Back again with Hallucigenia, lets go!!! :D

Unfortunately I don't have an alternative idea for hallucigenia on Aberration, my original idea being for a water creature doesn't quite work on Aberration since there is so little water on the map.. though it's not impossible I guess.

But nevertheless, I am backing this creature again and all your ideas for it.
Hallucigenia definitely looks like something that would haunt the Aberration map and I really hope we can get it in the top 10 this time ^^

Good Luck fellow hallucigenia advocates, lets get this worm in the game!! ^^

Hallucigenia Dossier

Creature Submission

Final

By CMBXP

[Wild]

In the luminescence of these caverns, there lies an adorable, little, tough creature! Hallucigenia Fortis is a arm-sized lobopodian from the Cambrian period, that never backs down from a fight. When mid-sized creatures try to pick a fight with it, they usually end in the attacker being bloodied. Hallucigenia uses its slime from its glands to stun attackers and even, prey.

[Domesticated]

When domesticated, tribes have used hallucigenia for three main things: defense, stunning, and swinging. The defense part of hallucigenia comes in it being a shoulder pet, survivors are able to put two of them on them. When survivors put them on their shoulders, when raptors or anything of the sort attack them, they’ll bleed, and the survivor will take reduced damage. The stunning part comes into the slime hallucigenia shoots out. Survivors are able to target creatures so the hallucigenia can stun them, and they can make a quick escape. The swinging part also uses the slime, but you’ll need two hallucigenia to do it. When swinging around, survivors have to look at their hallucigenia stamina, or they’ll be falling to the ground.

Nice, I had the same idea concept with defence but I never thought of having Hallucigenia as a living weapon you could swing around..

That's a very interesting idea that I can see a lot of potential in.

Imagine if Hallucigenia was able to be equipped as spikey armour, used as a spikey whip that could bleed things, used as a long range weapon that shoots slime to slow down creatures and players or even thrown as a Bola to completely immobilise players and small to medium creatures for a short time.. possibly leaving them wounded/crippled after being let go.

That would be so cool :D

Hallucigenia,
The Walking “Hallucination”

1030660716_HallucigeniaDossier.png.d456f199fc86c0a9274c3b3f15d8a453.png

Real Life Facts:
The Hallucigenia was a distinctly shaped creature in the Cambrian Era. It walked on its tendrils, which made it unique from other creatures. The Hallucigenia was given its name because people thought it looked like a hallucination. The Hallucigenia went extinct during the Cambrian-Ordovician extinction event about 488 million years ago.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Description:
The Hallucigenia, an ethereal creature of Aberration, thrives by harnessing the power of water and hallucination. Its versatile tendrils allow it to navigate the harsh terrain with ease, both on land and water. The Hallucigenia is bioluminescent in water and possess hallucinatory abilities, hence the name. Unlike other creatures, the Hallucigenia relies solely on water for sustenance, making trips to lakes a necessity for hydration or using jars and canteens to hydrate it. The Hallucigenia is all about hallucinations, making it fitting for Aberration.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Hydration:
The Hallucigenia relies solely on water for sustenance, being the only dinosaur in the game that requires water instead of food. If you intend to bring it onto land, make sure to equip yourself with canteens or water jars. Be mindful that some abilities consume water. There is a special irrigation saddle that helps with hydration. (This will be mentioned later)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Tendrils:
The Hallucigenia tendrils allow it to traverse terrain with ease. It can climb up steep slopes. It can also wrap its tendrils around trees and pillars to climb up them, making it easier to access your elevated tree platforms. Its tendrils also are used in combat.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Hallucinations:
In the Cambrian Era, people named this creature the Hallucigenia because it looked like a hallucination. So in the Ark-version, this creature will have actual hallucinatory abilities that allow you to outsmart your opponents. These hallucinations also fit with the Aberration theme as some mushrooms in the environment give the same effect.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Why This Creature Fits In Aberration:
The Hallucigenia fits in Aberration because it is the most optimized for Aberration. It looks distinctive like many other creatures in Aberration and has many traits that would help especially on Aberration. Its hallucinations fit perfectly with this map.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Combat:

Primary Attack (Left Click) - Tendril Swipe:
The tendril will whack the creatures in front of it with a swipe, dealing splash damage.

Hold Primary Attack (Hold Left Click) - Charged Tendril Swipe:
Charge up the primary attack to deal a more powerful tendril swipe.

Secondary Attack (Right Click) - Tendril Thrust:
The tendrils are quite sharp, so the Hallucigenia can stab its foes with them. Pressing right click will thrust its tendril and stab a single target.

Hold Secondary Attack (Hold Right Click) - Hallucinatory Injection:
Charges the tendril with hallucinatory fluid. Once thrusted, this hallucinatory fluid will inject into the target, giving the hallucination effect; distorting vision and suffocating it.

Ability (C) - Hallucinatory Pheromones:
The Hallucigenia can release pheromones that manipulate the behavior of nearby creatures. It can temporarily control the actions of smaller creatures, causing them to become docile or even turn against their own kind, providing the Hallucigenia with temporary allies or distractions. These pheromones can also drain the energy of nearby electrical or radioactive sources found in Aberration, making this useful for PvP.

Ability (X) - Adaptive Appendages:
The Hallucigenia has a unique ability to modify the shape and function of its spines and tentacles. It can transform them into sharp defensive structures for protection, or elongate them to serve as grappling hooks, allowing it to climb vertical surfaces or traverse the hazardous terrain of Aberration.

Ability (Z) - Splash Sense:
The Hallucigenia has the ability to sense the splashes in nearby bodies of water, similar to a parasaur. As you can imagine, this can be very useful on expeditions.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Special Irrigation Saddle:
The Hallucigenia can be ridden without a saddle, but if you are planning to go on long land expeditions with it, you should probably craft one. The saddle of the Hallucigenia features a complex network of water tubes that connect to its tendrils. The saddle will keep the Hallucigenia hydrated for longer.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Taming Method:
In order to begin the taming process, you must first craft a fluid lure. This lure essentially is a water pump to entice the Hallucigenia into drinking from it. While the creature indulges, be prepared for potential attacks from other creatures. Your role is to skillfully protect both the Hallucigenia and the fluid lure from incoming enemies without agitating the creature. Strategic defenses such as spiked walls and turrets could be useful in this process. Just don’t build too close to the Hallucigenia, as it may aggravate it. Once it drinks enough water, you’ll have yourself a tamed Hallucigenia.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Extra Features:
- Bioluminescent in water
- Gains buff at max hydration

────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Why should you vote for this creature?
- It is the only creature in the game with a water meter
- Has a fun and engaging taming process
- Has a weird and distinctive look
- Can be ridden with or without a saddle
- Fun to use
- Fits in with the Aberration theme
- Useful for PvP and PvE
- Unlike any other dinosaur in the game
- Abilities optimized for Aberration’s environment
