microraptor. Can be used in flight but only affects targets directly below it. 30sec cooldown. -Wing Beat: creates a gust of wind with powerful wings. No damage, large knock back. Raising/breeding: Glarewings can bred normally and require no special conditions. Lays eggs. Baby caterpups are HUNGRY! They will eat both stone and fiber in the first instar, once they reach the second instar, they only eat fiber. They can be fed by maewings and eat from a trough once the second instar is reached. Once the second instar is reached it behaves much like most tames going through juvenile> adolescent>”Adult” aka Final Instar. They imprint as normal. METAMORPHOSIS: The Brute Wurm can be kept in its “adult” Final Instar form or the player can choose make the Brute Wurm pupate. Once at the “adult stage” the caterpillar can enter a “gorging state” through the behavior options. The player then can participate in a mini game where the caterpillar must be ridden in a reckless rampage through the brush, devouring all plant matter in its path until it is full (think eqqus but ROWDY BULLDOZER). Once full it will appear engorged and calm and the option for “pupate” will be available where gorge was previously. Provided with a vertical surface that is at least 3x2 walls in size, it will climb up, turn into a cocoon, and pupate for 7 days in-game time. During this time they cannot be cryopodded. This is a permanent change and cannot be reverted. Papilios in the cocooned state are very weak to fire. Additional notes and ideas: - caterpillar battering ram ability?? -skin shedding between instars -would be neat if untameable final instar brute wurms we’re running around wild, they would drop a lot of meat!!! -considered making the male Adult Glarewing have robust antenna that would be able to sniff out specific creatures and track them. A bit over the top though! -fun rodeo caterpillar rampage music for minigame??? -References for caterpillar thrashing and “dancing” animations: Reaction to noise https://youtube.com/shorts/EqF7EUUsLUo?feature=share Thrash attack inspiration https://youtu.be/xFzo1fpmMqU -Additional spawn location in the underground on the walls of the cavern! ✨✨✨Hope you like my idea! Thanks for reading and thanks for the opportunity!!!✨✨✨- 2 replies

My idea for Ragnarok is the “Sky Yuty” the Kalligrammatids, a way to get sap efficiently considering we’d not instantly have acces to the sap giving tree stumps when ASA launches so this would be a good substitute, a creature that works well with the other creatures that dropped with this map originally (Ice Wyvern and Griffin) and another useful flyer since there’s a con about basically every flyer. First off for spawns I’d feel like it’d be at home mainly in the large redwood forests aswell as perhaps the canyons and highlands/wyvern den they’d behave similar to a Quetzal and Tapejara at the same time, flying somewhat high in the sky and never landing like the Quetzal but being very skittish like the Tapejara, I also think that due to its aerial buffing nature it’d be interesting if it’d not get attacked by other wild flyers and perhaps receive protection from them similar to the Ammonite. Next up for abilities, Left click: simple attack with legs or sucky straw Right click: pickup in the air (can pick up similar things to an Argent or Desmodus) and wing flap on the ground similar to a Wyvern C button: a buffing call that’d mainly buff things essential for flyers like for example: weight reductions, stamina based buffs, reduced damage (especially for projectile based attacks) and maybe a speed buff for slowpokes like the Quetzal, Argent and Astrocetus (Space Whale) . X: taunt/debuff, would work similar to the Rhyniognatha’s taunt on small creatures and/or would give survivors a debuff where they take increased fall damage or can’t use parachutes, glide suits etc to increase the effectiveness of picking people off mounts with flyers. Passive(‘s): wouldn’t get attacked by flyers (possibly only for wild ones), could potentially buff other flyers passively for example a slight buff in resistance, stamina regen, speed or damage and the Kalligrammatids could maybe gain a small buff by being around other flyers maybe even from specific ones like gaining a slight fire resistance from Fire Wyverns or being able to land on water like the Rhyniognatha when near a Pelagornis. Movement: on the ground it’d be pretty slow and not agile similar to the Lymantria like real world butterflies but in the air also similar to real butterflies would have a speed in between the Tapejara and Pteranodon while also being very agile like the Tapejara, Griffin, Desmodus and Rhyniognatha allowing it to go sideways, up, down etc. Stats/Tier: in terms of health it’d be similar to the Argentavis due to its bulk and size (might drop a size reference later), the stamina would be in between that of a Pteranodon and Argentavis with it having similar weight to a Desmodus maybe slight higher due to its size and large wings, in terms of damage it’d only deal low amounts of damage similar to Gasbags although probably slightly higher damage. Diet: Sap, Blood, Rare Flowers also that being the order of preference when taming, sap being the Mejoberry/raw meat, blood being the crop/prime meat and the rare flowers being the kibble or at least similar to mutton in effectiveness. Drops: would definitely drop: Raw meat and Chitin and would also maybe drop: Prime meat, Silk and/or Sap. Sap production/gatherer: there’s 3 ways I can invision this critter collecting sap, number 1 being: it buffing already existing sap taps maybe working extra well with Amargasaurus (could also apply for the other methods in some way) number 2: it collecting sap from the smaller redwood trees when it destroys them similar to how a Desmodus collects blood packs from creatures unlike any other creature, number 3 (and my favorite one): it hanging onto redwood trees like the Tapejara and with that passively collecting sap at a faster pace than tree sap taps (since tree sap taps are slow and look boring) . Taming method: eat a rare flower, this causes the Kalligrammatids to smell said rare flower and/or your sweat (like real life butterflies sorry for exposing this weird fact) which causes them to want to come close, this causes a sort of minigame in which other creatures will attack u (which wouldn’t damage the Kalligrammatids) but it’s not like u can fight back because that would scare it off, when it comes close enough and if you’ve survived upto this point you can passively feed it the earlier mentioned taming foods. My reason for choosing this creature: we already have a butterfly (I know it’s a moth but they’re very similar things) but it’s useless so I thought it’d be cool to get a new one, besides that the only useful insect is still pretty much just the Rhyniognatha so why not add another one + a giant butterfly would look insanely cool and I feel like with the ground work of this submission and the creatures we’ve been getting lately (mainly the Rhyniognatha and Carchar) I feel like the possibilities for this thing could be endless, especially on a new engine, besides that I just really wanted to add a creature that’d fit the map and the other Ragnarok exclusive creatures (eventhough they’re not really exclusive atp) which brought me to a flyer that could buff others + sap is hard to get and this way it’s way more fun than waiting on your tree sap taps + it’d fit the map perfectly with it being a majestic high flying flyer that could possibly roam above the huge cliffs (the ones with the armies of Spinos at the bottom), roam around the red forest’s canopies and could fly around the wyvern trench (like other insects). Hope you like this submission, if I can I’ll get some art to get a perspective on design and size, leave suggestions down below if you want (sadly the only good picture I could find is too big to add to the submission so you’re gonna have to Google it yourself if u want but to be fair we all know what a butterfly looks like).
