One of the greatest struggles while playing through the Scorched Earth map is obtaining your very first wyvern egg. Many of the creatures available on that map are either too slow or have difficulty getting in and out of the trench. One commonly used method is to build a turret tower to kill all of the wyverns, but this can take a lot of time and resources. That's where the Khaan comes in. By utilising it's versatile mobility, survivors can grab their first egg without needing to farm for metal beforehand.

Abilities:  *Speculation*

- The Khaan will have a very fast running speed to make up for its lacking combat ability.

- It will have a large jump and take heavily reduced fall damage.

- By pressing the 'pick' button, the Khaan will be able to puff out its feathers and scare small hostile creatures (similar to the Parasaur). This will have a large cooldown after each use.

- You will be able to climb on vertical surfaces similar to the Deinonychus (Can only travel straight up and down).

- It will also be able to have a glide ability similar to the Terror Bird.

- While gliding, the Khaan can fly upwards for a short period of time. However, doing so causes the oxygen meter the decrease. Once its oxygen reaches 0.1, the Khaan will stop gliding altogether, and will fall towards the ground, although it can still latch onto nearby surfaces while falling. Once the Khaan is back on the ground or latched onto a wall, the oxygen meter will increase again.

- The Khaan will have an ability to remotely pick up eggs without the rider needing to dismount. Since the Khaan is a successor to the oviraptor, picking up eggs will not cause nearby creatures to agrro.

- The Khaan will have an 80% weight reduction for ALL eggs both fertilised and unfertilised.

- In a last-ditch effort to escape a hostile creature, the Khaan can throw the first egg in its inventory to temporarily stun whatever is attacking it, allowing an easier getaway. However, the egg throw doesn't do much damage, so don't expect to kill many things with it. Also, whatever egg gets thrown is destroyed no matter what, so make sure you don't accidentally use that 190 lightning baby as a stun grenade.

- On Scorched Earth, you can show one of your Khaan your explorer map, and it will proceed to place a marker on your map revealing the location of the phoenix, whether it is flying around or in its ash state. However, doing so will completely deplete its food, and the marker will disappear after 5 real-life minutes. There will also be an hour-long cooldown after each use, so make sure you're ready beforehand. Using this ability on other maps will pinpoint the location of the Unicorn instead.

Taming:  *Speculation*

Khaan are skittish creatures that like to hang out in groups. To tame one, you'll first need to isolate it by either killing its pack members or picking it up (preferably with an Argentavis) and bringing it to a safer area. Many carnivores will want to aggro onto it, so make sure the area is safe nonetheless.

The Khaan is a passive tame, so no tranqs will be needed. It will only eat eggs to gain taming affinity, and higher quality eggs will be more effective than lower quality eggs. Not sure which eggs to use? Use Dododex to determine the quality of each egg: https://www.dododex.com/kibble Remember, you are NOT making kibble, you only need the eggs.

Once you have enough quality eggs and the previous stated conditions are met, you can finally begin the taming process. Like many other passive tames, the effectiveness will start at 100%, but will decrease over time if mistakes are made during the tame or you consistently use lower quality food. Approach the Khaan you wish to tame slowly, and once you reach a certain distance, it will perk up and start staring at you, deciding whether or not you are a threat. If you step closer or make any sudden movements once a Khaan spots you, it will immediately flee, so make sure to stand as still as you can. To progress, simply throw down one of your eggs and slowly back up. This will give the Khaan some space to slowly walk up and eat the egg, gaining taming percentage.

However, your Khaan might not trust you immediately, and will still refuse to eat the egg. In that case, you will need to bond with it a bit. Khaan have been hypothesised to have been social animals, and so you can get it to interact with you by using emotes. Some emotes like "thank" and "sorry" will interest the Khaan, and make it more likely to eat one of the eggs you throw down. However, some loud or violent emotes such as "taunt" will startle it, causing it to run away, loosing taming affinity and effectiveness in the process. Once you manage to convince a Khaan to eat of your eggs, repeat the process until the affinity reaches 100% by throwing down more eggs when it gets hungry.

Maps:  *Speculation*

- Scorched Earth

- Ragnarok

- Valguero (White Cliffs Region)

- Genesis: Part 1 (Volcanic Biome)

- Crystal Isles

- Lost Island

- Fjordur (Balheimr)

(Basically anywhere with a desert + the outliers above)

I believe that the Khaan will be a great addition into ark, and an amazing way to start off the new remaster. Since there currently aren't many good ways of stealing wyvern eggs (before having a wyvern yourself) on scorched, the Khaan will fit quite well into the map's progression system. That's not to say they won't be useful on other maps, as they could also be used to steal Rock Drake, Deionon, and Magmasaur eggs. For anyone worried about the Khaan making that first wyvern hunt less exhilarating, my goal in designing this creature is to make it easier, but not easy. The Khaan's low damage and health will make any direct confrontation with a wyvern a risky one, with fleeing being the only viable option.

So what are you waiting for? Save yourself the metal for that anti-wyvern turret tower and vote the Khaan today!
