Dossier -

Wild; Arguably one of the bravest and most stubborn of the Ark’s creatures, wild Saltasaur’s are commonly seen roaming near the mountains and beaches in herds of 5-7. They rely on their whiplike tails and armored bodies to protect themselves from the Allosaurus, their main predators, and the occasional Tyranosaurus. They are known for holding their ground, coming together to either stomp or lash enemies instead of running and stampeding when threatened.

Domesticated; While not matching the Brontosaurus in size, a domesticated Saltasaurus provides one of the greatest uses for traveling caravans of any land creature. Due to their brave and calm natures, these creatures are able to wear specialized Platform saddles with a set of platforms hanging on each side for both mounted and auto turrets, being unfazed by the noise. Their dauntless nature also proves effective in resisting fear tactics employed by creatures such as the Yutyranus.

Behavior -

Saltasaurus are often seen roaming the beaches and mountains, defending themselves from predators of all sizes. They follow the strongest member of the herd as they roam, never fleeing from a fight and challenging other Saltasaurus they encounter.

Drops -

Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat, Hide, Ketatin

Taming -

Due to their heartiness and thick armor, Saltasaurus cannot be knocked out by ordinary means. Instead you must knock it out with cannons or catapults, then feed it it’s preferred berries or kibble.

Utility -

A Saltasaur’s main purpose is to defend groups of traveling tames and defending the lines of battle.

Abilities;

Primary Attack; Tail Whip. Saltasaurus whips its tail around it’s body, lashing out at anything around it.

Secondary Attack; Slash Attack. Saltasaurus Will rear back and flail it’s forward legs, brandishing it’s large thumb claws. These have short range but relatively high damage and a bleed effect, dealing extra damage to anything crushed by the legs when they come back down.

Passive; Armored Hide. Its Armored Hide causes the Saltasaurus to take reduced damage from all attacks.

Passive (Secondary); Dauntless Beast. Saltasaurus knows no fear, and is immune to fear effects from enemies such as the Yutyrannus and Rhyniognatha.

Roles -

  • Tank. The Saltasaurus’ armor allows it to tank many hits for its allies.
  • Mobile Defense Platform. Using the Saltasaurus’ unique platform saddle, you can equip the Saltasaurus with auto-turrets and mounted weaponry on the sides, and use the small platform on the back for power and shield generators.

Special Saddle -

The Saltasaurus Saddle is a pseudo platform saddle. Instead of one large continuous platform, there is one small platform on the back and two on the sides. All 3 platforms will remain level independent of the Saltasaurus, and turrets as well as generators (for power and/or shields) can be placed on them, turning your Saltasaurus into a Mobile Defense Platform.
